Anyone want to join me?

There is of course another week of indulgence left before we have to start but thought it might be good to get into the right mind set.

Hi eveyone, hope it's not too late to join in. I will email you UCM if that's OK; can't get the official weight until later tonight - but will send rough guide.
thanks

spacedonkey · 03/01/2006 13:03

I'll have to withdraw - no scales!

Furball · 03/01/2006 13:06

Spacedonkey - Just pop in to Boots next time you're in town.

JenumGeranium · 03/01/2006 13:10

How is everyone doing today?

Have most people started today? I am doing ok - its quie nice actually not to have that stodged out feeling!

I had tea and toast for brekkie (only cos dh was at home too - normally have cereal!) and am just about to sit down to tuna pasta with spring onions (wholemeal pasta too!).

I have managed 1 and a half 500ml bottles of water - aiming for 4 a day.

Will be having salmon and rice for dinner!

Amateurpsych · 03/01/2006 13:42

I lost 1.5 stone last year on GI diet - another 10 pounds to go.....Wanted to share the finds that got me through the darker hours:

  • Hellmans extra light mayonaise (purple label) boursin extra light (mixed with a bit of the mayo makes a good dip) Skinny Cow icecream - the chocolate one in the tub, green & blacks mini squares of dark mint choc. Good luck to all xxxxx
sarahinphuket · 03/01/2006 15:01

I did really well yesterday

cherries for breakfast
wholemeal pasta and tuna salad for lunch
steamed fish and rice for dinner

today have pigged out a bit more - cos I'm bored;
breakfast = 1 grapefruit, i apple 1 banana
lunch - pasta salad
dinner - salmon broccoli and potato
snacks - ryvita with humus.

I know that all this is pretty healthy but on the diet I'm following (the Liver Cleansing Diet) I'm not supposed to have more than a couple of snacks a day and I've had about 4!!

Also I can't have any dairy but I've just tried making ice cream for the first time for DD so of course I had to try that.

OH well. I'm back to work tomorrow so at least I'll be occupied with thoughts other than food!!

CountessDracula · 03/01/2006 15:27

I have done well so far today

grape nuts and skimmed milk for brekkie

Ryvitas, cottage cheese (v low fat one) with pineapple, 5 mini tomatoes, 2 beetroots and a scrape of low fat cream cheese for lunch

two coffees with no sugar

3 glasses of water

melrose · 03/01/2006 15:29

Yes please!! Going to Australia in 8 weeks and want to be thinner!

LoveMyGirls · 03/01/2006 15:30

not fair you're all doing better than me - well done! i have had cornflakes, boiled eggs, bread and marg and a slice of choc cake!!! (oops)
am having stew for tea though.... must try harder i am going into town in a bit to get some scales to give me a kick up the backside!

DustAnyone · 03/01/2006 15:37

Happy Birthday figleaf!

I'm starting tomorrow as well coz thats when the kids go back to school and I go back to work.

tangerinecath · 03/01/2006 15:37

UCM I've just emailed you - could you please add me to your spreadsheet?

My weight has yo-yo'd over the past few years, I've never been really slim but when I gave up smoking about 6 years ago I put on 3 stone, lost all 3 stone in the year before I got married by doing Slimming World, got pg fairly quickly after the wedding and put all the weight back on, and some more as well.

We still have an obscene amount of chocolate in the house and last night dh and I sat watching telly in bed wading through a mammoth tin of peanuts & cashew nuts - THIS HAS TO STOP NOW!!

I haven't been too bad today - bran flakes for breakfast and pasta for lunch, but I nicked a few chips from a colleague at lunchtime

Will start in earnest tomorrow.

TGC x

busywizzy · 03/01/2006 15:39

Not too bad a start -
1 shredded wheat for brekkie and a cup of tea (one sugar - can't give that up and it's going to be my luxury)
Pasta with tomato sauce for lunch, pear
Slice of bread from new breadmaking machine
Chicken Kiev with salad planned for tea

Not doing so well with drinking water - poured a arge glass this morning and it's still on the table

No exercise yet as DH and DD are at home as well me and little one but plan to go for a walk when DS wakes up.

Have cleansed the house of all 'naughty' food so I can't be tempted. How painful was that putting boxes of unfinished choccies in the bin!!!!

spacedonkey · 03/01/2006 15:40

I've had porridge made with water and a blob of honey for breakfast, one cup of coffee, one cup of tea, several herb teas, one crispbread, and a small handful of cashews and dried cranberries. Having brown rice with roasted veg and pine nuts and soy sauce for dinner.

It's rather nice after all that christmas food

spacedonkey · 03/01/2006 15:41

for anyone that doesn't like drinking water (like me) - herbal teas are just as good (as long as you don't sweeten them). I drink gallons of camomile and roiboos tea.

Earlybird · 03/01/2006 15:42

You know, one of the things that always slows me down when trying to diet, is how to stock the kitchen. It's definitely a matter of personal preference, but would help me immensely to have a "master" shopping list of good diet foods. I could print it off and take it to the supermarket, rather than spending ages wandering the aisles, reading labels, getting discouraged/confused.....

Anyone else have the same problem? Should we start another thread?

wilbur · 03/01/2006 15:43

I've just emailed you on your hotmail address, UCM. Not doing too bad today - had lunch (sandwich, no mayo) with motherinferior after a long walk trying to stop ds1 assaulting the inferiorettes so at least I got some exercise.

JenumGeranium · 03/01/2006 15:44

I find it hard to drink water, but I find I can easily drink 4 of those 500ml sports bottle in a day. The ones I drink are tesco own - v cheap!
They dont seem as daunting as seeing a whole 2ltr bottle of water you have to drink in front of you.

I have to drink them before 6pm though otherwise I am peeing all night!

melrose · 03/01/2006 15:44

I sorted of started this before Christmas but went a bit off track!! Started having an organic fruit and veg box delivered which I find really good as always have lots of fruit and veg in and do not have to go through the temptations of going shopping!

I am doing OK today, made some yummy veg soup yesterady which I had for lunch and is v healthy as only has veg and stock in it.

Good luck everyone!!

JenumGeranium · 03/01/2006 15:45

sounds like a good idea Earlybird! I could use some help with that too!

omtmum · 03/01/2006 16:06

The sports bottle full of water is a great idea esp having it all before 6pm!! Having a good day, no snacking (which is always my downfall) and just putting jacket potatoes in the oven to have with grilled chicken and salad. Am going to try and not have any wine during january as a. had way too much leading up to and during christmas and b. it always weakens my resolve not to snack.

Am hopeful I can hold onto my resolve this time..day one going well

tangerinecath · 03/01/2006 16:23

On the whole (apart from the Christmas Choccy) my diet isn't really too bad anyway. My problem is that I have a very sedantory lifestyle - anyone got any ideas on how I can fit in exercise between an 18mo dd, a full time job and a long commute? Weekends tend to be taken up visiting friends and family and catching up with housework, and weekdays are already hectic enough!

Alternatively, you could just tell me to get up off my lumpy bum and stop making excuses

JenumGeranium · 03/01/2006 16:24

get up off your lumpy bum and stop making excuses!

Berries · 03/01/2006 16:28

can I add myself to this late? Have emailed my details to you, UCM. Started ww last year & lost a stone without too much trouble, but then broke my foot, have since out 1/2 stone back on, but need to lose at least 2 more. Can't go to ww any more as dh works away that night now, so will be doing it at home, but need the motivation.
Also, will probably not start til next Monday, but will try & make sure I don't put any more on by then - am going dry for January so that will help!

JenumGeranium · 03/01/2006 16:30

I'm feeling hungry

lilibet · 03/01/2006 16:35

I have a slightly different plan but would love the encouragement of a weight losss thread.

I plan to loose 5lb per month and so am only going to weigh myself on the first of every month. I think that this doesn't sound too much of a battle, I really have about 2 1/2 stone to loose but think that if I tackle it in 5lb chunks I may be able to manage it better and should be at my target weight by summer.

I've had a very good two days, no snacking sensible meals, and most importantly no alcohol. I am only going to drink on Fridays and Saturdays, so roll on the weekend!
