Thread for all those who attend a gym or are planning to start going. I've had so many threads on here, tried so many things, but I think I've finally found something that is going to help me lose the weight I need to.

I lift heavy things, then put them back down. I do this in a variety of ways and it helps me lose weight, or at least have more muscle than fat.

I'm keeping the diet simple, moderation, and trying to eat less carbs than normal.

Only just started this regime but when I did low carb a few weeks back, I lost 2lbs in a week with no gym membership!

I have quite a soppy goal too: I'd like to have made enough progress by Valentines Day to wear a dress, should me and my boyfriend do something together :) BF, incidentally, thinks I'm lovely as I am :) but at 5 foot 2 and 12 stone 7, something has to change in my book! :)

LollipopViolet · 17/01/2012 20:04

Off to the gym tomorrow after uni. Hopefully abs have recovered enough to do some more exercises for them, as well as the rest of my workout :)

Well done MABS
Lollipop - good luck.
As I have no car I cannot go to work tomorrow so I'm going to do Pilates instead (after swimming and yoga) so I'll walk like Frankensteins monster tomorrow night!

MABS · 18/01/2012 12:15

drank way too much last nt and ate fried whitebait..not good, sorry girls!. today i have backache and am really hurtin so can't go to gym, and am very pissed off :(

TalkinPeace2 · 18/01/2012 12:40

((MABS))
Go for a walk in the rain - clear your head.
Whitebait - YUMMY but not good for the waist!
Wine - slap yourself on the wrist ; trying to stay dry Monday through Thursday from now on will help

cardibach · 18/01/2012 15:20

I am going to my trainer tonight, though have never felt less like a workout. I'm really fed up (worryingly so) about crap at work. I'll do my best, though.

TalkinPeace2 · 18/01/2012 15:22

((cardi))
tell your trainer about the stress at work and ask them to think of exercises that will distract you from it
can you slot in something like a bodypump or a zumba that will totally clear your head?

you are so right Talkinpeace, just had crap day re ds disabity and medical stuff and was weak. tell you what, my back is so tight i will struggle to walk :(

LollipopViolet · 18/01/2012 17:22

Well, I went to the gym, after a rotten old day trying to sort uni stuff (thankfully sorted). Got a good workout in, including being brave and going on the vibration plate thingy :)

Glad your workout went well.
I have a suspicion that I'm going to break my booze rule over supper as DH has come home after a 4 hour drive and is making chips .....

MABS · 18/01/2012 19:34

a glass won't kill you TP :) just that i had bottle last night, none today.

TalkinPeace2 · 18/01/2012 20:58

:-)
I was good - we split a bottle of beer and are now having tea!
I worked till midnight last night so crashing out early beckons
That and it was a light supper because with car hassles I'd forgotten to go shopping : NOT the best weight loss technique ......

cardibach · 18/01/2012 21:40

Thanks TalkinPeace. It was really good actually. Very hard work, all weights based and focussing onmy bum, which got me well and truly out of my head! I felt better having done something just for me as well. Think I may have issues with both sitting down and standing up tomorrow though!

MABS · 19/01/2012 08:38

glad you had a good even TP, hope you can move today Cardi ;-) I was great with food yesterday, and will be today, no booze, but i have hurt my back so really struggling, can't go to gym ..

TalkinPeace2 · 19/01/2012 22:25

keep walking - backs are better as the muscles get stronger - keep moving if you possibly can

MABS · 20/01/2012 17:58

managed a short 2k run today so bit brighter :)

LollipopViolet · 20/01/2012 19:12

Not been able to go to the gym for the past 2 days as I've not finished uni til 5 and if I go then, buses are a nightmare.

However, I finish at lunchtime on Monday so will definitely go then :)

Can't go to the gym for at least two weeks as signed off work :(
Will continue walking, though.

TalkinPeace2 · 20/01/2012 21:06

why does being signed off stop you going to the gym?
think of it as self funded physio
spend EVERY hour you can there
(mate in classes is signed off and says "stuff em" as they will not book him physio appts)

LollipopViolet · 22/01/2012 14:17

Well, a surprise gym session at O Dark Thirty this morning (OK, it was about 10am, but I was up at 7, when it WAS dark!) with my friend. Got a REALLY good workout in, so will rest tomorrow, and go again on Tuesday.

TalkinPeace2 · 22/01/2012 14:22

I've been out in the garden all morning. Sore back!

LollipopViolet · 22/01/2012 15:17

Oooh I didn't ache much when I got home but I'm starting to feel it now!

Trainer tomorrow. Hope I have lost weight (well, I know I had yesterday, just hope her scales shows it too). Hope I can keep up with her!

MABS · 25/01/2012 13:54

i hadn't lost ysdty when pt weighed me :( done tennis lessonb and pump today tho

cardibach · 25/01/2012 22:09

Trainer agrees that I have lost a kilo! However, she still nearly killed me with a range of tough stuff, especially abs exercises. Going away for the weekend so hope I don't wreck the good work!
