Whoops. Managed to fill it up again! Hope it's OK to start a new one. Let's keep going everyone - big zonetastic push up to the festive season!!

Hi everyone.

Belle I've only every used what's in the MFP database for meals. I must try adding my own. But I always like to overestimate my calorie intake.
knotty Glad your're enjoying the Xbox, all the consoles are great fun.

It must be a weekend of biffing. When I drop out of the zone I fall hard Grin Have biffed most of weekend, cake, crisps, chocolate and I made cake and custard yesterday. Blush But AF came today so that explains it. The weather doesn't help either. Hope you're all enjoying the snow, if you have some. Have a good dayx

LadyBuzz · 06/02/2012 20:04

Hello ladies, hope everyone is well.
tdw congratulations on your baby boy news, boys are very lovely!

I don't seem to have a minute to keep up with anything at the minute. I am enjoying being back at work but getting used to 3 days, DH being on stupid shifts, DS2 starting school nursery and having SIL living with us is taking its toll Grin

I'm still getting on well with slimming world and have lost half a stone in 4 weeks (despite putting 1lb on this week - it was my birthday though so i'm allowed)

We have a wii and find it great fun, I got the Zumba programme for christmas and its so much fun, like you belle I MUST shut the curtains, I had an audience of small children Blush.

dinkystinky · 07/02/2012 11:11

Hello all. Lady - happy belated birthday. Belle - with MFP, you have to be realistic and honest about portion size I find - so while it may only be 200 cals for a small portion is that all you're eating (weigh and record)? Though am with ThePaxton, I overrecord if in doubt.

Bad biffing day yesterday - lots of chocolate to dull the pain from my knee. Saw physio on Friday who has banned me from all exercise until have seen a consultant and had an MRI scan today as he thinks there is cartiledge damage (as is getting worse rather than better) which has rather thrown me - so cant even do the tiny amount of non-cardio non-impact exercise i was doing before. Sigh. Still onwards and upwards (and no chocolate biffing today)...

LadyBuzz · 07/02/2012 12:47

ah dinky I hope it isn't anything too bad, Its best to rest though or it will be worse in the long run - although i'm sure that doesn't help when you are raring to get back into it!

I need to rejoin the gym and commit to going, I am desperately in need of toning up.

Question has anyone had a c-section on here, I have got a horrific overhang and need to find some way of at least reducing it, I can't wear anything remotely fitted because I have an unsightly bulge even in my tighest jeans!
So i'm stuck to longer floaty tops to hide it.

knottyhair · 07/02/2012 14:01

Afternoon! Congrats on the weight loss LadyBuzz and a belated happy birthday Smile! Dinky, that sounds very painful and you must be really frustrated. Belle, re: MFP, I'd just say to make sure you weigh everything accurately and sometimes I double check what MFP says with another site (occasionally I've found several listings on MFP with different calorie values). Pain in the arse but once you've done it once for an ingredient, you don't have to do it again.

No Jillian today for me as I volunteered to help clear the library at DS's school first thing this morning. Soup & half a sandwich for lunch, and I'm making a fish pie for tea, this one, which is really nice, and healthy too. I usually do half white fish and half smoked fish. Can't help with C-section overhang advice LadyBuzz, they managed to drag poor DS out in the operating theatre at the last minute with forceps!

OP posts:
BelleEnd · 07/02/2012 14:11

Thanks all for advice re. MFP. I bloody love that site! I know I'm recording the right portion sizes with regards to home cooked food because I usually cook something we can all eat for 2 days- So, for example, today we'll have chilli with baked potatoes, tomorrow chilli with rice. So I input the exact recipe into MFP, say it's 8 portions (though, tbh, DH gets a bigger portion than me or the DC.)

Paxton I know what you mean about biffing properly when you do it. :o I seem unable to have a slight biff. However, I've been reading about spike days, where you have one day a week of high cals, which apparently helps to kickstart your metabolism if your loss has slowed down. I am well aware that this sounds like utter and complete shite, and is an excuse for having chocolate and chips on a Saturday... But hey, in the interest of dietary experimentation... :o

Well done with the Slimming World weight loss LadyBuzz- Sounds great, and I'm well impressed that you can even think of it with you being so busy! SW has worked very well for a lot of my friends. I'm thinking of trying Zumba on the wii too now that I'm waaaay better than Michael Jackson

Sorry about your knee dinky- Hope you don't feel too down about it. I think with exercise that it helps your mental health as well as physical, so when you have to stop for whatever reason, it's very easy to turn to the chocolate. I felt crap when I had to give up swimming because it made my Meniere's disease flare up.

By the way, LadyBuzz, you don't need to have had a C-section to have that overhang. :( I have an apron, and I'm happy with every other bit of my body except my stomach. I have been reliably informed that exercise may help, but the only cure is surgery! Sod that. I also have massive long stretch marks over my stomach that will never ever go away, but I have grown to think of my manky gut as a tattoo to remind me of when my wonderful bod grew two children!

ThePaxton · 08/02/2012 10:47

Oh dinky Sorry about your knee. Such a shame as you really want to get going but as LadyBuzz says better to take longer to recover. Well done on weight loss LadyBuzz and I can't help with C-section either. But I have a slight over hang and awful stretch marks too Belle and thats a lovely way to think of them. I wonder what they'll look like when my six pack come out? (wishful thinking)Grin. knotty that pie looks lovely, but I can't get on with fish in a pie. I think because mum force fed me it along with cabbage cooked for about 2 hours. I love salmon though which she never cooked!!

Shock horror, I exercised yesterday and today!! Done nothing for 2 weeks and am sore today but felt great. Why can't I bottle the feeling I have after exercise and remember it when I don't feel like doing it. Hope everyone has a good dayx

knottyhair · 09/02/2012 12:10

Afternoon! Well done Paxton on getting back to the exercise. Dinky, how are you doing?
Did L1 Killer Buns again yesterday, and managed a quick L3 Shred before the school run this morning. Soup & ryvitas for lunch, and making a prawn pilau for tea later. Am trying to resist ordering Jillian's Kinect game.....

dinkystinkyexpectations · 09/02/2012 13:10

Hi Knotty - seeing consultant again today after MRI yesterday so will know later on what the damage is. All v frustrating...

BelleEnd · 09/02/2012 16:10

Oh, I hope it goes well with the consultant dinky- I'll be thinking of you.
As always, I'm very impressed with your exercise regime knotty and your Jillian devotion

Had a good week, but am going to have a bit of a more laid back week next week- It's half term and I am planning to work 12+ hours every weekday in order to meet a deadline. So I shall just eat what I fancy, and concentrate on work and nothing else. I forsee a whole lot of porridge...

By the way, I'm having a cup of Highlights hot choc. Don't buy it, for it is liquidized turd.

dinkystinkyexpectations · 09/02/2012 16:24

Hmm, have done quite a bit of damage to my knee and screwed up the cartilage as well as breaking a ligament - 4 weeks remedial physio then a knee op - and no running ever again for me.. Ho hum.

BelleEnd · 09/02/2012 17:14

Oh no! I'm so sorry Dinky- I hope you're okay. :(

knottyhair · 09/02/2012 19:29

Oh Dinky! I really feel for you my love, take care of yourself.
ROFL at your liquidized turd Belle! Have you tried heating up skimmed milk and melting a couple of squares of dark chocolate into it?

OP posts:
LadyBuzz · 09/02/2012 19:48

oh dinky so sorry to hear that. Sad

belle i agree about the highlights, the galaxy one is lush but sadly not in the slightest bit good for you Grin
The options belgian choc isn't too bad mind.

justaminute · 09/02/2012 22:18

Ouch Dinky I feel your pain. I too have done something to my knee, although I'm hoping it is on a lesser scale to you. I fell awkwardly on Monday, ankle went one way the knee went the other. I saw a physio today who thinks it is just a muscle strain but there may be some cartilege damage which cannot be determined until the swelling has gone down. No exercise sucks! I feel lethargic and bored which leads to comfort eating.

Also, the 10K was cancelled due to snow Sad I'm gutted I was mentally ready to do it. I then decided to train for a local half marathon (complete madness) which is in a couple of months but those plans have now been ruined by my knee injury.

Dinky come join me with copious Wine and Biscuit.

knottyhair · 10/02/2012 08:20

JAM, sorry you've got an injury as well Sad.

No Jillian for me today - been up with DS since 2.30am, he's been sick and the other end, poor little thing. He's now on the sofa watching Tom & Jerry with his bucket by his side. Just waiting to see if we catch it.... Hope not, as we've got friends coming to stay on Monday but I guess we'll have to see. Hope everyone else is OK xx

OP posts:
dinkystinkyexpectations · 10/02/2012 11:05

JAM - I am so sorry, cartilege damage is indeed the pits. But if it is just some tearing its quickly repaired. Get down to your GP, get a referral for a MRI (get physio to do a letter - will accelerate matters) and start getting it sorted. I really wish I'd gone to get a MRI quicker. And you WILL be able to get back to running again in no time at al.

Thanks for your kind wishes all - feeling rather down and blue about it all (especially as it also means plans for baby no 3 which we'd just agreed have to be shelved for another year or so) - but at least it isnt worse. And I'm looking on it as an opportunity to focus on my eating and make sure I'm eating healthy stuff and not stacking on weight. JAM - join me in just doing v boring cycling with no resistance and sit ups and upper body strength only.

dinkystinkyexpectations · 10/02/2012 12:17

On a brighter note, its DS2's 3rd birthday today - cant believe he's 3 already! He's having a lovely day with all his presents and cards. I want to be 3 again Grin

justaminute · 10/02/2012 14:07

Gutting news about dc3 dinky but YAY to dc2 being 3 today! Happy birthday dinky Dinky Grin

Physio told me no exercise until Sunday then I can start with hamstring stretches and light jogging next week. Any pain and I am to go back next week for further work and possible MRI. Fingers crossed the ultrasound treatment yesterday does the biz. She did say I must be very flexible to have hopefully suffered minimal damage. Me... flexible...ha ha ha! I have a stinking cold today which isn't helping the healthy eating intentions.

Knotty sorry to hear you have a poorly ds. Middle of the night wake ups are never good especially when they involve puke. [yuck]

I thought January was meant to be the depressing month? Hmm

LadyBuzz · 10/02/2012 14:27

Happy birthday dinkys DS.

*knotty hope DS is better soon and you haven't picked it up.

knottyhair · 10/02/2012 14:38

Thanks ladies. Nothing wrong with me or DP yet, and DS hasn't "produced" since 11 this morning. Yes, night time wake ups involving vom aren't great, particularly when he had helpfully tried to avoid his bedding, so had thrown up over his pile of books instead - bless him.
Happy Birthday to your DS Dinky! JAM, hope your cold gets better, you don't need that on top of everything else.

OP posts:
dinkystinkyexpectations · 10/02/2012 15:01

God Knotty - sorry for my me me me posts - hope DS is going to be ok soon and you're not too shattered.

ThePaxton · 10/02/2012 16:30

Oh dinky so sorry to hear about your injury Sad but hope your DS had a great birthday. JAM fingers crossed everythings okay with your knee and your cold is better. knotty hope your DS is feeling better.

STS today. I weighed myself on Tues and was 10.7 and today am 10.8 Hmm Having a rest day today. Hope everyone has an okay day x

knottyhair · 13/02/2012 07:25

Morning! Been very quiet on here! I got DS's bug on Sat night so have been completely out of action. Just starting to feel human again but no exercise for at least a couple of days - don't think I can manage it yet! Hope you're all OK - Dinky, I think what's going on with you is a bit more serious than a D&V bug, so don't even give it a second thought. When do you start your physio? Paxton, well done on STS. Hope you all have a good day xx

OP posts:
dinkystinkyexpectations · 13/02/2012 10:45

Glad you're feeling better Knotty - take it easy, lots of fluids, and only easy to digest foods (banana, toast etc) till you feel 100 percent. Thanks for your kind thoughts and Paxtons' too (Paxton - I'd lay money on that 1lb being water retention) - started the pre-op physio last week (am seeing physio twice a week) and doing v dull resistance free (mostly) cycling to keep up the muscle tone in my legs for the operation and religiously doing my physio exercises (which are v dull too). I REALLY miss exercising but know its best to stick to what I'm being told to do and not do by the physio.

Not great Weekend foodwise - was DS2's birthday party on Sunday so the grandparents were down for the weekend. Wine, nuts and chinese food on Saturday night and then DS2's party food (pizza, tandoori chicken, cake and brownie birthday cake plus prosecco) on Sunday lunchtime. We then had a 4 hour power cut (due to electrical fire down the road - all v exciting) so had cold custard for afternoon tea (trying to eat down the fridge) and some soup for dinner when the power was finally restored to the house...
