Total is what I normally buy too, or if I'm passing by a Costco they sell a brand called Today which comes in great big buckets. Much milder and creamier than low-fat yogurt.

I like the look of those Oopsie rolls. Maybe I should make some to go with the vat of Cauliflower and Stilton soup I brewed up this evening, and that'll be my lunchtimes sorted for a while. I can't quite see what the Splenda brings to the party, though.

AngryFeet · 05/03/2012 22:37

God knows cointreau. I suppose normal bread has sugar. They don't taste sweet to me. Maybe it masks the eggyness?

CointreauVersial · 05/03/2012 22:55

Sugar in normal bread is mainly there to feed the yeast. Ah well, if you say it works I will give it a try. Anything for a half-decent bread substitute!!

debs39 · 05/03/2012 23:03

Re oopsie rolls...anyone made them with cott cheese and not cream cheese???? not got cc in so was going to improvise a bit...... ps got Monday munchies...I am sooooooo wanting to carb binge but have came to bed instead!!!!

QueenStromba · 05/03/2012 23:21

The splenda is there because Americans have been fed so much sugar over the years that their bread is actually sweet to the European palate but tastes normal to them. Seriously, if you ever buy white bread in an American supermarket it will taste a bit like cake.

OP posts:
AngryFeet · 05/03/2012 23:22

Yes you can although they won't be quite the same. The original rolls in the 1972 Atkins book had cottage cheese and were called revolution rolls. Some cocked up the recipe one day which is why these ones are called oopsie rolls Grin

Just make sure you get the egg White and stiff as possible.

AngryFeet · 05/03/2012 23:23

Might try it without splenda next time then. Good thing as I hate artificial sweetners.

debs39 · 05/03/2012 23:29

Revolution rolls eh???? Sounds so rock n roll!! Can't wait to get cooking tomorrow morning!!!! : ) Simple things please my v v simple (and complex ) carb deprived mind!!!

Ooh I love the sweet macdonalds buns

The oppsie rolls sound great - I might give them a try.

I was very good yesterday - I had a coffee, some slices of ham and some smoked salmon. I had no appetite at all as felt very sicky - still feel the same today.

AngryFeet · 06/03/2012 10:09

Not too impressed with my loss this week. Only 1lb. Still that is half a stone in two weeks so can't complain but since I am quite heavy I tend to lose a few more in the second week when I diet. AF is due imminently so I will blame that. I also am not getting enough veggies in or drinking enough water so I will up that this week.

Someone on minimins said not to overdo the oopsie rolls so I don't think I will make them a daily thing. Maybe twice a week or something. The bacon roll this morning was pretty good and certainly killed my carb craving which is helpful right now as I am feeling a bit blah about my low loss.

Hey ho, onwards and upwards!

vnmum · 06/03/2012 10:38

well I did a bit of an experiment last night. I had some chocolate. one of my hair brained ideas to see if it was still the same as before i started low carbing and do you know what, it wasn't! I didn't really enjoy the taste and I had stomach cramps after eating it, so my experiment worked in that i now know that i don't really miss the brown stuff and it makes me feel crap so no need to crave it anymore. I will expect no loss or even a gain this week from that.

breakfast this morning was a MIM with full fat philly and a babybel. I do struggle with weekday breakfasts as i need something quick before the school run.

angryfeet 1lb is still a loss, well done :)

Scales are finally my friend! 8.5lbs down now. And personal trainer is ramping things up at the gym, so I'm hoping this week will be a good one in terms of weight loss.

Love the sound of those oopsie rolls!

GetOrfMoiiLand · 06/03/2012 11:07

Well, I suppose my weekend of food mania could be construed as an experiment. I kind of hoped that after weeks of low carbing I would develop an aversion to crappy carbs, but I am afraid to say that I found that toblerones, pringles, cheesecakes, buttered toast, chips and huge great slabs of whole nut tasted just as lovely as they always had!

GetOrfMoiiLand · 06/03/2012 11:10

Well done BIWI - that is brilliant, 8.5lbs!

And well done everyone else on their weight loss.

I am also ramping up the excerise - I had a pre-birthday lazy week last week, think I only did my Jillian DVDs a few times, and didn't go on the elliptical trainer much. So am back to a strict 30 mins on the elliptical trainer, and the shred after.

i am also going to ashtanga yoga tomorrow night with DP. Has anyone ever been? I have little idea of what to expect.

flipflopflap · 06/03/2012 12:37

I might leave the splenda out when I make the rolls then, or maybe half it? I don't really like sweet bread either.

Ordered some Mama Lupes Tortillas yesterday, I've had them before so know that they're quite good. Looking forward to a LC Burrito at the weekend!

Top tip for the falafel recipe from yesterday, refrigerate the mixture overnight and it's miles easier to cook. Stays together better. Grin

FreeButtonBee · 06/03/2012 12:56

Right, moving back down the scales this am so weekend doesn't seem to have down toooo much damage. 10 12.5 today.

B: plain yoghurt
L: chicken and stir fry veg w small bit of Teriyaki sauce (which seems to be about 3g of carbs per tbsp - i only have a v small spoonful)
D: not sure; thought DH was out tonight but he's not. have some bacon, some celeriac and some kale. Might be a bit of a random one!

PrincessTamTam · 06/03/2012 13:07

Made a gorgeous celeriac dauphinoise the other day... better than potato version IMO, made exactly the same way, there is a recipe in the Idiot proof diet cookbook too.

Am not doing any exercise due to inflamed broken foot and also about to come on so am def not weighing this week as it will just depress me.

Just had very nice 2 egg omlette with mushrooms and spring onion, with grain mustard on side, sounds odd but tasty!

ImperialBlether · 06/03/2012 13:41

Well, stuck to it yesterday (my first day) and found I was 3lbs lighter this morning! Says more about what I was eating, I'm sure.

Can anyone give me the cauliflower recipe, please? (Mash or rice) Having chicken tonight and fancy something to go with it.

GetOrfMoiiLand · 06/03/2012 13:42

I know it is a stupid queston - but does celeriac taste of celery? I have never tried it because I LOATHE the taste of celery and assumed they were from the same veg family.

GetOrfMoiiLand · 06/03/2012 13:44

That's good imperial - 3lb in a day!

SeriousWispaHabit · 06/03/2012 14:08

It does a little bit Getorf. I love it, but then I quite like celery too.

I have an ill DD2 again so my day off that was meant to be spent in the sunshine digging in the veg patch and planting things with the DDs has ended up being a day of cuddling on the sofa and endless CBeebies.

Belly pork and roast veg for dinner.

FreeButtonBee · 06/03/2012 14:34

Might do daphinoise. I quite like that. DH isnt so keen - "would be nicer with potato" is his verdict! Might go hard on the thyme and garlic and guyere. Maybe with some nice sausages and wilted kale. That'll do!

GerOrf It tastes a bit like celery - I don't really like celery but can manage celeriac if only for the almost-but-not-quite-potato nature of it! People make it into chips!

I am getting a coldsore and as a result am taking these horse-tablets that some charlatan recommended (L-Lysine, supposed to be an amino acid that inhibits coldsores - anything is worth a try). They are having a bit of violent effect on the speed of transit of my guts today. Ahem.

ImperialBlether · 06/03/2012 15:02

I know, GetOrf - a couple of years like this and I'll be sorted!

CointreauVersial · 06/03/2012 18:13

GOML, I loathe and detest celery, but I am very fond of celeriac. It is a family tradition to have celeriac and carrot puree with lashings of butter as part of Christmas lunch.

I am just taking a break from my labours in the kitchen - Butter Chicken, Paneer with Spinach, and shiratake noodles (rice for the DCs). I have high hopes! Not sure what time DH will appear, as I just heard the M25 is closed about a mile from here.
