Hi all, joined SW online today and wondered if I could join in on your thread, got weighed last night and starting weight is 12st 10lb, am 5ft 3in so not a pretty sight. Am 50 in February and would like to lose at least a stone before then

Welcome Obrigada

Onwards and downwards ;)

ladyarwenevenstar · 28/11/2012 14:33

welcome obrigada.

pah, missed WI this morning. In the confusion that is my manic cleaning and decluttering, I couldn't find the Wii fit board, and we were in a huge rush for school (inspection tomorrow, so my class teacher begged asked me to go in to do some jobs!) Boys back at school, they seemed OK when I checked up on them.

FairhairedandFrustrated · 28/11/2012 16:39

Glad boys ok Ria!

Obrugado you could have 2st lost by February :) :)

ChocolateBubbleBarsmakemefat · 28/11/2012 17:08

Budge up on the naughty bench Huff

Only 3 more weigh ins till Christmas Shock

kid · 28/11/2012 23:19

I haven't WI for a while, sorry I missed the list again
Go ahead and PM me your address Fairhaired and I'll get some Harissa at the weekend to send your way.

I've bought a new diet book. No idea if it will work but I am willing to give it a go. Has anyone heard of or tried the Dukan diet?
A few people I know have done it and they say its amazing. I believe it trying things once and if I don't like it, then at least I'll know. Personally, I don't see it working for me but desperate times call for desperate measures. 3 weeks till Christmas, seriously?! Oh dear, time to get on with buying some presents I suppose.

kid · 28/11/2012 23:26

(Just checked my inbox and got your message)

SlimJimBra · 29/11/2012 06:52

Sorry I missed WI, been a bit crazy here doing overtime at work the past couple of weeks and it's busy busy busy every w/e up til xmas too. I feel like the woman in "a squash and a squeeze" - come January I'll have so much free time again it'll feel like I've actually gained more time.
Anyway slim has gained 1.5lb this week but is still at target (phew)

SlimJimBra · 29/11/2012 07:02

Catching up on thread news now...
Welcome obrigada :) a stone by Feb is very achievable, even with Xmas in the way, have you done SW before oft is this all brand new to you? Don't be afraid to ask if you don't get it, I found it took me a few weeks to get it all set in my head.
Kid I've heard of Dukan (or seen the book at least) isn't it a bit like Atkins? Cut out all carbs for 2(?) weeks and gradually reintroduce certain ones after that? I'd imagine it works to shift the initial weight but what about the long term sustainability? Having said that it's got to be worth a try, and with only 4 weeks to Xmas every little lb off is going to be a good thing :)

ChocolateBubbleBarsmakemefat · 29/11/2012 07:51

Kid I did the dukan diet, yes weight falls of quickly but on the third week I collapsed and ended up in hospital, not saying it was all dukans doing but having been yelled at by my doctor friends I shan't be going near it again.

kid · 29/11/2012 08:41

I don't like the sound of your experience of the Dukan diet. I'll have a read of the book and see what I think.

ChocolateBubbleBarsmakemefat · 29/11/2012 09:02

Have a peek, it is hard core and also very boring taste wise, it takes all fats and carbs out which i have since been told is very bad as your body needs at least one of them to function properly.

I have a friend who has no carbs at all but loads of full fat products and she is a skinny minny, her friend has lost 2 stone doing exactly the same as her.

The thing with the Dukan diet is i cant see anyone realistically maintaining it, therefore any weight you loose will surely come back once you re-introduce real food into your daily meal plan making it a short time success but a long term failure.

Sorry to be a party pooper, just my experience was quite scarey in the end :(

ChocolateBubbleBarsmakemefat · 29/11/2012 09:04

Slim, you have avoided the naughty bench, but only because you are still in target Grin

Huffpot · 29/11/2012 12:01

wiggles her numb bum on the naughty bench

I had far too much bread...shall avoid it this week!

Back on plan today.

B: Eggs, mushrooms and wedges
L: Jacket spud with beans and salad
D: Am thinking chilli con carne cos its freezing!!!

obrigada · 29/11/2012 14:37

Thanks for the welcome, tried SW before but never really got into it, will probably take me a while to get into it this time but am more determined now that the big 50 is looming, plus I have a family wedding on 3rd January and would like to shift some flab before that.

Like the sound of your menu Huffpot:)

Huffpot · 29/11/2012 17:33

Ahhh ohbrigada I shall have to syn a bit of my lunch as they put cheese on my spud(even though I just asked for beans) and salad with dressing. I was starving though.
And when my mates got a latte I had a tea so am still very proud of myself!

The chilli smells yum and can't wait for the toddlers to be asleep to eat (they're just finishing their dinner now)

FairhairedandFrustrated · 29/11/2012 21:04

Hi doders!!!!

I maintained this week - better than a gain, but would have loved a loss!!!!

Total loss 3st 8.5lb :) am within target range but would love 3lb off to be 8st on Christmas day!!!!!!!!!

Have had an awful lit of wine tonight and pringles

kid · 29/11/2012 21:42

I haven't received my book yet, but after giving it some thought, I've decided the Dukan diet isn't for me. It's not doable as a lifetime eating habit whereas sw is.
I know sw works for hundreds of people, me included, but I am just so unorganised I find it difficult to stick to. I think the best way for me to do it is come up with 14 meals and just keep with those rather than constantly feel the need to come up with something new.

I haven't weighed myself for ages and I don't want to either. Only because I'm afraid of what the scales might show.

8st fairhaired, I don't even know if my scales have that weight on them! It's been so long since I was anywhere near that.

I'm going to get through tomorrow with damage limitation and go for it from Saturday. I don't see the point in waiting until Monday for a new week/ new start. That would just mean yet another 2 days lost so Saturday it will be for me with a fresh weigh in

kid · 29/11/2012 21:44

Welcome ohbrigada' good luck with sw. I advise you write down your meals in advance, it keeps you on track and helps you to prepare meals in advance.
