I am at the age where it is just a matter of (short) time before I develop a health problem relating to my weight - joints, Type 2 diabetes or even a heart attack. It really is that serious.
I am sick of not having any "nice" clothes (don't want to invest until I lose weight Hmm).
I did it in summer, stuck to it for ages which is something I have never managed to do. I CAN do it again.

So here's the plan. Back to foodfocus as of tomorrow. No days off (logging, although I may choose to eat more than I am "allowed". Everything must be logged.
No excessive competitiveness with myself. I truly believe this is part of the reason it all went wrong.

3 or 4 lb to lose every week. Might sound a lot but it's easy when you're big - I'm sure I could do it by just eating 3 normal sized usual meals a day. So pathetic if I can't.

Coming back here to report on progress. Caring and supportive thread but not accepting bullshit excuses!
Anyone want to join me?

hello! I've been checking in but have had nothing interesting about me to post really!

Well done to all the losses lbs and inches, and to getting in smaller clothes!

I think (if ive measured the right area of my gunt!) that ive lost nearly an inch. It's the one area im really bothered about so only measure that bit! I've been doing sit ups at home, i had an attack of the smeezes yesterday which killed my stomach muscles, i was yelping with pain between each one!

After not thinking im eating enough ive added a large salad to the lunch time meal instead of just crackers light philly and ham! whether it will make much difference of a or not i dont know!

Welcomemorecoffee good luck on your holiday diet! very jealous, we arent going anywhere this year just oin days out tovarious seasides and fun parks!

well done to your dh stealth

waves and hellos to everyone x

morecoffee, I have heard that myfitnesspal is better than food focus, I'm used to it and don't wantt o change but might be worth looking at both.

For lunch I am making cheap ryvita with exta light philadelphia, red onion, black pepper, a couple of slices of quorn ham and loads of beetroot.

We decided to have a hol as hadn't been away for years. Also, been trying to conceive dc number 3 for a year and its just not happened (prob due to weight) so we have decided to be grateful for the 2 amazing dc we have,I will loose weight (which I really want to as I am much happier when I'm slim) and have a well needed holiday. However, I would feel awful if I cannot shift this weight first!

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 19/01/2012 16:45

am I too late? I resolved to join but took a final couple of weeks to finally be ready to commit, started on 11th by revisiting my SW books and magazines and have stuck to it, lost quite a few pounds in the first week (always happens) but a very very long way to go (4st gulp) I have not even had a drink since the 9th which is impressive for me! really really want to succeed this time.

StealthPolarBear · 19/01/2012 16:52

Had subway for dinner, made sure it was Low fat, and a diet coke!

Diet coke is the second worst thing to drink ever, behind Tea!

Coffee does that mean, when you've lost some weight your going to try and conceive again?

lavendergirl123 · 19/01/2012 17:28

Diagnosed with Type2 diabetes on Christmas Eve. I started my weight loss regime on New Years' Eve. I weighed in at 13st. 8lb. Now down to 13st.

MABS · 19/01/2012 17:31

KateSpade · 19/01/2012 17:34

Has anyone ever taken them Alli diet pills?

Not that i am or am going to, just curious thats all...

MABS · 19/01/2012 17:46

i too am curious Kate :)

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 19/01/2012 17:55

Yep Kate did the pills lost nothing and had greasy poo! tmi sorry. I used to always be looking for a quick fix until I finally twigged that the only thing that works for me is to not go on a diet! someone upthread said 'lifestyle change' and that's what really works for me. SW for me is just the best, it is based on sensible food rather that calories or points so no weighing measuring or calculating and you can eat loads which suits my binge mentality. works on the basis of a whole load of 'free' foods that you can eat as much of as you like, red days which are free foods that include lean meat but not pasta or potatoes and green days where pasta potatoes and rice are free so all you pasta lovers can eat a plate load and still lose weight. honestly it does work. I buy the magazines for inspiration and eat more on sw that i did before, you even get 'sins' each day that you can use on whatever you fancy so stuff like biscuits and chocs can be calculated as sins and as long as you stick to the number allowed its ok. sorry I sound like an advert, I just hated reading about people feeling hungry and deprived, that is a recipe for disaster. Thanks for the welcome, I am determined (so far) lost loads a few years ago on it but went back to my filthy habits and it gradually all went on again this time its a permanent change please.

KateSpade · 19/01/2012 18:08

Yeah i've sort of realised it can't be a diet, it needs to be a lifestyle change! I'm doing WW, which is going quite well, but theirs been a couple of weeks I've only lost half, if i carry on loosing half, it'll take me years... Shock

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 19/01/2012 18:30

it will speed up if you keep following the rules Kate but you know already that a sustainable loss is 1 - 2 lb a week. think of it as a half less to lose and stay positive. know what you mean though, with 4 stone to lose it feels like forever before I see a difference, just wanna wake up slim Grin still it took me a while to get in this state so I have got to be prepared for it to take a while to get back. someone else has already said set small targets, I have a party on 12th Feb and I want to see a difference in my waistband a bit by then. hopefully half a stone or more lost as a starting point.

fivegomadindorset · 19/01/2012 20:48

Hello all, and welcome more, eccles and anyone else I have missed.

A holiday, how lovely, hopefully we are gong to Ireland this year thanks to Tescos and staying with friends and family, can't wait.

Congratulations to Mr Stealth.

Today has been good, ate a couple of chocolates at work, but a stressful afternoon, vegetable biryani tonight.

Can I ask anyone doing SW (if anyone else is) how is your farting because mine is hideous.

ballstoit · 19/01/2012 22:15

Hi everyone [waves].

I properly started WW last Thursday and lost the grand total of 1lb this week. I know that's okay, 1lb off is better than on, but I still feel a bit meh. I've been so good, and was hoping for a bigger starting loss. Especially as RL slimming buddy lost 5lb Shock

So, I've done my nails and straightened my hair as a 'treat' instead of food Smile

Has anyone tried SW and WW? Not together but at any point IYSWIM. I've always WWd before but the pro points is confusing me, and just seems to make it more difficult to eat 'real' food. Also, would SW be easier to fit into family cooking? I'm staying away at mo as I'm radioactive following some medical treatment, so it's ok to spend an hour a little while figuring out what to eat each day. But I love cooking, and normally have 3 DC to feed, so can't be arsed with seperate meals etc.

Sorry for the selfish post, and if this has already been covered I can't read 22 pages when I've already wasted an hour figuring out tomorrow's food

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 19/01/2012 23:24

Hi all, especially the new'uns!

I am doing - OK I suppose. Not been totally saintly today, but no pigging out either and have stayed within my daily points plus just a few of the weeklies which is alright.

Moved up to level 2 of the Shred today too, although DH decided to do it with me and was winding me up a bit. He is very good at the cardio so either tends to prat about a bit, or do everything at double speed and thudding like a heffalump even though he's lighter than me. Whereas I was feeling really tired and almost jacked it in halfway through, so that was annoying. Oh well! Had meant to do it earlier in the day, but DD wouldn't go to sleep so it was nearly 10pm, I hate exercising that late.

We have talked about going out for a meal tomorrow though so that will probably derail things a bit, but I don't care too much - anything where we can't occasionally have a meal out (and not just a frigging salad either!) would not work for me in the long term anyway!

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 19/01/2012 23:29

Oh forgot to say - I have bought myself a losing-weight incentive!

Have got a pair of GORGEOUS boots which I had coveted for ages but couldn't justify the expense. But then there was a pair almost new on ebay, so I decided to get them but have told DH I am not allowed to actually wear them until I reach my first goal (11st!).

I could cheat actually cos I am not telling him my weight or goals so he will have to trust me when I say I've got there Grin but I am determined not to cheat but just get rid of the remaining pounds as quickly as possible so I can go stomping in them!

Good plan do you think? Might have been more effective if it was something I needed to slim into perhaps... but the boots were what I really wanted.

fivegomadindorset · 20/01/2012 07:01

Weight losing incentives are very good.

StaceymAloneForver · 20/01/2012 12:19

well day 1 of shredding went ok, felt the burn in my legs, but thats gotta be a good things, hopefully keep it up every day if i don't ache too much tomo, cant deal with aching for zumba!

today's list of food so far is toast this morning, and a lovely cucumber sandwich for lunch, no idea for dinner, but got some pasta sauce that needs using so might have a small portion of pasta and some salad.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 20/01/2012 13:29

ballstoit yes in the past I did ww and then sw and much prefer sw as there is no counting points or anything. once you grasp the basics of free food and red and green days it is just sensible eating and I cook for the whole family. yummy recipes from the magazines and slight adaptions on stuff I make already I just leave off stuff like cheese for me and make the sauces a bit less creamy. I find it easy as I can eat loads and not be constantly thinking up calorie content which automatically makes me focus of food all the time.

MABS · 20/01/2012 13:39

did very short run this am, but just had a bad lunch and will drink tonight, am so crap :(

StealthPolarBear · 20/01/2012 14:17
