Welcome to thread 10 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded support system are:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. So forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry OH NO we're not!!! so come on in and start living your new life today!

I actually looked at myself in the mirror on Thursday for about the first time in two years (not naked but in fitting clothes), I was dreading that bit but it was actually ok, I found some good points (bum and boobs) as well as bad (thighs and stomach).

Yesterday I only ate half a twirl bar and left the rest. Unfortunately I stashed it in my bag and finished it later without really noticing, grr! Should have put it away in the fridge.

Hope your scan goes well faith.

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 23/10/2012 14:14

Oops sorry!

ppeatfruit · 23/10/2012 16:10

Good news snatch Even it was posted twice Grin

Solo · 25/10/2012 16:16

I'm off for a few days. Got a funeral in the west and will be there tomorrow, returning on Saturday. I'm going for a curry tonight apparently with a work colleague, but I think the whole work thing for me is stressing me terribly. Stress = food/comfort eating for me. Will take laptop with me, so may 'see' you all tomorrow eve.

ppeatfruit · 26/10/2012 09:04

Morning Solo it's got quiet again hasn't it? Hope the funeral goes ok Sad DH is at a funeral next week too. Perhaps you need real hypno help for the stress ? Smile

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 26/10/2012 09:38

Hope you are ok solo. Sorry for your loss.I had loads of chocolate yesterday that I wasn't hungry for because of work stress (some people being made redundant, not me luckily but all very unsettling).

Today is a new day and I managed not to get a cake with my coffee at M&S on grounds of not being hungry, so here's hoping my "conscious eating" continues.

How are you getting on ppeat?

ppeatfruit · 26/10/2012 11:52

Thedoc congrats on NOT having the cake maybe buy it for later when you ARE hungry? Thank you for asking Grin I have realised that this WOE is for life and I combine it with eating for health and acupressure which 'firms' you up Grin It's just a matter of habit now. I go by my clothes and a friend I haven't seen in months mentioned I''ve lost MORE weight but i'm the same I think

tb · 26/10/2012 13:19

Just popping in to say hello.

I came out of the clinic on Tuesday, after 3 weeks on a balanced 1600 Calorie a day diet. I lost nothing, not an ounce or gramme. And I came home with nits, too.

On the slightly positive side, it shows that when I've been trying to eat healthily at home before going, I haven't been doing anything stupid. Well that's what the dietician said to me when she bumped into me at reception when I was waiting for dh to come and pick me up.

Oh yes, and I was on the tv as a camera crew came and filmed at the centre.

A possible factor is that I now need to have my gallbladder out, and have an appointment next week with the surgeon, had thought the discomfort/pains I'd been having for the last 10 years were due to stress. Apparently gallbladder problems can affect the conversion of inactive T4 to the active T3, so this may be why I didn't lose weight despite shovelling down tons of thyroid medication.

However, I have learned to eat a lot more slowly during my 3 weeks there.

Well done to everyone, I've certainly found the cd useful, not sure about being keen to take up the exercise yet, though.

Biscuitsandtea · 26/10/2012 19:52

Well I have to say I slightly fell off my Paul wagon Blush

I don't even know if you'll all remember me but I started Pauling in Julyish and sort of drifted off.....

DS2 has been teething for about 2 months followed by a cold so his sleep (and thus mine) has gone to pot. And with it my eating. I just keep forgetting to Paul Blush

Anyway, we had ds2 christened last weekend and I was looking through the photos and, well, I look like an actual whale. Sad

So I figured that I need you guys back in my life and on my 'threads you're on' list!

I kind of plateaued with my weight (at 13st 9 ish) and have just crept back up to 13st 11 so it's going in the wrong direction again.

I'm off to consciously eat my tea. What are those 4 golden rules again? Eat what you like, eat consciously, stop when you're full and something else?

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 26/10/2012 21:48

Well hello all!

Sorry for your loss solo :(

Well tb clearly there's something deeper than just what you consumed. Yikes about the nits! [hshock] I hope you get the gallbladder sorted quickly. Living with those problems sounds horrible.

Welcome back biccies! Well you're back on the waggle as of now! The final one is 'eat what you want'. Some of us take that with a pinch of salt - for example, I eat gluten free because of my IBS, some of us do blood type diet but generally it's if you fancy it.

Well done to doc for choosing not to have cake when not hungry - that's a huge achievement!

I'm doing ok - back on long shifts which are taking their toll. I'm so tired! Still not gained much weight! View that as a good thing [hsmile] I had a second scan Tuesday to try again to measure and they got me as 14 weeks so further along than I thought!

ppeatfruit · 27/10/2012 10:21

Morning !! [hsmile] good to see a few more of you back biccies the last rule is eat when you're hungry and stop when you're full. Another brilliant rule, it really gave me the kick up the bum I needed, should be CHEW SLOWLY even counting up to 15 or more (depending on what you're eating of course [hgrin])

fb good to hear from you now clinic is finished it doesn't sound very successful; what did they give you to eat? I've got an acupressure massage for the thyroid if you're interested .

Having Do you remember my post about the dates the HWs give you ? IIWY I'd take it ALL with a pinch of salt (old experienced gimmer emoticom)!!!

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 27/10/2012 10:28

Yes dates definitely with pinch of salt - I either conceived from sex 4 days before or on the day we dtd?! Ah well, baby is growing and wriggly :)

ppeatfruit · 27/10/2012 10:38

The H.W.s go from the date of yr last AF though don't they? and IME it takes all babies different times to develop. I'm glad he\she is wriggling away it's a weird feeling isn't it?

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 27/10/2012 10:47

Yes according to their dates I conceived 11 days after AF, I didn't see EWCM until two days later?! Doesn't really matter. Got a date of 23rd April but telling RL people 'end of April'. My sister was 2 weeks late and driven mad with all the have you had it yet?! comments! So vagueness about dates will minimise that I hope (not naiïve enough to think some people still won't!).
It was amazing to see it wriggling! Been so paranoid about the pregnancy and seeing it in there waving it's arms around was fascinating! I can't believe it can wriggle that much without me being aware of it. :)

Biscuitsandtea · 27/10/2012 11:19

It's amazing isn't it, the wrigglyness and yet you can't tell!

I'll get this out of the way now then - have you had that baby yet? Wink

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 27/10/2012 11:22

Ha ha! No it looks like a sea monkey at the moment! Lets leave it in there a while longer :)

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 27/10/2012 16:07

Thanks all! Hope you are ok biscuits, months went by when I hated all photos of myself but I've recently had a couple of nice ones that have survived the instant delete. I think Paul helps with that too as I know DH loves my shape (which is fundamentally the same proportion at any weight, just bigger or smaller depending) and Paul has helped me believe that a bit more.

Out for a friend's birthday last night so definitely broke the no boozing with food rule, didn't have pudding (though as I was about 9 on the fullness scale it would probably have been painful!). Didn't have a doughnut at the station when my train was delayed either - went for a latte instead which was still a "comfort" but probably about 200 cals less at least.

Water is something I need to crack, I think, my habitual drink is tea, coffee or diet coke. When do the rest of you drink water, only when hungry or do you have times of day when you have it anyway?

ppeatfruit · 27/10/2012 17:21

Thedoc D'you know many years ago I lost a stone JUST giving up a daily cup of coffee (without doing anything else!!) So I drink it once every 2 weeks or so . I drink green\ mint tea and water in the morning and camomile tea and water (a glass of) in the afternoon\evening. I drink filtered water whenever I feel thirsty.

I wouldn't touch diet cxxx with a bargepole it's shxx; worse than the non - diet 'cos the sweeteners are nasty chemicals that are not recognised by yr body as food! Love yourself says P.M. don't drink and eat shxx [hgrin]

Sorry to go on and on [hsmile]

BigBoobiedBertha · 27/10/2012 17:26

Hello ladies.

Glad the thread has perked up a bit even if we are a bit of a mixed bag this week with our successes and lack of successes (I refuse to use failure because we can't fail)

Snatch - I drink when I am thirsty and I remember - I don't have a set time. I am bad at remembering to drink sometimes so I usually have a glass of water on my desk or next to my chair most of the day in the hope that I will drink something. I don't think you really need to be thinking in terms of set times for water like you might for a cup of tea or coffee. I drink about 3 cups of tea a week though and virtually no coffee, probably 3 decaff instant cappucino things a month, and water is my main drink.

Faith - Glad all is well with the scan.Smile It would be nice if you were further along than you thought but the disadvantage of them making you further along is if you go overdue and they start wanting to intervene before it is necessary because they think you are more over due than you are iyswim. Did they change you paperwork for the new date? Mine was a bit different (6 days I think) but they wouldn't change the paperwork unless it was more than 7 days different which suited me. I think it was unlikely they were right with their scan dates because DS2 was 6 days early with my dates so he would have been 12 days early by theirs and he was already 9lbs Shock

Not having a great week. Apparently I have put on 5lbs this week but I refuse to believe it on the grounds that I did a reality check before plunging into despair and there is no way on earth I have over eaten to the tune of 17,500 calories - that would mean I have eaten 14 days worth of food in 7 days. I may not have been as mindful as I would have liked and I have eaten too much crap but not that much. I am blaming a late AF which keeps threatening but hasn't turned up yet.

ppeatfruit · 27/10/2012 17:33

Nice to hear from you BBB [hsmile] Sorry you're having a bit of a rough time you can just climb back on can't you? well done for being motivated again.

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 27/10/2012 17:47

Wow you are both really good about caffeine. I will try keeping water on my desk. I have mostly given up diet coke as have a little bit of tooth decay I don't want to get worse Sad

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 27/10/2012 17:49

BBB that does sound like water retention, hope AF gets to you soon.

Biscuitsandtea · 27/10/2012 18:41

I'm a bit rubbish with what I drink too. Probably a few cups of tea a week and vanilla lattes are my treat of choice but Pepsi Max is my downfall and I probably have at least a can a day Blush. And I know it's absolutely awful stuff Blush. I often feel like i need a caffeine burst what with looking after the two mini-biscuits Blush. I think I'll try to cut down though. I know I don't really like it because if I ever try to drink it first thing I think 'bleugh - horrible stuff' Hmm

I really need to drink more water or at least squash. I know squash isn't ideal but I'm just not that keen on water.

I've just not had a chocolate bar excuse I wasn't hungry . Bought one for DH and in fact succumbed to the 3 for 2 offer but didn't have one myself. I may have had one chunk of his Yorkie but it's better than a whole bar

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 27/10/2012 19:35

I agree, water retention! No other way you could have gained that much without excessive consumption!

It was only 3 days forward so I'm not too worried :)

I have pretty much cut out caffiene. I used to drink maybe 3 cups a day but it triggered my morning sickness. I have the odd decaf but have lost the taste for it. I drink lots of water. I take a litre bottle to work and fill it up twice. I also chose water a lot at home. I also have juice and squash.I love the taste of it! I definitely think it helps.

BigBoobiedBertha · 27/10/2012 22:51

I gave up tea when pregnant too. It was the first thing that made me feel sick so I just didn't bother for the next 7 months. I didn't miss it but I went back to having it when it started to get chilly again (DSs were born in the summer)

Just in case I sounded slightly dull and puritanical I have the occasional hot chocolate as well (instant variety). I find it quite useful if, for example, I am stuck in the office and starving. It fills me up long enough to get home for lunch, and seems more satisfying than a cup of tea which has to be consumed with cake or at the very least a biscuit.

I also have hot squash for breakfast sometimes too because tea is too milky and juice too juicy!! I prefer something a little bit sweet but not too much and squash fits the bill. I have been drinking it since I was a child. I don't drink squash any other time of day and never have it cold. I used to drink C-Vit which was a nice blackcurrant but they stopped making it and now, after many experiments and a lot of really nasty drinks, I have found Robinsons Apple and Blueberry which is lovely hot. Only sold in Asda and Waitrose these days so I am a bit worried that it is going to be phased out too and I shall be back to square 1. Sad

Yes, it probably is water retention that made me gain 5lb. I don't usually get this badly affected but I suppose with AF being late it has had the chance to build up. Confused
