Well, week 15 of Bootcamp has just ended. But the support and banter will continue! I, for one, am carrying on for the next couple of weeks until my holiday, in the hope that I can drop another pound or so before I go.

There have been some brilliant losses in the last two weeks, so I'm hoping that you'll all be sticking with it too!

Moooorning Smile

Just sitting in the garden before it gets too hot :)

Brunch today was 2 bacon, 2 eggs scrambled and mushroom!

Im planning on snacking on some chicken later to make up for the no breaky.
Just going to have a peek at BIWI'S link x

emmak86 · 10/08/2012 12:15

Interesting indeed BIWI Smile

captainmummy · 10/08/2012 13:04

BIWI - have a great holiday (like you need me to tell you!)

How about a bootcamp thread, where you can put breakfast ideas, lunch ideas, diner ideas? I mean along with the list of allowed foods. I cant be the only person having 3egg omellettes every day for breakfst?

I know people post other ideas on here, but there are still people coming on asking for menu ideas, shopping ideas etc.

Just thought you might need something to do on holiday!

fufulina · 10/08/2012 13:37

Morning all,

Sts, today, althought AF has made an appearance for the first time since DD2. Isn't there a theory about fat cells holding oestrogen as well, so when you low carb, you flood your body with those hormones and it can do odd things? Also felt bloated for the first time since I started this woe.

Anyhow, also have super sensitive taste buds now. Was on the south bank with DDs and SIL yesterday (too fabulous by city hall, with the fountains, the big screen and tower bridge!), and even the fries (that I didn't have!) smelt sweet. Odd.

Also breast feeding my smallest who is 6mo next week. I don't think low carbing has affected my supply, but to be fair, I am a far nicer mother when not eating rubbishy carbs. Far more energy, patience and general niceness. So it's worth it for me, and she's still chunking along on the 98th centile, and her thighs seem to be just as porky!

B. two eggs mashed with butter, mushrooms in butter.
L. Left over nigella Spanish chicken (delicious, from her kitchen book), with green salad, avocado and mayo plus a few brazil nuts
D curry night, so Sainsburys chicken jalfrezi, just the meat, on little gem leaves with yoghurt.
About a gallon of water.

Have fab holidays those going away, and wonderful, hot weekends those staying in Britain. Am very excited about the closing ceremony!

TeamGBIWI · 10/08/2012 14:01

That's a good idea, captainmummy - but it also reminds me that MNHQ promised us a low carb recipe thread - will have to have a look at that.

Have to say that I think the best bootcamp improvement would be a set of meals or recipes set out clearly. So vege, beef, pork, chicken, fish etc because I find that the greatest challenge to ensuring success.

The tonic water which I mentioned before is zero calories, this is wait rose essentials tonic water flavoured with lime or lemon. It is delicious and really thirst quenching. Only 52p a litre too!!!

Hello all

Weird day yesterday. Went to Whitstable in the camper van as it was such a gorgeous day. Ended up having a Mr Whippy on the seafront (well, it's the seaside, c'mon Grin) and spent the rest of the day in pain. Bloated like you wouldn't believe, stomach cramps, nausea, the lot. Drove home wondering if I was going going to have to swerve onto the hard shoulder to throw up! (sorry if tmi!)

So was it a dodgy Mr Whippy, one of those things, or just too much sugar and sunshine? My stomach is still feeling tender today and am still bloated. I'm fast coming to the conclusion that sugar is EVIL.

Lunch today was poached egg, bacon and cheese on a muffin. I left the muffin. It was the lowest carb thing on the menu! I swear someone would make a killing opening a low carb cafe!

fufulina · 10/08/2012 16:25

Tea, I keep thinking the same! Every time I'm out, all I see is sugar! Very hard to buy a non sit down lunch that isn't just carbs and sugar.

Jins · 10/08/2012 16:43

Hi all. I'm checking in from the land of croissants. All is going well so far as I've learned the word for coeliac and gluten and that's reduced my carbs dramatically. I feel bigger though as I've been eating vast amounts Sad

We're off for raclette tonight. Grin

TeamGBIWI · 10/08/2012 16:47

Bon soiree, Jins! Grin

Well, we do indeed have a low carb recipe section Smile

However, I've had to report it to MNHQ already, because one of the recipes is for corn on the cob and one is an apple salad Confused

Wonder who decided they were low carb?!

teaandthorazine · 10/08/2012 17:16

Really BIWI? How random! Think OliviaMumsnet needs to sort 'em out Grin

Just cooking the leek, ham and Stilton bake from the IPD cookbook, but doing a creamy cauli topping instead of celeriac. Will let you know how it turns out!

Re: sugar in everything, I had an iced coffee at lunch today. I was asked twice what kind of syrup I wanted in it. When I said 'none', the woman serving told me it wouldn't taste very nice, and then proceeded to offer me chocolate sauce on top!

OlympiaMumsnet · 10/08/2012 17:42

Hallo hallo, a happy Olympic Friday night to you all
This is now sorted.
I have removed the apple salad recipe (which had palm sugar in it Shock) and corn on the cob too.

But now the lovely new section is looking a bit sad, - please can my lovely fellow lowcarbers boost the recipe section?
(I personally would love some easy breakfast ideas as that is where I really really really struggle hence I am a bit off the bandwagon atmBlush)
MNHQ

teaandthorazine · 10/08/2012 18:04

Cheers Olivia Grin

Am quite possibly being a bit dense though, cos I can't find the section?

mummyduff · 10/08/2012 18:29

Tea I cant find it eitherConfused perhaps too much sun today.....

mummyduff · 10/08/2012 18:31

So had a fab day in the sun again.

Breakfast - mushrooms and fried egg
lunch - tuna salad
Dinner - LC Lasagne and lots of water

Grin
TeamGBIWI · 10/08/2012 18:38

If you go right ^ to the top of the screen, to the right of the blue menu bar, you will see 'food' - recipes are in there.

teaandthorazine · 10/08/2012 19:00

Ohhhh, got it. Only about 5 recipes in it though, must get adding. The leek, ham and stilton bake went down a storm - even with ultra-fussy ds who pronounced it 'delicious and lovely' - so maybe I'll add that!

TeamGBIWI · 10/08/2012 19:02

I've been eyeing up that recipe for a while, tea, glad it went down well - must try that one.

OlympiaMumsnet · 10/08/2012 19:03

emmak86 · 10/08/2012 19:37

Evening all..

pretty boring day today...and stressful DS1 and 2 have been winding each other up all day, so we shall be going for a long walk to the shops tomorrow i think!!

D- chicken and vgetable stir fry with shiritaki noodles, soy sauce, garlic and chilli flakes :D yummy but messy lol Smile

Thegoddessblossom · 10/08/2012 19:51

Have been extremely brave today with a hangover and achieved alot, gym, packing, ironing, hoovering.

Shattered now though. Am also drinking gin again. Blush

Lunch was salad with celery and mushrooms and tinned salmon with mayo.

Snacks: coffee with cream x 2, baby bel x 2, handful of peanuts (cos I am tired).

Tea is going to be pork belly and veg.

EyesDoMoreThanSee · 10/08/2012 20:00

Breakfast, skipped but filling chorizo sausage at ten ish
Lunch, rest of chorizo, some mozzarella salad
Snack, some waitraose herring
Dinner, baked chicken with salad, some more mozzarella for fat

Have been increasing the amount of water I drink but still not quite to the magic three liters

ohforfoxsake · 10/08/2012 21:15

oh its so good to be back on this way of eating. Today was boiled eggs & asparagus, gammon and blue cheese leeks & asparagus for lunch (the IPD recipe for the leeks is divine) and salmon with roasted med veg for dinner. Snacked on some nuts). Washed the car and the camper (teaand I see you also have one), did all the laundry and put it away, went swimming with the children. Feel great, my head feels clear and although I'm tired now its proper tired, not lethargic tired.

Trying not to weigh more than once a week. Bit concerned that when DH (he's been away for months and that has had a massive impact on my keeping this WOE up) is back it'll all go wrong, and again when we are away next week. But, seaside is beckoning. happy days Grin
