Agree that the leap from 1 to 2 is the hardest!

Aching slightly from NMTZ with DH yesterday. Used mostly 5kg with some 3kg, and modified circuit 6 to make it a bit harder- pressups into plank rows instead of plank rows, and used weights with the supermen. Just come back from 7 miler and feel good!

gypsyfloss · 27/08/2012 14:41

Sounds good notyummy . I'm amazed at how much my abs ache after running only a mile yesterday. I intend to work on the distance bit but need some new trainers first. Not today though 'cos a) it's raining and I'm going to be a fair weather runner only and b) the sportswear shop and indeed town in general will be full of BH shoppers.
How long does it take you to run 7 miles?

notyummy · 27/08/2012 14:47

7 miles= around 54 minutes.

gypsyfloss · 27/08/2012 15:22

ok thanks; that'll help me plan a rough route.

notyummy · 27/08/2012 17:28

Not sure how fast you are btw before you start route planning. Compared to the majority of my friends I run quite fast (not boasting - certainly not County level runner or anything, just not bad for a 40 year old that runs for fitness.) Runners world website good for idea of how fast you are/could be. Depends on how fast your mile pace is I suppose.

dawnpreview · 27/08/2012 18:14

I have had a couple of days off as we have been doing other stuff over the bank holiday. My dog was also taken into the vets on Sunday, so have had the worry of that as well- hopefully he will be coming home tomorrow.
I am not looking forward to getting back to shredding tomorrow, my body has definitely enjoyed having a rest!
Fretfree- L2 is hard, but I am determined to get through it. I have got some slightly smaller weights, and found that made it a bit better.
Lucky you Ginnifer finding your abs, I am very jealous!

gypsyfloss · 27/08/2012 19:23

I'll check out that website notyummy; it was more to get a rough idea in my head of how long approx to the next village and then on to the town.

sweetkitty · 27/08/2012 21:03

Right Day 5 of level 2 done cannot believe I've been exercising every day for 15 days, never done that in my life before.

Still having to stop and mostly being Anita (I wish). Am in awe of all the exercise that your all doing.

Hello everyone and well done all!

Day 8 Level 2 done this morning! Still can't do it all . . . first set of jump rope defeats my knees. But am changing to Level 3 after 2 more days. Although I can't do a lot of Level 3, that bit where you are in plank position holding the weights I just can't do . . . it's agony for my hands to balance on the weight - so I do it without the weights Wink

fretfree · 28/08/2012 11:29

Hello everyone - very impressed with how everyone is getting through L2 and 3. I did L1 again this morning. I'm definitely getting better at press ups. I'll be moving up soon but I'm travelling over the next 10 days. Do you need any extra space for L2?

Jezabelle · 28/08/2012 11:48

OK, I'm sold. Am just ordering Shred off Amazon, but I don't have any dumbells. What weight should I order. I have no idea! I have an OK level of fitness, (started a spinning class a month ago, go running or on a bike ride a few times a week). My arms are pretty weak though! Any advice?

sweetkitty · 28/08/2012 12:27

Do you know I did think my stomach looked a bit flatter this morning, I have a wee bit of a flabby overhang and it looked a bit shrunken Grin

I'm going to do 10 days of level 2 then go onto level 3 just for something different, I might do Ripped in 30 then go back to level 2 of the Shred or something

gingercat12 · 28/08/2012 12:57

Congratulations, sweetkitty! I had the same impression, a less flabby tummy (with more stretchmarks never thought I'd be so hapy to have them) this morning.

I managed to set aside £100 from my birthday money for my next exercise dvd. I am thinking Insanity / Body Revolution / Turbofire or something like that, so I will try to make up my mind while reading these posts. But first I would like to do a full round of Ripped, BFBM and Killer. Possibly 6W6P as well. They just work so well for me.

gingercat12 · 28/08/2012 12:59

BTW is Body revolution a dvd or one of these wii or whatever thingies?

gypsyfloss · 28/08/2012 13:38

Body Revolution is a series of dvd's with a manual to accompany them. It is very prescriptive- you do strength 1, 2 and cardio for 3days (one per day) and then repeat, with 1 day off in 7. You do this for 2 weeks and then move up to the next sets. You need weights and a stretchy band thing and a bit of space 'cos some of it is running about.
I thought it was fab but tbh it hurt my knees and left hip almost immediately . So I have been back doing 6w6p which I love and works.I have even run and my knees and hips are fine. I've decided atm I'm going to stick to what I know and also increase my running as I'm starting full time uni with placements on Mon and I don't really know what time I'll have to commit to Jillian.

xelliex · 28/08/2012 14:44

Jezabelle I started level 1 using cans then switched to litre bottles of water. Once I could do that I got some 1kg and 2.3kg weights which I use most of the time. You'll probably find your upper body strength improves quite quickly.

Just done day 9 of L3 and having hated it to start with I now don't want to finish it! I'm amazed how quickly my fitness seems to have improved. I honestly think I've had better results doing this then I have doing hours of cardio in the gym.

sweetkitty · 28/08/2012 16:57

I started with cans and the bought 1.5kg weights, have bigger ones but happy with the 1.5 kg ones for now.

Day 6 of Level 2 for me, still struggling.

notyummy · 28/08/2012 20:02

Thighs are killing me! Combination of NMTZ with quite heavy weights on Sunday, 7 mile run yesterday and Insanity plyometric cardio session today has crippled me. Supposed to be another Insanity tomorrow and rest day Thursday. Will see....

3monkeys · 29/08/2012 00:10

OK. have just bought 6W6P and some heavierweights. Am bored of shredding now so looking forward to something new!

gypsyfloss · 29/08/2012 07:33

Have fun 3monkeys. I love 6w6p ... Only Ll1 though, L 2 is a killer. Once I could do all the moves I increased the weight on the upright exercises and added in a smaller weight to the floor stuff which, for me , makes it a really decent session.

BalloonSlayer · 29/08/2012 08:22

I love 6W6P Level 1 too! I tried Level 2 once and it made me cry Grin

I shall move on to that again when I have finished the shred as TBH my arms and legs are fine, it's my tummy that's my disaster area.

About to start Day 9 Level 2.

twinkle1010 · 29/08/2012 10:15

Hi, hope its ok to join. Ive just started the Shred DVD. Today was day 3 level one. Apparently im very unfit :)

Im also joining slimming world next week and returning to my weekly zumba class. I have done absolutely no exercise during the summer holidays and I am paying for it now!

notyummy · 29/08/2012 11:28

Welcome Twinkle - you wont be unfit soon!

Balloon - L2 6W6P is hard. I really should try it after I have completely finished Insanity as it probably should feel a lot easier - the speed and cardio that make it tough are a lot like elements of Insanity.

Thighs feel a lot better. Day off work and dd is at a playdate so I am about to do Cardio Abs and Pure cardio....wish me luck!!
