Wow thanks littlemiss this was a programme created by one of the trainers so assumed safe but I might see about mixing it up like you (she is called Beverly hills mind you!)

I might just go and do some pure cardio today and ask about muscle damage. I do take a protein isolate shake afterwards...

My programme does include 20mins cardio first and like you I could cross trainer for ages, but that wave skier thing makes my legs aflame!!

StealthPolarBear · 14/08/2012 10:38

Bnkey is there a reason you are so down?
Fluffy sorry to hear about all your stress :(
Welcome tumble, I could have written your post. Pasta and chocolate are my downfall and I love cheese tho can resist.
Bad day yesterday . Desperate to get back into it today.

littlemissstan · 14/08/2012 11:07

Oh I would probably go with a professional recommendation rather than DP's advice :) Though he has got very in to his training recently, and looks all lush and handsome, which is making me feel EVEN WORSE...

InMySpareTime · 14/08/2012 12:04

I had the rest (1/3) of a takeaway lasagne for lunch today (I froze it from last week), with some peas. It didn't look much, but was quite filling. It remains to be seen whether it'll keep me full until dinner, on the early shift, my lunch break is 2 hours earlier than on the late shift, I don't adapt well to changes in mealtimes.
I am surprised to not miss cake, I ate so much of it, but I don't ever crave food, I just eat what's in front of me.
Since deciding to lose weight, I have made a conscious effort to view food at work as "not mine" rather than "forbidden". It's a subtle difference, but while I may sneak something forbidden, I would never take something that wasn't mine.
I'm a weirdo aren't I?

reastie · 14/08/2012 12:16

Archareastie here, have changed back from olympics nn to normal name

chips how very annoying re: that person at the wedding

Re: carpets we have potty training to come in the next year Confused . We have a very cheap carpet in the playroom on the basis it will be ruined very quickly and a lovely cream carpet in the sitting room I'm slightly obsessive about and panic everytime DH brings a cup of tea in Blush . Our dining room has a carpet which has been completely ruined by DD hurtling food all over the floor.

mrspnut a year is a long wait Shock but hopefully at least you know you'll get good help at the end of the year.

kato my gym program is currently:
12 mins on treadmill
8 mins on wave stepper
7 mins on the arm thingy bit like a bike but for arms not legs
6 mins on regular stepper
2 x 12 reps with 20kg on an arm weigh machine
2 x 15 reps with lat something or other (an arm/chest exercise machine) 25 kg
3 x 15 reps on a leg press at about 30 kg I think
Stretches.

That usually takes 45 mins - 1 hour and according to the gym machines burns around 380 kcals. I have no idea how that compares to other people and I by no means call myself particularly fit yet . I did start typing the levels of all the machines but thought I may bore you to death Wink . My gym always say it's better to work less in length but work harder so I try and take each minute at time and if I feel like I need to give up just try to get to the end of the minute and then start the same thinking the next minute. I should be at the gym this pm but I have an odd thing that feels like thrush but isn't Blush and I'm in alot of discomfort and don't want to make it worse. I might just do some weights at home.

littlemiss that's really interesting re: your DHs advice as when I go to the gym usually i can only go 3 times a week and they are consecutive days and I certainly notice on the third day it is hard work as my muscles feel exhausted! Stepper is hard but I think I'm getting there a bit more now. I love the wave stepper but it makes sweat literally drip down my face [bush]

reastie · 14/08/2012 12:18

[ blush ] not [bush] , obviously! Wink

chipsandmayonnaise · 14/08/2012 13:21

Thanks all, i am still so annoyed that I feel a little sick. I am non-confrontational, and hate things like this, and beat myself up too much. It is funny though how some people choose to interpret things. (Yeah- my not saying a proper hello was all about YOU,and not about the fact I was trying to prevent DC from going under a car.) I have told DM I am NOT apologising and that is the start and the finish of it.

Decided to treat myself to scrambled eggs and buttery toast for brunch. Could not finish it. I got tired of eating half way through.

Love the idea of saying that food is 'not mine' rather than 'forbidden'. The difference is subtle- but WAY more effective!

reastie · 14/08/2012 13:45

Meant to add re: treats for yourself when losing weight - yes, I'm going to do this with every half stone. I've decided I'm going to buy myself posh smellies or maybe a massage/get my eyebrows waxed or something to help me feel better about myself and boost my confidence. I also like buying fresh flowers for myself (bit of a treat as no one else ever does!) or maybe new clothes/accessories. If anyone here can't think of any treats that are non food for themselves, I'd be glad to help them out in buying myself some more treats Grin Grin

chips I'm v non confrontational too. Can you do one of those non apologies 'I'm sorry you felt I was being rude but I was trying to save DC from running under a car. I'm sure you understand why I may not have had time to chat at that moment in time'

chipsandmayonnaise · 14/08/2012 13:50

:) reastie I did think of saying 'I am sorry you misinterpreted me' or 'I am sorry that you are a selfish cow did not see I was trying to get DS, but it was so nice to see you looking so well' or something like that.

But at the moment I think I would choke on it.

On non-food treats- I always think I will treat myself to a facial, but then think I cannot justify the expense.

chipsandmayonnaise · 14/08/2012 13:52

Tho I LOVE facials. This year I promised myself I would have a facial every month- but there always seems like there is something else to buy! (carpet cleaning) Grin

Oblomov · 14/08/2012 13:58

Loved reading Kato's menu.

Do you remember that after 2 weeks of strict dieting (well, strict by my standards), non crisps, no chocolate, no wine, I had lost NADA. Zero.
Well, after my holiday, 9 days of eating, as much as I could physically shove in my gob, including:
Full monty fry up most days: 3 sausages, 3 bacon, 2 tomatoes, 4 mushrooms, 1/2 tin baked beans, 2 fried eggs, and 2 slices of toast.
Endless cups of tea. tons of crisps, ice-creams and all sorts. fresh fruit salads, salads, peanuts, dinner of spag bol and garlic bread, or steak and new pots and salad.etc etc etc.
Oh and did I mention the 1.5 - 2 bottles, yes 2 bottles of rose wine, drunk by me alone, every single night.

I was also diabetically hypo quite alot, and got through copious amounts of lucozade.
After all of this, wait for it......I have put on 1lb. Yes, 1 flippin lb.

Does anyone want to suggest any solutions to my dieting conundrum?
I am an angel, I lose nothing. I am a pig I gain nothing. Wierd.

sagelynodding · 14/08/2012 16:50

oblomov your holiday diet has made me very jealous!
If I ate and drank all that I would put on a stone!
But on holiday maybe you walked around more, or sweated (sorry) more in the heat or something??

I am having weigh in Wednesday tomorrow-fingers crossed for 1 or 2lb off!

StealthPolarBear · 14/08/2012 16:56

hi everyone
Oblomov, was the holiday good (other than the food and drink which sounds lovely)?
1lb on is fantastic (while, I agree, annoyingly inconsistent). Maybe as mentioned, you walked or swam more?
Have had a good day so far but still not feeling fully back into it. Getting there hopefully.

Oblomov · 14/08/2012 17:07

Nope. I sat down. All week. And hardly moved. Read 50 Shades of Grey trilology and played a few games of boules , and lots of football kicking, with the boys. Walked all of about 100m all week, mainly to refill my wine glass.
I f**king hate dieting, have i told you that before Wink

StealthPolarBear · 14/08/2012 17:09

hmmm....and where is this magical place?

Tangointhenight · 14/08/2012 17:48

So today I've had two pieces of Veda with jam, a salad and ham sarnoff with tiny bowl of soup and two Jaffa cakes, about to have some Homemade chicken curry, after dinner is the worst time of day for me to try and be good, I get serious munchies, anyone have any good tips?

Tangointhenight · 14/08/2012 17:48

Sarnoff=sarnie

littlemissstan · 14/08/2012 17:54

Tango I quite often find that a hot drink after dinner is a good idea - not normal tea or coffee, but something sweetish (Twinings do a strawberry/vanilla redbush tea which is my fave) somehow it fills me up and seems to 'finish off' the day's eating. I also take forever to drink a hot drink (waiting for it to be EXACTLY the right temperature) so it takes your mind off other stuff for a while!

reastie · 14/08/2012 18:27

ob how very annoying

Yes little I have a low cal hot choc after dinner - helps my choc fix and fills me up a little.

Well, feeling really bad as just did comfort eating. DH and I had an argument over dinner re: my new hours at work and his MIL again and I struggled to eat my soup then got hungry suddenly and ate a big pitta and salad in complete comfort. I know it's nothing too bad but that'll make me 200 kcals over my allowance Angry Sad . Still, I did an ancient Jane Fonda weights workout earlier - maybe that will help out

StealthPolarBear · 14/08/2012 18:48

:( reastie
hat is your allowance? I am about 100 cals over today but am fine with that - the odd hundred or two over isn't going to make a huge difference. What worries me is the temptation to keep going.

TheLightPassenger · 14/08/2012 18:56

exactly, stealth. a few hundred cals is neither here nor there. don't go into fail binge eat vicious circle. have your hot choc as usual

StealthPolarBear · 14/08/2012 19:01

I have just realised my thighs no longer rub together at the top :)

fivegomadindorset · 14/08/2012 19:02

Evening all, sorry I leave for work just after seven so miss out on the morning chat.

Hope everyone is OK today.

The odd day over your allowance is absolutely fine in my book.

My week is going well, pointing out everything seems to have me back on track, crab and chilli linguine tonight.

Oblomov sounds like my type of holiday.

MilkshakeMaker · 14/08/2012 19:30

Surely if you are meant to have 2000 and mfp is suggesting 1200 but you go over by 200 you would still be technically under cals?

On second thoughts don't answer or I'll know I'll have a fall back, but that's how I l always thought of it

InMySpareTime · 14/08/2012 19:33

I made falafel and baked lean meatballs for dinner, with pitta bread, green salad and lime. Everybody liked it, and DS had seconds of salad!
The odd over day is not a disaster, it's easily balanced with an under day or exercise.
