Here we are again - new thread time! Can you believe we're on our 9th one?

I've been down to DFS and got us some new squidgy sofas. Feel free to add anything else you like Grin

OP posts:
Riadiculous · 01/10/2012 23:27

you could do it again Slinks - private blessing for you and DH on a mountain/beach/under a waterfall. DH and I always said we would have a blessing, but TBH I aren't fussed now. We pretty much had the wedding we wanted at the time, although I can identify with "hindsight" issues with dress/photos/reception - even guests! I hope you soon feel better about it all x

FairhairedandFrustrated · 01/10/2012 23:28

Hi all.

Today food wise went ok til I got home from work. Self sabotage ad it's best. Am disgusted with myself.

FairhairedandFrustrated · 01/10/2012 23:29

B I told you about my uninvited guest, right? Wink

Riadiculous · 01/10/2012 23:38

? FHF

think it's one of those weeks... no way could I put this last weeks food on that thread! I usually feel pretty virtuous about planning more than one day in advance and doing inventive things with leftovers!

FairhairedandFrustrated · 02/10/2012 00:01

Crap crap & more crap is what I ate!!!!

The woman I bumped with last wk (who walked away, got into a workmates car and went to work!) sent me a letter claiming personal injury...!!!!!

Ugh I friggin hate people sometimes!!!!

TomDaleysTrunks · 02/10/2012 08:15

slinky no wedding is perfect. I don't view ours as perfect! The guest list wasn't quite right, my dress didn't fit perfectly, the DJ took hours to set up....I could go on! Try and enjoy it for what it was!

SlinkyB · 02/10/2012 09:03

Sorry, told you I was still suffering with post-wedding blues! (I wasn't joking). PMT isn't helping; am totally irrational Hmm. Thanks for listening, and reminding me there's no such thing as a "perfect" day. ria I was actually contemplating organising a blessing type thing abroad next year, for just me, dh and the boys...but then realised I was being silly. Hopefully my hormones will settle down and I'll properly get a grip cheer the fuck up soon.

DH took a stealthy day off yesterday; anyone else's partners ever do this?! He did mention last week he was thinking of taking Monday off to do the housework, but then we cracked on and did it Saturday morning. Got home at 5.45pm, after picking ds up from nursery (where he'd been since 8.15am) to find he'd just dossed about all day Shock ! I'm definitely coming back as a man next time; can't imagine a woman ever doing that!? (yes yes, very sexist I know). I was a sarky old moo all night mentioning stuff that could've been done (weekly food shop needs doing, fridges need cleaning, blinds need dusting, a load of washing could've been put on, wedding "thank you" cards need ordering....etc), and every time he yawned I was like "crikey, getting your hair cut today must've really worn you out?! Was it sitting in the chair for ten minutes that did it? Or the playing the new Fifa for seven hours? Poor baby...." ha ha Grin

fhf oh yes, your "special" wedding guest, how could I forget! And yes, people can be right arseholes sometimes; I had the misfortune to literally bump into one in my car two years ago too. No wonder our car insurance premiums are so freaking high, with all these spurious whiplash claims Hmm

Riadiculous · 02/10/2012 10:18

not silly slinks, if you want to do it DO IT!!!!
(I am feeling a bit jaded ATM with marriage, what with the shoulder situation, cash-no-flow, idle-bastard-itis-followed-by-manic-cleaning-as-if-I-should-have-done-it, etc, if we ever had a time where things seemed to go right then I would probably love to do something for us, but not a full-on party-type thingy)

uninvited guest FHF? Am intrigued.

how is DD tom?

I have a new thing to worry about (you don't have a monopoly on irrational and hormonal slinksWink). DS1 appears to be losing his hair around his hairline. I know it's likely given that DH and FIL have baldness issuesWink, but DS1 is only 15. Surely it's too soon? And will I look like a neurotic idiot if take him to the GP? (His eczema had flared up, and his reflux seems to be causing him problems again, so was wondering if it was all related to stress?)

Have just baked Nigella's autumnal birthday cake for my Mum. The house smells lovely. Proper party tea tonightGrin not great for DoD

SlimJimBra · 03/10/2012 07:46

Good morning everyone, just realised I've not been on here since dh got home!
Slinks sorry you're feeling down about your mum and the wedding, it's perfectly understandable :( I did LOL at your plan to turn into a rabbit - how did that go? :o
TDT is dd any better?
FHF grr to that other driver, what an idiot. I hope it all gets resolved quickly.
Ria how was the cake? What's in an autum cake?
Jodie - you popped into my head yesterday, how are you love?

TomDaleysTrunks · 03/10/2012 08:18

That cake looked amazing ria. Did it taste as good as it looks?

slim bet you are over the moon to have DH home.

It's the day of doom so PM me! I've had a good weigh in, prob due to the diarrhoea I had last week Blush.

Riadiculous · 03/10/2012 08:31

welcome home mrslim! (is he in the forces?)

thank you for the lovely comments about my cake. I have never made it before, it was HUGE! TBH I thought it was a let-down tastewise. I usually make Tana Ramseys chocolate cake which is lush, but DM doesn't really like chocolate Shock so I thought I would try something different. It is male syrup flavoured cake, with maple flavoured meringue frosting, and chopped pecans.

Damage has been done, but it's not every day a persons mum is 70, and it's at least a month til my next party tea (Dad's birthdayWink). Mum says now she's 70 she can say exactly what she thinks of everything. Hmm, she didn't hold back much before!

school trip today, have made veg sticks and houmous (must try the SW recipe this week - is it any good?) for my packed lunch, though have messed up my intentions by having crumpets for breakfast, and I fully intend to enjoy the company of something chilled in a large glass this evening.

DH has a new temp job starting today, fingers crossed that the place still want him when he arrives, that the shoulder holds out and that all that could go wrong DOESN'T!!! (just once, please. I'm too busy to worry today, and have been up half the night anyway).

Sorry for rambling post, needed to fess up on the gain, just in case I'm asleep / pissed busy later. Hope to start knitting a penguin tonght!

Have a lovely da, and much DoD luck to allSmile

Riadiculous · 03/10/2012 08:32

Blush *maple syrup, not male syrup, that would be wrong!

SlimJimBra · 03/10/2012 12:07

:o at male syrup!! Yes dh is in the forces ria
Will pm you now tom

Hedgepig · 03/10/2012 17:41

evening from a rainy Belgium Oh the glamor Grin waiting for a very very dull meeting tomorrow.

FHF what a cheeky moo! I know you were going to sort it out your self but if she is claiming personal injury then you probaly need to involve the insurance company.

slinky I'm sorry you are so down ((big hugs)) I would be most unimpressed if DH took a day off to doss about, we can't cover all the school hols as it is with out "wasting" a days valuable leave like that.

Ria the cake looked mega, its DS2 birthday on Friday and since I'm not back home until very late on Thurs evening I will be copping out buying a cake from Tesco

FairhairedandFrustrated · 03/10/2012 19:29

Oh male syrup Grin nice!!!!

The cake looked epic!! Glad it was tasty.

Am still loaded with the cold, hope it does one soon, I've now got sexy conjunctivitis too Hmm

Gain for me this week am sure, will update tomorrow.

Yes, all going through insurance.

(dh ie: drama queen now has 'the flu' and is treating himself to a hot whiskey Hmm)

TomDaleysTrunks · 03/10/2012 22:03

Night all

Riadiculous · 03/10/2012 22:46

well done all, esp. hedgeSmile

SlimJimBra · 04/10/2012 08:12

Well done hedge, Choc and TDT :) great list everyone

FairhairedandFrustrated · 04/10/2012 08:28

Aw well done evrryone!!!! An delighted for you all, edging closer to your goals, your hopes, your dreams, and with only 12 weigh ins til Christmas :)

As predicted, I've had a gain this week, but am back on plan with a bang - I drowned in self pity last week, this week I have a "I'm going to bloody well do this" attitude!!

Am also going to bloody well yell @ ds if doesn't get a move on!

I just told dd to make her bed and open her blinds, she says [ib the way that only a cocky 10 yr old can, "actually MOTHER, I'm still getting dressed, only I think that's rather more important than making my bed, don't you?"

Cheeky wee bitch. I said it depends in how important you think all those books are on top of the quilt, cos if i make the bed, they're going in the bin :)

Chocolatemakesmefat · 04/10/2012 10:09

Well done everyone.

I personally should have gained, I have just had the nerve to tot up my syns for last week and it comes to approximately 261.5 syns. Blush How the hell did I lose 2.5lbs?

Going back to basics this week and will follow my 5 point plan, started by filling in online diary as I find that really helps.

Need to go shopping for the right snacks too in my case apples.

The Wii is having the dust blown off it this weekend too!

GettinTrimmer · 04/10/2012 11:33

Hi all, I missed my wi this week as had to visit a secondary school for my ds. A very hard decision to make about what school is right for him

Well done everyone on losses Smile

I've not had a good week. trying very hard and would like to see a loss for next week.

so far today I've had scrambled eggs with mushrooms in spray oil. Apples for snacks. 1 slice of white bread from an 800g loaf.

Saw Nigella's programme and feel inspired by her weight loss!

GettinTrimmer · 04/10/2012 11:39

On the subject of Nigella's cakes, if anyone's tried her chocolate fudge - it is a beast of a cake! So luscious, made with sour cream, corn oil, butter, 2 different types of sugars. One day I will have to work out the syns in one slice!

FairhairedandFrustrated · 04/10/2012 17:35

GT same decisions to be made here, but there are no open nights just yet.

Another good day for me so far! Having roast chicken for dinner - kids say it smells delicious, my cold is still lingering and I smell zilch!! I'd a good steam earlier with hot water and olbas oil, cleAred me for a whole 5 minutes Hmm

How's everyone doing today?

kid · 04/10/2012 17:44

Gettintrimmer, I did the secondary school visits last week and have sent of the application already. DS will be going to the same school as DD so not too difficult for me really.

I totally missed wi again. I'm pretty rubbish with it all at the moment tbh. I was wearing leggings and a long top the other day. DH asked me if I was breathing in. I guess that was a compliment LOL
