hello everyone!!

well done bibbety!
hows the injury yehudiwho?

still haven't been for a run, its been about two weeks, i know, slap on the wrist.
its been bad weather, visitors, tiredness etc excuses.

but i joined myfitnesspal.co.uk this week. thought i'd try and get a handle on the food side of things.
especially after watching secret eaters. Not as bad as the people on the show, but definitely snacking too much and eating dc left overs etc. it all mounts up.

so far, gone over my calorie allowance, every day, but eating less than i usually do and still under 2000kcals. but have cut down on breads, biccies, rice, portions, snacking, and general mindless face stuffing. increased my veg to help fill me up.

when i start running again i can log my excercise - it would be good to have 3 logged for the week.

anyone else on it?

cinnamongreyhound · 16/06/2012 12:39

Me! I've lost almost 30Kg since November nomorecake (been on mfp since january)! Same name as here feel free to add me. I found out about it from jchocchip talking about it on this thread.

nomorecake · 16/06/2012 18:20

cinnamongreyhound · 16/06/2012 18:32

FunnysInLaJardin · 16/06/2012 22:49

did a 4k run in 32mins today, so OK, but my goal is 5k in 30 mins. Need to speed up!
cinnamon that is amazing weight loss. I have started back on WW. I would soooo like to loose 4st 9. I would weight 9 st then. I haven't weighed 9st since I was 21......! I would be happy with 2 st!

nomorecake · 17/06/2012 00:54

nomorecake · 17/06/2012 01:02

W2R3 done and dusted. Found it much easier than run 2 but am really struggling on the treadmill to get the right pace and I find I can't stretch out like I want to so next week I am pounding the pavements instead.

Not quite sure how I am going to manage a 3 minute run though, seems like it really starts upping the ante from next week. Hopefully in a few weeks I will look back and laugh at the thought of a 3min being difficult!

Happy running girls.

bibbetybobbityboo · 17/06/2012 17:06

Well done Lily but eek its 3 minutes next?! How many intervals of that is there?

I should have done w2r2 today but i over did it on a bike ride and didn't leave long enough after food before I went and made myself ill. Can't decide whether to go this evening or leave it until tomorrow...

cinnamongreyhound · 17/06/2012 20:30

Well done to everyone who ran in the last few days. Dh worked all day yesterday so no run for me, was going to go this morning but he screwed that up too by being an arse! Off out now for a 20 min one so I don't break my pledge! And because I really want to run today, be food to get out been a busy weekend. Glad you found us again nomorecake, any wine involved Wink

cece · 17/06/2012 23:29

well done all you newcomers - you all seem to be doing well.

cinnamon - that is some serious weight loss. Tell me your secret, as I could do with losing about that.... I haven't lost anything since I started running. Sad Although people have started to ask me if I have! Smile

cece · 17/06/2012 23:34

Forgot to add I didn't run this weekend - trying to heal my buttock pain! LOL.

Feels much better, so think I might try tomorrow evening.

bibbetybobbityboo · 18/06/2012 08:02

I did end up running. Found it a lot harder than last time but still managed it. So r2w2 complete :) I can't believe how much i am enjoying this!

cece are you measuring weight or inches? Remember your muscle will weigh more now. I am definitely startiong to feel more toned but keep forgetting to measure so can't be sure if i've lost anything. I'm losing and gaining the same kilo on the scales so far though.

dotty2 · 18/06/2012 12:29

Hello everyone - sounds like it's all going well. I am still a bit poorly - have had horrible throat infection and have felt utterly wiped out. Not quite 100% but much better. It's been nearly 2 weeks since my last outing, so might try a gentle plod later and see how it goes. I've missed it. Or more precisely have missed the feeling of satisfaction when it's over! Have been (comfort) eating cake again and put on weight too - back to the grindstone.

cinnamongreyhound · 18/06/2012 14:01

Sorry cece there is no secret, eat less calories than you are using! I have cut calories down to about 1400 a day, includes cutting down portion sizes and cutting out the evening eating as much junk as I could fit in! I think the running builds some muscle which may make your metabolism a bit higher but I think it's mostly eating.

Sorry to hear you've not been well dotty2, glad you're mostly better and I hope your gentle plod goes well :)

cinnamongreyhound · 18/06/2012 20:25

Went to running group again today, we did warm up jog around the field then relays in two teams, sprinting but with plenty of recovery time, then in groups of three with much less recovery time and running further followed by another jog round the two fields. My arms ache from sprinting but it was fun, makes me want to go for a run and see how I do but I'd be knackered I'm sure!! There is a mixture of those who only run at the group on a Monday and those who are doing 10k's regularly so I'm right in the middle!

rusmum · 18/06/2012 21:21

Marking!

LilyPickle · 18/06/2012 21:58

Has anyone made the transition from treadmill running to outdoor running and if so, did you find it easier?

cece · 18/06/2012 22:28

Hanging head in shame. No running again - went to see ITNG show instead. Grin Plus I have eaten hot toast with butter and jam as an evening snack Sad

littledolly · 18/06/2012 22:30

Lily, I used to run on a treadmill a lot, but at that time I really could not run outside at all. I'd be able to do 30 mins at the gym but struggled to do 5 outdoors. That was why I kept giving up on outdoor running in the past. However, when I started C25k, I'd not been on a treadmill in months. I think the breathing was the issue for me. I know of other friends who were the same but I suppose everyone's different.

I managed to make it out this evening - my first since last Wednesday. DD now has chicken pox, after tonsillitis and an ear infection. I found it OK, but struggled near the end, and managed 30 mins. Once I get back to my routine of 3 runs a week, I'll work on increasing my distance within the 30 mins.

rusmum · 19/06/2012 06:26

Another 3 weeks off!!!!! Omg Sad how bad. So in last 2 months done about 3 runs Blush. Need to get back on c 2 5 k. Which eek would you go back to? Thinking 6/7?

cinnamongreyhound · 19/06/2012 06:46

I'd just go out and see you you get on rusmum, you might surprise yourself with what you can do. If you find you can even manage 20 mins then you can always go back to the plan.

Sorry LilyPickke no experience of treadmills, give it a go on the road and see but go with a positive frame of mind!

nomorecake · 19/06/2012 11:04

rusmum after i had 2 month break, i went out aiming for 10 mins jog, then a recovery walk and then another 10min. first time i didn't manage it, but i slowly built up my stamina again. i prefered using my own music than c25k.
whether you choose c25kweek 6 or 7 doesn't matter, go for it. don't worry about the weeks you've missed, cant do anything about that now. onwards and upwards Smile!

i couldn't use the rain as an excuse anymore, my colds better, i ate bread butter and jam for lunch Hmm and according to mfp needed some additional calories so i could actually have a dinner! so finally went for a run, managed 30mins with a couple of stops. felt good to be out.

resisted all temptation had a good chicken/pitta/salad dinner, and ended up only 54 calories over... phew!

nomorecake · 19/06/2012 11:06

can i just add that cinnamongreyhound weight loss and consistency* has really inspired me!

*not sure if that the right use of the word, but you know what i mean!

cinnamongreyhound · 19/06/2012 13:29

Thank you nomorecake, that's really sweet! I think the word you're looking for is bloodymindedness! There are many occasions I really can't be bothered but I will not give up, I know it's good for me and I feel soooooo much better than I did before Christmas and I don't want to go back.
