So we have survived week one, more or less intact Grin

There has been a lot of cheating along the way - either intentional or accidental - but most people seem to be getting on with it and embracing low carbing. And we have seen some spectacular results already!

As one of the cheaters, I can tell you what you will already have discovered for yourself:

This way of eating (WOE) is an unforgiving one. If you slip up or cheat, it will show up on the scales

I know it's hard. I drank wine on both Friday and Saturday night. But it really is up to you how strict you choose to be - and therefore hopefully you will understand that it is up to you how much weight you are losing.

I realise this sounds patronising. But it's the ultimate truth of this (or any) diet.

Having said all that, I also know that there are some people who are struggling, and for whom weight loss has been very slow.

Just remember, if you have less weight to lose, then your rate of loss will be slower than those who have more to lose. And any loss, even if it's only a pound or so, is still a loss. Visualisation is always helpful for me if I think I've only lost a pound this week. Remember, a pound loss is like two packets of lard! That's a lot of fat.

And if weight loss is slow, or you're not seeing the scales move, have a long look at what you have been eating and drinking, and be really honest with yourself. Have you been following the rules? Have you been allowing carby things into your diet? Have you being drinking enough water? Try keeping a food diary so you can record everything (and I mean everything) that you're eating and drinking, as this can help you identify what might be affecting your progress.

If you still can't work out why it's happening (or not happening!), post what you've been eating and drinking here, and others might be able to help and advise you.

Anyway. Lecture over! Welcome to Week 2. Hopefully you will all see significant loss this week as well. But those of you who have lost loads in week 1 - don't expect to see the same kind of loss in this week - it's inevitable that it will slow down. Remember that sustainable, long term weight loss is around 1-2lbs per week.

And those of you who are struggling, hopefully another strict week will get things going for you! And I also hope that everyone has got through their carb withdrawals by now, and you are all feeling fantastic!

Onwards and downwards ... Grin

Evening all, twit I am bunged up tooBlush not sure why though as I've been eating my greens and drinking gallons of water.

I seem to have stalled at 9.6 since Monday. Was 9.4 on Saturday, absolutely no idea what went on there Confused

Loving the pig 2 twig cookbook, made the salmon and feta bake last night - dh away so I had half (even though it says 'serves 1') and then the other half, cold with watercress for lunch. Delicious both hot and cold - sort of like the inside of a quiche Smile

Tonight I made the sausage casserole with the spinach and mascarpone, absolutely dee liscious.

Hoping to see some movement in the morning. Both on the scales and the loo.

Livelongandprosper · 25/04/2012 18:47

I love the support on this thread! I drank lots of ginger tea and have recovered from the omelette poisoning that dogged me from Monday lunchtime onwards.

I can eat fried eggs if they aren't frilly, scrambled eggs and boiled eggs but a well-cooked omelette is best avoided. I can't think why it should upset my stomach, but it's comforting to know that others have a similar reaction.

I was given two biscuits and a cup of tea whilst volunteering today and didn't like to offend so ate one. My first one since bootcamp started and it didn't taste nice at all. If I hadn't been afraid of upsetting the person who had very kindly made me tea and biscuits I wouldn't even have finished it. Blimey.

Completely bunged up though, am getting to the stage where a stick of dynamite up the bum will be the only option.

KeepOrfThemCarbs · 25/04/2012 18:57

I suffer from the bunged upedness as well, I don't like taking laxatives, and I find that senna doesn't work anyway, just makes my stomach ache. Psyllium husks I couldn't stand either.

However I got some laxatives from the pound shop, I think they are the bisocodyl type, and they work very well. I take about one a week when I feel bloated and they help a lot.

Livelongandprosper · 25/04/2012 19:07

GetOrf I'll nip into the pound shop tomorrow to see if I can get some. Senna is horrible, it makes my stomach hurt but despite the burblings still the eagle does not land. I have had a few sachets of Movicol but so far during bootcamp (sorry for tmi) only two small wrens have landed.

KeepOrfThemCarbs · 25/04/2012 19:10

I have just looked at the packet live and they are called Entrolax (and the active ingredient is 5mg bisocodyl in case they don't have them and you need to get the tablets from elsewhere).

lol at eagles and wrens.

To continue the analogy, I was bunged up for a while and the Entrolax produced an emu. Grin

MNP · 25/04/2012 19:12

Have had to go back to taking my Movicol even tho my veg intake has trebled!

Livelongandprosper · 25/04/2012 19:20

Laughing like a madthing at the emu!

Will try to get the Entrolax tomorrow.

Livelongandprosper · 25/04/2012 19:21

MNP Does Movicol work for you? How much do you take?

Twit · 25/04/2012 19:26

gah, no £ shop around here Sad this is why I eat raisins with my porridge Wink

MNP · 25/04/2012 19:32

2 sachets every morning LiveLong and usually have very liquid motions but that has slowed down tho Confused

smokinaces · 25/04/2012 19:44

Caffeine is my trigger. If I'm bunged up a couple of strong black coffees moves it along......

SharonGless · 25/04/2012 19:46

Was thinking about this today as I too am on wrens

I reckon your body only gets rid of what it doesn't need? Yes?

Therefore we are eating so much good stuff that not much needs to come out iyswim

Schnarkle · 25/04/2012 19:47

andrews liver salts are your friend. 2 spoons in a glass of water before bed or before breakfast will get things shifted. [experienced]

No cheating here yet. Ate the rest of the moussaka for dinner. That ipd book is way out with portion sizes for dished I think.

WizzyBizzy · 25/04/2012 19:49

Evening all. Quick check in.

B: scrambled egg and mushrooms
L: salad which was a bit carby tbh - red pepper, some pine nuts, goats cheese. Bit of Total 5% and linseed
D: will be pork stir fry if I get off my arse to cook.

I am weaning a wee'un at the moment and the extent of my commitment to this thread is that I had felt like an absolute traitor on the couple of occasions I have had a tiny (like quarter of a teaspoon) taste of the purée before giving I the baby.

Whole family have stinking colds and I have terrible back ache at the moment, so need to focus on getting to the end of the week without comfort foods.

Please tell me I can have peanut butter when we finish boot camp....?

KeepOrfThemCarbs · 25/04/2012 19:52

I think you can wizzy - I know that on the old low carb threads people had it (and almond butter). It can't be sunpat though, it has to be that boring sugar free healthy shite stuff.

teaandthorazine · 25/04/2012 19:59

I have to say I'm a bit nervous about the weigh in. I feel massive. I think I might have put on rather than lost Sad.

If only I could have a decent shite way of feeling less bloated

KeepOrfThemCarbs · 25/04/2012 20:46

I have just eaten a whole pan full of keema - two great big bowls. Why did I do that the night before a weigh in? Grin
