I am at the age where it is just a matter of (short) time before I develop a health problem relating to my weight - joints, Type 2 diabetes or even a heart attack. It really is that serious.
I am sick of not having any "nice" clothes (don't want to invest until I lose weight Hmm).
I did it in summer, stuck to it for ages which is something I have never managed to do. I CAN do it again.

So here's the plan. Back to foodfocus as of tomorrow. No days off (logging, although I may choose to eat more than I am "allowed". Everything must be logged.
No excessive competitiveness with myself. I truly believe this is part of the reason it all went wrong.

3 or 4 lb to lose every week. Might sound a lot but it's easy when you're big - I'm sure I could do it by just eating 3 normal sized usual meals a day. So pathetic if I can't.

Coming back here to report on progress. Caring and supportive thread but not accepting bullshit excuses!
Anyone want to join me?

Ripped in 30 in 30 is a Jillian Michaels dvd, follow on from the 30 day shred. Its 4 levels of workouts and you do each one for a week and it comes in around the 30 min mark all in. Its 3 mins strength, 2 mins cardio and 1 min abs X 3 but unlike the shred where you only had 2 strength exercises x 2 you now have 3 x 2. Its quite intense and it packs a lot into a short time, which is great as with 3 kids I have to fit it in when twins are at nursery.

Piggles · 02/01/2012 06:43

I inventoried our cupboards and fridge this morning, and am pleasantly surprised to report that we really haven't got much in the way of festive goodies left of course that is because I ate most of it last year, but still.

I am hoping DH will dispose of the few remaining bits himself before my restraint crumbles and I just scarf them - as I am terrible for not being able to leave such delicious things alone if I know they are in the house and I am feeling a bit peckish...

I made a pot of healthy soup for me to dip into whenever I feel genuine hunger pangs rather than greed munchies though, and am going to be firm with myself.

The soup is just a couple of cans of chopped tomatoes, a cup of cooked cannellini beans, a bit of chicken stock, half a white cabbage, a yellow pepper, a couple of sticks of celery, a big onion, a couple of cloves of garlic, a big carrot - cooked and then whizzed up with a stick blender and seasoned with lots of black pepper and a bit of Worcestershire sauce. It actually tastes pretty nice for something so darn healthy Grin

I even caught DH dunking crisps in it Hmm so it must taste okay.

Hi all,

I'm starting officially today though managed a run on the 31st and ate quite well yesterday.

I weigh 13st 3 this morning. I was around 12 st 7 when I got pregnant. My son is one at the end of January and I would love to be back to that by his birthday but anywhere in the 12's would also be a real achievement ok.

I have planned my food and logged it into MFP for today and have planned a new running programme with MiCoach (Adidas) with the first run today.

My exercise goals are to run 3 times a week and do two Shred (or similar)sessions.

Piggles I make a really similar soup but with split red lentils instead of cannellini beans. These days I tend to add chicken to get more protein and eat it on it's own for lunch but it's ace.

My other resolution is to keep up with the thread - I have a bad habit of dropping off them but I really want to stay with you all :o

Good luck everyone!

StealthPolarBear · 02/01/2012 10:35

Hi Piggles, lol at your DH dipping crisps in your soup!
johnny that sounds like a lot of exercise! Good for you.
I start today, so far have only had coffee. Think I'll hold out until lunchtime. Not really in the mood today though as I was the other day :( Have to hold off weighing myself too quickly though, as I'll get discouraged.
BTW, this may sound obvious, but dieting does work. I was always of the opinion that it didn't work for me, yet the one time I was actually honest about what I ate, monitored it and cut down the weght dropped off. I need to stop deluding myself that the odd chocolate makes no difference and so doesn't need to be logged. If I log EVERYTHING and I'm under my allowed calories, the weight comes off - in fact it comes of faster than they calculate it should.

Arrrrrh well after binging on crap for the last week my weight has now shot upto 11st 6lb, so annoyed with myself after dropping to 11st 1lb from 12st 1lb. Now I have all that hard work to do again :(
I would ideally like to get to 10st and stay there for our holiday in May, I cant face the beach at this weight.

johnnycomelurky · 02/01/2012 11:42

Aw clucking don't be too discouraged, usually when your weight goes up so quickly a lot is water weight (bloating) because carbs hold more water in your body, which means when you rein yourself in a for a bit, your weight should drop back down quite quickly. You'd have to have eaten something like 24,000 extra calories this week to actually gain half a stone!

Stealth I hope you get your diet mojo back, and if not go easy on yourself. Losing weight is a long slog so there are bound to be tougher and easier days. Also, you're right about it being a lot of exercise. I think that I'll aim to do the runs for now and add in the DVDs as I get fitter.

chindita · 02/01/2012 12:00

Hi all

I've just weighed myself - 14st 7lb - oh god it's bad.

So I'm starting today with sensible eating and exercise. Plus I've been told I'll be redundant at work so no unnecessary spending..

But the sun is actually shining in Cumbria, think I'll take a photo!

McPie · 02/01/2012 12:23

I weighed myself and am starting at 15st 8lb Sad
Have done my second workout and felt like I could do it all again, will see what I can get done after my dh gets home.

Snowsister · 02/01/2012 13:07

Afternoon all.
Well I reinstated my WW membership this morning online, I can use their online food diary again. Did yesterdays and even though I thought I was being v strict was actually 5 propoints over! Starting this diet not a moment too soon I think.

Tried weighing myself but DS2 has chucked the scales around so they read 7st 4lb which is halarious. Im expecting to be 12.6st at least when I get weighed tomorrow. Today have eaten yogurt and banana for breakfast. M&S fuller longer sandwich and apple for lunch. Just had a tin of chicken soup and realise I shouldve had vegetable but you live and learn eh?

Planning a veg pot for dinner.

Going to Rosmary Conley thing tomorrow evening to check it out, you have to take trainers and water. and get weighed. Will let you know if Ive been deluding myself Grin

clare8allthepies · 02/01/2012 14:47

Hi everyone, I'd like to join in please. Joined WW early december and lost 7 pounds in the first 2 weeks but gave myself christmas (and new year) off and suspect that I have put it all back on again. So from tomorrow am starting again, I'm 5 foot 2 and about 11 and a halfish stone. I have set myself a target of 9 stone by my hols in may so 2 and a half stones in 4 months. I am going to be shredding and c25k ing as well as sticking to my WW points.
Good luck everybody! Xmas Smile

MABS · 02/01/2012 15:49

I will go for a run tomorrow and be good food wise coz all back at school/work, but am eating winegums today :(

GlitterKitty · 02/01/2012 19:33

Impressed with the exercisers! Am hoping to start next week when I'm over the diet hump, ugh shred or jogging...

Day 2 of WW went well, despite going to MacDonalds with DP & DS who had burgers. I had a large diet coke with extra ice. [jealous]

Really want chocolate tonight. My eyes keep looking at the big tin of terrys choc orange segments sitting in kitchen. Think I'm going to rearrange my cupboards and shove all the bad stuff in the boiler cupboard so I dont have to see it anymore.

Snowsister · 02/01/2012 20:19

Do it GlitterKitty! Very impressed at your resisting any McD food, not even a fry? but is the boiler cupboard a good idea for storing chocolate? wont it all melt?

I put all ours in the garage where its too cold to go and get it in the eveningSmile

fivegomadindorset · 02/01/2012 20:33

Back to work tomorrow.

Dh is being an arse which is not helping my mood, he has refused supper so just had a jacket potato with ham, cheese, beans and butter, but don't feel I have put on stokning amounts of weight, wil get on scales in the morning and SW calls on Wednesday.

Will try the Wii Fit on Wednesday.

lydiathetattooedlady · 02/01/2012 20:48

Hi, can i please join you? As someone has also mentioned above, some rather unflattering photos of me have appeared on FB by my bil from xmas day. From the back I look like i have boobs hanging round my waist Sad dont even get me started on my 'gunt'!
It is my 30th in july too and dont want to be fat and 30!
I am starting tomorrow, have just made my chicken salad for work, will have wholemeal toast and eggs fro breakfast. I have the books for both SW and ww but i find if im craving something that isnt really allowed on one but is the other (ie massive potato and beans) I flit between the two which isnt goiong to get me anywhere.
Im 5ft1, weighed in yesterday at 11st 5.5lbs. Would like to lose 2stone by the end of may for my first wedding anniversary, again photos from that make me cry unless they're head shots, ready for 30th in the summer.

GlitterKitty · 02/01/2012 20:59

Snow- Not even a fry. One would have meant whole handfuls so better not go there! Grin

Boiler cupboard is weirdly cool, its in a sort of annex. Have considered shed but DP/DS complain.

Going to have an options hot choc soon. Meh. Still, will be worth it to be back to a size 12!

Does anyone else think:
8 = skinny
10 = slim
12 = normal
14 = little bit chubby
16 = yes, now you are fat

...no matter what height a person is? I know some shops are a bit off with sizing, but in general...?

Glad to see lots of other short women on here. I am 5ft and apple shaped, my stomach sticks out further than my boobs, not a good look Sad

GlitterKitty · 02/01/2012 21:01

Whats a gunt, Lydia?!

lilibet · 02/01/2012 21:03

I wish I could find a pedometer that works. I have three and they all count differently.

I've got my stepper out and done 20 minutes yesterday and today, I'm counting calories and have made some lovely soup to take to work tomorrow.

Bloody starving now though Sad

lydiathetattooedlady · 02/01/2012 21:05

ha ha, my friend introduced me to the term...it the bit between your gut (belly) and your fanjo (hence the 'unt') on the end! Mine is awful hangs in a bum shape (boak!)

HowlingBitch · 02/01/2012 21:05

I would also love to join you all. I'm 5ft7 and 16st 4lbs. I am sick of spending new years day being the only red faced sweating fatty at my inlaws as we all sit round the beautiful open fire. I shall be joining SW on Thursday and would love to lose 6st ASAP!

Good luck to everyone!

GlitterKitty · 02/01/2012 21:14

Oh, lydia thats made me laugh! Glad its just the droopy belly bit.

Hello Howling, I remember you from... was it masterchef? Faaack we ate all the pies... Grin

Why is being a fatty so sweaty? Its one of the worst things. Imagine a new man putting an unsuspecting lustful (ok, unlikely but bear with me) hand on your sweaty back... how embarressing

GlitterKitty · 02/01/2012 21:15

Can I just say, pink & whites dipped in options hot choc are really v good.

HowlingBitch · 02/01/2012 21:34

Are pink & whites allowed? I've never actually had one.

DaPrincessBride · 02/01/2012 21:40

Can I join you please? Just to give me a good kick up the arse! I lost 2 stone this summer, had a rough time and comfort ate like the world was ending and have managed to pile ALL OF IT back on...Angry

I am so ready to lose it again - aiming for 2 stone by June, hoping for more!

GlitterKitty · 02/01/2012 21:44

Pink & whites are in low fat, dry wafer sandwichy things with marshmallow filling. But at only 1.5 points for 2 (old style WW) this makes them v good. Caramallows not bad either.
