Week 4 - Little Black Dress Low Carb Bootcamp - where the going gets tough ...

Morning all!

Come and confess all on the Spreadsheet of Wonderfulness

By now, you may be finding it tough going. The weight loss is nothing like it was in the first couple of weeks. In fact, you may even have seen the scales show a gain.

This is quite normal at this stage, as your body is shifting/has shifted into fat-burning mode, and you are now burning only fat. No more water loss. Long-term, sustainable weight loss is likely to settle at 1-2lbs per week.

By now, though, you should be more used to this WOE, and it should seem a more normal way to eat. Hopefully you've sorted out how to plan for times when you're out and about, and have a few strategies up your sleeve for the unexpected. And hopefully you are also better at knowing what does and doesn't work for you.

Here's to a good week to us all. Smile

Congrats Present, lovely news.
I've discovered that celery sticks are my friend of an evening when I've got the bored munchies. I dip them in Philly, coleslaw, pâté and pretty much anything lc I can find in the fridge. Never thought I'd be taking a sticking of celery in preference to a biscuit ever!

Auntmaggie, hope you're feeling better this morning. Wine, you must be shattered. God I remember I remember the ill children days .......

Hungry this morning so bacon, eggs and mushrooms it will be.

captainmummy · 25/10/2012 08:36

Hungover today [hblush]- had a few vodkas last night, and a whole packet of salted peanuts! Feel really bad today, craving toast and jam, but will prob try to have an egg or something later. Got Thai red curry soup for later.

Lavendersbluedillydilly1969 · 25/10/2012 08:40

Yea 1.25 lbs down since Monday. Can't quite get my head round eating more to lose weight but loving itSmile.

tartiflette · 25/10/2012 08:58

Well done lavender!

Urgh Wine - hope ds improves during the morning.
I am on it from today, no more cake-based cock ups.

AuntieMaggie · 25/10/2012 09:11

Still feel crap this morning and feel dehydrated even though I've drank loads. Not hungry at all but fancy a spicy asian type soup but have no coconut milk.

Lavendar I've bought some low carb dips from the supermarket such as sour cream and chive to have with celery/cucumber... feels really indulgent.

I was going to swap to BC lite but tbh I don't really fancy berries so may as well carry on with BC for the time being and switch between the two.

Brasssection · 25/10/2012 10:42

Viperidae: really? That would be great. Will pm you.

Still on the look out for low carb veg sausages, burgers etc.., but they don't seem to exist [hsad]

B: disgusting low carb 'porridge' from lowcarb megastore. Yuck but filling.

WineGless · 25/10/2012 10:44

Brass. I had a look last night and Linda McCartney seem to be about the best

Jins · 25/10/2012 11:00

Late weigh in for me as I've been away and have just made a flying visit home for some clean towels.

STS - happy with that!

Doshusallie · 25/10/2012 11:22

morning.

B - Greek yog.

Hope DS get better soon Wine! And you AuntMaggie.

AuntieMaggie · 25/10/2012 11:24

I bought some sausages in aldi that are 2g per 100g of carbs - ashfield farm ones. Also their bratwurst/bockwurst ones are low i think...

WineGless · 25/10/2012 12:14

Are they veggie ones? I haven't looked in Aldi for veggie tbh butcher be worth a try Brass. Also check out the recipe thread - there are lots of nice veggie recipes

Brasssection · 25/10/2012 12:30

Thanks. I will try. But it would be so nice to be able to just throw something together and sausages are so easy. So are lots and lots of other veggie things but they usually require eggs and I want a break from them sometimes.

WineGless · 25/10/2012 12:41

How about the Romano peppers filled with feta and pine nuts. I had them the other week and they were yummy

toomuchmonthatendofthemoney · 25/10/2012 13:12

Tmi alert! Well I desperately need to poo so my Dukan friend recommended oatbran. 2 heaped tablespoons covered in water, cooked in micro, added a bit of double cream to make it more palatable. I really hope it works .....

That was breakfast, for lunch I'm having 2 large flat cap mushrooms with a scraping of pesto and some grated cheese, grilled.

AuntieMaggie · 25/10/2012 13:16

wine no not veggie sorry

having beef stew and celeriac mash for dinner

so far had some veg sticks cheese and pate and 2 cups of tea

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 25/10/2012 13:17

just popped in to say its all gone wrong this week. Sad

Poppy1234 · 25/10/2012 13:22

Winegless poor you, I haven't encountered that yet with my 1 year old and 2 year old but I'm dreading it. Had bacon and poached eggs for breakfast and the DC loved it.

B: Bacon and eggs
L: Spiced cauliflower soup, 1 beef and spinach muffin (slightly bizarre but think I could get to like them, might add some cheese next time) and small piece of gorgonzola
D: Pan fried sea bream, swede mash, slow braised fennel, courgettes

May be some 100% chocolate in there too.

Doshusallie · 25/10/2012 13:38

Lunch - tuna, mayo, 1 egg, lettuce, cucumber, roasted courgettes and mushrooms, 2 slices of ham, 2 slices of emmental cheese.

WineGless · 25/10/2012 14:02

Mushroom spring onion and cheese omlete for breakfast
L salmon and stir fried veg
Will have to make salad to take to work later

captainmummy · 25/10/2012 14:23

Breakfast - Thai chicken soup
Lunch - ditto (very nice)
Snacks - went to a South African shop and bought Biltong (which tasted wierdly sweet) and ...
Kingclip for dinner.

Anyone who hasn't had Kingclip, is really missing out! It's the best, tastiest, meatiest, delicate-est fish in the world.

WIll have with roast veg I think.

BigBroomstickBIWI · 25/10/2012 14:43

I'm a bit up against it at the moment, with work and stuff, but I'm weighing in here with my big stick.

There is lots of slacking going on, I notice.

I understand that people aren't feeling well, or having a bad time for various reasons, but this is called life. Falling back into old habits, using things like chocolate and alcohol for comfort foods is a behaviour that you will have to look long and hard at.

Do you really want to shed the weight? You have to ask yourself this question before you buy these things, never mind allow yourself to eat them.

This is not a very forgiving WOE. Whilst it means we can enjoy yummy food and never feel that we are going hungry, it isn't one that you can dip in and out of.

The more you dip in and out, the more you will end up eating a diet which is both high fat and high carb - which is a recipe for disaster when it comes to your weight.

Week 4 is typically a difficult time, as weight loss will have slowed right down. And I appreciate that if you're feeling shit, it's very tempting to eat/drink something that you think you will make you feel better.

BUT HAS IT REALLY MADE YOU FEEL BETTER? HOW WILL YOU FEEL WHEN YOU GET ON THE SCALES ON MONDAY MORNING, TO FIND THAT YOU HAVE GAINED A COUPLE OF POUNDS?
