Anyone care to join me on the Couch to 5k? Apparently it takes 9 weeks. I have downloaded the NHS podcasts and now I just have to get going. Eeek!

Hi sofa meant to reply to you yesterday eve, bit was so knackered I completely forgot! I did w3r1 last night hance the exhaustion, but it helped knowing you were out there too or if not I could feel all smug!

Did the podiatrist say anything useful?

SofaKingOld · 04/12/2011 08:23

Babies shame you've not had a good week. Hopefully next week will be better for you. I really would recommend doing a timed run - it really moves up the gears a notch and is a great confidence boost!

We're doing another parkrun next week but doing it on my own as DS can't come. I can hold your hand virtually as you go round if you're doing one.

Quantitative well done on getting to week three. From memory week three was tough but good as you make some good progress. You could feel very smug as I was out at a meal and drinking far too much.

The podiatrist was great. He filmed me walking barefoot on the treadmill and then showed me afterwards. I kick my right foot out (which I already knew) and he suspects I've got one leg longer than the other but it's not measuring like that. He thinks my pelvis has rotated & shifted to accommodate the difference hence the hip pain. He's taken some casts of my feet to make some orthotics to go in my shoes. I get them in a couple of weeks.

We're off out for a run this morning once I've rehydrated myself

W3r2 last night and oh lordy can I feel it in my knees! Is this normal?

SofaKingOld · 09/12/2011 18:08

Yep! 'Fraid so Quantitative. You tend to adapt quite quickly from a cardiovascular point of view, but it takes the rest of your body a little while longer to get used to it.

How are you getting on Babies? Not seen you on here for a while. I'm struggling to fit 3 runs a week in at the minute with all the Christmas stuff going on.

Babieseverywhere · 09/12/2011 18:41

I'm around just in the grips of a sickness bug, so not running today, maybe tomorrow.

SofaKingOld · 10/12/2011 06:50

Oh no Sad

Hope you're feeling better soon.

Thought I'd update on my weekend runs.

Went out at 8 yesterday morning and nearly went head over heels! It was really icy & I've ran in ice before. Had to be quite careful until I got to the canal which although just as cold the path is more textured so I could get a grip.

Took DS out this morning (after much huffing and puffing from him) and we tried a new route up the other side of the valley. I walked a lot of the way up the hill, but DS did really well. We got a cracking view from the top. We ended up running 6.5k and probably walked about 1.5k from where we finished running to get home. It was a slow run but it felt good to get out.

We're going to do our second park run on Saturday & I'm hoping all this hill running walking fast is going to pay off!

Hope you've all had a good weekend and tummy bugs have gone.

SofaKingOld · 11/12/2011 15:00

That should say never ran on ice before Blush

SofaKingOld · 20/12/2011 20:21

How are you all getting on? It's been v quiet on here although I suspect everyone is getting ready for Christmas.

I've made the decision to start bridge to 10K so did my first run tonight. Legs a bit achey now but will see how I get on.

Have you managed to get to a parkrun yet Babies? I did another one on Saturday - a very friendly bunch.

Babieseverywhere · 21/12/2011 20:32

Sofa, Well done on another Park Run AND starting B210K :)

Don't believe you have been running on ice, I can barely walk on it

Not done much recently but intend to recommence running very soon and I will make it to our local Park Run at some point, but might have to wait until weather improves :)

SofaKingOld · 31/12/2011 16:06

What a difference a year makes! I never thought this time last year that I'd be going for a run on New Years EveSmile

My New Years resolution (s) is to do a 10k in April/May and a half Marathon in September with my little sis.

10K training going slowly as I intersperse it with shorter runs with DS. But that's OK as I've got plenty of time and I'll get there.

Wishing you all a Happy and Healthy 2012.

Babieseverywhere · 31/12/2011 21:23

Enjoy your run :)

Sounds like you have great plans for 2012. We'll be shouting you on.

I'm aiming to redo C25K and see how I feel then.

Happy New Year :)
