Cinnamon it is also my thighs which need the fat to go from, I am quite happy where I am at the moment but figure if I lose a little more, when I tone up I will still be somewhere in the 9st category.
I keep meaning to start running, there is always something that stops me.

MackerelOfFact · 04/07/2012 10:15

I've realised today that I've been MFPing for two months - for some reason I thought it was close to three, but no, I'm only just at two. Which is great, as it means I've lost 9lb per month so far, and if I keep that up I'll be at my goal weight by mid November! I have a swanky awards 'do' at work in the second week of Nov, so I'm fixating on being able to wear a lovely size 10 dress and feel fabulous.

On the subject of clothes, my size 16s are a bit tent-like on me at the moment, but I'm loathe to rush out and buy a load of size 14s if I'm going to continue on this downward spiral. What does everyone else do about clothes? Just keep wearing the baggy ones or keep buying new?

cinnamongreyhound · 04/07/2012 10:43

I bought a couple of pairs of jeans (I'm a childminder so don't have to wear anything smart for work) in the smaller size each time and carried on with tops until I got to a 10 MackerelOfFact. I was getting pretty fed up in huge clothes I have to say but really don't have the money to spend on loads of clothes.

tostaky · 04/07/2012 13:48

Re - clothes. I nearly bought some jeans in size 14 earlier, hoping they'll fit me well very soon.. In the end I didn't because DS was screaming in his pushchair and didn't want to buy something under such a stress! But I need jeans/trousers... I guess I'll buy some tomorrow in size 14 even though they'll be too tight...

Re-toning- I'm starting post natal Pilates tomorrow, an hour once a week. I also went to the library to get some pilates book and I will try to do 15-20 mins every morning, before my eldest two wake up...that's my plan!

tostaky · 04/07/2012 13:52

Ellelie - did you get the results for your son? Is he better now?

aliciaflorrick · 04/07/2012 14:38

Twinkle hope you're feeling better today. Tostaky go for the size 14's, they might be a bit tight this week but I bet they're comfortable next week. It's something to work towards getting your trousers to fit comfortably.

I can also recommend pilates, I used to do it all the time before I had DCs and I had a lovely figure, (if only I'd appreciated it at the time). I'm going to try and tape some pilates programmes off the Fitness Channel on Sky and see if I can fit them in during the day.

RGPargy · 04/07/2012 22:00

Hi everyone

Still here but failing miserably to be good. Think it's slightly hormonal as my body still isn't right after having the hormone contraception injection and now i've had the coil fitted, blah blah blah just an excuse ?

I really really do need to make a significant dent in my weight very soon as I've got another DJ gig to do on 18th August and want to look a little thinner, even if it's just for my own peace of mind.....

bexsybooboo · 05/07/2012 07:33

RG you are doing brilliantly and are an inspiration to many on MFP Smile

A few not good days are to be expected especially for those that have already been doing this for longish time and know we are here even longer again Smile

But you can do this, deep breath and then evaluate and plan your way forward Smile if anyone can do it you can Smile

It's just harder at times especially if tired or feeling not yourself/low Sad hope your 4 yr old is feeling better now Smile

Look forward to seeing those great burns of yours again in due course Grin

bexsybooboo · 05/07/2012 07:34

RG ps: don't worry about the excuses, I'm the queen of excusesGrin trust me Smile

OneTwoOrThree · 05/07/2012 12:10

What a busy thread! I'm keeping up with everyone's updates but not getting much of a chance to post (and when I do it's from my phone, so frustratingly slow to type).

Anyhooo, I'm doing ok. Not great, but ok. There are a few treats slipping back in, and most days I'm ending up 50-100 cals over. Exercise seems to have gone out the window too Sad

BUT, I worked out that I would need an extra 460 cals a day to maintain my current weight - meaning that being a little over doesn't really matter, I'll still lose weight, just a bit slower. Nothing to beat myself up about Grin.

I do plan to start being a bit stricter with myself and sticking to my cals properly - soon(ish).

Niceupthedance · 05/07/2012 13:33

Hello mfp-ers.

A couple of people were interested in knowing how I am getting on with the fitbit...

I wore it for the first time yesterday, when I was doing a lot of walking/cleaning etc. It showed I had burned 500 cals in exercise, which it then automatically added to my mfp profile (you can sync them). I thought this was fab as it's hard to estimate the burn of things which are more than normal light effort, eg pushing buggy, estimating how fast you are walking on your walk etc.

I think it would be great for runners too. But it does not log your gym workouts, you have to be covering a distance, not doing on-the-spot stuff eg cross trainer. You still have to input this directly to mfp.

The fitbit website is really easy to get obsessed by - it shows a real time cals in V cals out and tells you if you need to burn more or eat more to hit your weight loss goal for that day. Also it tracks your sleep (I woke up 13 times last night, apparently!)

On the downside, I took it off this morning to get in the shower (after tracking my sleep) and forgot to put it on again. So might be a problem with remembering to wear it.

It is a glorified pedometer, but I need all the motivation I can get and little "5,000 steps" badges and "10 floors climbed" awards are quite cool.

So there you have it, a massive waffle about the fitbit!

cinnamongreyhound · 05/07/2012 14:35

I second what bexsybooboo says RGPargy! You are doing well not to gain with all the baking you're doing as well and you're very active. Maybe try to figure out your weak points either foodwise or time wise. Remember why you wanted to lose weight as well. I totally know what you mean about hormones, at my totm I feel like I want to live entirely off white carbs! Did you get the mirena coil then? A friend of mine is having hers removed because she is a total nightmare once a month and she said she feels like she wants to kill her kids and husband. So I'm sure it can really mess with your eating habits too.

Well done for still logging though OneTwoOrThree, at least you're recognising it. You'll be fine as long as more treats don't creep in Wink

The sleep part is very cool Niceupthedance!! I just got a hrm which measures the calories burned so I have that function, although doesn't sync to mfp which would be fab!

Back to losing after my period, have lost the 900g I put on plus 300g in the last 3 days Grin, 300g more and I will be 9st 13 :)

tostaky · 05/07/2012 16:32

thanks upthedance! im trying hard to resist the fitbit..... then again, now is the moment because im just at the start of my weight loss mission.... i will have to see...

RGP - you seem Really active! Is that why you have a protein shake every morning? Keep up the effort, it will all fall off very soon :)

onetwothree - in the past ive had very good results in upping my cals intake and still losing. I dont have the opportunity to exercise but i walk a lot, maybe you could try walking a bit more if exercising is a bit difficult at the moment ?(though it does take time!)

I bought one pair of jeans in Moonsoon in size 14 (a bit too tight) and one summer dress in size 12 and a really gorgeous top in size 12... Im going on holidays mid-august so i hope i'll fit the dress (it does fit but it looks too tight) and the top is for this autumn... if i keep up my effort (1kg a week in average) it should be ok.... cant wait!!!
oh and ive also started post-natal pilates... im not too hopeful on the toning bit, but at least it is something i can do with the baby (apart from walking...!)

RGPargy · 05/07/2012 22:18

Hi everyone :)

Thanx so much for all your words of encouragement. It means a lot to me :) Feeling a bit flat (and fat!) at the moment. Not sure why exactly - probably because i've been bad with food (you have to taste your baking to make sure they're ok, dont you?!). Couldn't go to the gym yesterday as DD had been sick during the night on Monday so had to keep her off school for 48 hours. No gym at all this weekend as I am on ballet duty with DD on Saturday and then DD has a show that she is performing in and she has to be at the theatre by 10am to prep up for her 2.30pm show. It's going to be a looooooong day!

Tostaky - No i dont have a protein shake every day. I've had one now and then, more so if i know i am going to be on a massive exercise stint. I had one the other day at the recommendation of a friend and managed to do all my exercising on it and not feel wobbly at all. I normally have porridge every day.

Can i ask your opinion girls?? Well, i took 4 dozen cookies into work on Tuesday for a tasting session which could potentiallly lead me to supplying them with cookies now and then. Anyway, they said they would contact me. So by yesterday i hadn't heard anything so i emailed the lady i'm dealing with asking her if she had any feedback but she didn't reply. Today i'd still not heard anything at all from her so this afternoon i emailed her again and asked again if she'd had any feedback. She gave me a brief reply saying that they'd had mixed feedback on the cookies and that she would speak to this other guy and get back to me tomorrow. I know it's silly but i am mortified at the "mixed feedback" because i thought they tasted lovely and have had nothing but positive feedback on them. However, it could just be something like they are too big or too small or not enough choc in them etc etc. So i gets home and tells DP that i'd emailed her again and he said "you emailed her again? perhaps you should get out of their faces". Hmm I got really upset by this because, although he might be right, he really didn't have any tact and could have been a bit more thoughtful about how he worded it (IMO). Do you think i am being unreasonable to get upset/humpy about it? But because i'm upset, HE'S gone to bed with the hump in a sulk!!!! MEN!!!

Sorry, rant/moan over. Blush

brighthair · 05/07/2012 23:21

I've reset myself to low physical activity. 20 days of mfp, 9cm off my waist and nothing lost Sad
Although I'm not sure if my scales are right
I've had a few bad days but weekly I am always 800 or more calories under what I should be

MonsterBookOfTysons · 05/07/2012 23:35

RG I can see how that could be disheartening and I always find men never click on when to be tactful! :(
The greedy taste testers probably just want a second free sampling session Wink
Bright hair, how many cals are you having?
Dh has set some money aside for me to go clothes shopping as I have been living in one pair of oversized jeans for 7 months now! :o
I am also dyeing my hair chocolate brown too, I am determined to look nice after all this hard work.
I didn't want to do any shopping till I got to my goal weight but I can't carry on looking scruffy, it is getting me down!
I can't wait till next week :D

brighthair · 05/07/2012 23:39

Cals set for a 1lb a week loss calculated as 2140. Reset to lower activity level which gives me 1990

MonsterBookOfTysons · 05/07/2012 23:52

Sounds like a good idea to set them down, still a good amount of cals then with exercise on top.
I am on sedentary but have 2 dc under 5 so am quite busy, it means I can put practically anything as exercise, my favourite being cleaning :o

brighthair · 06/07/2012 00:06

Yeah I only count my bootcamp and spinning for exercise really. Oh and horse riding

karatekimmi · 06/07/2012 07:27

See, I've set my activity level to sedentary so I can count all my exercise ( although still waiting for my 6 week check up before I start properly!!

I've had my sister over for a few days, and while it hasn't been the healthiest , it's been a lot better than it could have been IYSWIM. However we did practically no activity, so I'm off to the allotment, and might do a big walk later!

aliciaflorrick · 06/07/2012 07:45

RG I'm sure your cookies are delicious. I work on the premise that there are no calories from licking out the bowl.

Everyone is doing so well, I feel that this week is going slowly for me and at the moment haven't lost anything so far this week. Still I've got a few days left before the official weigh in, but me and the DCs have discovered how to make pop cakes. I fear It could all go very wrong.

ViviPru · 06/07/2012 10:48

Fuckssake Angry

Another week of eating healthily, sticking to my calorie goal, 4 full-on exercise classes and a daily dogwalk and NO LOSS again Sad

Apologies for expletives but this sucks.

cinnamongreyhound · 06/07/2012 11:14

Honest opinion RGPargy, if you took them Tuesday you were probably a bit over eager emailling again but they could have let you know sooner (maybe someone who needed to say yes or no had a day off or was sick?). My dh is not very good at all at working out what is important to me and often puts his foot in it so I know how you feel about that. I think that he should have realised it's important to you and been more sympathetic but he may have had a bad day and just not had the brain power to think that much about it and said the first thing that came into his head! Also don't over think the mixed comments thing, I know it's hard but you can deal with comments once you know what they are :)

It was really getting me down too MonsterBookOfTysons so I went and got a few tops from m&s, 2 for £8 and felt much better. Desparately need a new jacket as mine is a 16 but that's a bit much at the moment! Still waiting on news from your new scales Wink

Does that mean you are only eating 1100 calories a day brighthair? You said you are usually 800 under? Why not leave your activity level at the higher setting and move your goal to 2lb a week and try to eat all of/ stay close to those calories? 9 cm off your waist in 3 weeks is amazing and surprising that you have had no weightloss at all :(

Enlighten me on pop cakes aliciaflorrick?

That really sucks ViviPru, I don't know what to say! Are you weighing food so you know you have the right portion sizes? How close are you to your calorie goal each day? How much do you have to lose? Are you drinking plenty too?

ViviPru · 06/07/2012 11:46

Yep, weighing everything (fancy pants digital scale) and scanning barcodes, I'm pretty religious about it. Making sure I eat plenty of proteins and some good fats. I'm midway through a 2st loss goal. Been stuck at 11st11lb for a couple of weeks now. With around 400 cals of exercise every day, I'm usually about 200 cals under calorie goal (so eating just over, but sometimes not eating exercise calories at all).

I'm due on, so I'm putting it down to that.

My water intake is pretty abysmal too... we don't count other drinks do we....

I'm MissPhirefly on MFP if anyone wanted to have a nose and make any suggestions.

RGPargy · 06/07/2012 11:52

CinnamonGreyhound - I do now realise that i was over eager and am a bit Blush that i'd emailed them again. I blame being egged on by my work colleagues and also i blame my irrational hormones. Feeling much calmer today tho, thankfully. :) DP did indeed have a crappy day and deffo didn't think before he spoke. In the end it was all about HIM rather than all about me lol. Wink
