The NO EXCUSES, Now or NEVER slimming thread

Youcanringmybell · 30/08/2012 16:08

This is a thread for those who are pig sick of over eating and binging and have decided enough is enough.

There will be no excuses on this thread...no 'oh but I was due my period' or 'oh but it was left over so I finished it' etc

IF you need to have a nice meal as part of a celebration DO IT but no more excuses - have the meal and move on.

This is a thread for the brave.....this is a thread for the serious. Join at your peril.....

Monday mornings are weigh in - so that we cannot binge on the weekends. I am deliberately being hard on myself and if you want to do it to please join. Even if someone wafts wine and banoffee pie under my nose I will not have it - even if the world is going to end I WILL NOT HAVE IT

weigh in Monday morning and post here

Oh and drink some wine and eat some choc while you still can because on Monday you will be in hell Angry

Well well well...how the MIGHTY fall.......

Tortoise - was it really worth it....huh?
We shall chalk that cake up to experience and follow with the mantra MOVE ON. You did it, it's done but remember it is NOW or NEVER. Remember what it feels like after eating something to the superiority feeling of not eating it.

I expect nothing but complete dedication from you all tomorrow...

Tomorrow will be even harder than day one. Our bodies are going to wake up feeling flat and will want a pick me up....BRING ON THE PAIN

What's the worst it can do...Goodnight lovelies. Tomorrow it is WAR

Hi all! I am weighing in today at 11 stone. Would like to be 10 stone. So difficult to do as I love eating and hate feeling hungry. I do like fruit, but apples do not always hit the spot. Just had a solero - not many calories but last for quite a long time.

Hopefully will be easier to get in a routine now ds's back to school.

KampaKat · 03/09/2012 22:25

My DH has just complained that his jeans felt tighter than normal when he sat on the sofa after dinner.

It is probably because I am still cooking the same amount of food but just distributing it onto our plates in different proportions.

If I make him look fatter I instantly look thinner Blush

teenyweenytadpole · 03/09/2012 22:29

Well day 1 for me and I didn't do too bad but I have realised I need to go shopping and buy some things I can have in for when I really feel an urge to eat something and it's not a mealtime. I am a bit wary of too many artificial sweeteners though as I don't think they are healthy and I also think they make me crave sweet things. So...any ideas? Fruit, obviously, and crudites, maybe some iced lollies, what else?? (Weighed myself today - 13st 3lb, fuckety fuck)

LetLoveRule · 03/09/2012 22:33

Right, day one done! I'm off to make a peppermint tea, then up to bed. I can do this!!!! So looking forward to swimming tomorrow too. Night all!

Goldidi · 03/09/2012 23:13

Finished with the school work I needed to do now so can go to bed. And I didn't snack while I was working :) I have another INSET tomorrow before the hordes of kids arrive on Wed, so more training day food to resist. I think tomorrow the choice is vege lasagne or steak pie, both served with chips, followed by sticky toffee pudding. I will definitely resist the chips and have salad instead but I'm not so sure about resisting the pudding Blush. Even with eating the cake today though I have eaten less than I normally would.

My big trigger is in the car on the way home from work so I'm looking for inspiration for things I can eat then rather than buying a bag of sweets from the garage. Anybody got any ideas? I don't know if I'll manage just willpower, I really could do with something healthy to snack on, maybe I could get a bag of grapes instead.

Time for bed I think now, goodnight all.

FermezLaBouche · 04/09/2012 06:48

Goldidi - I think I could do it your way too - I know my body quite well and have become very good at ignoring its signals over the years. "Stoppp feeeding meeee, I'm fulllll" "No you're not, have some more CHEESE" etc. :( I would LOVE to love 3 dress sizes like you did, in fact - that is my long term aim. Don't think I could ever do public scales in Boots - I'd be terrified some wanker joker would take a pic of me on them and post it onto facebook as a "hilarious" photo to share.

I managed to get work done quickly last night as I just ploughed through from when I got home at 5:30 to 9pmish. Mostly bitty bits as we've got a whole new curriculum to plan this coming week..!

The BEST thing about this NEW REGIME so far is that I don't feel I'm denying myself. I had a lovely, decent sized meal for dinner, I've got nice healthy food today...and it was lovely waking up without the claggy post-wine taste in my mouth.

Hope everyone has a good day - WE ARE GOING TO DO THIS!!!!

Youcanringmybell · 04/09/2012 07:06

Morning folks....

I have re-read some of the recent posts over the last day or so....

There is an overwhelming worry among lots of us on what to snack on when feeling hungry. I am sorry to say that it is because we are USED to snacking that we have got into this mess.

NOW is the time to STOP the snacking between meals. Let yourself feel hungry so that your tummy shrinks and starts to rely on only three meals a day.

A piece of fruit is ok. healthy. BUT we shouldn't be frightened of the HUNGER - we need to feel it in order to learn how to IGNORE it and not feed ourselves everytime we have a slight pang....

Morning all.
I agree youcan, snacking did get us here. Constant eating is not necessary. Someone said to me once before, chew gum instead if you feel the need to snack. Keeps the mouth busy. I don't like gum though!

I've had banana on toast for breakfast. Thought I would give it a try again and see how it makes me feel. No school run until tomorrow.

Youcanringmybell · 04/09/2012 10:18

Tortoise - YES!! Banana on toast - well done Thanks

I think all of us on this thread are a bit scared of having our 'food taken away'
I too panic at the thought of no treats/ snacks throughout the day and evening - literally full panic. But if I binge i bring on a panic attack too.
Time to make myself realise how much I was eating by NOT EATING IT anymore.

CONSTANTLY LOOKING FOR FOOD IS DISGUSTING.

I'm trying out a distraction with myself. Every time I want to grab a snack or just eat something for the sake of it I grab my kindle and have a read for a minute or 2. It worked last night as it's normally when I'm sitting watching the tv I need a snack Hmm

On the upside I'm racing through the 3rd Hunger games book.

ImCoveredInBeeeees · 04/09/2012 10:21

I agree with youcan re snacking. It is not necessary to eat constantly. I am as guilty as anyone here for this, but I cannot go on like I have been. I eat three times a day from now on and THAT IS IT!

ImCoveredInBeeeees · 04/09/2012 10:22

Yes youcan, it is disgusting if I think about it. Keep up the motivation, you are good!

buggyRunner · 04/09/2012 11:04

goldini try licorishe? just plain or a small lolly - far fewer calories and just 1.

MaggieMcVitie · 04/09/2012 11:07

Weighing in this morning (I know, a day late Blush) at 12 st 1. Hoping for amazing things in a weeks time. Have decided to do the Harcombe diet, detox starts tomorrow - oddly excited Grin

cocoaGOLDchannel · 04/09/2012 11:19

Morning everyone!

Well I started well today- up at 6am for a run. Problem is it made me very hungry so I have scoffed half my days calories already Blush

DH is out tonight though so I can have some toast with DD after nursery and then bath and bed with a good book once she's settled.

Challenging day tomorrow as off to Leeds (from London) and the latte/bacon sarnie or muffin combo will be hard to resist en route!

cocoaGOLDchannel · 04/09/2012 11:21

ps. Anyone else Great British Bake Off fans? Will be a rough watch whilst dieting! Thank goodness bread week is done- I ate a yummy garlic focaccia watching it which can't have been good.

cantmakecarrotcake · 04/09/2012 11:40

Like youcan said snacking is our biggest downfall. I find on days I'm out all morning that it's easy not to snack (although I have to resist the coffee and cake temptation). Sitting here now with a cuppa while DD naps is tough though.

I definitely understand the worry around being hungry and not having food around. For work I'd pack all sorts of snacks 'just in case' and inevitably end up eating them while procrastinating about the piece of work I was doing. After a few days you wonder what all the fuss was about.

Cocoa, well done on the run. In fact doing anything at 6am other than groaning because DD is awake early deserves a medal I think.

I was up half the night with DD last night so resisting my usual chocolate fix as a pick-me-up.

cantmakecarrotcake · 04/09/2012 11:43

And yes to the bake off. Love it (is it tonight or did I miss it yesterday?) MUST NOT EAT CAKE!

We always used to laugh when we used to be troughing a big bowl of Ben and Jerrys while watching supersize-superskinny.

whitewineandchocolate · 04/09/2012 11:51

I would like to join this thread as well - am just so fed up with dieting, overeating & very excessive snacking mainly of chocolate & crisps. Have just left Weight Watchers as it was making me more stressed about the whole thing.

So my plan now is sensible eating, no snacking & to not weigh myself. I look forward to reading your stories & good luck to everyone!

Tortoise · 04/09/2012 12:23

Well I did feel a bit queasy after breakfast but that passed and I'm only just feeling hungry.Smile Not sure I want it every day though.

Going to have a butternut squash and red pepper cup a soup (tesco own brand one). Resisting buttery bread to dunk in it will be hard!

Not very healthy tea tonight but its got to be used up. Chicken and Bacon pie and will do veg with it and mash for DDs.

Youcanringmybell · 04/09/2012 12:30

cocoa You are doing well. You MUST NOT have cake or bacon sarnies tomorrow. FAILURE is not an option. Have a skinny Latte and drink slowly. Eating those foods will not satisgy the craving - just make you feel horrible and like a failure. YOU KNOW IT MAKES SENSE

Whitewine Welcome Better late than never. We are strict on this thread. NO more pandering to fat. We are better than that now.

tortoise The queasiness will pass - please give it a few more days. As for the pie....please just have the suggested portion on the pack. Portion size is everything to people like us...eat veg and you should still have had a fab day. Don't let it ruin you!!

snarkle, carrot, beees Glad you agree about the snacking. A new way of life awaits us.

Tortoise · 04/09/2012 12:40

I will Smile.
Just remembered there's some sweet potatoes to use up too. I can have those instead of normal spurs.

Tortoise · 04/09/2012 12:41

Spuds* Damn auto correct!

rosalux · 04/09/2012 13:05

Hello. Have been lurking the past few days, and am encouraged by all your determination. Although not technically overweight at 10st (I'm 5'6") I'm still 10lb over my pre-pregnancy weight and spend far too many evenings eating rounds of buttered toast/jumbo packets of posh crisps/entire bars of g&b chocolate (the big ones). I eat well all day and then after dinner seem to be overtaken by some sort of trance as I feel compelled to shovel unnecessary and unwanted food into my mouth until I feel sick. Anyway, last night I took myself off to bed for 20mins after dinner and listened to a hypno app. I still had some chocolate while watching tv afterwards, but 2 squares not a whole bar (or 2). Eventually I hope to start meditating, but one step at a time. Good luck everyone.
