BIWI's Bootcamp - Week 3 Weigh In - New Starters Welcome!

BIWIWhoMustBeObeyed · 29/04/2012 17:52

So our two weeks of Bootcamp seem to have gone well, with some spectacular losses. Between us I think we have lost enough to make 3 or 4 new MNetters!

It's up to you now how you want to proceed. If you have a lot of weight to lose, or you like the strictness of it, you can carry on with Bootcamp. New joiners should start with Bootcamp anyway.

If you are nearly at your target, or you were finding Bootcamp a bit too restrictive, then you can move to Bootcamp Light - or you could do a hybrid of the two, which is what I am doing - Bootcamp Monday to Thursday and Bootcamp Light Friday to Sunday (which means that you can include alcohol at the weekend!)

As a reminder, or for those who are new, these are the Bootcamp rules:

1.Eat three, proper meals a day
You must eat breakfast. It doesn?t have to be a lot, but you must have something. For the rest of the day, if you?re eating enough food and you are in ketosis then you shouldn?t be hungry. But if you are hungry, eat something. (Hard boiled eggs make a great snack)

2.Avoid processed food, and focus on pure, natural protein as the basis for your meals ? meat/fish/eggs.
Things like sausages, ham, bacon, pre-prepared burgers etc should be avoided as much as possible. Avoid foods marketed as low carb, e.g. Atkins Daybreak bars.

3.Maximise your fat intake.
Fry in butter, add butter to vegetables, eat salad with a home-made vinaigrette dressing (not made with balsamic vinegar though), add mayonnaise where you can (just check the carb count on your mayo first). Eat fattier cuts of meat ? e.g. pork belly, roast chicken with the skin on and/or eat the fat off your lamb chops. Absolutely no low fat/light foods of any kind!

4.Make sure you are eating vegetables and salads with your food ? this is where your carbs should come from.
But choose only those vegetables that are on the allowed list (see below). You don?t have to weigh/count carbs ? this is one of the great joys of this WOE (way of eating), but if you?re new to low carbing it can be helpful to weigh your portions of veg in the early days, just so that you know how many carbs are in the sort of portions that you like to eat

5.Minimal dairy (apart from butter, which is unlimited).
If you are still drinking tea/coffee with milk or cream, try to restrict yourself to max 2 cups per day. You may eat cheese, but only in small amounts.

6.You must drink a minimum of 2 litres of water per day.
The more weight you have to lose, the more water you should drink

7.No alcohol

8.No fruit

9.No nuts/seeds

10.No sugar or artificial sweeteners

And this is the allowed list of veg:

Don?t eat any veg unless it?s on this list, and try and focus on eating those that are under 3g carbs per 100g:

Veg (raw)Carbs per 100g
Mushrooms0.4
Watercress0.4

That's an enormous amount of carbs, NotMostPeople. Shock I've switched to black coffee this week because someone said that dairy can slow down weight loss, but I didn't realise just how many carbs I was having.

SharonGless · 01/05/2012 19:58

Well done everyone on the losses and for BIWI and Getorf.

GreatEXPATations · 01/05/2012 20:05

I second that! Thanks Biwi and Getorf, glad you are bettet

encyclogirl · 01/05/2012 20:20

26 Stone????????

Blardy Hell people, we are amazing!

I have been so good these past two days, and I definitely feel slimmer. I was a stay the same this week but I feel I'm on the downward move again. Might have to have a sneaky peek at the scales tomorrow.

Today's food.

3 small egg omlette with spinach and mushooms
Warm chicken salad with a Caesar dressing for lunch
Pulled pork with homemade coleslaw and green salad with a mustard dressing for Dinner.

So yummy, all of it.

survivingspring · 01/05/2012 20:22

Can I join you? Just had link from BIWI off the other thread Smile

Current weight - 9 stone 11 lb

Target weight - 9 stones (by July!)

Marabou · 01/05/2012 20:34

Hey all!

Just discovered sandwich fillers yesterday, I mean realised I can have them as snack e.g dipping various veggies in - yum!

Today's meals have been:

B: 3 boiled eggs mashed with butter
L: didn't have time to really make anything so had cucumber sticks dipped in cheese&onion mayo (i.e sandwich filler:)) and coffee with cream
D: salad with feta, cucumber, a little onion and some tomato with olive oil dressing and spaghetti bolognese sauce

Have also had a least 3.5l of water

HalfSpamHalfBrisket · 01/05/2012 21:36

NotMostPeople and all those that find it hard to have black tea/coffee - have you tried Lactofree milk? The full fat one is 2.8g carb per 100g, so much better than other milks.

Marabou · 01/05/2012 21:58

Really?!?!! I'll need to get that tomorrow. I always use to use lactofree in my porridge as I'm lactose intolerant and now the double cream is sometimes causing trouble..

BIWIWhoMustBeObeyed · 01/05/2012 22:05

Welcome, survivingspring!

Ta x

WillieWaggledagger · 01/05/2012 22:59

All credit to you Bowie that we haven't lost people. And possibly the fat that we can eat everything dripping in butter with this woe!

WillieWaggledagger · 01/05/2012 23:00

That was intended for biwi, not Bowie!

wow at all the weight we've lost.

On track here, food today was a chicken thigh sundays leftovers with a hardboiled egg and mayo for breakfast. Lunch was a salmon chickeny lettuce cucumber mayo soured cream concoction and dinner was chicken and prawn pad thai minus the noodles and peanuts.

FauxFox · 02/05/2012 08:01

Yesterday I had
B: cold chicken and mayo
L: Garlic mushroom 2 egg omelette and cucumber
D: bolognaise wrapped in savoy cabbage leaves and baked in cheese sauce - yum!

Today will be
B/L: leftover dinner and brazil nuts
D: Curry prawn stirfry

I'm 11.1 today so 3lbs back off in 2 days - hoping to be back to 10.13 by friday morning...

Get0rfMoiLand · 02/05/2012 08:16

bolognese in savoy cabbage in cheese sauce sounds lovely - I am going to make that for dinner.

Amazingly despite not having low carbed (as I was feeling rough I ate mainly soup and bread) I am still 10 stone 5. I was expecting to be on the 10 - 11 stone border again.

FreeButtonBee · 02/05/2012 08:17

11st on the button this morning - lost 2.75 since monday. Mainly stores of glycogen st this stage but also some bloat too. Tummy much flatterthan on sunday.

B: smoked salmon and lemon juice
L: prob chicken stirfry
D: aubergine parmagiana - haven't had that in ages and it's yum.

BIWIWhoMustBeObeyed · 02/05/2012 08:22

Glad to hear that, GOML - it would have been a real bummer to see the weight go up again.

Schnarkle - if you can get hold of some shirataki noodles you could have had those with your pad thai. They are zero carbs!

You can buy them here

Or, if you have an Oriental supermarket near you, you can find them there. They are amazing, and can also be used quite well as a spaghetti substitute.

TheEternalOptimist · 02/05/2012 09:30

Can I join in?

Am looking to lose as much as possible before the summer.

Jacaqueen · 02/05/2012 09:51

I thought I had posted on this thread the other day.

I lost 13lbs during the two week bootcamp and I am just going to continue doing bootcamp Mon-Fri and bootcamp lite at weekends if I feel the need for more variety.

B Boiled eggs and butter
L Avocado and Bacon Salad
D Roast pork with sauteed cabbage and leeks

encyclogirl · 02/05/2012 09:59

Good morning Bootcampers :)

2 boiled eggs and 3 roasted almonds for brekkie.

Amazing how full I am on that. In the past a bowl of porridge would leave me starving by 10.00am again.

Love that bolognaise and savoy cabbage idea, gonna try that too.

OliviaLMumsnet · 02/05/2012 10:29

I need more appropriate food so its not going to be a great week for me
Have just had avo and toms as snack after yog breakfast
What's that expression fail to plan and you plan to fail?>
BUT hopefully can turn it around....

Schnarkle · 02/05/2012 11:13

Ohh thanks BIWI, I've never seen those before. They'd be brill and zero carb is always a plus Grin

encyclogirl · 02/05/2012 11:48

FreeButton

That's a fab loss, and so fast! I was so tempted to hop on this morning as I feel sure I'm down a few already this week. I'd slowed to a stop, but I'd definitely moving again now. I'll stay away from the scales though. Tis madness to hop on every day. It drives me demented!

mummyduff · 02/05/2012 13:17

Hi all, just back from the gym and finally it has stopped raining Grin.

Breakfast was boiled egg
Lunch was a warm chicken and bacon salad, which was so scrummy
roasted belly of pork tonight with green beans

Hi to all the newbies x x x
