Morning all!

Come and confess all on the Spreadsheet of Wonderfulness

By now, you may be finding it tough going. The weight loss is nothing like it was in the first couple of weeks. In fact, you may even have seen the scales show a gain.

This is quite normal at this stage, as your body is shifting/has shifted into fat-burning mode, and you are now burning only fat. No more water loss. Long-term, sustainable weight loss is likely to settle at 1-2lbs per week.

By now, though, you should be more used to this WOE, and it should seem a more normal way to eat. Hopefully you've sorted out how to plan for times when you're out and about, and have a few strategies up your sleeve for the unexpected. And hopefully you are also better at knowing what does and doesn't work for you.

Here's to a good week to us all. Smile

NewStartSameStory · 25/10/2012 16:10

B: alpro yoghurt and 2 low carb sausages
L: broccoli and cauliflower covered with some cheese with a piece of salmon

snack: alpro yoghurt.

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 25/10/2012 16:18

monday, new week, new me. pinky promise BIWI

In the meantime I am doing damage limitation.

tartiflette · 25/10/2012 16:23

B - two boiled eggs
L - catered (at a conference) so bizarre combo of quiche insides, a cold sausage (?!) half a tomato and a black coffee.
D - will be swede gratin, toulouse sausages, leftover braised cabbage.

Rather sausage and cream-heavy but can't be helped today.

I'm away for an old-school-friends' girlie weekend away from tomorrow - we've rented a cottage so food will be interesting (!) although I have requested that there be eggs and cheese available and will be taking low carb snacks with me to avoid the booze/crisps trap. I really need your big stick though BIWI as I am usually will-of-iron for the first 24hrs of this sort of thing and then have one slip up and think fuck it for the remaining time. Which would be disastrous after yesterday's slip up.

I feel very motivated though and am seriously so sick of yoyo-ing by a few pounds, so that in itself should keep me right.

toomuchmonthatendofthemoney · 25/10/2012 16:30

Triple eek!!

Viperidae · 25/10/2012 17:03

Well for once I have been good enough that I don't have to skulk guiltily after BIWI shouted

Having said that I freely admit I haven't been perfect - it is so hard at work.
B: Scrambled egg with chilli chicken pieces
L: None (was supposed to finish at 1 and come home for lunch but was stuck till 3)
Picked at: 2 slices chicken, small bag macadamia nuts
Succumbed to 2 cans Diet Coke and again NOT ENOUGH WATER!

Think tea will be chicken breasts and veg in some form or another.

BigBroomstickBIWI · 25/10/2012 17:35

Was that tough enough for all of you? Grin

The point is - yes, it can be hard. Yes, there will be 'fuck it' moments. But we have to really control these. Sometimes things are out of your control - e.g. being catered for, or weekends away when other people are catering - but mostly we can control what we do.

Off out on a mums from school girls night, could be messy[hblush]

EwanHoozami · 25/10/2012 18:14

B: wasn't hungry
L: Tuna and egg salad
D: Venison liver 'surprise' (who could resist...) Grin

It better taste nice, it smells somewhat agricultural

4l water. I may spring a comedy leak.

MrsHerculePoirot · 25/10/2012 18:42

I have also been good. Yesterday B - bacon, L - salad with prawn and avocado, D - homemade burgers. Then played netball, lost b one goal in the finals, came runners up and got a £20 bar tab - went out with netball team, didn't have any alcohol and snacked on halloumi! I did have a diet coke though... Before my water!

Today - no breakfast, 'no-carb' burger and salad, D - bacon/pork chops with cheesy sauce, broccoli and salad. Snacks - pepperami.

I have started writing down everything i eat and drink but I don't drink anything near enough water -I am now on half termso am determined to drink my allocation every day and see how that helps me!

Doshusallie · 25/10/2012 19:39

okginand6brazils

hurricanewyn · 25/10/2012 20:11

I've been good today honest

won't mention yesterday's disaster

B - leftover low carb lasagne
L - cauliflower mash
D - Sausages & celeriac with cheese

Haven't been around for a couple of days. Hope everyone's ok.

MrsHerculePoirot · 25/10/2012 20:40

I got some turnips (small ish round ish and white ish) in my veg box today. Can I eat them and if so what can I do with them?!?!?!

Brasssection · 25/10/2012 21:01

I have been v. good too. I know because I poas and it went very dark. This was very reassuring. I must be burning fat now. And I shredded. Do I win the goody two shoes of the day award?

The only things I'm really missing are porridge and wine.

Doshusallie · 25/10/2012 21:02

Tea - 3 bacon, 2 egg, lots of mushrooms fried in butter. Lush. Always have to have a big mug of builders tea when I have a fry up. Grin

Must go shopping, think Saturday, lidl.

Doshusallie · 25/10/2012 21:03

I hear ya brass

Doshusallie · 25/10/2012 21:03

I miss fruit too

Viperidae · 25/10/2012 21:05

I went looking for some of those little turnips in Sainsburys today and couldn't get any! My Saving Dinner book says quarter them, toss in olive oil, sprinkle with garlic powder, salt and pepper and roast.

They were a recommended side dish to my chicken I made tonight which was lovely - chicken breasts, diced bacon, shallots, thyme, 1 small apple diced, chicken stock and a dash of cream. I know the apple isn't ideal but thought a small one between 4 would not be too bad and it was really good.

Lavendersbluedillydilly1969 · 25/10/2012 21:49

Dinner tonight was Black Farmer sausages (yummy) with cabbage, leek, mushrooms and bacon sautéed in a bit of cream. It was absolutely delicious, can't imagine going back to mash and beans now.

BigBroomstickBIWI · 25/10/2012 22:53

Brasss - sorry to rain on your parade, so to speak, but if the strips are going dark, it actually means that you're not drinking enough water ...

MrsHP - I have a recipe for turnips somewhere, but it does involve cooking them with gin. Not sure I should really share it Grin

BigBroomstickBIWI · 25/10/2012 23:00

Turnips with Hot Gin Vinaigrette

serves 4-6

500g smallest baby turnips you can find

For the vinaigrette:

3 tablespoons gin
1 tablespoon each olive oil, clear honey and lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon Diijon mustard
salt and pepper
chopped parsley to garnish

First make the vinaigrette - mix all the ingredients in a small bowl or shake together in a screw-top jar

Trip any turnip stalks to 1 cm. Halve larger turnips but leave the rest whole

Cook the turnips in boiling water for 8-10 minutes; they should still be crisp. Drain well

Stir or shake the vinaigrette, add to the pan ad heat quickly, taking care as the gin may ignite. Return the turnips to the pan, cover and shake gently to glaze

Transfer to a warmed serving dish, sprinkle with chopped parsley and serve immediately
