Week 1 Weigh-In - Little Black Dress Low Carb Boot Camp

WillieWaggledagger · 30/09/2012 16:17

i know you're all dying to get started on the low carb boot camp, and for those who haven't done this before, here is the link to the spreadsheet where you should record your starting weight for Monday 1st October in column c next to your name. Please don't touch any other columns for now

weight is recorded in lbs, so if you have problems converting from kg or stones, FiddledeFat made a handy widget which can be found in the tab at the bottom labelled 'conversion'

if your name isn't on the spreadsheet then you can add yourself by adding a new line and dragging the formulae down from an adjacent row, or just ask me to add you and I will do so as soon as i can

good luck with the first week of bootcamp!

Surviving so far...Bacon and scrambled eggs for breakfast, salad with blue cheese and celery for lunch and BIWI's (the recipe thread is FAB!) slow cooker lamb ( with some Moroccan spices) and roasted veg for supper..kids and dh can have couscous with it.
Have had coffee with milk Blush but carbs still work out pretty low and I know I would be vile, grumpy and likely to cheat if I didn't have coffee.

Limonata · 01/10/2012 17:33

Added weight to spreadsheet! Off to quaff more water.... Dinner will be roast chicken, lots of green veg, bearnaise sauce, roasted veg (courgette, red onion, mushrooms). Thank you for having me! Oh and I take chromium and coconut oil every morning. Coconut oil is brilliant. Love it. Sure my cravings have been less since I started taking the chromium, but that could just be lower sugar intake in general? Will be fighting the urge for Lindt sea salt chocolate later...

NotAgainAndAgain · 01/10/2012 17:58

Only one other person had yogurt for breakfast - am I totally off the chart to end up with the wrong choice?
I must admit it is my first take with bootcamp - and oh how high my expectaitions are!
My case - desperate needs - desperate measures. The only previous experience with LC-ing comes from Montignac. Do I have to brush up on my "do's and don't's"?

(dreaming) it would be so nice to get a link to "don't's" the same way I get to the spreadsheet. (Continue dreaming) ... and to recipes

motherofluvlies · 01/10/2012 18:09

Well actually....I wouldn't eat cheese at all if it wasn't for this diet.I have a sweet tooth....I thought peanut butter was allowed..lemme see...9.9 of which 3.7 /100g are sugars....?
I,m flagging now ,still feeling a bit hungry after dinner with a headache(2 paracetamol)
Will do reading and bath my luvlies to bed

sybilfaulty · 01/10/2012 18:11

Am about to add myself to the spreadsheet . Just eating a bit of cheese while making kids pasta.

NotAgainAndAgain · 01/10/2012 18:30

I have a sweet tooth too, motherofluvlies, I did not know it until I started LC-ing. I never thought I do - very inconvenient for dieting ;)

queribus · 01/10/2012 18:38

I've added my weight in. I think I'm the heaviest here so huge motivation to not be blubber-lady soon!

LittleFrieda · 01/10/2012 18:39

It's been a good day, all in all. Have drunk gallons of water. Breakfast: hard boiled egg, lunch chicken tikka and salad greens with a blob of homemade raiita (chopped cucmber, chopped spping onion, chopped mint and a blob of greek youhourt) and some salad greens. Dinner not sure yet.

coldcat · 01/10/2012 18:44

Evening all....so far so good! Breakfast=2eggs, coffee & cream x2 (don't actually like it with milk now...way too sweet)
Lunch=bowl low carb broccoli soup, lamb bites, salad & chopped peppers
Dinner= boiled bacon, buttered cabbage and mushrooms, Decaff coffee & cream
plus 2.5 litres water throughout the day.

Tartiflette....snap with the callanetics... love it! Do you do traditional or Evolution?

EwanHoozami · 01/10/2012 18:49

NotAgain this link has quite a useful list of what's not allowed in the first couple of weeks of a low carb diet (based on the assumption that the first fortnight of bootcamp is similar to that of Atkins - please shout if I'm off-pitch here!)

I keep finding foods that I'm not sure about. Was pondering whether miso soup was allowed..

AngieAir · 01/10/2012 19:00

Pleased that I've stayed roughly same weight after a summer featuring rice and cake.

Green beans instead of rice with chilli tonight and bulk cooking for work: burger, roast veg, salad for lunch. Boiled eggs, butter, coffee with cream for breakfast.

Luckily I don't mind eating the same thing for days on end :)

WineGless · 01/10/2012 19:10

BIWI will be along with her list of rules

here is link to recipe thread
Also if you to the top of page there is food section with recipes in. Oliviamumsnet kindly got us a low carb section and I ave started transferring them over

foosty · 01/10/2012 19:23

I'm here, have started LC'ing after a shocking boozy weekend filled with crap stodge for the hangover....grim

Breakfast - small pot Greek yog
Lunch - Salad with coleslaw and fish
Dinner - Chicken with balsamic cream sauce, mushrooms and veg. New recipe for me, smells lush, got it via Pinterest

DH is home at the moment (he usually works away) but he's quite happy to avoid carbs so no problems with me eyeing up his pasta...Smile

Have added my stats onto the spreadsheet - thanks for adding me in! Will measure tomorrow, I think.

NotAgainAndAgain · 01/10/2012 19:27

EwanHoozami thanks a lot for the link!
Oh dear, I've sinned twice today (yogurt in the morning, french beens at supper)Sad
It gives no room for a little square of dark choc, does it.

NotAgainAndAgain · 01/10/2012 19:30

oh, no green beens are in!

elastamum · 01/10/2012 19:31

I always eat yoghut and oatbran for breakfast, I am on meds that mean that I really need to eat some bran or something to keep my insides working at all (TMI sorry!). Apart from that have been really good. Tuna and salad for lunch. Spag Bol meat sauce and mixed veg for dinner.

I too have an emergency supply of dark choc Grin

mumtoblaire · 01/10/2012 19:32

Dinner was tuna with mayo and 50gr of tomatoes.

Managed 1.5 litres water so far and only one cup of tea with tiny splash of semi-skimmed milk at 5pm.

I am shocked that I am not hungry and don't have a headache from lack of tea.

Think this is going to be a winner. Must get to grips with the veg we are allowed as soup sounds wonderful.

elastamum · 01/10/2012 19:32

scuse spelling -cant see what am typing without my glasses!

Poppy1234 · 01/10/2012 19:36

Day 1 completed.

B: small tub of total Greek yog
L: tuna mayo with salad
D: small bowl of beef stroganoff, had really been looking forward to this but our nanny deviated from my carefully found recipe and went off piste with the cornflour. Just had a tiny bowl and hope not too much damage down.

Struggling to drink enough water so need a strategy.

Making some soup for lunch tomorrow, basically a bag of frozen cauliflower fried in butter and curry powder then boiled to mush with a chicken stock and a tin of coconut milk and blended. The easiest and laziest soup I've ever made so will report back if it's anyway tasty.

X

Ps please tell me yogurt is an an acceptable breakfast , I've resorted to the small tubs to manage the carbs.

NotAgainAndAgain · 01/10/2012 19:39

elastamum - me neither

WineGless · 01/10/2012 19:44

Yes full fat Greek yoghurt is acceptable however some people have found dairy stalls their weight loss but you have to work out what suits your body.

I take a big pot of the lidl yoghurt to work and keep in fridge for the week. Some like to add vanilla extract to give it flavour but I like it plain

NotAgainAndAgain · 01/10/2012 19:44

WineGless, thank you for the recipe thread, in my bookmarks now.
Please can someone tell me if I can sniff a choc square???? I find it so hard without Confused

WineGless · 01/10/2012 19:46

Poppy- did you see up thread I recommended getting a sports top bottle and refill it. There is some weird science thing that it fools your body when drinking it like that. I remember reading it and it definitely works for. Me

WineGless · 01/10/2012 19:48

Notagain, after Bootcamp you can. The purpose of these two weeks is to break your sugar addiction. Have you done any reading around whylow carbing is better for your health and the science behind it. If not I can recommend DR. John Briffa to get started and the idiot proof diet book

NotAgainAndAgain · 01/10/2012 19:52

Talking practice, is there anywhere on net a carb counter some sort?

In that link it says "NO to diary products except cheeses and cream in limited quantities". Cottage cheese - is it no good for the first two weeks then? Or OKish?
