Hello all,

I am so glad I found this thread. I am doing exactly the same. 3 meals a day, no snacks and trying to eat lower fat versions of everything and the high fat stuff in very tiny amounts. I have only just started and just wandered how you were getting on since the last posting.

I dont weigh myself as I find I get obsessed but my goal is to get into some very slinky size 10 jeans hanging on the back of my bedroom door. I am currently a 14/16. Before DD I was 12/14.

LoveMyGirls · 25/09/2006 20:33

i have to be honest and say its not been going great but i've been extremely busy with work and children though im now going for it again (and i still have work and children so i guess thats just been my excuse!!)

i am now weighing 11 st 13 lb

which is amazing when i look back to the start of this thread. im now wearing size 14/16 clothes.

ok so i didnt make it to 10stone by summer but im alot happier than i was.

who wants to join me ?!

Im reviving this thread. This time i am determined to lose the weight - all of it!

I am now 11.10 stone.

I'm going back to more excercise and less biscuts etc.

Basically i've written down my "rules" and i'm going to see how far i get with it all, feel free to join me and add your tips.

A HEALTHIER LIFESTYLE CHOICE

  1. No more thoughts of deprivation (this is small changes)
  2. You don?t have to live on rabbit food to lose weight
  3. You can still have normal meals just slightly smaller portions
  4. Only eat fried stuff once a week (choose a day)
  5. Exercise (instead of asking the kids to fetch something or asking dp to go to the shop, every little helps)
  6. If you have a bad day, start again the next day.
  7. If it helps keep a food diary or a thread on MN to remind you of progress.
  8. Stick to 3 Meals a day at set times of the day.

TIPS FOR EATING LESS

When you are hungry before you go to the fridge try:
? Brushing your teeth
? Tidy up (or occupy yourself) for 15 mins then see if you?re still hungry
? Having a drink of water/ squash
? A piece of fruit (buy fruit you like rather than the same old stuff)
? Eat weetabix
? Run up and down stairs 5 times
? Use a smaller bowl/ plate/ spoon so you don?t fill it as much therefore have smaller portions.
? Eat slowly and chew lots

My Top 5 reasons for doing this?

  1. I want to be thin so I can stop feeling guilty about being fat!
  2. It?s about time I got off my arse, NO MORE EXCUSES!!!
  3. I want to look good and wear nice clothes
  4. I want to be healthy and fit
  5. I?m fed up of looking like this

Targets (in half stones)
11.7 stone
11 stone
10.7 stone
10 stone

Think about the choices you are making: Only you can do this, it?s possible to be whatever weight you want to be, positive thinking and little steps can achieve this massive GOAL. Think about how you will feel once the weight is off.

COME ON WHO IS WITH ME?

SpookyMadMummy · 25/04/2007 13:43

Yep I am in. Got weighed this morning and I am officially a fat fecker. The scales were begging for mercy! I aim to los at least 3 stones. HELP!!!

Roskva · 25/04/2007 13:46

I'll join you - I like your philosophy.

LoveMyGirls · 25/04/2007 13:57

Welcome aboard!!!!!!!!!!!

What weight are you now (if you dont mind sharing) and what is your aim?

Ive decided i'm not having dates because as you can see from the begining of this thread it was a waste of time! As long as i'm not gaining and losing some every now and again thats better than putting on!

Take 1 day at a time.

What have you been doing? Have you just started?

I've started again today.

OP posts:
smileydee · 25/04/2007 14:01

Count me in. Have just weighed myself, am 10.7, want to be 9.7 by holiday time.

Will also do triceps exercises, am fed up of wobbly arms which mean I can't wear sleeveless stuff.

Who wants to join me in 25 chair presses?

LoveMyGirls · 25/04/2007 14:14

Welcome!!

Shall we have a weigh in day?

I would join the chair press ups if I knew what they were? I don't think i'm really ready for anything too tough yet, walking this morning has made me ache!!

I'm going to start gently first, my main aim is to cut the crap and eat at set times and make sure i do something everyday.

OP posts:
smileydee · 25/04/2007 14:22

Kind of hard to explain chair pressups;
put your hands on the front corners of the seat, with your feet on the floor, bum in front of seat. Bend arms, your bum will go down, straighten arms, bum comes up. You should feel it in the muscles at the back of your arms.

Roskva · 25/04/2007 16:05

I started the year at 10st 10lb, got down to 9st 12ob, and have gained at least 4lb in the last month, so I need to get motivated again. I would like to be around 9st. I would just like my clothes to fit again - I can't afford a whole new wardrobe!

A weigh in day is a good idea.

nikki81 · 25/04/2007 21:54

Hi everyone, could I join please? I had a baby 7 months ago and trying to loose a few pounds! Finding it really hard and love my choc! I have started running now but done my knee in today! I also go to the gym when I can! I was trying to follow slimming world but I don't go to any classes. Just need some support and advice!

LoveMyGirls · 26/04/2007 12:19

HI all,

How are we doing?

I did well yesterday didnt eat any crap - was especially proud as my siser brought a bag of doughnuts round and theyre still untouched!!

I went to toddlers this morning and refused chocolate biscuts and i walked part of the way - not all of it because i thought it looked like it was going to rain - but it didnt which is sods law!!

So far today i've had shredded wheat which is really good though i'm hungry now so will be getting lunch in a minute.

OP posts:
bozza · 26/04/2007 14:01

I think I would like to join. I don't want a thread with specific rules, just a bit of motivation and support. LMG I have read through the thread and think you have done fantastically well - you have lost 2 stones and maintained it.

Right, about me. I was 10 stone 10 and am basically a size 12, and would like to be a size 10 as I have a lot of weight around my middle. I have got down to 10 stone 4 according to the scales. I weigh on a Friday btw although do check on other days. I have set myself some mini goals, the first of which is 10 stone by the end of May.

I am eating sensible meals, with a big emphasis on the fruit/veg aspect and trying to drink more water. I am also aiming to go to the gym twice a week and swimming once a week. And where possible on other days to do a DVD or go for a walk or whatever.

LoveMyGirls · 26/04/2007 14:11

Sounds like a good plan, we might as well have Friday as weigh in day then

Thanks for saying i have done well, i am actually quite proud of myself, I have tbh and say i have not made any effort over the past 6 months but am chuffed to have kept the weight off. Now i feel its about time i lose the other 2 stone i put on during pregnancy and get back into my old clothes.

Dp was shocked whne i said i'm going to make a proper effort again - tbh I have alot of other stuff going on and concentrating on my weight instead of the other stuff makes me feel a bit better tbh - it's something i can have control over if i choose to the other stuff though i have tried to control it isn't so easy

I think my issue with food is from when i first moved out of home and didn't have any money for food, i hate waste, waste of food = waste of money I need to buy less and use what we have so that i don't feel so bad about throwing some of it away.

Like the doughnuts my sister brought round yesterday (she didnt know i was planning to lose weight) they will go in the bin and out of 4 of us only dd1 had 2 bites of hers, they will all go in the bin now but its better than eating them and putting weight on.

OP posts:
bozza · 26/04/2007 14:21

Well you have done well. We can stick with Tuesday as weigh-in day, no problem to me, I can weigh on Tues and Fri (I probably would anyway ). The reason I have Friday is that I work Tues - Thurs and am generally quite good while at work so Tuesday might be more realistic.

I have the same issue with wasted food as well, so was not all that impressed when MIL sent us home with a doggy bag on Sunday. It contained half a buttered bread roll several cocktail sausages and sausage rolls, 5 cadbury's mini egg cake nest things, and 1/2 a toffee pavlova. I threw the bread, gave DD the sausage rolls with brown rice and carrots (I know odd combo but balanced) for lunch, didn't have any of the choc things (2 to DH, 1 to DS, 1 to DD, 1 to DD's friends), and just had a little of the meringue part of the pavlova (got to be better than the cream and toffee). So I did reasonably well.

I do try not to buy too much and have just started getting a veg box delivered once a week. So I am really trying not to waste the veg rather than worrying about cream cakes and meat pies going out of date.

LoveMyGirls · 26/04/2007 14:39

Should I walk to school and back? I really don't think I can be bothered, I've got a headache! Its an hour round trip btw. I did it twice yesterday and half walked this morning (parked near and walked the rest and back)

OP posts:
LoveMyGirls · 26/04/2007 14:46

Think i'll do the half walk thing again. Then i can just walk through the pretty woods and back which is still about 30mins of walking.

OP posts:
bozza · 26/04/2007 15:06

Yes do the half and half thing, better than nothing and the fresh hair might help your head. Bet you've gone now though.

LoveMyGirls · 26/04/2007 15:48

Ended up not having time by the time dd2 woke up and i got her ready it was too late.

OP posts:
SpookyMadMummy · 26/04/2007 15:48

Well, I have been a good girl today had plenty of water and limited my food intake. I started listening to my body telling me to stop rather than looking at whats on my plate. I have also done 2 hours walking as usual with the school runs.

Roskva · 27/04/2007 00:23

Well, I had a long walk and pushed dd and the buggy up a very steep hill, and a shorter walk in which I carried her in her baby carrier up a marginally less steep hill. Then I was really late making dinner so I just had to eat some crisps to keep me going . At least there are no longer any crisps in the house, and I'm studiously ignoring dh's biscuits.

SpookyMadMummy · 27/04/2007 07:04

Well, I was watching the snooker last night, a prime time for getting out snacks, but I didn't!!! Am very pleased with myself today. Hope it continues!
good luck all!
