Right! My head is in the right place to start eating healthily. Have logged my details on MFP and have planned a healthy shopping list. Does anyone want to join me to lose 2 stone before Christmas????

OP posts:
loudee · 30/09/2011 15:13

Yes! I need someone highly motivated such as your good self to give me a kick up my well padded posterior. What's MFP?

fannybaws · 30/09/2011 15:18

Me too, I have always been an evening eater but it has got much worse recently so apart from nights out,1-2 a month, I am not going to eat anything after 8pm!
Have 2 stone to loose too and can't wait to feel slim again and enjoy clothes shopping .

chirpchirp · 30/09/2011 20:40

Count me in cocktail! I think I've been something close to slim for about 20 minutes of my entire life back in 2006. I turn 30 in less than a month and don't want to spend another decade making excuses about my weight. Picked up a copy of Paul McKenna in a charity the other day so will give that a go and going to give couch to 5k another crack.

Loudee - My Fitness Pal. :)

heather1 · 30/09/2011 20:43

I would like to join too. Just moved house so now have some time to lose some lard. 2 stone sounds about right!
Off to bed as DS woke a 4am this morning. He better not for Saturday.

gailforce1 · 30/09/2011 22:26

I'm in but could someone please explain what My Fitness Pal does?
Anyone thinking of joining WW or SW?
Chirp there is a Paul McKenna thread on here and many have had success with it.

omydarlin · 01/10/2011 07:19

gailforce , my fitness pal is an online calorie counter it is american but has all your supermarket foods on it. It great ! I would love to join you all have been logging all week with mfp after too long a break. I know what my magic formula is I just need to stop being an emotional eater. I have to eat less, move more, drink enough water and write it down. have also just bought my fitness coach for wii lets see how that goes!

chirpchirp · 01/10/2011 09:54

Thanks gailforce. Will check it out.

I have signed up with MFP in the past but never remember to log in ever day, I find writting it all down in a simple note book worked for me in the past.

Going to get myself to the gym, start as you mean to go on and all that!

Cheeser · 01/10/2011 09:59

Can I joIn? I also want to lose 2 stone. I'm getting married in May and I really really want to feel good in my dress and look good for photos.

I need to snack less, exercise more and probably cut back on wine consumption!

Will also register for MFP and see how that goes

Smile
loudee · 01/10/2011 10:12

I'm actually signed up to WW but not really sticking to it Blush but MFP - thank you chirp -looks like it does pretty much the same thing for free so I might carry on with that.

Cheeser wine consumption is definitely a problem for me too.

I am also embarrassingly unfit and bearing a striking resemblance to the pillsbury dough boy.

If anyone feels like sharing healthy recipes I'd be very grateful Smile

nowwearethirtysix · 01/10/2011 10:38

2 stone before Xmas? Count me in! I'm hoping a combination of mfp, low carbing and lots of veggies will get me there. I'm working in kgs and figure that 2 stone equates to about 12.5kgs which would be great for me...

omydarlin · 01/10/2011 13:48

Im worried though is two stone for xmas realistic? my maths is dodgy but doesnt it work out about 3lbs a week??Sod it lets just aim high - Heck i'll be happy with two dress sizes !

ZimboMum · 01/10/2011 14:20

Count me in too please. I need to stop eating biscuits whilst bf ds, healthy low carbs, exercise more and lay off the cider!

Will have a look at MFP tonight.

ZimboMum · 01/10/2011 14:25

Oh yes - would love to share recipes.my idea of low carbs means I often cook meat and veg and not eat any potatoes. Am sure there must be more to it!

I have a fab low fat spaghetti carbonara recipe if anyone wants it!

Cheeser · 02/10/2011 09:29

Low fat carbonara recipe?! Yes please Zimbomum!!

Some of my fave healthy-ish recipes are mainly variations of a small amount of wholewheat spaghetti with either steamed broccoli and chili, or roasted veggies like butternut squash, mushrooms and herbs.

I read a book recently (Allen Carr's Easyweigh to lose weight) and there were some interesting ideas in there. Based on a kind of evolutionary perspective, he says fruit should be eaten on an empty stomach so it's digested most efficiently (so ideal for breakfast) and that protein and carbs should never be eaten together, because the stomach acids needed to breakdown protein don't work well when the alkaline is present to break down the carbs. So it means neither gets digested properly and it leads to bloating and sluggishness.

It was pretty interesting and the theory behind it kind of makes sense (although I've probably explained it wrong!)

He also recommends cutting out all dairy but I love tea with milk, and yoghurt so havent really managed to cut down on that.

I really struggle with snacking. There always seems to be some form of cake/sweets/biscuits at work and no matter how good I am at home, I can't resist little treats at work. Don't really know how to combat this Sad

hambo · 02/10/2011 09:30

me! i need to lose 2w stone too! great....

hambo · 02/10/2011 09:36

I did scottish slimmers before and lost about 1 stone so I might do that again...it s great as you HAVE to eat some dairy every day and veggies are 'free' so you end up really healthy as well as slimmer! I had to write down what i ate and it was really interesting - I was eating loads in the evening and when i stopped that it made me alot lighter!!!!You guys have inspired me...Should we write down our weights here?

omydarlin · 02/10/2011 10:09

woop! lost 6lbs this week since I restarted on mfp but back to my original start weight in march :-( I have really upped my water intake this week. Had a couple of meat free days and resisted the little feel good treats like choccy, wine, cider, biscuits ( the work of the devil) and preparing my lunches etc so I don't have to succumb to a pasty at work.

I don't know if this is poss but I would dearly love to lose a stone this month as we are going to cornwall end of half term or at least look like Ive lost a stone!! Currently 14st 1lb arrrgggh!! I'm 5ft 7 there you go in black and white!

Any want to add me on mfp I am smileylittleorange!

Cheeser · 02/10/2011 14:53

I've sent you a friend request, omydarlin.

Roasted salmon and veggies for lunch/dinner tonight. Which is good but I've had so much to drink this weekend Blush

Since Friday night I've had three big glasses of pimms, Sloe gin sh

Cheeser · 02/10/2011 14:56

Grr damn iPhone it posted before I wanted it to.

So, sloe gin shots and about six glasses of White wine and one large glass of Rose. And there's another scheduled pub visit to come today

BUT I have a personal training session at 7am tomorrow morning Shock which hopefully will kick me on to the straight and narrow.

Is everyone in the garden this afternoon? Am in Gloucester this weekend and weather is fantastic.

ZimboMum · 03/10/2011 06:22

low fat carbonara

1/2 pack-ish of lean bacon, chopped
One onion, chopped
125ml White wine
125ml chicken/veg stock
1 pack low fat garlic and herb soft cheese
As much pasta as you want

Dry fry the bacon in a non stick frying pan and once cooked add on the onion. Fry for about a min and then chuck in the wine. Bubble the wine to boil off the alcohol until reduced by half and then add the stock. Simmer while you cook the pasta. Once pasta done add the soft cheese to the sauce and stir it in. Then add the pasta and voila!

I sometimes add brocolli as well to the pasta water for last few mins.

ZimboMum · 03/10/2011 06:25

The only problem with the above recipe is that it has wine in it. So having opened the bottle you have to finish the bottle have a glass :o

beararse · 03/10/2011 06:37

Right. I'll tag along please. I lost almost a stone with foodfocus.co.uk earlier in the year but I have put most of it back on over the last couple of months. DH is doing a long distance bike ride in the spring and wants to get fit for that so we're planning a team effort but he's had food poisoning this weekend so has a head start Grin

We're visiting family later this week so I won't be recording things properly until I'm back but will try to get my head into the right place. 2 stone is definitely doable in 11 weeks (but I have a lot to lose).

Argh sorry!Argh sorry!

loudee · 03/10/2011 07:40

thanks for the recipe zimbo sounds delicious.

I'm starting properly today. monday is always the best day to start after all!

i'm 13st 1lb and really don't want to be this bloated before christmas is even here. sugar is my main problem (in any guise) so i think the first couple of days might be hard as my poor abused body gets used to vitamins and minerals.
