The Little Black Dress Low Carb Bootcamp - starting in 2 week's time!

BIWI · 16/09/2012 21:43

Following on from the success of Bootcamp v1, where we lost in the region of 70 stone between us, we will be running a 10 week v2 Bootcamp, starting on Monday 1 October.

This is designed to take us up to the end of the first week in December, by which time you should have lost at least half a stone - and that's being pessimistic. There's every chance you could lose more than a stone over that period of time! Plenty of time to make sure that you can get into that Little Black Dress without the lumps and bumps showing too much.

This is how it will work:

The first two weeks will be very strict. I will shout at you a lot and will wave my big stick around with gay abandon. After this period, you can then relax into Bootcamp Light or, if it suits you, stick with Bootcamp for the remaining 8 weeks.

We have a Spreadsheet of Marvellousness, which will be upated each week, so that you can plot your progress.

There are 10 simple rules here , and it's really easy to do. No weighing or counting (unless you really want to). And above all, lots of support from all those who are doing it alongside you.

Who is up for it?

Thanks will try those. You may jest but made a nigella cake once and she clearly says in her recipe to keep it in the clingfilm "don't worry it won't melt!" says she. It did. Later editions of the recipe book say take it out of the clingfilm.....

TellMeLater · 24/09/2012 20:02

Kale crisps - how did that one pass me by?

aroomofherown · 24/09/2012 20:04

Grin Dosh

I must say the wine is going down particularly well this evening. Quite glad that we are starting in October.

halfthesize · 24/09/2012 20:31

BIWI that mash sounds scrummyGrin

Also loving the idea of kale crisps.....

MessyMoo · 24/09/2012 20:38

Boot Camp is what I need - I'm in!

HavingAnOffDAy · 24/09/2012 20:39

I'm in so am marking my place. I lost half a stone doing this before my hols in August but lost my motivation Sad. I really need to lose 2 stone and would love to do this by Christmas

aroomofherown · 24/09/2012 20:43

HavingAnOffDay that's my aim too! 2 stone by Christmas. Slightly terrified that it won't work for me for some reason.

Doshusallie · 24/09/2012 22:46

No wine here. 2 day hangovers are a good deterrent.

MessyMoo · 24/09/2012 23:07

What is the average weightloss being aimed for? I need to lose a lot but every little helps

Shagmundfreud · 24/09/2012 23:17

Not sure I'm going to be able to ditch my morning coffee.

If I have it with cream it won't sabotage the diet too much surely?

Themumsnot · 24/09/2012 23:41

So have I got this right:
No coffee/Diet Coke
No fruit
No alcohol
No rice
Already given up wheat and sugar.
What else can't I have?

sybilfaulty · 25/09/2012 06:13

Mumsnot, you can't have potatoes, pasta, couscous or bread either. However, the wealth of stuff you CAN have will compensate for this and you won't miss any of them in a very short space of time Smile

BIWI · 25/09/2012 06:19

You don't have to exclude coffee, Shagmund - I never have. However, some books will tell you that caffeine has an impact on insulin levels, some say it doesn't - so you'll have to see how it affects you. Better to drink it with cream as there are fewer carbs - but again, I've not stopped drinking coffee with milk. I try to restrict it to two cups a day.

Sadly I won't be joining you all in lbdbc because amazingly I have hit target - after 7 weeks of trying to cloy back the weight I gained through too many holidays and meals out and bloody kids being off school - I'll blame anyone or anything!
I have lost all the weight in a week - was 64.6kg last Monday after a massive carb blow out at the weekend - am 60.3kg today. I have stalled for ages around 63kg and then it all comes off in a week?!!! It's not just water either my measurements are back down again.
I will still be hanging around lurking, sharing recipes, cheering you all on from the sidelines especially the newbies who may all be a little nervous of giving up their comfort food and a bit scared of BIWI. There will be times when you stall and you think it's not working but the big loss will be just around the corner - sometimes 7 weeks around the corner.

sybilfaulty · 25/09/2012 07:43

Wow, Tellme, that's brilliant. Well done to you .

halfthesize · 25/09/2012 08:20

Congrats TellMe thats fab x

BIWI · 25/09/2012 08:57

TellMeLater - that's fantastic! And also very interesting. I had stuck around the same weight for ages - went on holiday, had a two week carb fest, and then on return dropped 2lbs within the next two weeks.

Stick around, though, and give the rest of us help and support, won't you?

My copy of the Idiot Proof Diet arrived yesterday - it's quite exciting - I like the way they talk about that mental shift you have to make before you get going on a diet.

Do I really need to buy all the supplements they recommend? I've got a good multivitamin. I have wondered about chromium before as it is supposed to control sugar cravings isn't it.

Jacaqueen · 25/09/2012 09:29

Don't give up coffee unless you want to.

I am another one looking for a 2 stone loss. I managed to lose 26 lbs in 11 weeks when I joined the first Bootcamp back in April. No reason I can't do the same again.

Carb loading is a well used method of trying to trick the body out of a plateau. You eat carbs for a set period of time. Could be a few hours or a few weeks. You gain weight which will mostly be water. Then you cut the carbs severely, lose the water weight and hopefully jolt your body into fat burning mode again. You need to be disciplined though.

Pippa1964 · 25/09/2012 09:38

Hello bootcampers - I'm in. Need to lose at least a stone and by Christmas would be fab. See you on the 1st....x

cathyandclaire · 25/09/2012 10:07

Well done Tellme, we can think of you when the scales are refusing to budge and be inspired!
Do you mind me asking, what are you going to eat now? Still low carb (but with wine and choc Wink) or back to a bit of everything?

HumphreyCobbler · 25/09/2012 10:08

Hello. I have started early - no cheese or cream or dark chocolate yesterday. Feel thinner already Wink

Am gutted though, I thought runner beans were really carby and have been avoiding our ENORMOUS glut of them, annoying my DH in the extreme due to the efforts he went to grow them in this dismal summer, only to find that I could have been eating them all the time....

HumphreyCobbler · 25/09/2012 10:11

Yes Tellme, that is very inspiring. It is SO worth sticking with this diet. I don't think I am losing weight that fast, but when I think what happens re GAINING weight when I am eating bread and sugar it keeps me on the straight and narrow.

Doshusallie · 25/09/2012 10:24

well done Tell me. I wish I would have a whoosh - I have been stuck between the same 3 pounds for months and months and months...

HumphreyCobbler · 25/09/2012 10:26

me too Doshusallie.
