Going to weigh in tomorrow, am horribly bloated today so don't want to skew my starting weight. Anyone want to join me? I've been having a rough ride ocer fhe last few months, i lost 3 stone last year, but am half a stone up from comfort eating and i.want ro stop faffing and get rid if the last stone (and a half if i can manage it). So it's going to be tough, like a boot camp from home. I always say i wish i could afford to go on one like the slebs!

My rules:
Exercise every day
Drink 2 litres water a day
Go to bed early, and no later than 10pm (staying up late worrying sets the next day off to a bad start, leads to nibbling etc)
No caffeine
No sugar
Low carb
Record food and progress on here daily
Accep this will be a dull, tough month, but get on with it anyway!
NO MOANING. NO CHEATING.

Right, gunna read up on Zoe Harcombe, might give it a go. Will post weight etc tomorrow.

You can do it zh seems to give people a good start I'll pop in if that's ok I have the last 10 lb to lose I may go exercise and less bread and drink more water if I can

walkbesideme · 19/03/2012 10:14

I want to lose a stone too - I'll join you. Will post weight tomorrow as well.

AThingInYourLife · 19/03/2012 10:18

A stone in a month sounds a lot.

Maybe set a more realistic, healthy target?

thisnickname · 19/03/2012 10:42

I'm in too no set weight to lose I don't weigh myself but I'm a perfect size 12 right now. I will have something sweat every now and then otherwise people will die but will stop drinking coffee, milk, alcohol and hot chocolate :( only tea and water :)

My bed time will be 23:00
I will record the food and exercise on here every day if I can but at least every other day
Only eat sitting down

Best of luck everyone :)

bibbityisaporker · 19/03/2012 10:43

I'm sure you can lose a stone in a month but I'll eat my hat with a side order of fries and a dollop of ketchup if you can keep it off!

Nearly forgot I found this pic yesterday and thought it was funny

foreverondiet · 19/03/2012 12:32

If you do get a stone off in a month, you'll have to stick to those rules long term to keep it off.

BIWI · 19/03/2012 12:34

1-2lb per week is 'normal' - and sustainable.

I'm in week 7 and have lost 12lbs so far, with serious/focussed low carbing and regular exercise.

Good luck though!

Pompbear · 20/03/2012 09:32

Well my scales just keep saying "error" Hmm so not too sure what to make of that! i'm blaming the pound shop batteries, i'll get some new ones today and weigh in tomorrow.

am attempting zoe h sans book so hope i've got it right.

DAY ONE
B - kallo rice cereal, greek yog, redbush tea

L - will be ham omlette

D - fish and veg

exercise.... not thought about that yet.

Losing weight is the easy part for me, it's maintaing i struggle with and how / how fast i lose it doesn't seem to change how i maintain it really. I've maintained a pretty fast 3 stone ish weight loss for 6 months and now i just want to be at target really. Been stressed so lost all focus and been gaining/losing/gaining for the last few months but i'm focussed again. shiney's stone of in a month thread inspired me! I will do it! And i will maintain it too, so better get your hat ready bibbity, but may i suggest brown rice instead of fries, and that you forgo the ketchup? :-)

hope everyone else got off to a good start!

How true, Pomp. I'm really aware, as I'm working very hard to lose this weight, just how hard it is to shed it but how easy it is to put it back on!

bibbityisaporker · 20/03/2012 10:35

Biwi - you must be a sylph by now, you have been low carbing for yonks haven't you?

I wish I could low carb but I know I would fail after about 4 hours!

shinecrazydiamond · 20/03/2012 10:43

I lost a stone last month - between the 13th February and the 16th March I dropped 16lbs in total.. I am now maybe 10-12lbs away from my goal so I shall join you!

I am 5 ft 4 and a size 12-14 now, would like to be a comfortable size 12. I followed ZH for some of the time last month and the rest of the time I low carbed, although as a vegetarian I had to adapt this quite a bit so it's not low carbing as others might call it. I have cut out all bread/pasta/wraps/noodles/rice cakes/ryvita and cereal.

A typical day of eating looks like this...

Breakfast - bunch of black grapes, slices of watermelon, 1/2 a pot of cottage cheese OR Kallow rice cereal with natural yogurt and mango.

Lunch - Quorn pieces stir fried with mange tout, peppers, mushrooms and sugar snap peas

Dinner - rocket with roasted butternut squash and goats cheese or feta cheese.

I shall post daily and look forward to the support. It really makes a difference!

shinecrazydiamond · 20/03/2012 10:49

Ohh Pomp - just had a re read and see you were inspired by my thread of February! I was coming on here to start up another one as it really helped me! So I am joining yours instead...

Do try the ZH - I dropped half a stone in 5 days on that. I didn't really bother with Phase 2 of the diet as it was a confusing blur of fat meals and carb meals and I think the way forward is as follows [ for reasonably brisk weight loss ]..

Eat 3 times a day

No snacks in between - unless desperate, and then have something protein rich, so no cereal bar or sandwich

Cut out white, processed carbs

No caffeine [ this was easy for me as I don't drink tea or coffee ]

No alcohol

It is QUITE boring at times though, have to say... but since the 21st January I have dropped 27lbs in total.

BIWI · 20/03/2012 10:56

bibbity - I have been low carbing for yonks. Sadly I have also been high carbing for yonks too!

MrFluffy · 20/03/2012 10:58

I have just over 1/2 stone to lose after having dc2 6months ago which I know doesn't sound like much but I am really struggling to get anything off, especially being on mat leave and stressed out with the dc which results in picking from the cupboards and "rewarding" myself with chocolate in the evening.

Low carb sounds like it gets results so will be watching with interest..

shinecrazydiamond · 20/03/2012 11:06

I found low carbing really weird at first and associated it with lots of meat and eggs. It isn't like that at all though - although sometimes it feels like a main component of your meal is missing!

It is possible to do a half way house low carb like I do. Biwi, I think, is more hardcore aren't you? I still eat fruit [ would avoid bananas though ] and I eat higher carb veg like butternut squash.

dinkystinkyandveryverybored · 20/03/2012 11:33

Right - am joining this thread now as singularly failed in my attempt to lose a stone on Shiney's thread (wotcha Shiney). Weighed in today at 11 stone - so have put half a stone on since knee op at end of Feb as movement severely restricted and have been sat on my arse being force fed by my mother for a couple of weeks (never good) and plied with medicinal booze by my husband. I reckon part of that is water retention but its a good impetus to focus on weight loss now. Would like to be back to 10 and a half stone at least by mid April - if lower that would be nice but as am prohibited from exercise its unlikely.

I agree with Shiney - if I stop snacking and eat three times a day only and up the protein I do tend to lose weight quickly. And cutting out alcohol certainly helps - am not going to cut out entirely but am going to restrict to weekends only.

dinkystinkyandveryverybored · 20/03/2012 11:35

Oh yes, food today is/will be:

breakfast - hot water and lemon, then later on large skinny latte

lunch - Eat bean salad pot and turkey slices

dinner - tuna steak and salad, yoghurt

Will be drinking green tea and water between those. May have a satsuma or flat bread for a mid afternoon snack.

MrFluffy · 20/03/2012 11:47

I have a feeling I'm going to find out there are carbs in all kinds of things I never would have expected! Grin

BIWI · 20/03/2012 13:05

I am pretty hardcore, Shiney - truth be told, it's the only way that really works for me. (I'm sure my age may have something to do with that, sadly Sad).

So I:

  • do not eat any pasta, rice, potatoes, bread, sugar
  • focus on eating green leafy veg and salad (celery, broccoli, cauliflower, spinach, asparagus are my current faves) and minimise other veg (the redder they are, the higher in carbs they are likely to be)
  • base my meals round protein (sometimes lean, but embrace the fat too!)
  • don't drink any diet drinks; the only cold drink I have is water
  • avoid artificial sweeteners as much as possible
  • always eat breakfast (usually eggs in some form)
  • try and avoid snacking unless I'm really hungry
  • have cut down on adding salt to my food
  • use a lot of butter and olive oil in and on my food, and occasionally mayonnaise

That said, I still:

  • drink coffee with milk - 3-4 cups a day
  • drink wine - Thurs - Sun, although I try to keep this to only 2 glasses per evening (I usually fail on one of those days Blush Grin)
  • eat rhubarb occasionally, sweetened with a little Splenda
  • have a stash of Atkins Daybreak Bars for those times when I really feel the need for a treat
  • have an Indian takeaway every Friday

So far it's working for me - week 7 this week and I'm hopefully about to hit the first stone off.

BIWI · 20/03/2012 13:06

oh, and I have a personal trainer at the gym that I see twice a week and I try and go a couple of times on my own as well

shinecrazydiamond · 20/03/2012 13:18

Hi Dinky - we meet again! I was popping on to start a new thread and found this one instead! I find the short term goal ones much more helpful than the 'long haul' established threads I think.

I wouldn't be beating yourself up about 11 stone... you are similar ish to me really. It's all relative though isn't it? Even a stone or so is a bit of a battle.

Biwi - I really struggle to give up fizzy drinks - I have bought a Brita filter in the vain hope that I will drink more water. I can give up fizz for periods of time but always go back to it. Usually only a can or two a day, but still...

shinecrazydiamond · 20/03/2012 13:19

So... for me so far today

Breakfast - bunch of black grapes, watermelon slices and cottage cheese.

Lunch - Quorn pieces stir fried with baby corn, sugar snaps, red pepper, mushrooms and with some goat's cheese crumbled over the top.

Not sure about dinner yet...

playnicely · 20/03/2012 13:23

Can I join?

Did Zoe Harcombe for a while and lost a stone and kept it off for a year but then fell off the wagon.

Weighed 12st 5.5 this morning (was 10st exactly a year ago!)

Weight was coming off but then I had alcohol, chocolate and loads of carbs at weekend and put 6.5 pounds on in 2 days.

My downfall is alcohol - I have it and then blame it on leading me to the bread bin!

Hoping this thread will keep me on the straight and narrow.
