I am at the age where it is just a matter of (short) time before I develop a health problem relating to my weight - joints, Type 2 diabetes or even a heart attack. It really is that serious.
I am sick of not having any "nice" clothes (don't want to invest until I lose weight Hmm).
I did it in summer, stuck to it for ages which is something I have never managed to do. I CAN do it again.

So here's the plan. Back to foodfocus as of tomorrow. No days off (logging, although I may choose to eat more than I am "allowed". Everything must be logged.
No excessive competitiveness with myself. I truly believe this is part of the reason it all went wrong.

3 or 4 lb to lose every week. Might sound a lot but it's easy when you're big - I'm sure I could do it by just eating 3 normal sized usual meals a day. So pathetic if I can't.

Coming back here to report on progress. Caring and supportive thread but not accepting bullshit excuses!
Anyone want to join me?

Well weigh in day today and I have put on half a lb. Not happy Sad

Ive been really good this week too. Most of the time I was inbetween my goal line and my maintain weight line, a couple of days I was under my calorie goal line. Though yesterday I did have some beer last night so its probably that. Agghhhhhhh!!!!!!!!

oh well back to it again.

StealthPolarBear · 15/01/2012 12:19

sorry to hear that. Lots of us seem to be struggling at the moment. What can we do about it? Anyone got any bright ideas? I am completely demotivated. Just had ryvita (well a cheap version), philadelphia, quorn ham, onion and beetroot. It was nic enough but I could have had another 6 platefuls. Might snack on beetroot this afternoon. Free rein on the beetroot...lucky me Hmm
DD made giant choc chip cookies with her CM on Friday. She brought 2 home and they are calling me.

Haven't posted for a couple of weeks so just checking in. I have lost a total of 9lb so far (started after Christmas). I had a really bad few days last week with the calorie counting, basically being sensible in the day and then pigging out on chocolate/crisps in the evening and going way over my calories needed. Since then I have decided to go low carb, it is the only way I can control myself.

MABS · 15/01/2012 14:57

good for you Moti :) no bright ideas Stealth, am feeling rubbish and very negative in truth

StealthPolarBear · 15/01/2012 15:15

oh bloody hell, I bought a load of organic carrots yesterday as they were cheap. To snack on. Just realised each carrot has 25 cals. I could ahve a mini mars bar for the 3 I've just eaten. I don't feel any fuller. Crunching was nice.

MABS · 15/01/2012 17:48

very funny!

lydiathetattooedlady · 15/01/2012 20:05

stealth sorry but i did have a giggle at the carrots! thats what i meanabout the 'healthy' snacks, i never feel satisfied.

I was wondering if any of you have any nice lunch ideas? I only have a kettle and no microwave at work, im really struggling to find something nice for lunch to take that isnt on bread or with pasta!

My daily food seems to be
B-belvita and sometimes a yoghurt
L-matzo crackers with light philly and wafer thin ham
D-salad/soup

im getting abit bored with crackers!

well done moti on the loss.
im hoping to get down to 11stone by sunday which is 2 1/2lbs as of today.

really want a crisp butty right now Sad

KateSpade · 15/01/2012 20:30

apart from my 3lb gain, I've been loosing weight at 1/2 a lb a week, getting more exercise is my main priority. Just wanted a general moan! ARGH!

Wow, lydia that daily food plan, is good, I'm surprised you can stick to that, their dosnt seem like a lot of food their. I might try that from now until tues - weigh-in day!
How many points are the belvita breakfast bars?

lydiathetattooedlady · 15/01/2012 20:40

Hi kate its hard i admit, i just fill up on water and squash Blush The lack of food is why im a bit miffed at hardly losing anything! im under 1200 a day most days and exercising. MAybe i need to eat more! (looks hopeful)

The ones with yoghurt in are 6pp for the packet and you get two.

MABS · 15/01/2012 21:16

sounds good Lydia

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 15/01/2012 21:52

Sorry everyone is feeling a bit Sad today. At least it's the start of a new week...

Lydia wow you are really hardly eating anything! Maybe you DO need to eat a bit more? I would find that very hard to stick to and fairly sure I would be dizzy and shaky for most of the time... never mind trying to exercise as well.
As for lunches, I have sometimes taken in cold leftovers from dinner, usually rice-based things like the kedgeree-type thing I mentioned before and quorn biryani. They are fine cold, but must admit they are nicer hot so I was very happy to spot a new microwave that appeared in the work canteen!

Well I weighed in this morning and to my surprise was 2lb down so am feeling quite Grin That is despite a couple of slips in the last week, although one was last night (too much wine, bread and chocolate) so probably hasn't caught up with me yet... Still I have been quite good today to make up for it. Going up to 29 points has really helped as it feels much more achievable and allows more "normal" food. I'm also fitting in as much exercise as I can, to earn more points so I can eat more! Grin

StealthPolarBear · 15/01/2012 22:13

Well done :o

Went to a party last night - so lots of booze and lovely buffet food was calling my name. Bah, I am so weak-willed when it is all there laid out in front of me. So had several double Jack Daniels with full fat coke, and ate probably more than my fair share of the meatballs and green bean casserole Blush

It doesn't show up on the scales today though, so hopefully if I am really good this week my weight will still be going in the right direction when I weigh in again next weekend. I was 220lb on Jan 1st, and am now 215lb, so slowly going down.

StealthPolarBear · 16/01/2012 07:32

I still seem to be losing weight - was 14lb4 this morning. I really need to go to boots or something and get weighed on some decent scales
(wonder f the docs would let me sneak in and use theirs)

StaceymAloneForver · 16/01/2012 09:24

Hi people, sorry to hear some of you are demotivated, remember also if you are exercising a lot (and haven't much before) your fat will turn to muscle which is naturally heavier :)

also obviously measuring your wrist won't show much Blush but waist, hips, legs etc are good indicators. (never realised people added it all together for total loss, thats a bit weird to me, i just say what i've lost on each)

I have measured today, waist is 30" Hips are 40", chest is 32" and overbust (to get in the wedding dress is 34" (which should fit, now if only it would do up round my waist so i could find out Grin) so feeling quite positive!

StealthPolarBear · 16/01/2012 09:33

Well done Stacey
Don't dare measure my waist - not sure they do tape measures long enough.

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 16/01/2012 10:44

It really bugs me when beauty salons etc add up the inches people have supposedly "lost" from different places and give some silly figure like 15 inches lost!

As far as I'm concerned that is a load of pants. If someone has lost 1 inch off their stomach and half an inch off each thigh, they have lost "up to 1 inch" - or, 1 inch from stomach and 1/2 an inch from thighs! It does not mean they have magically lost 2 inches, else they would be fitting in their clothes a lot better than they are! (It would be a bit like "losing weight" by chopping off your leg....)

No surprises this method is usually used mostly by places that are trying to sell stuff (diets, treatments etc etc)...

Piggles · 16/01/2012 11:59

Grin arf at losing weight by chopping off a leg.

I don't fully understand the inches lost thing Confused and the ways in which it can be wankishly added up to make it sound more impressive, but if the measurement of my massive arse decided to decrease I know I would be very happy.

Right now I've got a 44 inch bust, 32 inch waist and 47 inch hips... I don't even want to put the tape measure around one of my thunder thighs though as it might make me cry... also, stupid cat is dangling from the end of the tape measure now and she has sharp corners, so don't want to twitch it over my flabby leg and risk serious injury to my blubber.

Thinking about it, I actually don't know if my bathroom scales are accurate either, though I suppose if I consistently weigh myself on the same scales it doesn't matter too much what they say I weigh, as long as the number is going down and/or my clothes are getting looser.

momnipotent · 16/01/2012 13:38

By the miracle that is AF I managed to lose 1.5 lb last week! I've found that very motivating although I totally didn't deserve it. This morning I am going to play on the kids' Wii AND call the whole body vibration place.

I realized yesterday that the woman that writes a cookbook that I use quite frequently actually creates weekly meal plans of 1200 calories a day, vegan meals. I'm tempted except sometimes I can't buy all the ingredients in my town. I'll see how I get on on my own but nice to have a back up plan.

momnipotent · 16/01/2012 16:03

Wii: check
call vibration place: check

I played Just Dance for about half an hour. They have 'settings' where you can select a workout so I selected to do 3 songs per day. It doesn't sound like much but actually it was much harder work than I expected! And the time just flew by because it was actually fun. Yay!

The vibration place says I just have to show up for an orientation and then they will get me all set up and show me how to use the machines. In the pictures on their website it looks like the machines are right in the window of their shop! If that is truly the case then I might not go again after the orientation. I think I will try and go there tomorrow.

StealthPolarBear · 16/01/2012 16:07

Well done mom :o

MyNameIs - that's it, exacly! Surely you can claim to have lost 100 inches just by measuring your arm in 100 slightly different places :o

So far have had
2 pieces of granary bread and low fat butter and marmite
2 bananas
small tin of tomato soup and 3 babybel mini cheeses light of course
Supper is sea basd fillets and roasted vegetables with couscous.

StealthPolarBear · 16/01/2012 18:23
