The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded support system:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. So forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions.
The Paul McKenna system works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

Please feel free to join us. We are friendly, supportive and successful but we're not hungry!!! so come on in and start living your new life today!

I agree Phee - am totally in favour of family meal times but sometimes I just do myself a child size tea which no one notices really and occassionally I have just sat down at the table with just my drink and when kids ask just said I had a really big lunch and I'm not hungry now. I reckon that's a really positive thing for kids to understand - not just eating for eatings sake Smile

sanguinechompa · 05/03/2012 22:42

That's a really good point Phoenix thank you

And thank you all

Right. I'm convinced! Going to give it a serious go ...

sanguinechompa · 05/03/2012 22:43

oops overlooked arfur - thank you too - beginning to see now how this could really work

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 05/03/2012 23:32

Arfur that is what I do, with the portions etc. DH and I have taken to having a salad plate instead of a dinner plate for our meals some of the time. DS1 doesn't notice at all.

I think it is a really healthy way to eat with kids actually, because you don't have to do separate meals, or change what your family eat, or say 'ooh I can't have X'.
DS1 Pauls without knowing it, I should take more leaves out of his book Grin

ppeatfruit · 06/03/2012 09:10

Morning All Smile Solo I didn't notice that don't spoil it (i've grown into a real P.M. groupie haven't I? Grin)

Ali and Phee congrats on the belt tightening!! I just put on my 'painting' jeans and they are so big they're over leggings and tops, 'cos its minus 2 here. I still need a belt!! i'm starting to paint the beams and in between in our utilty room before we get it fitted out properly.

sanguine we LOOve Belgium IMO the food is better than Fr. but the French choc. is better!! DH speaks some dutch 'cos he used to import cars from there to England! As Ali says This way of eating is the NATURAL way IMO it's a shame so many people are obsessed with "clearing plates" and not listening to their bodies. BUT NOT ON HERE HOORRAAAYYYY Smile Grin!!!

sanguinechompa · 06/03/2012 16:00

Thanks for the encouragement ppeatfruit! Agree with you about Belgian chocolate - I find it too creamy and rich - much prefer (although bordering on sacriligeous to say it here) Swiss variety! Unfortunately clear far too many plates myself when I'm not really hungry... need to get cracking on this

Good idea about salad plate from Ali too

Great that the system is working for so many of you - v. inspiring!

ppeatfruit · 07/03/2012 08:14

Morning Smile Gone a little quiet on here hasn't it?

spendthrift · 07/03/2012 08:46

Morning all.
Recovering from poor behaviour on Monday when I had one of my monthly chocolate binges. I don't even really like the stuff.

Oh well, as the corseted actress did not say, today is another day.

Good luck in whatever today brings.

arfur · 07/03/2012 09:08

I'm still here PP! Not had a brill few days but still better than 'old' me! And am feeling spurred on today by tiny drop on scales so will keep the momentum going. Need to listen to pm more as does make a big difference to me also will find out the diary book thing too later. Have taken up crochet and knitting again (very basic) as it helps to distract me from snacking in the evenings, and the running is continuing well. Haven't done much shredding but every little helps Smile have a good day everyone Grin

PhoenixFromTheFlames · 07/03/2012 09:17

I'm lurking but am on holiday. Big challenge to see if I can Paul while I'm here. So far, so good with food though I have bought snacky sweets at times

Solo · 07/03/2012 11:09

Hello!!
Bad evening yesterday as we had dinner at my brothers as it was SIL's birthday. Ate late and too much, but back in line today!

Hello Paulers

Someone asking about PMK here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/big_slim_whatever_weight_loss_club/1423046-Has-anyone-had-hypnotherepy-for-weight-control-and-did-it-work?msgid=30481019#30481019 Can anyone (who doesn't keep lapsing) help?

PhoenixFromTheFlames · 07/03/2012 17:07

I popped in. I actually think lapsing is a normal part of the process. It's just about being able to start again after you do!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 07/03/2012 18:27

Totally agree Phee. I've been making steady downward progress for 10 months now, that is a better result than on any traditional diet that I've tried!

PhoenixFromTheFlames · 07/03/2012 18:40

And that's the beauty with Pauling, he doesn't admonish you, he expects it but tells you not to beat yourself up but to start again :)
I'm so pleased with myself I've just been swimming! So whilst on holiday so far I have: day 1. Run 5k, day 2. Climbed some of Snowdon a total of 6 miles and day 3. Swum 40 lengths admittedly of a hotel size pool
I'm amazed at myself to be honest.

arfur · 08/03/2012 10:11

Morrrrrning all! Just popping in to say as of today ........... I've lost 5 lbs Grin very very happy as I am now dead on 12 stone so just one more lb and im into the 11 something's just been for walk/run and am going out to clean out the guinea pigs and chickens in the beeyootiful sunshine Smile have a great day everyone - keep on Pauling!

nbee84 · 08/03/2012 17:06

Well... am now 2 weeks into it so weighed myself today and I've lost 4lb. TBH I felt a little disappointed at that, but when I stopped to think about it and thought about the food I have eaten over the last 2 weeks, I decided it wasn't a bad result. I'm eating when I'm hungry and I'm eating food that I want to eat, so that has included some chocolate and some birthday cake. I'm finding that I am snacking less. Still struggling with eating slowly and 'am I hungry?' and 'am I full?'
Went to a posh London restaurant for lunch with a friend today and only ate a small piece of bread (he ate the other 3 slices!) and chose a fish dish with a spinach side and didn't need or want dessert as I was pleasantly full Smile

PhoenixFromTheFlames · 08/03/2012 18:16

I think a 4lb loss for the first two weeks is fantastic nbee! You won't see such a rapid weight loss as if you were doing a more dramatic solution like WW or SW but you will see a steady gradual weight loss. Think about it, you've lost 4lb by eating whatever you want! Glad you enjoyed your lunch out :)
Well, I continue to feel fairly pleased with myself...I've swum again today. I did succumb to chocolate and Haribo Tangfastics today....I think I have pms if l only were up the duff! and bought an ate them all. Although I ate them slower than I would have before...still tripping up and starting again. Generally not too bad for being on holiday though! That's why Pauling is so great, you don't have to stop on holiday.

arfur you are doing brilliantly! Stick with it! Even the happy dances will help with your metabolism! :)

nbee84 · 08/03/2012 18:26

Thanks phee Smile It is nice not having to eat different food to everyone else and not having to eat cardboard 'diet' food to fill myself up. On other diets if I'd eaten cake or chocolate I'd be thinking I'd blown it for the day.

PhoenixFromTheFlames · 08/03/2012 21:30

Oh yes, it is lovely not eating carboardy rubbish. Low fat cheese was not good. Tasted a bit rubbery. We'll get there steadily :)

bellastella · 08/03/2012 23:16

hello ladies, may i join you?

i've read a few of the threads as they appeared on active convo's and i found myself interested and so bought the book (the one that has the cd and dvd). I'm approaching the end of week three doing life the pmk way.

my day 1 stats were: height 5'6, weight 12st 5lbs and dress size 14.

in april 2010 i was a very toned size 12 and 10st 7lbs and Grin . i'd like to get close to that again. my ds3 is now 10months and i'm not bf any more so it's time to try something new Smile

on day 15 i was 11st 13lbs Shock .... then that evening i went out on the razzle (not been out on the tiles for nearly a year) and have been quite remiss ever since Blush it is time to sign up here for some support and hope i can be of some use to others too.

off to bed now and will listen to the cd. hope to check in with you all soon x

Solo · 08/03/2012 23:47

Hi bella and welcome to your new weight loss thread! you are in the right place to lose those lbs!!

I went with Mum today to my Dads annual firms dinner (I go to represent Dad as he passed away in '09). I ate far too much and was not listening to myself at all; but I thoroughly enjoyed my meal! Grin I also wore a pair of trousers that I've never got on before! and certainly couldn't get on back in December and everyone apparently kept saying to Mum that I'd lost so much weight!!! (sad thing is that they kept saying to me that Mum had gained so much...Mum keeps saying that she's lost it, but she really isn't :( )

Hope you are all doing Ok.
