Going to weigh in tomorrow, am horribly bloated today so don't want to skew my starting weight. Anyone want to join me? I've been having a rough ride ocer fhe last few months, i lost 3 stone last year, but am half a stone up from comfort eating and i.want ro stop faffing and get rid if the last stone (and a half if i can manage it). So it's going to be tough, like a boot camp from home. I always say i wish i could afford to go on one like the slebs!

My rules:
Exercise every day
Drink 2 litres water a day
Go to bed early, and no later than 10pm (staying up late worrying sets the next day off to a bad start, leads to nibbling etc)
No caffeine
No sugar
Low carb
Record food and progress on here daily
Accep this will be a dull, tough month, but get on with it anyway!
NO MOANING. NO CHEATING.

Right, gunna read up on Zoe Harcombe, might give it a go. Will post weight etc tomorrow.

Cheers Shiney - when exercising at 10 stone 6 (and even 11 stone) I'm a comfortable size 12. But as am now not exercising am rather flabby at 11 stone and a fat size 12 if you see what I mean so, as I cant afford to buy a whole new load of outfits in a bigger size, I need to lose the weight to look good in my clothes. Not beating myself up about it that much as I know how I got here - its just I know I need to do something now to put a stop to it if you see what I mean. How did the big reunion go?

BIWI · 20/03/2012 13:29

shiny (or are you shiney? Grin) - I started drinking diet drinks in the evening during the week, as an alcohol replacement, as my wine habit was getting worryingly out of hand. More bitter drinks like tonic, ginger ale and bitter lemon sort of helped to hit the spot better than sweeter stuff.

So far so good, but then I thought about how much artificial stuff I was drinking - plus there are suggestions that even though it's not sugar, the body can respond to the sweetness as if it were sugar, which was worrying.

So I switched to fizzy water. Boring as hell, really, but I know it's better for me.

shinecrazydiamond · 20/03/2012 13:36

It's shiney - deliberate misspelling for the pedants Grin

I think that diet fizz contains something that stimulates appetite. I can quite happily swig a can at 7am.

Dinky - yes the reunion went well thank you Wink

So what a busy day!

Breakfast; corn flakes with whole milk (only have whole in the house)

Snack; yogurt (been up since 5 and we ate breakfast at 6)

Lunch; ham sandwich

Dinner; fish and chips with curry sauce (I shall make the most of it last one I'll have for a few months)

Exercise has been good today other than my hip playing up now (you'll hear about my hip allot) Well I cut the hedges in our back garden today by hand not machine :) took two hours to do first cut since June and its a big garden, I ran up and down the stairs 10 times will up it by one a day, ran around after my three year old and one year old and we wore going to go for a little walk but my hip has gone so we can't now :( otherwise I won't be able to do anything tomorrow.

Will do a supermarket shop on Thursday and refill the cupboards they are rather emptyBlush and get some healthy (not to healthy though) meals. Also please remember I'm not going to be that strict with food because every time I am it all goes so wrong so rather a life style change from normal to healthy and exercise. I gained so much weight with my youngest also breast fed and have been very slowly losing it.

Baby 1; I was a size 10 before hand and dropped weight straight away and then lost more and went to an 8

Baby 2; Started as a 8 went to an 12 to a 14 after she was born even though I wasn't over eating!

shinecrazydiamond · 20/03/2012 18:11

I am having a 'hungry' day today

Have eaten a mango this afternoon, plus a banana and a raw nut bar. Unusual for me to 'snack' but I figure that is better than stuffing 3 doughnuts and a few Malteaser Bunnies...

I think dinner will be an omelette. Or maybe a big salad with feta.

fitflopqueen · 20/03/2012 18:15

I was on Shineys thread last month and will continue.
Generally low carb and gave up bread and booze til Easter (not religious though).

Am only 6 lb down over past 4 weeks but at least it is down, tummy much flatter, trousers looser, now the weather is better will try and get out every day for walk/run.

Breakfast - porridge - half milk/water & raspberries
Lunch - salad with egg and feta
snacks - almonds, had 1 litre of water so far, along with tea x 3.
Dinner - bit of a mystery at the moment - have some fish & spinach in freezer.

Hi there
I weighed in this morning at 10 st 13lbs. I want to hit 10 stone again.
Today I feel I have eaten far too much for the small amount of exercise I have done, but feel good as I didn't snack between meals at all.
Toad in the hole for supper but it was a small portion and lots of broccoli.
I'm looking forward to having to give my daily weight as I hope it will keep me motivated and focused.

It's my sons second set of vaccinations tomorrow so I'll definitely be heading to Costa Coffee for a skinny latte in the morning as a reward. But no biscuits or cake.

Well done everyone.

PuffPants · 20/03/2012 20:09

Sorry to crash this thread but can I ask you ladies which scales you recommend? Need some good ones to inspire/scare me! Smile

walkbesideme · 20/03/2012 20:12

Oh ours are old. I don't think it really matters as long as you use the same ones each day to give you an accurate idea of progress.

Pompbear · 20/03/2012 21:20

Well I ended up at a&e with DS2 (he's fine, I have more grey hair though... ) but I didn't get to go food shopping (or buy a battery for the scales, or do any exercise). I had a few sips of diet coke while we were at the hospital, and I've just had chiken, red pepper, courgette, garlic sauted in a little olive oil and then I chucked in half a tin of tomatoes at the end cos it looked so... DULL!

But I have no idea if tomatoes are ok (ZHarcombe)?

Also, is full fat greek yog ok? That's what I've been having, maybe I should actully buy the book.

Glad there's so many of us giving it a go! I took some photos today too to see how if I look much different at the end.

My scales are crap - they're weight watchers electronic ones but they're so sensitive that any movements nearby make it switch on so it eats batteries.

OP posts:
shinecrazydiamond · 20/03/2012 21:23

pom - tomatoes are fine. full fat greek yogurt is fine but I would personally switch to 2% natural yogurt if you can.

Any scales are OK, providing they are the only ones you use

walkbesideme · 21/03/2012 08:35

So this morning I'm off to our local town - the aim is to do a 3 mile walk before my sons vaccinations at 10.50. Then a skinny latte in Costa as a reward.

Lunch will be a smoked mackerel with a slice of toast.

not sure what I'm going to do this afternoon but I need to go out otherwise I start snacking.

Supper is a roast chicken - peas and boiled potatoes but smaller portions than normal.

I forgot to weigh myself this morning so will post it tomorrow.

good luck all of you today.

Pompbear · 21/03/2012 08:52

Well i weighed in at 11.11 Shock. I thought i would have been about 11.5. Spectacular off wagon weight gain! So i might be doing this a bit longer than a month. I would LOVE to be 9 stone but i just dont think it'll happen so I'll settle for 10.4, which i can probably maintain. I was 10.4 about a billion years ago and thought i was huge, but clearly wasn't.

Kallo cereal and yoghurt
Ham omlette
Fish and veg

Gallons of sparkling water
100 cups of redbush tea

Excercise.... i might unwrap my 2 year old copy of The Shred.

Hope you're all feeling good this morning. I dont miss my morning coffee at all, not even a little tiny bit, repeat, repeat, repeat......

dinkystinkyandveryverybored · 21/03/2012 09:25

Race you to 10 stone Walkbesideme! I cant do any exercise at all at the moment (just v slow hobbling on crutches though the physio has just given me the go ahead to free spin on a bike for up to 20 minutes which is very exciting...not) after a knee op at end of Feb so am going to be focusing hard on what goes into me to lose weight rather than exercise.

Pompbear - 10 stone 4lbs is a good weight and you know its maintainable. Some of that weight you've put on may be water retention. I'd cut out the sparkling water (or exchange for normal water for some of it) as that can cause bloating and I find it does make my water retention better. Glad mini-pom is ok

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 21/03/2012 09:29

i'm in! i did well with low carbing before and really, really enjoyed it actually, however as with so many others before me when i came off the wagon i really came off.
am trying to eat more veggie meals so would be absolutely keen to hear shiney's recipes?

shinecrazydiamond · 21/03/2012 09:46

A ha ha ha re my recipes. I cannot cook so my meals are more 'assembling' of ingredients really. I have a feeling you may know this already though? Grin

I have decided to do phase 1 of Zoe Harcombe again starting today so had a bowl Of Kallo with natural yogurt. Not sure about lunch yet.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 21/03/2012 09:48

no no, i didn't. even tell me your assemblings, shiney. i've got the hugh fw book and am trying to do his stuff, but it's very oily and cheesey so i suspect no use for zh.

dinkystinkyandveryverybored · 21/03/2012 10:04

Aitch - long time no see!

Re veggie recipes I really recommend Sophie Grigson's The Vegetable Bible - its excellent (and not too oily or cheesy)

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 21/03/2012 10:21

i was just thinking the same thing, dinky... surely you have shrunk away to nothing by now?

playnicely · 21/03/2012 11:47

Right - yesterday had
b'fast: 3 scrambled egg and cheese
Snack: olives, ham, cheese and mayo
Lunch: cauliflower cheese (with creme fraiche/dble cream)
Dinner: Steak, salad leaves, tomatoes and mayo
Strawberries and dble cream
3 glasses of red wine

Weighed this morning at 12st 5 so half a pound down even though I had the wine

Trying not to weigh every day but feel the need to see a downward trend - once am below 12st will go to a weekly weigh.

dinkystinkyandveryverybored · 21/03/2012 12:19

Yup - lost all the weight and got to target. Then fell down the stairs holding ds2, buggered my knee, cant do any exercise and had to have an op a few weeks back and back up to 11 stone. Ho hum...

dinkystinkyandveryverybored · 21/03/2012 12:21

Playnicely - you're going to have to ditch the wine to see results my friend. You could either go for cold turkey approach or only one glass as a treat or wine spritzers (invention of the devil) or have a gin or vodka and slimline tonic instead (but only one).

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 21/03/2012 12:22

oh my sympathies, dink. i absolutely WRECKED my ankle in october (also awaiting op) and it has had such a bad impact on me.

dinkystinkyandveryverybored · 21/03/2012 12:24

Oh no, what did you do Aitch?? You have my sympathies too!

Fortunately I managed to use private medical insurance through work to get my knee done (have been paying for it for 10 years so figured I may as well use it) as otherwise god only knows when I would have got the op. Really hope you get your op soon so you can get on the road to recovery.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 21/03/2012 12:45

i honestly just 'turned' it, but according to the physio i have ripped everything it was possible to rip and more. must get back to bikram yoga, that really helped.
