Would completely depend on where the weight is carried but u would guess (based on me!) at around a 14

Yeah it can vary massively. When I was 12 stone I was a 12 on my lower half and a 14 up top, but it also depends on which shop you are buying from!

Before I lost weight thanks to biwi's low carb Bootcamper I was exactly 12 stone and am 5'7" and was a 16. There was no way a 14 would fit.

I'm 5"6 and 9st 10 atm - I'm a 10/12. If I was to gain 2 stone I'd surely go up 2 dress sizes.

Body shapes can be so different so it can be hard to generalise. I'm an inch taller at 5'7 and mostly wear a 12 (depending on shop). I am never believed when I say that I weigh 12 stone and get told there's no way I can weigh more than 10 stone. But my bones are sturdy and I carry both heavy muscle and some fat so am quite 'solid'!

I think it totally depends on body shape - I'm an inch shorter at 5'5" and weigh about 13.5 stone and I'm a size 14-16 (mostly 14 on bottom, 16 on top because I have mahoosive boobs). When I eventually get to 12 stone I would like to be a size 12.

FYI I have lost almost 2 stone but only dropped one dress size. Its bloody disheartening :(

These threads always illustrate the massive range of weights and sizes that people are. It's no surprise - we are all massively different shapes.

I am also 5'5" and, at the moment, am a 16 at 12st 12. I am fighting with my baby weight - I was previously 9 stone 10 and a size 10/12. I am working on it.

I can never comprehend these threads. I'm 5'6, 9 stone on the dot (I know this, cos it's my goal weight and I;m here at last), and a size 12. Maybe, in a generous brand, a 10 on the bottom. A stone more and I;m easily a 14.

Ah - When I was 9 stone in my teens, I was just a 12 at a push. Now I'm easily a 10 at that weight. Vanity sizing - that's all that's different.

and, Nightlark, I don't know what shape you are, or how you gain weight, but it goes on really evenly all over me and I think that makes a difference. It it was all concentrated around the hips or the middle, then the gain would show faster. The fact that the weight goes on bits like my calves, arms, fingers, neck, boobs...everywhere makes the rise in dress sizes slower - does that make sense?

I'm five nine and a stone heavier, a 14/16. So I'd say about the same size.

for me at 5.6 a 14/16.

I'm 5ft 7in so only an inch taller, 12st exactly and a size 12. Though I have also been a size 14 at exactly the same weight a year ago (lost no weight but lost a dress-size!) as I've been exercising more and toned things up a bit.

I'm 5ft 6ins and 11st 8. Size 16 top size 14 bottom. It's all in the distribution.

Depends how fit she is as well. I'm the same height and weight as Jessica Ennis but I don't look anything like her as muscle is heavier than fat , she's probably at least one dresss size smaller than me
