Through rain and snow and skies of grey
We will keep running the C25K
Though lack of sleep and time do test us
We wil not let excuses best us
For 2012 will be the year
For weight loss, fitness and good cheer
Nine weeks of running isn't that long
So come on ladies, get those running shoes on!

Welcome to all runners, joggers, speed walkers and waddlers! All levels of fitness are welcome here on the Couch to 5k support thread. For more information see the NHS website

Hello all!

May I join you? I completed W6R3 last night& it felt great!!

No walking breaks from now on it's all about the running. I run on the treadmill at the gym and hope to eventually get out on the street/parks when I am looking a little leaner!

I fit in my gym/running whenever there is any spare time that DH can have the children (6 & 1), mostly weekday evenings & weekend mornings.

Did W7R1 tonight.
Friend still not up for it, and have gone out by myself a few times, but not the same. DH had been out with me a couple of times and bless him joined me for tonight's run.
We did 25 minutes and covered 3.5K.
I have now got him primed to be my new running partner to finish what I started.
I will bloody complete this, only 8 runs to go, even if I'm not quite fast enough (but can work on that).
I'm 53 (almost) and was a total couch (overweight) potato until about 18 months ago!

Did week 6 run 3 today - 15 whole minutes of running without stopping!
Still running very slowly indeed though
Am enjoying it more than I would have imagined, though I ran in the gym yesterday and it was horrid, which made me realise that a large part of what makes running bearable for me is being outdoors. Running in the gym was nasty. Why do they put mirrors opposite the running machines! Why are men so smelly? Why is the music in the gym so rubbish?

I did my first post C25K run on Wednesday. I had zero motivation and was irritable all the way. I have uploaded more music to play list and hope to be a happier bunny tomorrow!

I did W1R4 (I know, I know) today and annoyingly dropped my inhaler so had to turn around halfway through the run and go back to collect it from the floor. I run in a park during my lunch hour at work so God only knows how many dogs had a lick of it before I got back to pick it up. Hmm

Starting W2 on Sunday, hangover willing.

Well done nosey - the first run is the worst I think.

good luck weblette. Dh didn't want me to do the parkrun without him so we are going to go later and run the course together with no one watching!

montague you haven't found the right gym! Mine has no mirrors and I run while watching homes under the hammer :) I never watch daytime telly that isn't cbeebies so it is a bit of a treat Blush. That said, once I can do 20 minutes and it is spring then I am looking forward to taking it outside.

weblette - how did the park run go?
I am impressed - not brave enough to do it yet...

I have finished week 8 now. Managed 4.5 km in total with walks. Ran for 2.1 miles, which isn't my best, but OK. DS1 came with me on his bike, so got held up a bit with technical talk about a strange noise from the back wheel. Smile

It was really nice to have him to keep me company - although he did say he thought I needed to train so I could go faster! Grin

Parkrun was ace - and I did in 32.34 - absolutely amazed at that!! Over 325 runners, I was 265th so certainly something to aim for. Won't be able to do it more than once a month because of child logistics.

Unfortunately I've exacerbated an ankle injury so will have to be careful for the next few days.

jchocchip hope he enjoys the run, spectators or not! NNN hope the new playlist makes a difference.

OO and jenny you'll be fine - you've done so much of the legwork (so to speak) already, putting it together for the long run could be easier than you think.

rusmum well done Grin,

cece - cheeky monkey!

Week 9 is fine :) The lovely thing about the parkrun was how friendly everyone was, all very supportive and cheering you on at the end.

rusman - yes well done on the 20 mins - unbeleivably it does get easier after that one!

weblette - he is only 8 but is quite good runner - he represents his school for cross country so is quite fast himself!
