knotty Helloooo! It's quite weird being back, I feel like I know these old names so well :o I am rubbish at exercise, and I really do need to do it- I have a lot of excess skin, and I need to tone up. It's very hard though- I am at home with the children all day (youngest not yet school age) and then I do my work after they've gone to bed, so I don't get any "me" time to exercise... I do walk a lot with the little one but I don't think I'm burning anything as I have to be slow whilst he splashes in puddles/ puts mud on his hair/ eats sheep shit. :o

dinkystinky · 27/01/2012 09:35

Morning all and welcome back Belle - hope all good ith you and your boys.

Excess skin - exercise can help tone up to an extent but honestly, it wont get rid of all your excess skin (as far as I know only surgery can do that). Pre knee injury I exercised a lot but still had crepey excess skin on my belly as a result of 2 humungo bumps during pregnancy. But its good to do. Check out exercise dvds you can do at home (borrow from library to try them out) - your youngest DS can join you or be your coach Wink

Did well and stayed in zone yesterday - will aim to do the same today. hope those weighing in today get the results they want.

knottyhair · 27/01/2012 10:08

Morning! I agree with Dinky, Belle, I think your best option is try a DVD at home. Yes, yes, you know what I'm going to recommend! But honestly, if you have a go at the Shred, it will give you the best results in the shortest time (20 mins is all!). I'm sure there are others around that are as good, I just don't know what they are must try to take off Jillian goggles some time.

Went out for dinner last night - nice evening but the food wasn't up to much. Still it meant I left half of mine so every cloud! Did L1 Killer Buns this morning and am going to attempt to sort out my raised beds & coldframe before the forecast sleet arrives. Chicken & veg soup for lunch, chinese prawn & veg rice for tea later. Good luck to anyone weighing in x

BelleEnd · 27/01/2012 12:38

Still a shredhead then, knotty? :o I have a copy of that DVD. Must try it out again when I want to know what death feels like
I'm going to have a go on the wii- I bought the Michael Jackson Experience game and the few times I've tried, I've sweated quite a lot. Must close the curtains this time, though...
Having crackerbread and slim-a-soup for lunch, fruit mid-afternoon and calorific and delish staffordshire oatcakes with cheese for tea. Am also in love with go-ahead Raspberry biscuits.

justaminute · 27/01/2012 12:58

Ladies you are all doing so well. I'm still struggling. Only 1 pound off since the start of the year. However I have the exercise bug. 2 games of netball, 4 shreds and 11.5 miles of running last week. I have even signed up to do a 10K run next weekend My first ever race (ha ha) and I'm looking forward to it - what has happened to me?!

Belle - dust off the Shred and join us Jillian fanatics. So far this year I've notched up 20 shred sessions, onto Level 3 now then I'll measure again. The inches had better have shifted since the scales don't seem to be moving or there'll be tears.

dinkystinky · 27/01/2012 16:36

Keep the faith JAM - you WILL get to goal. So proud - and jealous - of all your exercise. Godo luck for the race.

Have just scoffed a whole load of crunchie biscuits (numbing the pain of paying my tax bill today!) and have 100 cals left for today - may walk half way home (or hobble) to get enough cals to have dinner tonight...

thedogwalker · 27/01/2012 19:34

Hi all, Dinky I do hope that DS1 is the apple of DS2's eyes aswell. My Dh is an only child, so he doesn't understand sibling love, that I keep going on about.
Welcome back Belle. I think we are all, always welcome on this thread. I go missing for weeks at a time, dependant on sickness or how tired I am and everyone is always really happy to have me back. I am so happy you reached and surpassed your goal, well done to you.
JAM good on you for signing up for that run, and the inches will most certainly have shifted, and wow how much fitter you must feel for all that exercise.
My cold has turned into an ear infection in both ears, now got anti biotics from Dr but only paracetamol for the pain, which doesn't even touch it, completely fed up, I can't wait to feel normal again.
Hope everyone is feeling better than me, and hope you all have a good weekend, take care xx

knottyhair · 28/01/2012 10:32

Definitely a Shredhead Belle Grin! JAM, wow, you're really going for it on the exercise front, good on you! Dinky, ah, I had a similar incident with a bag of funsize twix in the week. Hope you get better soon and can get back to your usual exercise routine. TDW, poor you, that sounds horrible. Hope you recover soon.
Did L3 Ripped in 30 this morning - she does these bloody duck walk things in it and I really struggle with them and feel like a little oompa loompa waddling along Grin. Good DVD though. Bean soup & half a sandwich for lunch, pasta with sprouts & chorizo for tea. Making some apple & blackberry crumble muffins later to use up the blackberries out of the freezer. Have a good weekend x

Hello! Did you all have nice weekends? Any snow?
I hear you all on the shred front, BUT I have found something more fun. What this, I hear you ask, more fun than being yelled at by a sweaty musclebound American lady? But yes! I had a go on the wii game, Michael Jackson: The Experience yesterday. I was exhausted, but that's good. I have the grace of a hippo, and zero sense of rhythm, but in my head I was one of Pan's people.
(note to self: close the curtains next time)

Had a lovely quiet weekend, and spent quite a lot of it cooking with the children. On saturday we made a curry and a crumble, and then on sunday morning we baked a loaf of bread. Went a few cals over both days, but I tend to be angelic on weekdays, and let it go a bit at the weekend.
Have a good weekk, everyone!

Hello all - no snow down in London Belle but v v cold. Quiet day on Saturday and yesterday we took DS1 and DS2 to go see the chinese new year parade (which they loved) and then spent 40 minutes standing around a v cold Trafalgar Square (which was PACKED) listening to boring speeches before seeing a chinese lion dance - which was cool. Then ambled over to Tottenham Ct Rd to have a yummy sizchuan lunch (lots of spices and chilli - delicious) and lots of gren tea to warm up.

Glad you enjoyed the wii Belle Grin

ThePaxton · 30/01/2012 11:42

Hi everyone. V cold here too. dinky weekend sounds lovely. Belle we have Just Dance 3 which has a sweat option, but I'm sweating when we just play the game. Wow jam it's making be tired just reading what you've done! TDW hope you're feeling better. Well done on maintaining *knotty.

Was at my mum's over the weekend and biffed. I always do when I stay there. Even if I tell her that I'm dieting she'll still buy loads of crap and I have no willpower esp as I wasn't really in 'the zone' last week. STS on friday and will have probably put some weight on, but back to it today. DP is now on board to lose weight for summer, which will make things easier. Soup for lunch and leftover chilli for dinner. And back to exercise today. Hope everyone has a good day x

dinkystinky · 31/01/2012 10:59

Morning all - 10 stone 8.6lbs today so small loss, but have AF and have been biffing so am counting even a small loss as a step in the right direction. Paxton - you have my sympathies: My mum is a feeder too and we're off up to see them this weekend. Will be scheduling in lots of walking to burn off some of the excess calories I'll be consuming!

knottyhair · 01/02/2012 14:05

Afternoon! Dinky, chinese new year sounds like a lot of fun, and well done on the loss. Paxton, STS is pretty good going after being at your mum's and it's good that your DP is on board as well.
Didn't do Jillian today as I had to nip into town 1st thing. Have had a very hungry day so far, think it's the cold weather. I'm trying to keep on track but did have a skinny latte and a bun in town - it was freeeezing! Soup for lunch when I got back whilst I watched DP have a bacon sandwich Envy. Beef stew with potatoes & broccoli for tea. DP is off today and we've been looking online at reviews for different games consoles - thinking of getting either a Wii or an X-Box 360 as a surprise "family" present for DS's birthday at the end of the month. We are complete Luddites when it comes to this sort of thing and have not got a clue. Does anyone have any useful tips/opinions??

OP posts:
dinkystinky · 01/02/2012 14:52

My mates have the Wii and love it knotty. We dont have anything like that - just my laptop, DH's ipad and DS1's leappad Grin - but are thinking about getting something like a wii when the boys are a few years older.

BelleEnd · 01/02/2012 16:51

Our wii is excellent knotty- I was always a bit Hmm about having a games console, and it's true that DS1 and I would play Mario games all day if allowed... But I'm actually quite impressed at how easy it is to get the whole family on their feet, playing together and having a laugh. The wii sport golf and bowling are favourites, and of course, Michael Jackson: The Experience (or "Michael Jackson: The Experiment" as DS1 calls it :o )

I know what you mean too about the cold making you hungry. I made some soup with leftover veg, and have had a couple of bowlfuls, complete with chilli flakes!

Well done on your loss dinky. Enjoy with your Mum!

ThePaxton well done on your STS- It's quite nice to be a bit spoiled food-wise by your parents! I'm going to see my father, stepmother and teeny-weenie baby brother this weekend- Lovely stepmum is a chocoholic and we tend to hide in a corner together with some galaxy, giggling and hiding it from everyone else. It's for the family, people... :o

I am being super good this week, storing up calories so that I can enjoy a biff at the weekend. Have inputted some recipes into MFP and am surprised how few calories there are in things like beef casserole and roast dinners.

On a different note- Why don't they make size 13 jeans?

ThePaxton · 02/02/2012 10:48

Hi everyone, Belle it is nice to be fed, and I can blame someone else when I put on weight Grin Am off to see Dad and his wife on Sat and she always has a chocolate cake. Completely agree about size 13, that's what I am, not for long though (fingers crossed).

knotty We have a Wii and a PS3. The Wii is much more for the family, you get Wii sports with it and the bowling game on it is a firm favourite. Also a must get is Mario Karts, great fun. DS2 got Just Dance 3, which is really good and gets you sweating. The PS3, which is a bit like the Xbox, is more grown up I'd say. DS1, who's 12, loves his and can go online with his mates, but DP and I don't really play it. We use it as our DVD player, and to play Angry Birds. Although Nintendo are bringing out a 'new' Wii for Christmas.

I made some lovely carrot and lentil soup on Monday and will make another batch today for lunch and tuna salad wraps for tea. We had a curry last night and want a 'light' day. Hope everyone has a good day.

knottyhair · 03/02/2012 06:33

Morning! Thanks for all the advice on games consoles - DP & I are going out this morning to have a look. DS has no idea and will be SO chuffed!
For reasons too mundane to go into, haven't managed to do any Jillian since Tuesday and won't be able to this morning either (may fit one in after lunch, hope so, I get very twitchy when I haven't done anything for a couple of days!). Food wise I haven't been too bad, but I do find it harder in the cold weather.

Sounds like everyone's doing well, Paxton, your soup sounds lovely. Hope you all have nice weekends away, and Belle, how lovely to have a baby brother!
Soup & ryvitas or half a sandwich for lunch, and Jillian's chicken satay with rice & veg for tea.

thedogwalker · 03/02/2012 12:12

Good morning all
Knotty I cannot imagine you looking like an oompa loompa at all with your slight frame. And I agree with the others, defo go for the Wii as you want it for family time. There are so many things for you all to do on it.
Belle How is the Michael dancing coming along, any chance of you posting a video Grin
Dinky well done on your loss and enjoy your weekend at your Mum's.
Paxton well done on STS, which isn't easy when being fed lots by the family.
I'm still suffering from an ear infection, but the sinusitis has gone and I'm no longer in pain, which is a major plus. Just can't wait to be normal now, as my ears are all swollen so I have that horrible swimming pool hearing, when you can hear yourself and nothing else Hmm. The downside of being preggers, no decent drugs to get rid of the lurgy.
Hope everyone has a good weekend, I've got a 2yo birthday party to go to with my DS, no doubt there will be lots of nibbles, which I of course will indulge in Grin. Take care all xx

BelleEnd · 03/02/2012 13:06

Why, of course TDW! I am dancing with my, um, extended family (yes, there are a lot of us!) Note how DH has dressed up as a scared girl and we're all really into orange...

knottyhair · 04/02/2012 07:10

TDW, you're very kind but I wouldn't call my frame "slight"! Glad you're not in pain any more, and enjoy the party. Belle, your family are great movers, are you the one in the orange jumpsuit??
Thanks for all the advice ladies, but we ended up going for an Xbox 360 but with Kinect, so we can do lots of the more active stuff like on a Wii. We've already had a go at the Kinect Sports game (nearly wet myself laughing trying to do the hurdles), and DS was SO chuffed and surprised when he got in from school. I loved the boxing! Back to Jillian this morning with 4 circuits of NMTZ. Too much Kinect action last night meant I didn't marinate my breasts Grin, and we ended up getting fish and chips (I did share a portion with DS in my defence), so we've got Jillian's chicken satay tonight. Have a lovely weekend xx

Whooooooooa. Biffcity this weekend... I'm talking chocolate fondue, and doritos and dip in front of the rugby this afternoon. Hope you're all having a nice time :)

thedogwalker · 05/02/2012 19:42

Belle I will join you in the biffing, as I baked a Maderia cake topped with lemon butter icing, yum yum. I enjoyed that with a cup of coffee watching the rugby Grin.

BelleEnd · 06/02/2012 11:27

Ugh, I'm paying for the biff today... Feel like crap, bad cold, tired even though I slept all night, generally under the weather. DS1 is off school today with bad asthma :( so we're having a day with Disney and a roaring fire.
I am a bit Hmm about MFP's recipe tool thingy, the one where you input the ingredients and then it calculates the calories per portion. Everything seems ridiculously low in cals! For example, I'm making a chicken stew today and apparently it has less than 200 cals per portion- But it has chicken, potatoes, carrots etc and is generally lovely (and perfect when you're feeling rubbish!) The same goes for all soup, all casseroles... Surely it can't really be that low in fat??? What do you lot think? Do home made things really have so fewer calories than ready made?

thedogwalker · 06/02/2012 11:44

Belle homemade is normally far lower in calories than ready made, as ready made use alot of hidden sugars etc to make it taste nice and to make it have a longer shelf life. So yes, stick to the homemade stuff, far tastier and better for you Smile
