Through rain and snow and skies of grey
We will keep running the C25K
Though lack of sleep and time do test us
We wil not let excuses best us
For 2012 will be the year
For weight loss, fitness and good cheer
Nine weeks of running isn't that long
So come on ladies, get those running shoes on!

Welcome to all runners, joggers, speed walkers and waddlers! All levels of fitness are welcome here on the Couch to 5k support thread. For more information see the NHS website

Strangely the playlist bears no resemblence to the podcast

rusmum · 31/03/2012 21:16

Week 8 run 1 done Grin loved it!!!!! Covered 3.15 miles with the walks too

yehudiwho · 31/03/2012 21:22

Think I've misunderstood the plan. Last 4 weeks only managed one run a week.... Will aim to run tmrw . Only wk 7 run 3.

rusmum · 01/04/2012 18:17

Would it hurt to miss a rest day?

ManyMomentsOfMadness · 01/04/2012 20:41

Wonder how many other people lose posts when mumsnet closes for a few minutes!! Anyway.....
W8R3 done. I went this morning despite morning runs always being bad. Completed week 8 and am pleased with myself. Roll on the final week.

rusmum I think it depends on how you are feeling and how well you recover.

yehudiwho did you manage out today?? or do we need to track down QRGM with the bottom kicking button?? Wink

rusmum · 01/04/2012 20:47

Thanks if I miss a couple rests I can squeeze graduation in before surgery lol

Cheeseandbiscuits · 01/04/2012 20:53

Am I mad? 5.45 alarm set so I can do w2r2?Smile

jchocchip · 01/04/2012 21:01

cece I like the link, I've downloaded week 9 and also downloading the bridge to 10k - am I mad? :)

trice · 01/04/2012 22:48

Ds and I are still repeating week five. I keep having to walk for a bit in the middle of my 20 mins. Getting better though and my knee has stopped hurting.

OrmIrian · 02/04/2012 09:02

This is an amazing plan! It really is. I used to run 12 miles regularly. I was fit. I had to stop eventually due to various injuries but mainly because of tendonitis in my left foot. Over the last few years I had made loads of attempts to start again but each time would overdo it and end up back at square one. THis time I can feel my fitness increasing week by week and I keep being surprised by how I can do what I need to. Week 5 run 2 this evening and I feel confident I can do it Smile

Cheeseandbiscuits · 02/04/2012 19:51

Did w2r2 today, it was alright. Bit of a stitch by the end. Next run planned on Weds, before my circuits class!

rusmum · 02/04/2012 21:19

Week 8 r 2 done! Felt sick on return from
Both w8 runs???? Odd

cinnamongreyhound · 02/04/2012 21:28

I feel sick if I eat too close to running and actually try to run when I'm hungry these days rusmum, could it be that?

Where is QueenRunningGeekMum??? If you're lurkin hope you're injury is sorted and your ds is gaining weight nicely :)

rusmum · 02/04/2012 22:01

Thanks cinnamon tricky timing as I run when kids in bed so about 8pm

ifink · 03/04/2012 07:28

Well today is the day....I WILL go out and do week 9 run 3, the end is nigh....am writing this to ensure that I go! Am dreading the cold...

BartletForAmerica · 03/04/2012 10:51

Hi, can I join in here? I've been doing this for the last fortnight, so this morning I did Week 3 Run 1. It actually wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, particularly as I had done no running over the weekend.

yehudiwho · 03/04/2012 11:29

laydees I did go out Sunday - bit of a trek and stopped at 21 minutes of the 25 but managed to start again for the last minute - intend to get out again tonight to do wk8 r1.

My sciatica has started again - it stopped completely after week 3 so running does help but when it niggles it makes running a bit harder

Gherkinsmummy · 03/04/2012 14:03

Hello, please may I join you?

I had my DS nearly two years ago, still about 2 stone overweight, and getting married in May so I have loads of incentives to shift some fat! I'm on Week 5, Run 1. I'm really enjoying this workout, the progression seems to be just hard enough to challenge you. I'm also doing the 30 Day Shred, and cycling on the days I don't run.

To those suffering with sore feet/knees - might be worth looking into barefoot running? I'm running in barefoot trainers and have had no problems where in the past I've always given up because of my knees...

See you here tomorrow after W5, R2. Looking forward to the day I can run for half an hour without stopping!

ManyMomentsOfMadness · 03/04/2012 16:29

Welcome to BartletForAmerica and Gherkinsmummy you both sound like you are doing really well already - well done Grin

I went out today for W9R1, managed to complete it even in a hail storm Blush no not blush - bruised!! Liking the fact I should (in theory) only have 2 runs until I graduate Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 03/04/2012 16:59

Welcome BartletForAmerica and Gherkinsmummy! I was constantly surprised that I could do it as I went through the weeks but made it to the end and ran 5.25K in 38 minutes at the weekend!

My last run I stopped yehudiwho and I felt rubbish afterwards but I think it's just one of those things! I hadn't planned my route well and my dog was being a pain in the bum so I just felt I couldn't go on. Hope your sciatica settles down again for you to carry on with easier running.

ifink · 03/04/2012 18:33

Well I did it!! I have graduated from the programme!!!!!!Grin....ok not quite done 5k, but not a bad 4.73k! Hooray. Thanks for all your kind words and support, having this thread is a fab motivator. I started the programme in Oz and finished it down a pretty English country lane, running in the cold is much harder on the lungs but so much easier on the thighs i.e they don't get too hot Grin

cece · 03/04/2012 18:39

Been away again and managed to fit a run in along some pretty Devon parks. Had to stop at 25 mins though as my knee, hip and ankle on left leg were hurting. Hobbled back to my base for the few days I was down there. Still feeling sore so will just do a long walk tomorrow I think.

jchocchip · 04/04/2012 07:56

Well done ifink 4.73k is good. Bet you feel good. Carry on running :)

jchocchip · 04/04/2012 07:57

Run day but it is snowing. I may wait a little and see if it stops!

cinnamongreyhound · 04/04/2012 08:02

Well done ifink have some Thanks, what are your plans now? 4.73k is good and very close to 5k, I was nowhere near that when I graduated!
