Hi, this is a club for people who have 3 stones to lose (or thereabouts Wink), and is a hybrid of weight loss, style & beauty, and getting-one's-life-sorted-ness.

The idea began on a style and beauty thread but we have set up camp here. Feel free to join!

i love exfoliating gloves!

Well i have new jeans on today in a size 14. Very good (for me). I've not been in a size 14 trousers for about 6 years.

blobtobetter · 24/02/2012 18:46

Sat with hair oil and a face pack on! My Friday nights are soooooo exciting!

Looking up my style crushes for inspiration. Picturing my skinny me wardrobe in my mind - trying to fight the temptation to eat a kitkat.

omydarlin · 24/02/2012 20:30

Who are your style crushes blobtobetter ? I like that one of mad men and also the way Myleene Klass dresses need more inspirations though! Well done jennypiccolo . Have been very good so far for a Friday all am under my cals etc on myfitnesspal ! In terms of stylishness umm nails a bit chipped but have a half price haircut voucher which I wil book for two saturdays time. I have been mumsnet haircutting for about a year and half now ! Have done week 3 run 2 of couch 2 5 k tonight.

blobtobetter · 24/02/2012 21:33

Currently - Zooey Deschanel, Kirstie Allsopp and Amy Adams in Enchanted!

I like Betty from Mad Men, season one Blair Waldorf too.

I'll do my WI Saturday as that's the WI day I picked for WW. So if we say everyone has to weigh in either Sat or Sun? Would that work?

When are we starting from? From when we each originally started or from the start of this thread? If the latter, then our first WI together will be not this weekend but next, after we've had a week of mutual support.

I"m going to body brush. I do have cellulite but it's not too bad (I say, having avoided looking at it for years). But I have terrible red bumps on my upper arms and I heard that body brushing is the best thing for that. If anyone can recommend a cream, I'd be interested. I do notice that they get better when I'm in the sun and applying sun cream. I don't know whether that's because I'm finally moisturising my poor parched skin, or because of the sun, or because of some ingredient specific to sun cream.

I've bought some John Frieda hair dye to do my roots tonight - I usually pay a man in Soho fifty squillion thread to highlight my tresses, but the coffers are running bare here and allowances must be made

I have a girl crush on Kirsty Allsopp!! I think perhaps we just weigh in this weekend at whatever we are and then start doing losses in lbs (fingers crossed) from next week on (I say this as I am on week one of my diet and have had a relatively big weight loss over the past 6 days and it is very unsustainable!! Think next weeks' loss will be more realistic).

Well done Jenny - a dress size is such an achievement (and also the best motivation)!! And blob - step away from the kitkats...I have a white board in my kitchen and I am writing down each and every item I eat per day - it seems to help make me more concious of what I am eating instead of my usual binge on chocolate followed by elabourate efforts to hide the wrappers from DH. sanouk - dyeing your own hair is fine (so long as you aren't going blonde) - I've been doing my own for years and wouldn't dream of paying salon prices! and I am a spendaholic. ohmy - well done on the exercise today - most I got round to was a half hour walk...naughty!

I've been body brushing for years to get rid of my pimply red skin - I think anti cellulite creams can work for a temporary cosmetic effect but long term the best thing is body brushing, drinking lots of water and steady weight loss (as a trinity - I think you need to do all 3 and I don't think it ever completely goes).

blobtobetter · 25/02/2012 10:51

Love Kirstie - I have both her books and watch her on television on all those craft shows!

Been out in the garden - lovely fresh air!

Found a distraction from food - twitter! Or at least trying to figure out twitter!

mrsmartin · 25/02/2012 12:20

We don't have a garden but I'm trying to 'walk the dog' at least once a day (I don't have an actual dog Blush)

Racheybabez · 25/02/2012 13:04

i weight in today at same weight 11 stone not lost anything soooo disappointed cos i have been really good exercise everyday and within my 1200 calories on mfp without the exercise points :(

omydarlin · 25/02/2012 17:40

racheybabez I don't mean to sound like some of the scary American (no offence meant to US of A buddies) on MFP but they are quite passionate about using up your exercise calories - are you doing that?? They say if not you go into"semi starvation mode" whatever that means - I can't say whether this is trues as I always eat my exercise cals anyways as I am a piggy!

sanuk flakeaway (soap and glory) is brilliant for pimply bumpy skin on arms. Mine have disappeared since using for about 6 months

mrsmartin · 25/02/2012 19:39

Don't be disheartened rachey it could be any number of things that means you stay the same. Look at this as a clean slate. This week you are 11st...keep it up through next week and follow your diet/exercise plan...keep bodybrushing and hopefully you will have lost abit and feel smoother too Grin

blobtobetter · 25/02/2012 20:29

Only lost one pound this week - not a happy bunny!!

I have 2 weeks off work from mid May so I want to lose loads by then and have a make over / transformation while I am off. Must work harder / eat less / move more.

How much (reasonably) do you think I could lose between now and 19th May?

Sanuk · 25/02/2012 22:13

ohmy thank you for the tip - that Flakeaway stuff looks great and it's pretty cheap, too Smile Do you use it every day?

mrsm Hmm, i am going blonde-ish, well, light brown. Should I still DIY?

My weight has stayed the same since last week. I'm OK with that as DH and I had a v posh 4 course meal out on Tues and then I got my period and stayed very much off the wagon. Was out all day today at a work course and then have DD's birthday party tomorrow, so I've decided I will get back on the horse (or wagon with horse) on Monday and then be very, very, good.

blobtobetter - Mid May (well, 10th May) is kind of a goal date for me too. Should we try for aim for 1.5 stone or too ambitious?

OP posts:
mrsmartin · 25/02/2012 23:32

1.5 stone is about 2lb a week so that sounds about right...

sanuk - it depends...if you are lightening your hair it is quite difficult to keep the condition in your hair and also to keep the hair a consistent colour when it has grown and you re-do the colour...so long as you follow the instructions re doing the roots and then doing the rest of the colour it should be fine. Always use the same dye though. I've never been able to go wrong as I have always dyed my hair black.

However, I have decided my thing is going to be to try and grow my hair dye out (I don't trust that colourb4...well, I'm too scared to try it!) so I have bought dark brown semi-permenants and I am going to use those for now - I haven't seen my natural hair colour for 11 years and I'm rather intregued!!!!

I will do my weigh in tomorrow when I get up Wink

omydarlin · 26/02/2012 00:09

sanuk two or three times a week should be ok makes your skin glow and smells gorgeous too. Today I have gone a fair few cals over thanks to Toffee Apple Cider and two kfc chicken things bleurggh could kill husband sometimes putting silly ideas into my head. Run and long walk needed for Sunday. Have just ordered two items in size 14 off the next sale site a striped tunic and a berry tribal wrap dress that I wish I could link too but am on my iPod plan to wear the tribal wrap dress in two weeks time after my haircut to dinner at local country pub with husband no idea what accessories to wear have tan ankle boots / bag and leggings just the bling am unsure about god hope it fits! Any way I am blathering will pop on in the morning with my weight was all I really meant to say!

mrsmartin · 26/02/2012 00:23

ladies I just downloaded the myfitnesspal app (it is also online too here) and it is really good. You can calorie count and work out how many calories you have burned off with exercise...very handy!!!

blobtobetter · 26/02/2012 09:25

I always weigh myself on an evening!

1.5 stones by mid May sounds good! That would put me down 2 stones in total - never lost that much before.

I was skinny until I was about 10 but spent all my teen years and early 20s fat. I wish I had taken control earlier so I could have had those years to wear what I want and to experiment with clothes, hair and make up rather than trying to make myself invisible.

anniewoo · 26/02/2012 09:52

Ah finally found where you all went. Need to lose 2 stone. Will weigh in and follow. Somebody mentioned a hypno tape - any good?

charlie7 · 26/02/2012 09:54

Hi, would you mind if I joined you??! I have approx 3 stone to lose, had my 3rd baby 2 months ago and really struggling to lose anything, despite breast feeding. Very depressing! I too am using MFP which is brill, just adding extra calories to allow for breast feeding.
Weighed in yesterday and hardly lost anything, despite having what I thought was a good week. Not sure what's gone wrong. But will try again this week.

anniewoo · 26/02/2012 10:25

Charlie7 what is mfp?

omydarlin · 26/02/2012 10:28

Starting weight is 195 lbs Blush Welcome anniewoo and Charlie7. If anyone wants to add me on myfitness pal I am smileylittleorange!

charlie7 · 26/02/2012 10:59

Sorry My Fitness Pal!!

Will add you onSmile

omydarlin · 26/02/2012 11:02

anniewoo The hypno cd I have is adore yourself slim by Lisa Jackson ( also author of Running Made Easy from Zest magazine) I love it - was a bargain in British Bookshops - It works better for me on my ipod not actually playing it whenever I want though. MFP is my fitness pal an online calorie counter that's free and has a database of foods - surprisingly for an American site it has loads of British foods on database the app is really good but so is the website if you've not got a posh phone. I have just realised I think Ive put on a pound this week - blaming it on that KFC !!(and PMT)

mrsmartin · 26/02/2012 11:12

Yay annie - you found us! And Hi charlie! Grin

Well I have weighed in this morning at 11st 1lb - so 155lb. I've lost 8lb in the past week but it was my first week so I don't think that is sustainable! I want to get down to 119lb so I have 36lbs to go....at 2lbs a week hopefully I will achieve that by the beginning of July Grin

mrsmartin · 26/02/2012 11:14

I am really craving a zinger tower burger from kfc now...Sad
