We went on a little walk around our local lake and took the boys to the park, nice to get fresh air.

I made a roast chicken dinner and managed to not eat the skin...the left-over ice-cream however...whoops! There's my syns gone for the day then Sad

kid · 11/09/2011 17:34

Just about to tuck in to the home made chicken curry. If the smell is anything to go by, this will be a firm favourite of mine. Lots of faffing about but I reckon it was worth it. Not so sure about the lemon and coriander than I managed to burn slightly Blush
Oh well, we can pick the black bits out lol

ameRIAcansmooth · 11/09/2011 17:46

hope you are feeling better cheese.

we have been here It was quite MN-ey too! (children called - Clemmie, Benedict, Byron and Envy Silas which was my original name for DS1 but I didn't dare in a farming community!) All lovely names, but quite unusual for the majority of this area.

just having a sneaky glass of wine while I am still in denial that it's Monday tomorrow!

kid · 11/09/2011 18:21

Forgot to add earlier arghhh, my dc are monsters. I was so excited about my chicken curry, I forgot all about their awful behaviour.

They basically had a fight so I grounded them for 2 days. But it's backfired on me as ds was meant to be at his friends house tomorrow while I was at the gym. Oh well, back up plan to the rescue Grin

Ds also had a big argument with dh's dad who acts like a child too. Honestly, driving along with the 2 of them arguing was almost enough to make me park up and abandon the car!

Anyway, my curry was absolutely gorgeous but a little strange looking in colour Dh clearly enjoyed it as he practically licked the plate clean (so did I Grin)

Cheeseandbiscuits · 11/09/2011 20:40

I'm awful. Temp above 40, only comes down with paracetamol and brufen, nausea, vomiting, whole body stiffness. Can't get put of bed. Sometimes I hate dh being a dr. I could do with seeing one I think. But he is sure it's just flu Sad. I have to admit I agree with him but even so. SadSad
Dh aunt here tomorrow, so am praying she will take DD out for the day but god only knowsSad

LittlePushka · 11/09/2011 21:07

Oh Cheese, Sad - keep sipping water if you are chundering. You need to keep fluids up. And go to bed early (if you are not there already) in case Babybel gets you up at silly o'clock again. On the plus side you are bound to be the weeks biggest loser - even though weightloss through illness is technically cheating!

I went to Cambridge this weekend - never been there before and thought it was rather splendiferous. I have definitely earmarked it as a possible choice for DS1's first degree ...( you may recall he just started school this week,...but I very much like to plan ahead!Wink)

joking aside it really was wonderful and somehow other-worldly.

Bee, I think it is you with the cheese triangles on toast - how many triangles make up a healthy extra?

LilllyLovesLife · 11/09/2011 21:30

Hi! Can I join you? I joined Slimming World last Tuesday morning and could do with some slimming world friends! lol. I found group really hard. I have a 2 year old and 3 year old that I have to bring with me and it was so hard keeping them quiet and it was very obvious that other members in the group were "disapproving" of them being there. Most, if not all of the group were 50+ and with me being 24 I didn't really feel I fitted in. Also, I wen to it because it fitted in with the Nursery times once my 3 year old starts in 2 weeks, yet they are changing the times, meaning I won't usually be able to stay for the whole group.
Sorry, that turned into a bit of a rant Blush

BUT I like the diet and I am really, really hoping I have lost some weight this week. It's my DPs birthday next week and I know it's going to be hard to stick to it!

WhatsWrongWithYou · 11/09/2011 22:09

Hi Lilly! I'm a (relative) newbie as well. I'm sure an old hand will turn up with something helpful to say - I'm finding it useful and inspiring here.
I don't post much as I think I'm at the other end of child-rearing from most on this thread (my youngest is 10), but I've learned some useful stuff and it's keeping me focused, so I'm staying as long as they'll have me!

I've found the recipe section really useful, and the link to Slim Eats or Eat Slim I forget which Blush. I've found some really nice meals that all the family will eat, but which are much healthier than the hearty fare I'd got into the habit of serving.

It's by the by, but I took DD (13) shopping today, for some boots, and I kept catching sight of this chubby middle-aged person in the mirrors; gutted to realise 'twas me!

I'm determined not to enter my fifties overweight < vain >, so onwards and upwards!

LittlePushka · 11/09/2011 22:30

Hi Lilly! Sit down love, make yourself comfy! We have a day of doom on a wednesday which is when we message Cheese (usually!) with whatever stats you want to share (have a little look at wed gone).

My best tip is to buy two or three books like "100 extra easy days" of "50 free food recipes" or similar sort of thing and read them! You might want to stick to one of the 3 plans for a while until you feel like chopping and changing each day. I founf extra easy worked really well for me I rarely go to red or green.

Whatswrong thinks we are all young - but if I told her that the first single I ever bought was by the BCR then she would know how old I probably am Wink!

After 5 weeks I am beginning to see that I ought really to have a vague idea of the weeks menu because I sometimes get stuck in the same old same old - which is not fault of the SW diet and entirely my laziness in thinking about it. So This week I am trying to vary it.

Another tip Lilly is that you will have days where you fall off the waggon (or even throw yourself willingly of it!) and some weeks you will not do as well as others but.... and I hope the team will back me on this,... a loss os a loss and even if you are only losing a very small amount per week at least you are still in the right direction so just keep going. Your first half stone is a BRILLIANT feeling and I promise that your clothes will feel comfy after even just 7lb.

Hedgepig · 11/09/2011 22:38

evening, Littlepuska you should have popped in for a cup of coffee and a yummy rice cake I live very close to Cambridge.

Hi Lilly you are very welcome, sounds like it may be worth looking for a different group SW does make a big thing of it's friendly groups. I am a member of a local group but I only wander in to be weighed and scarper, my group was friendly but I found the who process deadly dull, it's much more fun here Grin

Cheese have a slug of night nurse and a good nights sleep. I'm coming down with something at the moment, I'm sure its just a cold but I have been in the biscuit barrel nom nom nom Grin I did a 13 mile cycle this morning which apparently burnt 547 Kcal so that will negate a couple of them.

Roast chicken for dinner here too, I made SW roast potatoes which weren't so bad, but not crispy like real ones.

Bee I love Rutland water, I want to bring the bikes up now we have a cycle carrier, I think DS1 should be able to make it and DS2 will just sleep in his seat.

Kid hopefully my left over chicken will be curry tomorrow , I just bought the SW curry book there look to be some delicious meals in there.

Hedgepig · 11/09/2011 22:44

my 1st record was Matchstalk Men by Brian and Michael so a similar era Littlepushka, if I didn't have a buggy to push I would need a zimmer frame Grin

LittlePushka · 11/09/2011 23:05

Hey hedgepig i considered my double buggy a cross between a mobile zimmer and a wheeled shopping bag! next time I visit I will bring a few spare satsumas and a handful of party rings and we can go mad reminiscing about Joy Division, Japan, Madness, OMD and St. Winifred's School Choir whilsy being punted about the river by topless young boys men old enough to be our sons Wink

The SW curry book is ACE!!

I have been a bit rubbish this weekend so I have the late night munchies. I would dearly like a bowl of Dirty K but am trying to resist.

WhatsWrongWithYou · 11/09/2011 23:06

Okay I stand corrected (first record was by Little Jimmy Osmond Blush).
Too much wine tonight again - I blame DH - he keeps buying and opening bottles as he's re overing from a leg operation and is scared he won't be able to sleep. Obviously, I have to join him Grin.

Hedgepig · 11/09/2011 23:08

omg Japan! I had such a crush on David Sylvian (I suspect the music would be crap if I listened to it now)

LittlePushka · 11/09/2011 23:10

Night Nurse is also ACE.

kid · 12/09/2011 00:26

Talking of first records, mine was when will I be famous by bros!

I should be asleep by now but I happened to switch on young, dumb and living off mum. It was filmed a couple of streets away but I had no idea until I saw it on tv.

Managed to plan tomorrows meals but I need to sort out the rest of the week. I also have to get 3 or 4 ingredients for tomorrows Mediterranean lamb bake. I'm actually using beef as that's what I had in the freezer Grin

grinningbee · 12/09/2011 07:11

Howdy do

Welcome to Lilly Smile

Hope you're feeling a bit better today Cheese.

Ah, first records. If you don't count the Abba records I grew up on, then my first album I bought was Adam and the Ants Prince Charming Grin. I love the 80's music.

Well. What a night. I was watching a film (Death Becomes Her) and two minutes from the end I heard dd moan. That was the start of "vomitathon" Sad And at some point ds joined in too. Dh and I finally got into bed after being puked on 4 times around 2am, but she woke another 3 times and I can't count how often ds was up. Both woke just after 6, so I am sitting here with two very clingy grumpy dc, and dh left an hour ago.

Food for the day. Not sure what is happening really, but maybe:

Weetabix and a nectarine
Cheese triangles on toast
SW fryup if I can get out to buy sausages - Jacket spud and beans if not!

OP posts:
grinningbee · 12/09/2011 07:14

Oh, and cheese triangles. You can have:

6 x 17.5g extra light laughing cow triangles or

3 x 14g dairylea original triangles

I only have two at lunchtime, so I syn them (1 syn each)

ameRIAcansmooth · 12/09/2011 07:52

Sad for all the poorliness. Not good. Hope it all goes away quickly.

Have just sent DS1 off to catch the college bus. It's been a struggle with not much urgency on his partHmm (we took him in the car last week, but as he gets free travel on a Monday he can jolly well go on the bus!) It leaves half an hour earlier than the bus he catches for school the rest of the week. Hope he gets there in time as there is a large cupboard in the back of the car and I don't fancy trying to move it yet.

My children are hideous. They acted up yesterday and the day before while we were out. Which is embarrassing as DH is not overly discreet when he is narkedBlush. And they make me want to cry. I feel the boys take after him actuallyWink. And they don't sleep.

oops, ranting. sorryBlush

watched a film last night called Mambo Italiano (or some such) which I thought was hysterical.

my first record was Paul McCartney's Frog ChorusBlush, followed swiftly by Kylie (not a great deal better)

ameRIAcansmooth · 12/09/2011 07:53

my challenge for the day is to find something to wear that fits. Really don't want to replace the deceased jeans in the same size, but may have to.

Sofabitch · 12/09/2011 08:08

Wow we were busy last night :) welcome Lilly. I'm new as well I only joined last Monday.

Well it's wet and miserable I think I just burned a. Thousand calories forcing my toddler to get dressed.

Today I'm having and apple a banana and a shape 0% for breakfast. I'm making free omelette for lunch and dinner I'm undecided and unplanned but I'm going to asda later and I will have hopefully planned my week and done a shopping list by then. Grin weigh in tonight. I'm hoping for a good loss.

Question if you have syns after midnight can you count them on the next day Grin went to the harvester last night for my brothers 18th I was really good all night even avoided the rocky horror and had fruit skewers etc. But caved to a wkd after a whole night on diet coke and that took my syns over the 15. But it was after 12 so if I count them towards today's syns do you think that would be ok? [needs halo emoticon]

LilllyLovesLife · 12/09/2011 08:56

KID - Where did you get the reciepe for the Mediteranian Lamb bake? Just looked online and couldn't see it on the SW website. Sounds perfect for tomorrow night and i'm off to morrisons this morning.

Does anybody know, if Morrisons eat smart sausages are free? They used to be when I did SW a few years ago but I haven't seen anything about it this time round and I can't find it online Confused

I am off to have poached eggs on toast with no butter for brekkie - I seem to be having this most days, and it's getting a bit boring! I had a bacon sandwich one day but found I used a few syns on butter and ketchup and I try to keep meals free so I have syns to use when I really need them. I have also had beans on toast but again it's a bit boring and I have been eating a lot of beans as a snack/part of lunch.

Think I just need to get the hang of being more adventurous with SW cooking! Grin

grinningbee · 12/09/2011 09:59

Lillly Just looked up the sausages for you:

eat smart cumberland 60% less fat, or thick pork sausages 60% less fat, 8 pack, 57g each - 1/2 syn each on red and ee, 4 on green

If it's a different sort, let me know and I'll have a look for you Smile

OP posts:
WhatsWrongWithYou · 12/09/2011 11:23

Lilly I'm like you with the eggs in the morning. I tend to have fried without fat or scrambled with bread or toast. Today I had my own version of bacon and egg McMuffin (do they still exist?) using a wholemeal muffin.
I do get bored with the eggs, but I can't go without protein in the mornings and this seems to be the only option, apart from beans, as you say.
My usual brekkies involve copious amounts of nuts, either in the form of a dollop of peanut butter on toast and jam, or chopped hazelnuts added to muesli.
Keeps me going all morning and fine for keeping weight stable but too much when you're trying to lose weight.

ledkr · 12/09/2011 11:40

I eat eggs too,i quite like them but will prob get bored,i cant imagine eating fruit or yogurt for breakfast,to me thats pudding.
I had scrambled today on one slice of tost-he- and smoked salmon nom nom.Was lovely.
Its a week today and ive lost a couple of pounds but thought id have lost more,im going to be more rigid this week and write stuff down instead of keeping a mental tally.
Was going to re start the shred but i have a tummy upset, probably be good for the diet tho.
