Hello all. So, in 3 weeks I've lost 18lbs. Alot of that is water, I am sure, but I look trimmer, my clothes are loser and it's nice to see the numbers on the scale :) I've lost that on 1800-2000 cals a day as lower calories are not sustainable for me - I like to eat at least my BMR (1600) and then extra on top of that as I am fairly active. I love MFP - so good to see how much I am actually eating and very helpful for me to keep on track. Still more weight to lose (ideally another 40lb though I look good at 20lbs down so I'll aim for that for now).

BsshBossh · 13/07/2012 09:40

Correction: I started MFP on 1st June, so 18lbs lost in 1.5 months not 3 weeks!

skirt · 13/07/2012 09:50

I love MFP too. In 2 months I've lost 21 lbs and feel so much better. It's a fab site - the success stories are amazing.

bexsybooboo · 13/07/2012 19:43

Okay am now proper excited Grin only 9 days and only 4 working days til 2 week hols in the sun Smile. We are heading to Icmeler in turkey and cannot wait Grin

It's been 7/8 long years since we had a proper holiday in the sun Smile it's been a very stressful last 3 years so am being selfish in saying we/I deserve this holiday Smile

It may mean having to partake in drinking cocktails and lounging round the pool a lot Grin

Hoping you guys will still be inspirational on my return as will need MFP even more Grin

BehindLockNumberNine · 13/07/2012 21:29

Bexsy, your holiday sounds fab, enjoy Smile

We are going to Holland for 10 days early August. Am planning on taking a break from logging, trying to eat healthily and re-starting mfp when we get back. Am hoping to be half way to my goal by then so will see it as a little break before heading for the finishing line.

I too love mfp. I have been logging for 95 days (today) and have lost 34lbs (as of this morning). Am sooooo pleased!!

cinnamongreyhound · 13/07/2012 21:32

Well done everyone!

I'd be excited too bexsybooboo! Last time I went anywhere sunny for a holiday was 2003 :(

Feeling really :( today. I feel pretty daft really but I was becoming really good friends with a lady from school her dd is in ds1's class and he ds is a few months younger than ds2 and we got chattig and got on well. Pretty much every time I invited her round or asked to do something together she said yes. Since we went out together in half term she has turned me down for every meet up and been much cooler with me. I feel like I'm at school again, but it's really knocked me confidence as I don't know what I've done and it bothers me that I have few friends and worry that it's something I do. I haven't changed and I'm pretty much me as I am every day. Now I feel more daft blurting this out to you guys!

RGPargy · 13/07/2012 22:33

Bexsy - wow, am slightly Envy of your holiday - but deffo enjoy it and dont feel guilty about anything you do whilst you are on holiday. What goes on in Turkey stays in Turkey Wink You deffo deserve a holiday so enjoy every minute!!

BLNN - Logging is great isn't it but sometimes you do need a break from it. Dont forget to just log in once a day tho, or you'll lose your log in days!! Wink

Cinnamon - I hate it when people make you feel shit. I have a "friend" at the gym who sounds very similar to the mum you got friendly with. My "friend" blows very hot and cold all the time and you end up feeling very paranoid about what you could have said or done to make her seemingly have the hump with you. However, i have quite recently discovered that it's not just me she's like it with and that she has done to everyone who knows her. It could be the same for your friend too. If you've not done anything different, then dont feel like it's your fault. It's obviously her that has issues so it's her loss if she doesn't want to be friends with you. You probably make her feel bad about herself for either her bad parenting skills or your healthy lifestyle (or both!) and to continue being friends with you would make her feel even worse. Wink Seriously tho, you dont need people like this in your life - she's not worthy of your friendship. :)

Shiftinglard · 13/07/2012 23:12

Cinnamon, really don't see this as a reflection on you. Since being a community nurse, you get to realise all sorts of things go on behind closed doors, and people have all sorts of hang ups that affect their interactions. She could have a controlling husband/friend/family, bad experiences of close friends, be socially inept, maybe she just didn't gel with you, which categorically is not your fault, but hers for handling it poorly.

You are an inspiration and great support to everyone on here, you never have a bad or bitchy word to say about anyone. If you are te same in RL then that silly woman has missed out.

aliciaflorrick · 14/07/2012 06:07

Bexy I'm on holiday in turkey right now and it's very hot. Icmeler is lovely but were currently in kusadasi. Efes beer has been my downfall together with ice cream. I'm still logging on Mfp but I'm way over 1200 cals a day. I'll worry about that when I get home. Have a great holiday.

bexsybooboo · 14/07/2012 08:12

Thanx guys am on countdown and can guarantee this next week will drag by so slowly Sad but there is light at the end of the tunnel. Considering we booked it a year ago am sure I can do one more week.

cinnamon pretty much ditto what the others have said. I have 1 good friend who I can say anything to and the others are more work friends who I get on with but socialise rarely with. Sometimes I look at others and listen to the. Saying about their friends and think god I am quite sad lol as social life very quiet but hey I quite like it that way also Wink. If you are in rl like you are on here I agree it's her Blimmin loss and you deserve better mates than that anyhows Smile

You think it gets easier when you get older but I don't think that's true as we are all human with feelings Smile

bexsybooboo · 14/07/2012 08:15

alicia oooo what is Kusadasi like? We are very excited about Icmeler, have read 100's of reviews so hoping they were all true Grin

MonsterBookOfTysons · 14/07/2012 09:17

Cinnamon your friend sounds like a cow tbh. Dont take it as a reflection on yourself :)
Dh and my favourite holiday is to Marmaris, Turkey. Not been since having the dc but really want to go back. We love Efes and the ice cream shop in the middle of the small shopping centre. I will cry if that is no longer there! :o

GeekLove · 14/07/2012 09:43

Hi! I am still here as iateallthebees and am currently hovering around 65kg. Lost 5kg when AF returned but put 2kg back on! Don't underestimate your hormones! Still bfing once a day though.
I thought though with MFP the BM and exercise calories were meant to take weight loss into account - that is BM + exercise calories only =weight loss. I thought that BM only would be a bad idea as you would go into starvation mode.

bexsybooboo · 14/07/2012 11:11

monsterbookoftysons I will check it out for you and let you know if it is still there. We are planning on having a couple of day trips in to marmaris as only next door Grin

aliciaflorrick · 14/07/2012 15:52

Bexy, kusadasi is lovely but we've had loads of hols in Icmeler in the past and loved it. It introduced us to lovely turkey. I can tell you it's 40 degrees here today and the locals tell us they expect it to go up by 5 degrees tomorrow, so make sure to pack loads of sun block, it's cheaper in uk.

The heat puts you off eating so maybe the diet won't be so bad.

tostaky · 14/07/2012 19:17

Glad to hear all those good review about turkey, we're going near Antalya in sept... Can't wait!

Cinnamon - I agree, this woman has a problem. Nothing wrong with you! It is her behaviour that is strange... Earlier today I went to a kids party and there's this woman who I always talk to, she came over to me, chatted a lot and then when I said I was going, she barely said bye... Once I asked her for her number, she gave me her email instead... Still she is always very chatty with me, and she is always the one coming over to me for a chat... I don't really understand why she is blowing hot and cold, friendly a minute, distant the next... Some people!

Well I'm having a hard time finding the fine line between breastfeeding a 7 week old and eating enough... Today, I clearly not have enough milk, my breasts are empty and I don't feel any let-down when he latches on... Guess I didn't eat enough yesterday...
Geek - how many calories are you on? I'm on 1700 I don't take away the 500cals for breastfeeding though and I do minimal exercise (just walking) but I do have 2 toddlers and a baby so I'm quite active!!!Grin

BsshBossh · 14/07/2012 19:34

Geek, my BMR is 1529 so I never go below that due to fears about my metabolism slowing down. I eat 1800 cals and 2000 on exercise days and I am happy with my weight loss. I'm obviously eating at deficit still. I can't eat low calories because hunger makes me miserable and I won't be able to stick to it.

cinnamongreyhound · 14/07/2012 21:05

Thank you all so much! You're lovely :)! I think I'm the same person with everyone but I have decided I will talk to her (even if I make a fool of myself) as its the only way I will feel better about it.

Very Envy of everyone going te sunshine but hope you all have a fantastic time!!

GeekLove I have read a bit about eating bmr calories at least but don't know a lot about it, have never worked mine out so just go by what mfp gives me. There is a thread on here BsshBossh about eating much more than on a low calorie diet and still losing weight, have you read it? I haven't read it all and can't remember the title but it's quite an interesting theory.

I lost weight whilst bf my two without restricting calories so I'd be more inclined to get your milk supply well established and then cut down on calories tostaky. Mfp gives you an extra 500 calories becasue you need them! Babies who are ebf take around 500 calories a day so that's calories you can eat for free :)

BsshBossh · 14/07/2012 21:36

Yes, Cinnamon, I'm on that too :)

GeekLove · 14/07/2012 22:18

Thb I'm not that sure what my BMR actually is but given my hiehjt and build at 65 kg it is probably around the 1400 ball park. Add in walking and I am usually around 1600-1900 as MFP puts my basic level at 1250. Is there anywhere handy where you can calculate your BMR?

RGPargy · 14/07/2012 22:41

I was just going to ask the same question, Geek!

cinnamongreyhound · 15/07/2012 07:10

Found one here mine is apparently 1415, which means I'm eating below it most days.

harrietlichman · 15/07/2012 07:26

Hi everyone, marking place on thread as not been on MN for a while - too obsessed with MFP! Been reading about your plans - we are off in three weeks (and counting) planning a break from logging but will probably check in...I am so sad I am planning to take my 30DS dvd with me to have a Jillian session in the mornings...(dh says I won't even take it out of the case.)

Am clairetwoboys on MFP for any new people - feel free to add me...and just a quick 'thanks' to all of my friends on there - you are truly an inspiration to me every day.

MonsterBookOfTysons · 15/07/2012 07:33

1460.7 so eating my recommended 1250 is good or not good, I'm confused :o

EightToSixer · 15/07/2012 08:28

Can someone explain this BMR thing better. Surely if you eat your BMR every day you will only maintain your weight unless you exercise a lot?
What is the problem with eating less than your BMR?
My BMR is really high as I have so much to lose.
