Welcome to thread 10 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded support system are:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. So forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry OH NO we're not!!! so come on in and start living your new life today!

Thanks, I didn't drink the water, oops, but did decline a pudding at lunch as I had had plenty (not stuffed though) so I am pleased.

I never weigh myself because I feel I just don't need to know, I can see my body and feel my clothes fitting or not, that seemed to be ok as an approach from the book but is that not what you all find?

ppeatfruit · 17/10/2012 15:17

thedoc I weigh myself probably once a month at the most.Yup like you I go by my clothes and the mirror. I never used to weigh myself more even before P.M. I can't bear all my and DH's neuroses surrounding it. Esp. as our scales are in kilos so i sit and try and work it out in stones and lbs. Hmm

Solo brings you on if you are late dear.Grin

Can I ask a question about portion sizes? The reason I ask idmcos I think I might not be eating enough at times, which leaves me starving later on.

This morning I woke at 6am but didn't eat til about 10am when I had two scrambled eggs, splash of whole milk, little nob of butter, some wafer thin ham and a but of grated cheddar on a slice of granary toast. I ate about two thirds of that then at about 1.30 I had a corn on the cob with a little bit of butter again eating about two thirds. I am finding it difficult to tune in when I've had enough so I am guessing but about an hour after lunch I was starving so went on a bit of a frenzy eating three crackers and about 2 tbsp cottage cheese, three mini bars of chocolate and finally almost half a packet of malted milk biscuits.

I am thinking that I am not in fact eating enough early on which leads me to binge once my body finally gets the message that I am hungry.

Sorryfor the essay. Any advice from people more experienced on this WOE much appreciated!

ppeatfruit · 17/10/2012 21:20

I really 'got' this WOE when I started chewing each mouthful of food 15 to 20 times then even an apple could fill me up. IMO & E it isn't helpful to look at the clock. Do you feel hungry early on? if not have some tea and water and eat when you are hungry.

Your body takes a while to tune in properly to P.M. it'll all be okay soon Grin

HaveALittleFaith · 17/10/2012 22:27

Hello all, just to say there's definitely a real baby in there, not just a food baby! :) scan was good, lovely wriggly baby in there! Couldn't do accurate measure because of the angle it was at so back in next fortnight for repeat scan. Ah well, another chance to see it! Got to have a GTT because they measured by BMI as 30 but consultant seemed unfazed by that and said essentially low risk pregnancy :)

Paddington are you switching everything off before eating? No tv/no radio? That really helped me concentrate and hear my body better. It does just take time. It's like riding a bike!

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 17/10/2012 23:32

Congrats faith!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 18/10/2012 00:27

Faith congratulations!! GrinGrin

Doc - re clothes etc I can gain several pounds before I feel a difference, so better to weigh here, although measuring is the best for me. Bizarrely doesn't always correlate to the clothes fitting or not!! Confused

Paddington - I always eat at least a little breakfast. I think it gives my metabolism a kick start in the morning, and I eat less over the course of the rest of the day.
When I skip it because I think 'not hungry', then I always end up having some kind of binge as you describe.

ppeatfruit · 18/10/2012 11:30

Morning!! That's great havea Smile I always remember when pg. with DD1 I was a size 8 -10 but the doc thought I was having twins by the height of my fundus ?Hmm so was given a scan (They didn't give scans usually then) not only was she a singleton she was also 14 days overdue, and weighed in at 6 and half lbs!!!

BigBoobiedBertha · 18/10/2012 14:49

Congratulations Faith! It is always so reassuring to find that there is something inside there wriggling around rather than some horrible illness. I didn't get a scan with DS1 until 20 weeks (they didn't do 12 week dating scans then) so I spent a long time wondering if I was imagining things! Grin It was much easier in a different health authority to find they did do 12 weeks scans with DS2. It was a relief!

Hope you are feeling OK and the blooming has started. Smile

I think, as I have said many times before, that weighing is a personal thing. If it motivates you, do it. If it doesn't or you get obsessive don't. I am currently not weighing and believe me it is not a good thing. I really don't want to know what my lapse into bad habits has done to my weight but I really need to check. I will do it at the weekend. No good weighting for my clothes to tell me. I will have put on a stone by the time they start feeling tight! I need to nip it in the bud before then.

BigBoobiedBertha · 18/10/2012 14:50

Er, weighting? Hmm

Did you see what I did there? That should be 'waiting' obviously. BlushGrin

ppeatfruit · 18/10/2012 17:54

Yeah Grin don't worry BBB it's easily done Grin

HaveALittleFaith · 18/10/2012 21:54

Grin BB! Yes I'm loads better now. The week and a half off did me the power of good. Worst of the sickness is over. I got my first 'you're blooming' today! I definitely look better!

ppeatfruit · 19/10/2012 10:46

Morning All!! That's brill havea!!

BigBoobiedBertha · 19/10/2012 11:02

All down hill to delivery from here then Faith! Smile

I hope the rest of your pregnancy is trouble free and healthy - it will all be over before you know it I expect, especially when Christmas is out of the way and you get to the year your baby will be born. How exciting!! Grin

ppeatfruit · 22/10/2012 09:28

S'quiet are you all away for half term? Morning anyway!!!! Grin

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 22/10/2012 11:24

I'm here. Went swimming last night without actually stopping for a rest every five minutes (more like every ten)!

Solo · 22/10/2012 23:10

Doing badly here atm.

OP posts:
HavingALittleFaithBaby · 23/10/2012 06:42

Don't do half term in this house yet! Back on shifts and long days at that which are tiring me out. Gradually getting fatter round the middle! :) Back to hospital to rescan Pickle today, hope he/she's laid down straight this time!

ppeatfruit · 23/10/2012 11:59

Morning all!! Blimey if you're like this now having what'll you be like when waiting for the birth Shock Grin

C'mon on now sols YOU CAN DO iT remember to love yourself Grin

Well done Thedoc Grin I wish I could swim at all !!!!!!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 23/10/2012 12:12

Morning everyone :)

Struggling here, despite listening to the CD most nights and going to the gym 3 times a week. I'm slimmer, but the scales won't budge which is annoying me. Basically because I am eating too much and can't see to rein it in
BUT - I have been able to wear relatively figure-hugging dresses/tunics without spanx-type pants for the first time since I had DS1! So progress of sorts I guess.

How come you have a rescan Faith?

BigBoobiedBertha · 23/10/2012 13:57

Hello!

Very busy here which is why you don't hear much from me at the moment. Minor domestic crises, school stuff, going to the office, aging parents, course work for City and Guilds. No time for idle jibber jabber. Grin

Seriously, I have been busy and just not on MN that much unless I manage to get embroiled in discussion on something deep and then I come one, read the updates and add my two pennies worth.

Plus sometimes I think there is a disadvantage in this WOE as it is so simple, there really isn't much to say on a thread like this! When we were all starting out or had a lot of new joiners there were lots of questions but most of us kind of know what we are doing even if we don't do it ----

I will try to visit more to remain focussed.Smile

Ali - if you are doing that much exercise, do you think the scales aren't moving because you are better toned and have more muscle? Muscle weighs more than fat and all that.

Faith - enjoy the scan!

BigBoobiedBertha · 23/10/2012 14:02

What a rubbish post - at least 2 paragraphs I didn't even finish.

Not that what I had to say was important but I think it is an indication of how distracted I am at the moment. >

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 23/10/2012 14:03

Baby was sitting on its bottom last week. Today it was still curled up and upside down! Did the dating scan though and I'm now officially 14 weeks :) my bump is still subtle but definitely there!

Sorry to hear people are struggling :( never easy is it?

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 23/10/2012 14:12

I actually looked at myself in the mirror on Thursday for about the first time in two years (not naked but in fitting clothes), I was dreading that bit but it was actually ok, I found some good points (bum and boobs) as well as bad (thighs and stomach).

Yesterday I only ate half a twirl bar and left the rest. Unfortunately I stashed it in my bag and finished it later without really noticing, grr! Should have put it away in the fridge.

Hope your scan goes well faith.
