We've nearly grown out of the last thread here so i started the new one.

We're all doing different things but we're all here to support each other on the journey. We kick each other when we need it and offer sympathy when that's more appropriate.

im on 1200 calories and dont really like sweet stuff so my snacks etc are always fruit or savoury things
i can live without cake and biscuits but do find cheese hard to go without but know it has to be done if i am going to do this properly

JohnnyDeppsfuturewife · 26/10/2012 13:04

Is this I am between 1200 to 1500 cals a day, this week I've been very good and had 3 days of 1200 and one of about 1300 but I know tomorrow I'll have a curry takeaway so it'll push my weekly average up.

I too love cheese but I could eat 300 or 400 calories as a snack which is more than the sausage casserole sent round by someone this week which is a proper meal. I'm intending to make that this weekend so thank you for recommending it (sorry I can't remember who it was).

cookieowner · 26/10/2012 13:29

it was me Johnny, and i hope you enjoy it as i find it very tasty and filling

JohnnyDeppsfuturewife · 26/10/2012 16:20

Thanks cookie. Best of all, the kids and dh will enjoy it as they all love sausages.

Goonatic · 26/10/2012 22:12

Oh bugger just went out for DH birthday. Ate rather naughty food.......

emonslemons · 26/10/2012 23:29

im sure i eat way mre than 1200 cal......must be more like 2500, im being very serious! but i seem to be loosing weight [hconfused]

isthiswhatitfeelslike · 27/10/2012 01:21

Here's a question - does it really matter which foods you eat if it's the same amount of calories? Will you lose just as much weight if you're eating 500 cals worth of biscuits or 500 cals of fruit and veg? I don't think I've ever had a definitive answer on this...?

TheHumancatapult · 27/10/2012 04:15

Tbh I'm not sure . But 500 calories of other stuff( biscuits sweets may send your blood sugars into a spin which then makes you crave other stuff also it may not fill you enough

Guessing it varies for people to over years of diets and fails I found carbs defintley issue for me but then I'm not a good low carber as found I need count calories to

Goo tactic did you enjoy it and happy birthday to Dh .Think we all need a break from time to time

tiggy114 · 27/10/2012 08:09

I think if you eat 500 cal of biscuits, you'llbe hungry again in 1/2 an hour. If you eat 500 cal of veg it will fill you up so overall you'll eat much more.

JohnnyDeppsfuturewife · 27/10/2012 10:19

lemons I'm curious about what you're eating! I think some low carb diets also let you eat lots of fat like cream in coffee, is that what you're eating? I haven't really looked into low carb diets because I don't see them as possible when you've got kids who like pasta and bread. I try to eat the same as my family.

Weirdly the other day I felt full after only about 900 calories (very filling veg casserole for dinner, tuna wraps for lunch) and as I was worried about my body going into starvation mode I looked around for a high calorie treat to bring me back to 1200. Ate some chocolates as I was really too full to have anything big. Half an hour later I was hungry and craving more! So I guess that confirms that sweet things make me want more (not that I hadn't already guessed!)

Youcanringmybell · 28/10/2012 08:30

I am struggling again this week I HATE it because I started telling myself the old 'why bother?' mantra...

No more. Ergh. I will not have lost anything again this week I know But have done a fresh batch of shopping and am suitable angered by by antics to make a renewed effort going back to a day at a time...

I have been so busy and had a few days out/ visits coming up I more or less made myself 'forget' about what I was trying to achieve.

Well I have 7 weeks to lose another 10 pounds - perfectly achievable and so I have NO EXCUSES. All this time and I am back where I started the thread.

NO EXCUSES - FAILURE NOT AN OPTION. I don't care if I have visitors. I must not eat SHIT. Sad Angry

TheHumancatapult · 28/10/2012 08:33

i been ok but now home struggling find motivation to do yoga with kids all home and am tired ( seems picked up a bug to (

JohnnyDeppsfuturewife · 28/10/2012 09:57

Gah, want to ban weekends. They will be my downfall.

Curry night last night and I ate so much I had a tummy ache (the first time I've done that in weeks). Then had to have home made birthday cake with a ton of cream

I have worked so hard this week and I feel like I've undone it in one meal. And I still feel bloated and sick so it really wasn't worth it.

TheHumancatapult · 28/10/2012 10:17

done the yoga and do feel better for getting it done . Am pushing hard for the 14 stone by Jan 1st but sometimes think well I could just stop right now .

Am hoping weight loss to help push motivation eating was sporadic and bit of mess last week but tried not go to mad then suspect the Vomiting bug may make it look better than really was

Anyone else hate clicks going back as the day is to long

Tortoise · 28/10/2012 12:47

Well, I've had a pretty bad week again. Started off ok but gone downhill from there.
I've had painful boobs all week for no reason, AF not due for over a week.
Today I have a runny nose and headache too.
Sausage hotpot cooking for dinner.

Youcanringmybell · 28/10/2012 12:57

I am going to ban FOOD. I cannot be trusted. Been good so far today but too little too late I feel.

Veggie curry for tea and NO snacks. Ever again.

JohnnyDeppsfuturewife · 28/10/2012 14:47

Today is going ok. Despite dcs and dh doing their best to wind me up I have eaten really well. Dd2 stuck her fingers in a halloween decorated cupcake so i had to buy it and I didn't eat it.

I will not go back to 13 st.

emonslemons · 28/10/2012 20:57

depps wife, i mix it up. i was having as much as i liked of all fruits and veg (freshh and dry) nuts and seeds etc (thats snacks) breakfast has been gluten free toast with butter/ peanut butter. tea with soy milk. my only rule is no crap/refined sugar. then i can eat as much as i need.

this week there is a huge weightloss as ive got the nast bug humancatapult was talking about.

also just downloaded an audio book by susan hepburn on amazon as a free trial - youcanring have you considered something like that? its basically hypnosis (i like to think of it as positive reconditioning) then im hoping the outcome will be an easier weightloss.

emonslemons · 28/10/2012 21:11

what is everyones veiw of the perfect size and bodyshape for them? im also very intrested to know how your weights correlate to this info!

ok so for me a very nice size is about a 12 uk, my weight would need to be around 70kg and the last time i was like that i had an hour glass shape. im 176 cm

Youcanringmybell · 28/10/2012 21:39

Thanks lemons - I shall look into getting a bit of extra help!! Thanks x

isthiswhatitfeelslike · 28/10/2012 22:01

I can be very, very hard on myself as well when I have bad days / weeks. I've done something radically different this week - which is not to try and fit in a bunch of fruits and veg, etc. Instead I'm eating lots of bread, cheese, and meat but keep myself under 1200 calories. By eating what was previously "forbidden" in diets in the past, I don't feel very deprived and by eating lots of animal protein I am comfortably full most of the time. I'm not someone who is a big snacker so would much rather eat 3 meals (or even 2 big meals only) a day than 4-6 "smaller" things.

This may not be scientifically the best way to lose weight but I feel much more happy to stick to it as its most in synch with my previous eating habits. Calories are definitely more reduced overall.

My weigh in day is tomorrow - I had a big loss about 4 weeks ago but since then been plateaued and gained 2lb back last week so been much stricter this week. Hoping to have lost 1-2. Time will tell!

emonslemons · 28/10/2012 22:23

good luck and dont worry, i know what your saying about eating what you enjoy isthis for some reason all i was thinking i actually really deep down wanted to eat the other day was a croissant! but i have to get them gluten free so i couldnt have them then, now im sick so cant have it.....but i think if you arent particularly hungery (have good sugar metabolism) then it is fine to eat anything really within reason and moderation. But i do have limits and its a quite fine line so i must get to know myself better really. im deffinatley intending to do the hypno stuff as i did it for labour and it did work its magic.

Tortoise · 28/10/2012 22:49

Eating choc caramel digestives. Failure Sad

isthiswhatitfeelslike · 29/10/2012 00:23

Tortoise if I had some I probably would eat them. I got in some little mini chocs for Halloween coming up (I live in the US, huge thing here) and I have a little one of those on occasion but I've resisted buying any other sweets at the shop. I get my cravings for sweets at night when I can't go to the shop and get them, so I have to get over it or eat something else if I'm truly hungry.

Those who are calorie counting - do you eat a specific number a day or does it vary? I just looked back over my week and while always under 1200 (except one day I had 1300) it is quite a wide range and I don't know if this is ok or if the days I eat less I am slowing my metabolism down?

Here's my week and cals
Mon - 1200
Tues - 600
Weds - 1300
Thurs - 1100
Fri. - 1000
Sat - 900
Sun. - 800

I don't exercise outside of daily routine at all. I have a very sedentary lifestyle compared with europeans. Am I doomed no matter what I eat due to that?! Sad

TheHumancatapult · 29/10/2012 04:23

Ok I'm out of bed about to go Di yoga but am 4lbs down Grin

Which I think Is bug playing a part but will take the loss anyway

Lemons I like to be around size 12 to am about 5.7 and even when weighed less than 9 stone always needed a 12 as I was cussed with hips but waist used to be loose so 2 more dress sizes to go aiming around 140lbd but may alter it when get nearer

Tortoise can you look at when your danger times are and work out if can distract yourself

Is this

Mine varied bit not quite that much . I find no problems with it but think there's two schools of thought . I find my body struggles more if eat same amount of calories a day it gets used to it

. As for exercise I was reading that it actually only counts for 15-20 % biggest thing is diet. For me it's a destress thing and help tone up and stop me going stiff
