im going for the healthier lifestyle approach as i have quite a bit to lose and its hard to stick to faddy diets. im having 3 meals a day without snacking and also doing swimming and walking as my exercise, no gym or dvd's etc.

Anyone care to join me?

so far, at the beginning of Jan i weighed 13st 8lb now i weigh 13st 2lb so its coming off steadily im hoping to be 10st by summer.

Jenk1 - I've done that too. In fact, I've weighed myself and not lost, so eaten, or have lost so celebrated and eaten Blush. I'm doing the weighing this time because it's a sure way of knowing if I'm fooling myself. Basically, I'm going to use Tuesdays as a focus point for keeping going and getting into good habits - well, that is the idea. Are you going on how you feel and clothes size? How's everyone else doing?

MagicGenie · 04/04/2006 13:22

Kiss - I agree - best to use the gym scales! Wink

Jenk1 - also sympathise. Have done that thing where if I don't see results, I sabotage everything by indulging. Do what works for you - if that means not weighing yourself, so be it :)

LMG - think Kiss's suggestion of a treat is great. Pick something you really like about yourself (skin, nails, hair, whatever) and make it extra nice. Then take some deep breaths and remember all the support you've got here!

I'd say I'm going on how I feel and how clothes fit me rather than weight (but it's nice to get the 'proof' like you say, Kiss). I'm a size 16-18 and seem to creep up a size every couple of years. I get annoyed with myself though, cos I look back at photos of when I was a size 14 and remember not being satisfied even then, when in fact the photos show I was just lovely and curvy. That's the size/look I've got in mind as my target now.

I'm going to a wedding in June. I don't expect to be that size by then, but will be very happy if I'm well on my way.

Anyone else got problem areas? Mine are flabby lower abdomen (dreadful after pregnancy) and inner thighs (family trait, unfortunately). Haven't seen great improvements on those as yet but it's coming off other places.

unicorn · 04/04/2006 15:56

looneym - just made the curry and it is gorgeous, so ta for that recipe, anymore like that?

thirtysomething · 04/04/2006 19:57

Weighed myself today and only lost 1lb this week despite being really good! Oh well, better than nothing! I like the idea of looking at a bag of sugar when you've lost 2lbs! How has everyone else done this week?

LoveMyGirls · 05/04/2006 08:50

sorry girls i meant to post yesterday anyway here i am better late than never ey, the scales say im 12.6 stone so a loss of 2 lbs now im aiming towards 12 stone (i concentrate on half a stone at a time then it doesnt seem like such a huge deal)

we can all do this my target is 10 stone and i am absolutly determined to get there!

yesterday i decided to cut out bread and pasta after reading some old threads on here.

i thought i would be hungry but i was full all day and i didnt even snack last night.

Breakfast nairns oat cakes
lunch jacket potato with beans and cheese and salad
dinner mince, mashed potato and lots of green cabbage.

No snacks or crisps!!!

MagicGenie · 05/04/2006 14:11

LMG, Jenk1 - these rallying cries are just what I need! As predicted, I've been standing on the precipise of my lapse - started late last night and continued this morning.

However, went to gym for an hour and thought of you lot. Then weighed myself - I've lost a couple of pounds - gave myself a slap, and got back 'on the wagon'. (Kiss - I'll definitely be referring to the gym scales!)

Jenk1 - I find cutting down on bread really helps but do have some every now and then. That way, if I'm in a situation where it's harder to 'control' what I'm eating (i.e. a cafe where they only sell chips or sandwiches), I don't feel as bad.

LMG - have you given yourself a treat yet? You have lost two pounds, after all!

Still interested to hear about other people's problem areas, if you don't mind sharing.

Kiss · 05/04/2006 22:16

Thirtysomething - how about getting out two lots of butter and staring at that? One pound doesn't sound a lot until you actually visualise it.

MG - bad bits - tops of arms and blubber-tummy but I'm skilled at denial - it isn't me - I am still slim Wink. I've started swimming again and will go back to doing sit ups. If those bits don't disappear with the diet/exercise, I'll nobble my body-builder friend for something more specific.

jenk1 · 06/04/2006 10:07

day 3 of no bread and im feeling like im doing detox!!!!

I have a craving for bread but im not giving in, ive bought some trufree high fibre crackers so im having those instead, they are wheat and gluten free.

thirtysomething · 06/04/2006 20:34

My problem bits - everything except tummy! Thighs worst of course - never ever lose any weight there and exercise just makes them, well, more muscly!
Like the idea of a 1lb of butter, Kiss, will def. try that!

LoveMyGirls · 11/04/2006 12:56

WEIGH IN DAY!
i am now 12.5 (im getting there!!!) still about 2 n half stone to go but im not putting weight on and i am losing about a lb a week so thats good good good!

OP posts:
Kiss · 11/04/2006 15:31

Heh, well done.

Me, too Smile - have had a really bad week, not enough exercise and too many treats and still managed to lose a pound. I am now lighter - 9.65 - than I have been in two years.

I was dreading the scales but got on them anyway and have celebrated by not eating the boys' chocolate bunnies. Easter is making things hard going. Will go for a jog tonight, too, and keep off the wine until the weekend. It all adds up.

LoveMyGirls · 11/04/2006 16:04

well done Kiss, we will get there i had fish n chips last night but everyday is a new start and ive been very good today!

Hello. Well done LMG & Kiss!

Hard week for me also; staying with F&MIL so not 'in charge' of meals. Just being sensible and exercising...no access to scales so can't report on that but doing OK and don't feel as though I'm undoing any of the good work so far.

Jenk1 - are you there? How's the detox/no bread plan going?

thirtysomething · 11/04/2006 21:07

no weight loss this week as have been ill so consequently eating badly! Well done LMG and Kiss - fab results! Keep it up!

jenk1 · 13/04/2006 13:20

Hello im here, i have been poorly since last thursday and hardly ate anything.

I dont feel any slimmer though!!!

Starting again tomorrow as all i have eaten for the last week is dry toast.

Glad to see you are all doing ok Smile

Kiss · 13/04/2006 14:00

Hope you're feeling better, Jenk. If you can keep going now, you are bound to have lost quite a bit but somehow, being so poorly just isn't worth it.

One jog here but also got a bottle of white wine in fridge - well, the sun is shining, (today only!) and it is the hols. Still managed to keep off the bunnies.

jenk1 · 15/04/2006 16:32

well my top and trousers dont feel so tight today!!!

Mind you its the first time ive been dressed in nearly a week, went toGP and he said tonsilitis so now on antibiotics and feeling better but ruined it today as have had a hotdog and a turkish delight Blush

Sorry, i have had to leave and join the slimming world thread as my willpower alone is not enough.

Hopefully this will kick start me back.

thirtysomething · 02/05/2006 22:01
