I am at the age where it is just a matter of (short) time before I develop a health problem relating to my weight - joints, Type 2 diabetes or even a heart attack. It really is that serious.
I am sick of not having any "nice" clothes (don't want to invest until I lose weight Hmm).
I did it in summer, stuck to it for ages which is something I have never managed to do. I CAN do it again.

So here's the plan. Back to foodfocus as of tomorrow. No days off (logging, although I may choose to eat more than I am "allowed". Everything must be logged.
No excessive competitiveness with myself. I truly believe this is part of the reason it all went wrong.

3 or 4 lb to lose every week. Might sound a lot but it's easy when you're big - I'm sure I could do it by just eating 3 normal sized usual meals a day. So pathetic if I can't.

Coming back here to report on progress. Caring and supportive thread but not accepting bullshit excuses!
Anyone want to join me?

So I have started the Wii Fit, apart from being obese I have a body age of 31 and as I am 42 then I am chuffed with that. Although my Mii expanded greatly when I was weighed the weight was quite accurate, I have done 15 mins of step, jogging a bit of hula hooping (I am crap) and some yoga.

Breakfast was a huge plate of beans with two slices of unbuttered granary bread, unch will be soup and babybel cheese and supper is chicken wrapped in parma ham with fried potaoes with red onions and some veg so all within cyns which seems very strange to me as it is a huge amount of food.

MABS · 17/01/2012 12:43

that's great Five and age 31 is fab! i can't hula hoop either at all. just did hour pt with my trainer, he weighs me each tues and i have lost 2lbs!! despite the pints of wine i had at w/e ;-)

momnipotent · 17/01/2012 16:23

Fabulous MABS! And awesome five with the Wii fit.

I've been to the vibration place this morning. It was kind of weird. There ARE machines right in the window but I used one that was facing the wall. And I was quite busy concentrating on clinging onto the machine so I didn't notice if anyone was looking at me!

It's weird. It reminded me of getting Braxton Hicks, all these muscles are contracting and you aren't doing anything to cause it. I shall be interested to know if I feel it later on, I could certainly feel something while I was on it! Today was just me getting used to the machine, then next time they are going to walk me through some exercises I can do while actually on the machine that makes it work different muscle groups.

Afterwards she weighed me on one of those machines that breaks down your body percentages of various things. The good news is that I have good bone mass and good muscle mass, and the bad news is everything else. I am quite dehydrated (no surprise), 45.2% of me is fat, and my metabolic age is 50 (I'm 42). Grrrr. So I came home and did 30 minutes with the Wii. :o

I'm planning on going back tomorrow and as many days as I can manage really. My coupon was for a 1 month membership so I want to see if it works and I can keep it up and if so I might buy a longer term membership.

MABS · 17/01/2012 18:12

thanks Mom :) well done with th vibrofit , sounds good, sure no-one was looking. Doing Body pump tmro BUT am going out for meal tonite!

StealthPolarBear · 17/01/2012 18:51

Mom I have always wanted to know how those things work. Calculating dehydration etc? What if you stood a statue weighing the same as you on the scales?

momnipotent · 17/01/2012 19:08

I have no idea how it works, somehow it measures things through your feet because I had to take my socks off to stand on it.

I did just Google it though and apparently "This transparent electrode scale uses Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA) technology to monitor your complete body composition. "

So now you know. Hmm I think that translates as measuring the electrical currents in your body and being able to tell body composition from that. Although they were able to tell me not only what percent of my body was fat but also how much fat was deposited around my inner organs (heart and lungs primarily) and I have NO IDEA how they could tell that from my feet, unless that kind of fat has different electrical currents than other fat? The mind boggles....

KateSpade · 17/01/2012 21:12

2lbs lost this week, extremely pleased. Aiming for another 2 next week!

StealthPolarBear · 17/01/2012 21:13

Well dine kate :)

fivegomadindorset · 17/01/2012 21:34

Well done Kate.

They have a powerplate at the sports centre that the DC's go to, I can't afford the membership fee or I might have given it a go.

Today has been a good day although still a bit peckish but maybe it's because I am watching Masterchef.

An no alcohol.

fivegomadindorset · 17/01/2012 21:35

Oh and also need to figure out what I can take into the prison for lunch or could I get away with going to Costas?

fivegomadindorset · 17/01/2012 21:36

I might see how much I am tomorrow morning as I will be on my feet all day (stock check) and I won't be going home before I go for my weigh in.

KateSpade · 17/01/2012 21:55

Thanks guys! 4 stone more to go! ...Shock

fivegomadindorset · 17/01/2012 21:57

Which is half what I have to do. [sigh]

This WILL be the year.

momnipotent · 17/01/2012 21:59

Half what I need to do also. I try not to think about it otherwise the mountain seems too high!

Kate, is it WW you are doing? I'm wondering if I should try it again. Hmmm, but the meeting times are crap for me!

redstormrising · 18/01/2012 07:45

Hi all,

Well, my scales at home in the morning did not register a weightloss, but the scales at WW registered a 2.5 pound weightloss! I'm going with those ones!

I had a glass of wine last night, but back to being alcohol-free now. Tonight we have planned a starter of avocado and tomato salad; then pork slow-roasted with fennel seeds and red cabbage and then fruit salad with natural yoghurt. I am eating breakfast now (weetabix, prunes and banana) and find I am not hungry during the day. I need to add some veg there somewhere though.

hope you all have good days. Cold out there. brrrrr.

StaceymAloneForver · 18/01/2012 10:51
