We wil not let excuses best us
For 2012 will be the year
For weight loss, fitness and good cheer
Nine weeks of running isn't that long
So come on ladies, get those running shoes on!

Well done girls! All you week 7ers are a real inspiration.

i'll be back in two weeks as docs issued resting orders....

arabellacaterpillar · 18/02/2012 09:55

Back from week 7 run 2, using runkeeper for the first time. I enjoyed my own playlist much more but missed Laura's words of encouragement! Managed to cover 4.3km in 25 mins of running plus the 10 mins walking so 5.3kms in total - not sure how that measures up?
Anyway dh asked it was getting easier when i got in and i said not really....i know i can do it but i'm still struggling and am wanting it to be over!!
Will finish week 7 on monday night hopefully. Good luck running this weekend :)

spiderbabymum · 18/02/2012 09:55

Oh dear . energy levels flagging here .....Its the weekend ...always so much to do ..........Was on a total high after week 5 ..... did week 6 run 2 the day before yday ....had to hobble home after with a sore knee ...........
Now just tired ........feel like id love a week oFF ......

debka · 18/02/2012 09:57

Hi everyone, I'm back after a week's enforced rest, my hip went weird and I could barely even walk Confused. Seems better now so I went out last night, did a very gentle week 6 run 1 (again). So sick of bloody week 6, I want to move on!!

spiderbabymum · 18/02/2012 10:06

Know how u feel .

also so sick of house work and tidying . GGGGGrrrr

Lotsofchooks · 18/02/2012 11:13

After a couple of weeks of due to various things, I redid Wk 4 r3 to see if I could still run and I actually found it easier than when I first did it!

Went out in the rain this morning for Wk5 R1 and found it ok......bit apprehensive at whats coming though!

yehudiwho · 18/02/2012 12:00

I did wk5 r3 and actually ran for 20 minutes without stopping - I am very envious of you guys on week 7 but was really dreading this run and it was OK- hard but Ok. when I look back (as auntie Laura rightly said) I would never have beleived I could run for 20 minutes when i started this - at the end of week 6 i'm going to look back over my early posts on the other threads. Do you all remmeber when we were all dead chuffed with doing 1.5 minutes and dreading the 3 minutes !!

forgot to turn the GPS on runkeeper so no idea how far I ran - all I know is I did it!
also decided against the specialist running shop and will go for sport direct cheaper runnings shoes as cant afford the expense of posh running shoes

FunnysInTheGarden · 18/02/2012 12:49

well done yehudi I have to do W5R3 today and a dreading it too. I just need to get it over with I think

nomorecake · 18/02/2012 14:56

well done everyone. sitting in a carpark that I usually jog past, so just wondered how my fellow runners are getting on. Smile

I think New Balance trainers are great for running. I got some cushioned ones, reduced price from jjb and love them. plus they are made in the uk. paid about 25/30.
I think I remember them making different different types for different running styles. (i could be wrong about that!)

good idea about looking back at old posts, might do that later.

FunnysInTheGarden · 18/02/2012 16:26

well, I did it, W5 R3. I am really pleased with myself! It was hard, but not as bad as I had thought. Mind you it was only 2.5k of running, so double to go at my normal pace to get to 5K!

cece · 18/02/2012 16:42

Been away for a couple of days. Got back late last night so felt a bit tried this morning for w6r1.

But got in car and drove to a different bit of the canal path, the weather was nice, too hot in running trousers and long sleeved t shirt. But found it very tough. Made the mistake of thinking it would be easy, so went at too fast a pace at the start and had to walk for about 20 seconds of the first run. Sad

Still I bumped into a couple of people I know and they were impressed to see me out running apparently Smile

OneLieIn · 18/02/2012 22:19

Oh I have found you!!!!

10 days offfor skiing and work a snow back to it. W5r1 done this morning, I was expecting the very worst of achy legs, but it was ok!
Pheweeeeeeee

BettyBathroom · 18/02/2012 22:57

W5R3 done! Took a while to get into my stride, so slow to begin with then increased pace especially for the last 5 mins.

Well done everyone for sticking to it...looking forward to hearing about the finishers soon.

dotty2 · 18/02/2012 23:03

cece - I found that one hard, and I think others have too. Bit of complacency for me, I think, expecting it to be easy after the 20min one.

I did W7R2 today and found the first 10 minutes a horrible slog. It was windy, my legs felt like lead. But I got into it and also ran a different route for the rest of the way and it went OK. Ended up miles from home though as I realised the alternative was doing the last five minutes through our market square at the busiest time of a Saturday and I'm not that brave! It took me 20 mins to walk home when I'd finished. Am a bit sick of Laura for the longer runs so going to check out Runkeeper, I think.

Hope everyone who's on an enforced break feels better soon.

omydarlin · 19/02/2012 09:55

Just did my Sun morning weigh in and I've gone down to 88.5 from 89.3 kg so just over a pound lost but no longer 14st. I have been watching what I eat on my fitness pal but been over a couple of days and not always logged biscuits, handfuls of minstrels etc Also hada chinese this week so have not suffered on the food front at all. Did some my fitness coach yoga yesterday and am thinking those who do shred and c25k must be bonkers. Muscles aching just after that! So wk2 finishes tonight!

MrsPiccard · 19/02/2012 11:27

I'm mixing C25k with Shredding - those of you doing similar have at least one rest day or are you just pushing through?

QueenRunningGeekMum · 19/02/2012 11:43

Argh just had a nightmare of a run Sad

W7r1, started out in wrong frame of mind as had little sleep and having only just had breakfast. Found it a really hard slog. Runkeeper stopped working after 5 minutes so I didn't have any updates apart from Laura, music was shite, and finally had to stop running when waiting for cars to pass to cross road. Just couldn't get into a pace again so headed straight home.

In total did about 15 minutes running Blush which is ridiculous as I managed 25 minutes on Thursday.

Need some encouragement please for my next run on Tuesday.

weblette · 19/02/2012 12:57

Oh that's a bummer QRGM :( Running without the timings is really hard but you know you can do it, pompoms will be a-waving on Tuesday, enjoy your day off tomorrow.

W6R3 finally out of the way and could have gone on for longer. Conditioning class tomorrow, starting W7 on Tuesday. OMG did I just say W7??? Really didn't expect to still be going Grin

yehudiwho · 19/02/2012 13:01

grgm remember my week off-no doubts allowed. you know you'll go much better on your next one - like you said you werent in the right frame of mind- just do some visualisation of your winged heels flying over the ground tonight and you'll go like a dream

turningitaround · 19/02/2012 13:11

Just finished w8r3. Next week I'll be running 30 mins every run. Can't quite believe it. I feel so much better, have lost about 3.5 Kg so far and am so, so proud pf me!
qrgm I found w7 really tough (see last week's posts). W8 has been much much better. Just put today's run behind you and keep going.

MrsPiccard · 19/02/2012 13:12

QRGM Let it go - it was just a bad run and it doesn't mean anything. Everyone gets days where it doesn't work - even very experienced athletes. Go out on Tuesday, start slow and build up your pace when it starts to feel better and sort out the tunes situation now - I can't run without my tunes, legs just don't want to move.

Come on - you're on week 7 - that's amazing!

rusmum · 19/02/2012 13:17

Feeling better Grin wondering whether to do w4 or w3 tonight as had only done w4 and didn't manage any of it! Only managed w3 once properly Blush

bigbadbarry · 19/02/2012 13:53

I tried for W2R2 today after 10 days off to let me poorly knees recover - after 1 minute of running I knew I couldn't do it, the old knees were too sore :( Sp I went on the cross trainer instead but I don't want to do that I want to RUN! Feeling very sad (am not giving up).

jchocchip · 19/02/2012 14:18

Got to do week 8 run 3 once I have recovered from eating too much Sunday lunch... Will set out at 3.15ish... Must try and go faster today!

montague · 19/02/2012 14:29
