Well, week 15 of Bootcamp has just ended. But the support and banter will continue! I, for one, am carrying on for the next couple of weeks until my holiday, in the hope that I can drop another pound or so before I go.

There have been some brilliant losses in the last two weeks, so I'm hoping that you'll all be sticking with it too!

Hi Turkey boots - I would go Indian all the way. A good choice is fish tikka, or a "dryish" dish, and cauliflower bhaji, and sag paneer. Obviously no poppadoms, naan or rice.

So my lunch was blimmin lovely - not sure BOTH chicken breasts wrapped in cheese and bacon were strictly necessary but the whole packet was 0.4g of carbs! Rude not to I thought. Grin served with salad leaves and full fat mayo Biwi, to up my fat.

turkeyboots · 31/07/2012 13:47

Thanks, will have to venure into new parts of the menu!

fufulina · 31/07/2012 13:53

Hello, so busy counting carbs for today - avocado? I have been using MFP and that said 24g for an avocado! But it is on the allowed list? Very confused if anyone can help?

Lorelilee · 31/07/2012 14:07

Oh god Fufulina - I hope not, I had 3 last week!

emmak86 · 31/07/2012 14:44

Hi all.. How are we all doing without the bootcamp?
I myself am still going but i havent moved feom 89.1 kilos in last 3 days and i think its because i have drunk enough and have ended up skipping meals a few times which is definitely a no no!

So from now on im going to make sure i eat regularly even if its just a couple of bites! And drink plenty :)

Ive got some pork belly slices waiting to be cooked for me tonight... Yum!

emmak86 · 31/07/2012 15:21

hazchem · 31/07/2012 15:53

Hello my name is Hazchem and I think I might be a low carber!

I've been attending WW (am I allowed to say this here?) for about 6 years! I've gone from a size 20 to a size 12 and back to a size 20 (during pregnancy) and am now back at a 14.

I think I want to low carb because my chin has been covered in huge cysts and my teeth are being eroded by fruit acid. On my Dentists advice I've gone down to one piece of fruit in the morning.

On Dr Google's Grin advice I've cut out milk (but not other dairy) and wheat. I've been doing this for a week and my skin is looking loads better. I feel lighter and with more energy and will weight tonight (at WW cause I don't have scales).

I brought Briffa's book today and am going to have a good read over the next day or two.

tartiflette · 31/07/2012 15:55

Thanks Jin and TooImmature for thoughts. We go on Thursday so most sensible approach is probably to try and maintain between now and end of hols. I won't take scales but am I allowed a tape measure? Grin
I know BMI 22.5 sounds ok but honestly am still riddled with flab despite overall impression being reasonably slim. It's not loose skin, it's actual fat. Am being picky but since it is no hardship at all to eat this way, might as well aim for ideal rather than good enough. (Well ideal's a bit optimistic but you know what you mean).

Badvoc I have two year old twins so do sympathise with the issues there, BUT I actually find this woe makes life easier as I simply don't get hungry during the day (though I do always eat lunch due to being a greedy bastard) and don't have the highs/crashes associated with refined carbs and sugar. Feel more in control. Why don't you do Bootcamp Light (but lose the fruit - honestly!)

TeamGBIWI · 31/07/2012 15:59

Re avocado - a few answers here

I think the thing with avocado is that although it's relatively low carbs per gram, it's a dense fruit, and so you end up eating a lot of it in a 'portion'.

Probably best to weigh it on that basis!

Welcome, hazchem Smile

goddess - I really like those Tesco chicken breasts as well - always have them in the freezer for days when I'm too tired to think of creating something myself! The steaks with peppercorn sauce are good too. Waitrose do some good ones too - pork escalopes with gruyere, Italian meatloaf wrapped in prosciutto... I used to feel a bit guilty about using pre-prepared food now and again but Briffa says it's ok Wink

My sashimi was lovely. I did have one of ds's crispy duck futomaki - couldn't see it go to waste! But it's about a teaspoon of rice so I doubt it's done too much damage...

Dinner tonight is spag bol without the spag. I'll replace the pasta with shredded cabbage, probably, or may just have it alone. Yum! Might also have a square or two of Divine 70% with raspberries if I feel so inclined.

Willie - you can call me what you like! Grin

MsFanackerPants · 31/07/2012 17:06

I'm not hardcore, but so far reducing carbs has helped me lose 7lb in under two weeks. And I have not been exercising due to nasty impetigo ruining my life face which makes being sweaty painful.

I'd set a goal of 10lb by the 9th Sept (friends' wedding) but I think it's going to be much more than that. Hooray!

MsFanackerPants · 31/07/2012 17:07

Oh and DP wants you to know he's lost 5lb, and he isn't at all hardcore, he's just stopped having sandwiches and pitta bread/

TeamGBIWI · 31/07/2012 17:21

Well done both of you!

Hi everyone I've been lurking and low carbing over the past couple of weeks. For me it's not so much for weight management as blood sugar management as I have type 1 diabetes. So far I'm thrilled with the results and have really reduced the instances of my blood sugar 'spiking' at high levels. So thanks BIWI and all the low-carbers!

I'm in charge of producing a picnic for tomorrow so am trying to think up some good low carb stuff. So far I'm going to make scotch eggs (no breadcrumbs obviously!), and I'd like to involve smoked salmon in some way ... any ideas how to do this short of just eating it out of the packet which I don't think is very dignified?!

Badvoc · 31/07/2012 17:35

I am pretty tired atm (recovering from being anaemic and back surgery 2 months ago) and my kids are driving me INSANE and it's only week 3 :(
It's hard to sit down and eat a good breakfast and lunch as they are withe and I am sorting them out all the time.
Been naughty today.
Pil brought me back loads of choc from a far eastern holiday...cadburys. Didn't know about the diet! He was very hurt I wasn't going to eat any so to keep things sweet I had a few squares....it was horrid...really didn't enjoy it all and instead of thinking oh bugger it and pigging out I have had a ham salad and some dark choc for dinner.
I am cross with myself and I hope I haven't sne to much damage :(

WillieWaggledagger · 31/07/2012 17:35

Welcome esker - so pleased this Woe is working well for you!

How about smoked salmon pâté )(with celery and cucumber sticks)?

WillieWaggledagger · 31/07/2012 17:37

Don't be hard on yourself badvoc - these hthings happen and you got straight back on the wagon which is the hardest part

TeamGBIWI · 31/07/2012 17:44

Well done for the damage limitation! Sorry you're feeling rubbish Sad

As Willie says, these things do happen, so don't beat yourself up about it.

Esker - welcome! How about making rolls of smoked salmon stuffed with cream cheese and black pepper?

OP posts:
Badvoc · 31/07/2012 17:55

Thanks.
Am just annoyed. I should have just said no. But he is the sort that frowns in diets and healthy eating iykwim?
Shocked at how horrible it was tbh...didn't enjoy it all.
AF has arrived too so that may have something to do who my foul mood today :)

TeamGBIWI · 31/07/2012 18:11

Sometimes you just have to go with the flow. But you can take heart from the fact that you didn't enjoy it! Makes it easier to resist next time.

Badvoc · 31/07/2012 18:16

True.
It was all...greasy...ugh...

emmak86 · 31/07/2012 18:46

Finbar · 31/07/2012 19:49

Yes to the spreadsheet please!

B- omelette
Snack - mini babybel
Lunch - Quorn roast chicken pieces and salad
Dinner - Lemon sole, courgettes, mushrooms and broccoli with a lovely dob of butter

Thegoddessblossom · 31/07/2012 19:49

Dentist decided to aid in my weight loss campaign by removing my tooth instead of filling it. Hmm So am having a compensatory gin.

It may not surprise you to learn that after eating 2 adult size portions of chicken for lunch I am not remotely hungry. Swallowing blood helps with that too. (sorry TMI)

Prawn curry a la DH tonight.
