Who is up for a stone off in a month?

MeremetaLoucoDiamant · 13/02/2012 22:49

Or maybe as close to that as we can get?

I am size 14, would love to drop a dress size for a specific date next month and I am possibly 20lbs ish overweight, so a stone would be a great starting point.

I am vegetarian but attempting to low carb.

So.... who's in?

I have become almost evangelical about ZH but have to say...if you can get yourself in the zone and really concentrate for just 5 days it is a pretty much guaranteed loss of between 5 and 10lbs.

shinecrazydiamond · 05/03/2012 12:50

everlong - downloaded it to the kindle. Have followed it to the letter, no deviations. Made easy in some ways as I do not drink alcohol as a general rule and made harder in that I am an egg hating vegetarian! I managed to force down a couple of omelettes though.

I am slightly confused at the complexities of phase 2 though- hence why I shall do another 5 days as i am with the few little additions.

shinecrazydiamond · 05/03/2012 12:52

Are you going to start today?

Just remember - eat eggs, all veg [ bar potatoes and mushrooms ], olive oil, herbs and spices, meat and fish, tofu and live yogurt. And err.. that's about it.

It makes for a depressing joyless week... but the results are worth it. And you have us here! Smile

nenevomito · 05/03/2012 12:56

So whats the theory behind harcombe then? I know the theory behind Dukan and Atkins et al, but whats the deal with ZH?

Shine I don't think I want to be thin bad enough to eat like that for 5 days....maybe that's why I haven't lost this weight very quickly. It's taken me 2 months to lose 7lbs....dieting is a drag!

I keep thinking about wonderful lovely clothes - new ones, all light & spring like....and then I think of the swimsuit I need to wear in June and that thought is terrifying me.

greenfig · 05/03/2012 13:04

Well done Shiney they're impressive results!
Def agree these last lbs are tough. Also I find it harder to keep motivated It's only a few lbs mentality, glass of wine, piece of flapjack & back up a lb. But they DO make a difference to clothes fitting esp when you're small. Will be worth it, I know I can I'm sure I can mantra...will shred later, has been some time....Hmm

ferfuxake · 05/03/2012 13:06

Ooh, lots of new people. Welcome!

Baby heave - sounds like we share a weekend willpower problem. But we mustn't give up!

I am moving house this week so suspect diet won't be top my list of priorities. Lots of running about though! At the moment I am 7 lbs down do will aim to maintain that as a minimum, then may join some you on Zh's hellish regime next week.

Good luck everyone.

shinecrazydiamond · 05/03/2012 13:08

I think the theory is just a complete sledgehammer being taken to carbohydrates. Your body is deprived of them and this has the effect of a sudden loss.

I have not felt ill during the 5 days and really, it's a healthy way to eat if you can be inventive and are able to restrict yourself. I usually can't, incidentally, but am drawing on reserves of willpower I never knew I had.

I'm getting tempted by the idea of the ZH, Shiney. I've done Dukan and when I could stick to it the loss was amazing, but the thing I missed most was vegetables.
If I could eat protein and veg, I could live with that - short term, at least.

nenevomito · 05/03/2012 20:32

I could just do with a nice stomach bug to shift the next 7lb. I've looked for peaky looking people to snog but no luck.

yup - DD was sick for a week, DS was sick for two days, DH pretended to be sick but wasn't really he was just trying to piss me off by effortlessly losing weight. I was fine, apart from mopping up several tonnes of sick.

Morning! Well didn't acheive shred as felt knackered. How useless is that on DAY 1!!? It actually felt quite hard yesterday, even though I was eating same as mondays on previous weeks, think it's because I know I can't let it all slide come the w/es - I have your probs baby & ferfux! Still am lb down, 6 to go. Pru I find lack of veg too hard too on Dukan & tend to have veg at least in the eve, just no carbs. Also can't stand the galettes but oatbran porridge is nice. I will try to do a protein only day thurs as away for w/e & don't want yet ANOTHER monday ending up back where I started.
Await news from all you day 1 ZHers...

nenevomito · 06/03/2012 09:25

That does sound yawn-tastic Shiney, which is why I think I will stick to low carbs. My diets go wrong when I restrict myself too much.

greenfig - I did Dukan last year, but after the first month ended up quitting as it was just too restrictive, but I did like the quick weightloss in the first couple of weeks. This time I did the attack phase to get me started, but then moved on to low carbing.

I bit the bullet this morning and weighed myself, and I've not put anything on from the weekend, so hopefully it means if I stick to my diet this week I can either still lose a lb or at least not put anything on. Yesterday went well back on the old wagon and I came in under target.

karlahine · 06/03/2012 09:48

OMG I so need to shift about 2 stone, I still have all my old clothes that I used to fit in! I don't know why I still have them as it only depresses me further everytime I look at them!!!

shinecrazydiamond · 06/03/2012 10:27

Hello all

Why did I have yogurt again you ask? Because I just couldn't be arsed with anything else really. I am SO bored of this ultra healthy eating. Truly. 5lbs away from a major target though - and want to be there for the 17th- so on I plod.

Breakfast today was yogurt [ heave ] with berries and brown rice cereal. Lunch will probably be quorn slices with stir fried veg and then maybe an omelette for tea.

My cup runneth over.

greenfig · 06/03/2012 11:00

It def is horses for courses. I can relate to that shiney sometimes it's easier to lessen the appeal/interest in food & it hardly feels worth the preparation. When I lost well on Dukan there were times that the food was simply fuel (first time in my life!!) which is somehow easier but soooo boring. baby for me it's a means to an end but I think it's important to get the balance back & eat sensibly & to enjoy food once back to target weight, espec to set example to children. I need to see results fast or I lose interest. The trick is not piling it all back on isn't it!! Good luck for next targetsSmile

shinecrazydiamond · 06/03/2012 11:24

greenfig - very true. I just cannot be bothered really. It is most definitely fuel at the moment.

I worry about maintaining as well. Too fond of cake.

Junebugjr · 06/03/2012 11:39

Hello all!

Day 1 of zh over, start of day 2 today. Finding it easier when I'm at work, but struggled last night to keep my mitts off the chocolate.

Shiny - sympathise about the yogurt. I had so much of it in the last phase 1, I used to heave at the sight of the pot, but I was starving. Have you done the butternut squash curry with quorn?

I'm starving today but the thought of getting my arse in the kitchen and cooking up a storm isn't very appealing. Shame you can't have zh ready meals!

Tillyscoutsmum · 06/03/2012 11:45

Just wanted to say well done to shiney - your willpower is amazing !

I have been AWOL - well and truly fallen off the wagon. I put a couple of lbs back on but they have come off again now so I am pretty much where I was - 17lbs lighter than I was on 1st Jan but no lighter in the last few weeks. I'm not in the right frame of mine this week but will start again properly on Monday. I may even give this ZH thing a go for a week to kick start things.
