Whoops. Managed to fill it up again! Hope it's OK to start a new one. Let's keep going everyone - big zonetastic push up to the festive season!!

Knotty Hope you're feeling better. It really does take it out of you these tummy bugs. Horrible. dinky Happy birthday to your ds. You're doing all the right things, but it must be frustrating. I'm hoping the 1lb is water retention but fear it's chocolate retention Grin I also had a rubbish weekend food wise, DP bought me a slab of chocolate for Valentines day which we all demolished yesterday.

We've had an infestation of headlice.Nice! I thought I wouldn't have this with two boys!! So spent most of Sat afternoon with a nit comb in hand. Everyone excpet DP has them, he has very short hair but the two boys have that floppy/messy hair style. PITA Hope everyone has a good day. x

LadyBuzz · 13/02/2012 21:02

knotty hope you feel back to normal very soon.

Well i've had a kick up the butt to join the gym, I filled a form in in town ages and ages ago for a free day pass (and forgot) but they phoned me tonight to book my induction for sat (eek) so now i have to go and once i start paying DH will make me go Grin.

paxton it will have fallen off by next week!

Another 2 1/2 off for me. I never thought i'd say this but i'm almost enjoying this Hmm

knottyhair · 14/02/2012 08:17

Morning! Dinky, glad you got your power back! And good on you for sticking to your physio even though it's dull. Stick at it and it won't be long before you can do something more interesting, but I really do feel for you Sad. Paxton, hope your infestation has cleared! Horrible bloody things. I keep DS's hair quite short but his friend (who I look after before & after school) has longer hair and is one of those kids who's constantly scratching and it makes me paranoid! LadyBuzz, woohoo!! You're going great guns, and good luck at the gym.

Feeling much better today, actually managed a coffee this morning after 2 days of peppermint tea, and enjoyed my peanut buttocks on toast for breakfast. Might give Jillian a go tomorrow morning but I'll see how I feel. Having a very romantic Valentine's Day with DP laid up in bed with the dreaded bug, whilst DS & I get to listen to the intermittent noises coming from the toilet (TMI?? Grin). Might take DS to a Birds & Beasts Roadshow later with friends - apparently it involves a chance to handle a tarantula not on your bloody nelly. Hope everyone is enjoying half term xx

dinkystinkyexpectations · 14/02/2012 09:43

Lol at your peanut buttocks on toast Knotty - conjures up a most amusing image. Take it easy today - hope your DH feels better soon - and take care around that tarantula.

Weighed self today - have apparently put on 4lbs Hmm Suspect some of it is water retention but is a kick up the butt to stop feeling sorry for myself, focus on eating properly again and focus on my weight loss.

dinkystinkyexpectations · 14/02/2012 09:43

p,s, congrats on your loss Ladybuzz - and joining the gym. You are so in the zone.

dinkystinkyexpectations · 15/02/2012 13:54

Afternoon all - hope everyone is having a good half term and your DP has recovered Knotty (and you and DS are back to normal now too).

knottyhair · 15/02/2012 15:08

Hi everyone! Dinky, I bet most or all of that gain is water retention. I suspect any loss I had due to being ill has been regained in the stodge I've been craving since feeling a bit better. Am trying to eat better today - chicken, rice & veg for tea. No Jillianing still although I may attempt something tomorrow.

knottyhair · 18/02/2012 09:34

Hope everyone's off doing nice things, or at least staying lurgy free! I did manage a Ripped in 30 L1 on Thursday, but felt very weak afterwards which isn't normal for me. Walked to the cinema and back Thursday night (1 hour in total) to see Woman in Black (very scary!). No exercise yesterday apart from walking round the shops for 3 hours trying to find a dress. Had soup for lunch in Pret a Manger but then lost the will to live after a couple of hours of trying stuff on, so I stopped for a bun as well Blush. Ripped in 30 L2 this morning which felt fine so hopefully back to normal. Have a good weekend everyone x

dinkystinkyexpectations · 19/02/2012 10:39

Very quiet on here! Knotty - glad you're feeling better now - just listen to your body and it'll tell you what it feels up to. I suspect several hours of dress shopping would have driven me to a bun too. What kind of dress are you looking for and what's your budget? The style and beauty lot (esp tethersend) are pretty good at coming up with excellent online recommendations. LK Bennett is good for pricy special occasion dresses. I really love Matches for really special dresses - got my dress for sister's wedding from there which everyone loved...

knottyhair · 19/02/2012 15:57

Thanks for the tips Dinky! I did manage eventually to find one in the Monsoon sale - it's for a baptism. It's nice all this losing weight malarkey but bloody expensive when I have to keep buying new stuff!

Just got back from a 4 mile walk with DP & DS, which included a lovely roast in a pub en route followed by crumble & custard. Whoops Grin.

ThePaxton · 20/02/2012 10:09

Hi everyone. Not been on all week, we were at my mums and cousins for the week. Glad to you're better knotty. I really want to see Woman in Black, I've just started reading the book. Not in the zone at all, but have to get back on it this week. So soup for lunch and chicken and veg for dinner while the boys will have chicken pie. Hope everyone had a good half term, this morning was fun!!! x

BelleEnd · 21/02/2012 10:38

Hello everyone! Back after a week of eating everything, and working very very hard. Hope you all had a good half term. I need to keep the calories right down this week to make up for last week. It was really lovely to stuff my face- I made my own ice cream Shock- But my body didn't feel right with all that crap in it.
Saying that, I will be having a couple of pancakes tonight with some sort of veggie filling!

Made LOVELY soup yesterday, it was about 120 cals a portion. Boiled parnips with yellow lentils, with cumin, turmeric, fenugreek and salt. Blended well. It was so creamy! Shall have that for lunch.
I have a wedding to go to in a few weeks which is a good incentive to keep on track. I'm thinking of getting a new dress, too- Exciting as I never really go shopping for clothes, for me!

dinkystinkyexpectations · 21/02/2012 14:34

Soup sounds lovely Belle! Glad you had a good half term and impressed with your icecream making skills. The one time I tried to make icecream (a loooooooong time ago) it was an unmitigated disaster. Have fun clothes shopping!

Back in the zone today after a most unzone like day yesterday. Have lost a couple of pounds of the weight I put on but still have to focus to lose weight. Am seeing consultant tomorrow so should hopefully find out date for my op then...

knottyhair · 21/02/2012 16:19

Hi everyone! Belle and Paxton, glad you enjoyed your time away. Belle, we make all our ice cream since getting a machine last year, it's lovely isn't it?? And as Dinky says, the soup sounds nice. Dinky, hope it all goes OK tomorrow with the consultant.
Did a Ripped in 30 L3 yesterday and 4 circuits of BFBM this morning, but am about to make pancakes so probably just as well!

OP posts:
BelleEnd · 21/02/2012 20:02

Ooooh I made nice pancakes! Cooked some onion, mushroom and cabbage in ginger, lemongrass and soy sauce, then added king prawns, and used that as a filling for the pancakes. Also resisted the chocolate digestives in the house!

knottyhair · 22/02/2012 10:22

Belle, they sound lovely, and well done on resisting the biscuits! I was quite restrained and just had one with lemon & sugar (DP & DS bravely polished off the other 11 between them, the little soldiers Grin), and DP impressed with his tossing skills so to speak.
Did L2 Killer Buns this morning - good god. But I enjoyed it in a weird masochistic way. I'm making Jillian's mediterranean lamb burgers for tea with wholemeal baps & salad. Dinky, how did you get on with the consultant?

Have a good day everyone xx

OP posts:
BelleEnd · 22/02/2012 11:30

I am very impressed with eleven pancakes between two people, knotty! Well done for just having one.

Hope it went well for you dinky.

I have made more soup today- Red lentil and mung bean Hmm - Not sure if it'll work, I'll report back! Then I'll make a chorizo and veg stew for tonight, a favourite in our house. Just put it into MFP on recipes and it's low cal, too. Hurrah! :)
Starting to become an apple enthusiast. I have to have one, every day. I bulk buy them in trays. I am only 29. This is pathetic. :o

dinkystinkyexpectations · 22/02/2012 11:34

Well done on the pancake restraint Knotty and the choc digestive restraint Belle Grin I had 2 plain ones (nanny did them for boys with some vanilla extract in and they were left over) - they were very nice too.

Saw consultant - am going in for op on Monday. At least that will kickstart the whole process...

BelleEnd · 22/02/2012 11:36

Oh, I'm glad something's being done dinky. Don't worry about the op, you'll be fine. Vanilla extract in pancakes... Mmm...

knottyhair · 23/02/2012 13:44

Belle, DP only had 3 pancakes and DS had 8! I think he's having a growth spurt Grin. How was the lentil & bean soup? Sounds nice actually. Dinky, fingers will be crossed for you on Monday. Will you be able to come home the same day or do you have to stay in?
No Jillianing today - soup for lunch and pork steaks with potatoes & veg for tea. Hope everyone's OK x

OP posts:
BelleEnd · 23/02/2012 14:05

I am well impressed with your DS and his pancakes knotty! Mind you, my DS2 (2.5) could probably put that many away... He eats more than me!
The lentil and bean soup was gorgeous- I'm getting into soups now, especially with dried beans and legumes because they're easy!

dinkystinkyexpectations · 23/02/2012 14:20

Have to stay in overnight on Monday Knotty - will take iphone so can MN the next day Grin My folks are coming for a few days to keep an eye on the boys and so they dont go doolally waiting for news (they are both worriers) so know the kids and DH will eat well while I'm away.

I have 2 turnips to cook somehow. Any suggestions on how to make them lovely and health conscious meals?

knottyhair · 23/02/2012 15:06

Ooh Belle, post the recipe if you get a minute.
Dinky, I've got a couple of recipes, one I've tried and one I haven't. Glazed turnips with orange & honey - Peel turnips and cut into 2cm cubes, blanch in boiling water for 3 mins then drain. Wipe out the pan, and put the turnips back in, add some orange juice, a bit of butter, a bit of honey and a splash of water (all to taste I think - sorry, no exact amounts!). Put back on a moderate heat and stir until the butter has melted. Simmer, stirring frequently until the liquid has evaporated. This is very nice! I think we had it with fish? I also have roasted them with a little oil and salt and used like chips. Got to go and collect DS now but I'll post the other one later if you like, but I haven't tried that one.

OP posts:
dinkystinkyexpectations · 23/02/2012 15:16

That sounds super nice Knotty - will give a go tomorrow night! Would love the other one too (esp if anywhere near as nice sounding as that first one!)

knottyhair · 23/02/2012 16:56

Dinky, here's the other one in case. Spiced baby turnips - for 4 - peel, deseed & slice 400g tomatoes. Heat olive oil in a large frying pan and fry 3 small sliced onions for 5-6 mins until soft. Stir in 3 tsp ground coriander and 1 tsp sweet paprika, and cook for 1 minute. Add the tomatoes, 350g baby turnips (or chopped if they're big I guess), 1 tsp soft brown sugar and 2.5 fl oz hot water. Season well. Cook over a medium heat for 5 mins. Cover the pan, reduce the heat to low and cook for 5 mins or until the turnips are tender. Meanwhile, strip swiss chard leaves from the stalks and rinse. Add to the pan with a handful of chopped fresh parsley and cook covered for another 4 mins or so until the chard is wilted.
Let me know what it's like if you try it - I really want to give it a go! If you eat a lot of veg (and something tells me you probably do!), I really recommend the book this recipe comes from - Grower's Market by Leanne Kitchen. Great fruit recipes as well. Actually, the other recipe comes from The Vegetable Bible by Sophie Grigson which is also brilliant. Hope they're tasty whatever you do with them!
