Welcome to thread 10 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded support system are:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. So forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry OH NO we're not!!! so come on in and start living your new life today!

Cold still here (worse!) despite taking echinacea and vit c and vit d. Ds complaining of sore throat today, but threw him out of the door this morning, even though he was going to be very late. Kept Dd off again today mainly because she didn't sleep for much longer than my own two hours Shock and Ds dragging his feet would've ensured Dd was at least 15 minutes late naughty Mummy but she's going back tomorrow for sure.

Goblin you are most welcome and blimey! well done already!!

BBB hello, good to see you :)

I am feeling slimmer today.

I have been baking virtually fat free cakes for a few weeks...anyone want the recipe? really simple, really tasty and...fat free! not that that matters and it is quite sweet, but it's lovely!

OP posts:
ppeatfruit · 02/10/2012 17:07

Hi sols you do need to take more echinacea than it says on the bottle!! When you say fat free what do they have in them?

BigBoobiedBertha · 02/10/2012 17:09

Sounds good Solo. Is it like a swiss roll type cake with egg and flour and sugar?

I discovered Tesco's do a victoria sandwich style angel cake with loads of buttercream. Taste like an angel cake but looks like a victoria sandwich. Don't think it has much to do with angels though - it is the work of the devil and I am moving to the dark side!

Do we have a moany thread at the moment? I could do with one if anybody else is interested.

GoblinGold · 02/10/2012 17:40

Thanks all. Would love the fat free recipe, Solo. Not for me - my DH is on low fat for health reasons and he's seriously craving cakes and I'd like to make him something. I've suggested the PMcK but I think he thinks it's witchcraft. Mind you he's impressed with the more slimline me. Wink (btw he's never passed anything other than nice comments about my lard curves he wouldn't dare ) Grin

Sorry to hear about all the colds. Our whole house has been down with it. I've escaped so far and went out today to get a flu jab. Can't bear the thought...

HaveALittleFaith · 02/10/2012 17:49

Welcome goblin! My DH refers to it as voodoo (even though I've lost weight and he hasn't Hmm

Can the cake be converted to GF? I tried to do scones but failed :(

ppeatfruit · 03/10/2012 09:01

Havea Morning all btw Smile I can give you a brill choc brownie GF recipe if you want! Tell me about DH's!! mine has started on the combining diet he still ignores the fact i've lost nearly 3 stone on P.M. ( i do the combining diet as well but not strictly).

HaveALittleFaith · 03/10/2012 09:15

Mmm yes please! :)

ppeatfruit · 03/10/2012 09:50

O.K. then here goes-;

200grms ground almonds

200grms. GF flour ( I use spelt or Kamut flour which are low in gluten)

2 tsps. baking powder (you can get GF) or use an egg)

100 gms. molasses

100grms. syrup or maple syrup

100 grms. light olive oil or cooking oil

100grms. plain choc.

100 grms. cocoa

lightly toasted walnut pieces and spices if you like them

rice milk

Method; take a large heavy saucepan and put in the syrups and choc. and cocoa on very low heat melt very gently (don't stir much) add cocoa and oil still gently mix. Add the walnuts and spices. Slowly add the almonds and flour and baking powder with rice milk if it's too stiff. Put in a lined quiche tin or tart tin and bake on no fan 170C heat . it should be done after half an hour but it needs checking after half an hour leave in for another 20 mins. if too wet (it needs to be softish in the centre anyway) .leave in tin till cool.

Solo · 03/10/2012 11:23

Hi all :) don't know if it would be successful GF, but I'd like to know to pass it on to my cousin who has celiacs disease.

1 egg, beaten
1 mug of black tea or fruit tea (black currant or strawberry is fab)
1 mug of soft brown sugar (don't pack it into mug)
2 mugs of self raising flour
400g mixed dried fruit (I use just sultanas as it's nicer and sometimes I use 500g, so more fruity and you can also add glacé cherries for a special occasion (or not! Grin)

method:

Place dried fruit into a bowl/tub or jug and pour freshly made and steeped tea over it and cover, leave over night or as I do, for 24 hours.
When sufficiently soaked, add the fruit with the tea (use every drop, as it needs it) to a large mixing bowl and mix in all other ingredients. It will seem a little dry, but don't add any more fluid, it will eventually become easier to mix through. Place mixture into a 2lb loaf tin (either line it or grease it or IME, use a silicone one) knock mixture down into 'tin' and place on a flat tray into the middle of a pre heated oven at gas mark 3, 170/325 for 2 hours.
Eat and enjoy hot or cold and it is freezable!

ppeatfruit · 03/10/2012 11:51

I couldn't eat that it's too sweet and dried fruit does weird things to my gut (I can't eat xmas cake anymore!!).

Solo · 03/10/2012 12:04

It is quite sweet :)

OP posts:
Solo · 04/10/2012 17:33

Helloooo!!!

OP posts:
HaveALittleFaith · 04/10/2012 18:50

Howdy!

I am going to have a stab at that tomorrow - I have all the ingredients. Sweet is good :)

Pauling oddly enough seems to be automatic recently. I feel hungry more often but I have a small appetite and feel uncomfortable if really full so I stop when I'm starting to feel full. Not stepped on the scales for a while but the only bits that are getting bigger and boobs and belly! :)

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 04/10/2012 20:10

Hello!

Moan away BBB.

AF arrived a couple of days ago and I already feel better. Periods are soooo heavy though since DS2, which is horrid.

I bought the App. for my phone and am finding it v.useful.

Solo · 04/10/2012 23:50

I baked another one yesterday and used a very old Whittards Wild Cherry tea, sultanas and a dozen glacé cherries. The smell ...............mmmmmmmmmmmm! gorgeous! tastes good too :) I'm thinking of baking some and trying to sell them for Christmas. Not sure to whom I'd sell them though or for how much.

Ali AF due here soon too so the bitch from hell will join her my poor kids. Mine are nightmarishly heavy too! egg cupfull my eye!

I appear to have found 'my full' again! I'm stopping instead of clearing my plate; I'm very pleased about that! Grin

GoblinGold · 05/10/2012 01:04

Off to soak some fruit now. I've got my parents arriving tomorrow and it'd be something they'd like. Afraid it'll just be tetley, though... Cherry tea sounds lovely.

I re-read the book the other night to reinforce - I was doing a bit of boredom eating. I do listen to the CD about 4/5 nights a week but I can't stay awake through it. [actually have used it to get myself to sleep if I've got insomnia Blush ]

Might look for the app. But perhaps on Sunday. It's DS's birthday tomorrow and then his party on Saturday. Must go to sleep...

BigBoobiedBertha · 05/10/2012 09:25

The cake sounds lovely Solo,

You could have a stall at the school Christmas fayre (or another school if you don't want to face people from the school gate) because they ususally only charge for the table not a cut of the profits. Charge the cost of the ingredients/electric plus 50% and see what sort of figure you come up with. Are you prepared to make the cakes for that money and would the profit be sufficient.

Ali - I would have a moan but I might not be able to stop today. Not much sleep last night despite being tired enough to fall asleep on the sofa. Hmm

In summary though, as I am supposed to be going out which is probably a good thing, I'm working for DH in a job I really don't like. My father is still in hospital 7.5 weeks down the line and had a hip replacement on Monday as he fell and broke his hip last week. His Alzheimers has got very bad as a result although we hope some of it is just the after effects of the aneasthetic(sp? - tiredSad). It looks like it will be a nursing home and tbh I can't see him coming out. My friend's mother died of Alzeheimer's and old age this week and that feels a bit close to home really.

Um what else? Behind with City and Guilds coursework and fed up with myself for self sabotaging. DS1 was off Tuesday with a sore throat and yesterday with an inset day and was trying to get today off as well - claimed the sore throat was still bothering him so I don't feel like I have had 5 minutes to myself which aren't in the middle of the night when I am shattered.

Result - chaotic eating.

I'll be back later. Hope you all have a good day.

ppeatfruit · 05/10/2012 10:22

Morning allSmile goblin I don't think it matters if you sleep through the C.D. you can learn while you're asleep can't you?

Solo · 05/10/2012 11:31

Morning! I'm still doing well :) which is great being as I haven't listened to the cd in a long time.
BBB :( your poor Dad...as awful as this is going to sound; it seems to me that Alzheimer sufferer's stay young in every way, it's just their minds that fail and so many that I've seen and known of that live to a very old age which is of course, extremely hard on the sufferer's family. I'm really sorry for you BBB and your Mum...
Do try to think about your chaotic eating ~ and I know how difficult that is when you are dealing with other stuff; I really do, but it just makes you loathe yourself even more as you feed yourself that comforting food. Do this for you because you are very important.
Glad Ds is ok. My own is still complaining, but Dd is just complaining about feeling sick after eating but I think that may be linked to seeing a boy at school throw up over his lunch 10 days ago, so I'm kind of ignoring it as she's nearly better from the throat and cold/cough etc. I'm full of it though! not sure where it comes from! I could blow my nose continuously for an hour I think!!

Does anyone want me to start a new moany thread? I have much to moan about and I dislike moaning on here; I know it's all real life stuff, but I don't want to put new and potential new people off joining the thread.

Goblin Tetley is ok, though do bake one with strawberry or other fruity tea as it is divine!!!

Pp someone was giving away the blood group diet books on freecycle this week, but I missed them! ho hum!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 05/10/2012 12:08

Morning all. Just back from the gym - yay me! DS2 not keen on the creche though, he had to be prized (sp??) off me which was a bit of a nightmare, but he was fine after 5 minutes apparently.

BBB Alzheimer's is a horrid, horrid disease. I really feel for you and your Mum, it is not going to be easy. :(
I totally sympathise with the lack of time to yourself. I am like a headless chicken atm, and I can't work out whether it is because I'm trying to fit too much in, or whether I'm just badly organised. Is it wrong that I'm considering some kind of childcare for DS2 1-1.5 days a week? Ironically would mean that I could actually spend more quality time with him, but the guilt at even contemplating it is crushing and I don't know if I can do it. If I was working then obviously it would be very different, but it feels so selfish of me.

Goblin - I use it in the middle of the night sometimes if I wake up and my brain is whirling. Works a treat Grin

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 05/10/2012 12:09

Solo - those recipes look amazing!

Solo · 05/10/2012 12:12

Ali it is so not selfish! as you say, you'd be able to give him some proper quality Mummy time if you were able to do what you need to do with him playing happily elsewhere! :)

Cakes are amazing!
