Second thread

Loads of us doing really well and losing weight WELL DONE

Some of us, looking at no one in particular de motivated and struggling. I could start with the excuses but I'm not going to. What's done is done, I need to concentrate on the diet from now (and maybe even some exercise). Since I am in a confessional mood I will start this thread by saying that all I have eaten today is about 200g of chocolate. No lie, no exaggeration (I know I have eaten one 100g bar and some more). I really have a problem with food - have no willpower for moderation, it is all or nothing.

So, reasons to continue (these are mine, please add your own):

  • Psychologically I am going to get 'there' again - i.e. deciding to diet and really getting it. The reason I am not is because I am full of "what's the point" thoughts. I have done so badly in the last few days. But it doesn't MATTER - it's actually better to make the change now when I start to get horrified again in 3 weeks time.
  • I am doing it. I ahve lost 2.5 stone since last summer and 1.5 stone since Christmas! If I eat less, I lose weight. So doing it is not pointless and I will see results.
  • I am going to start having some health issues soon. I may have lost weight but I am still at a point where my weight is unhealthy.
  • I still cannot wear my s16 jeans. That's my first goal - by the end of this month.
  • I feel overall more happy and positive when I am logging calories. If I could ahve a day off without blowing it and losing ALL motivation to restart I'd be happy to do that every once in a while. But I can't, so I won't.

Right, off to log my 200g chocolate and think about lunch.

FannyPriceless · 13/02/2012 12:27

Yes momni, that is one of the reasons I feel depressed at the prospect of logging and counting - that I know it would have to be like that for the rest of my life for it to actually work.

I so know what you mean about the cleaning your plate / never get the chance to eat it again thing. Why? I am sure this is the thing that needs to be reprogrammed with me. I see other people at work who don't even agonise over a decision when offered mufffins and pastries, when I feel obliged to eat it if it is there! (We often have loads of free food left over from events and buffets held in our building.)

But I have to change things. My BMI is 32.6. I didn't imagine my children would have an overweight mum, let alone a seriously obese one.Sad I always imagine us as a family doing lots of exciting outdoors things, but that's the opposite of what I can currrently offer them. I will change because I must.

fivegomadindorset · 13/02/2012 20:32

Back on track today, had museli, yoghurt and frut for breakfast, butternut squash and a few croutons fro lunch and spag bol for supper. I managed to keep weght gain to 2lbs for our time away.

StealthPolarBear · 13/02/2012 21:36

Cother that is brilliant!
Bad time here, general sickness, children then us so dieting been low on the list. Feeling better now though so back to it tomorrow or Wednesday. I have a shred dvd now!
I too have issues with eating everything, which is odd as I don't think that came from my parent, and I'm an only so no sibling rivalry. Dh often says to the dc they have to eat everything and I stop him, its just frustrtuon though, like me he's delighted if they just make the effort
ikwym about he battle not being over when Target weight achieved. I have no problems with logging, I like to be in control, but I need to be able to allow myself a day or week off without throwing in the towel and bingeing. That's the problem.

momnipotent · 14/02/2012 21:41

Oh dear.
4:40pm, and today I have eaten absolutely nothing but chocolate and we're having pizza for tea. Yikes.

notveryinventive · 14/02/2012 22:42

boastfull comment from me now.

Today I put my belt on for the first time in a few weeks as I had lost it it had run away Wink and I got it to the 3rd hole dead easy, before I could squeeze into the third hole, but not as comfy as today so yey. Im putting that down to the shred Grin

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 14/02/2012 22:44

Grin Well I daren't even count my points for today, had a V-day meal in with DH - starters, steak, chocolates, posh choccy puds, and a bottle of wine to share! Now am doing drunk cake-baking Grin (DD's birthday coming up!).

On the good side I am finally starting to feel like I'm really getting better from my cough etc, so don't care very much!

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 14/02/2012 22:45

oh and well done notvery, cross posted!

fivegomadindorset · 15/02/2012 07:08

We were meant to be having a healthy pheasant and cabbage casserole last night (sounds grim tastes amazing) however pheasant was still in the freezer when I got home so we had the main of our Valantines day meal (was going to do it tonight after weigh in). Anyway got on the scales today and have lost 2 of the three punds I put on since we went away last Wednesday and didn't get back into it until Monday so happy with that. Haveing starter and pudding tonight.

StealthPolarBear · 15/02/2012 07:14

Well done five :) Enjoy the best bits tonight!
MyNameIs, pleased you're feeling better, I bet you thought you never would at times.
Well despite the fact the diet has gone to pot (awful cold so just eating what I want) I am still 1lb down on last week. Which has inspired me to get going again. I want to be down to 13lb6 by the time we possibly go away on the 25th,

OP posts:
lilibet · 15/02/2012 12:22

Well after loosing 1lb a week, I've mananged 2lb. I have now lost 8lb since New Year. I'm very Grin

Not quite sure if it will stay off as I had a wonderful meal last night, I'm out for an Indian on Friday and then we are going away for the weekend.

I still need to exercise more but I'm still a lazy mare so that isn't happening at the moment.

My trousers that I'm wearing today are loose!! Grin

StealthPolarBear · 15/02/2012 12:30

Brilliant lili :o
Why not make the aim of the week not to put any on, then you can restart on Monday? Have a fantastic time

OP posts:
MABS · 15/02/2012 16:35

well done to you all, am havin bad half term re food

fivegomadindorset · 15/02/2012 18:19

Well done lili

Always nice when the clothes get a bit looser.

A miracle has happened and I stayed the same tonight on the scales so very pleased with that.

StealthPolarBear · 15/02/2012 20:53

Well done - enjoy your starter and pudding.
Can you tell us what it was? or do you worry it might cause jealousy :o

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 15/02/2012 20:53

CotherMuckingTwistedFunt · 15/02/2012 23:11

Congrats on losses everyone! I'm finding it hard being away from my scales Blush but I'm sticking to my diet so fingers crossed that when I get home next week I'll have stayed the same/lost some.

I was so inspired this evening. I went out with one of my best friends who I haven't seen for ages (bloody English channel gets in the way) and she has recently got down to her ideal weight after losing 5 stone. She looks bloody amazing! It was so good to see a 'real life' person (ie not a celeb) who has achieved what I want to. We went out to Pizza Express and had their 500cal pizza which was delicious followed by their 70cal mini chocolate truffle icecream and got chatted up by the waiters Grin. She has really given me a much needed boost to keep going.

StealthPolarBear · 16/02/2012 13:46

How's eeryone doing? Suppose half term is making this quiet. I'm ok. Broadly sticking to my cals. Need a kick start though or a load more motivation

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 16/02/2012 13:47

Cother that pe thing sounds lovely. Is the mini truffle thing the one that comes with coffee? No way that can be 70cal!

OP posts:
CotherMuckingTwistedFunt · 16/02/2012 15:26

That's the one - my friend downloaded all the cals for the desserts and swears that's all it is. I was sceptical but as I'd only had 2 rivitas during the day I wasn't too worried if it was more.

I'm now having my fourth period so far this year (bloody hormones/coil/cyst covered ovaries) so I'm bloated and feeling bleurgh. I did manage to stick to half a bagel for lunch with a couple of cocktail sausages though. Unfortunately the fun size pack of Maltesers wrestled me to the floor and jumped down my throat. Hey ho.

CotherMuckingTwistedFunt · 16/02/2012 15:29

Blimey - she's right! Tartufo al Cioccolat

StealthPolarBear · 16/02/2012 15:36

I really don't understand that! I love those and eat them all the time so pleased anyway :)

OP posts:
MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 16/02/2012 15:50

Mm it says the Semifreddo which I love is not that bad too! I feel a trip to PE coming on (specially as we just got a bunch of tesco vouchers in the post!).

I am trying to get back on track after the Valentine's Day pig-out, followed by DD's birthday yesterday (celebrated with sausages and cake!). Been quite good so far today though, plus I am feeling a bit more positive as DH commented that I was looking slimmer and I think I'm also noticing the difference myself (a bit) for the first time! Still some way to go, but at least it seems to be doing some good.

fivegomadindorset · 16/02/2012 19:01

Back again.

stealth - starter was hot smoked salmon tarts with watercress and I bumped it up to a main wth some steamed sugar snap peas, tenderstem brocoli, asparagus and fine beans which I tossed with olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
Main which we had on Tuesday was salmon with mint and feta cheese, rosti potatoes and salad, still haven't had pudding which is chocolate fondant pots, all that plus a bottle of wine for £20 which didn't think was too bad.

Rowgtfc72 · 17/02/2012 13:10

Well done everyone on the losses! Even a pound is a loss remember! I'm ordering the wedding dress on Monday-no point putting it off any longer-I need to know how much it doesn't fit by. On a brighter note actually plugged the PS3 in last night and did half hour of fitness trainer. It hurt like hell but didn't half give me a buzz. Would like to be less than 14st by end of Feb,only 9lb to go !
