Summer holidays weight loss boot camp

Paperplane · 24/07/2011 20:25

I'm determined to lose weight over the summer holidays and not put it on! It'll be great if I could drop the kids off in September about a stone lighter.

I've decided to try a diet which is low in carbs at meal times and snack on fruit only. I'll do half an hr exercise every day. Either davina dvd or gym. My treats will be things like an ice lolly on days out.

Come, join in Smile

Starting weight 11st exactly

Thanks Shiny - I am a bit all or nothing so I need to stick to the healthy stuff as one biscuit = 10 for me Hmm

As for losing half a stone by friday...barring a gastro bug prob not. But you might do a couple more lbs if your halo stays put! I'm off to S&B now to suggest some clothes for you Wink

Morning all! My plan today is
B: yoghurt and seeds
L: Chicken and avocado salad (leftovers from yesterdays roast chicken)
D: Fresh tuna steak nicoise (but no boiled egg for me - yuk!)

I was a bit hungry last night as we ate early with the kids so I had a Shape toffee dessert - I bought them for DD but at about 100 cals quite a good sweet treat. Then I had a shower and washed my hair instead of sliding into the biscuit barrel - go me! Grin

I'm going to weigh in on Fridays I think...I mean i'll prob weigh every day for motivation for a while but Fridays i will record here.

prolificwillybreeder · 08/08/2011 10:15

Hello, could I join you? I would love to lose a stone by sept. Even half a stone would be great!
My excerise will be walking and hoping to go for a good hour a day pushing a heavy double buggy- must mean burning double the calories! Grin

I'm going to my first party post birth this weekend. I need a suck it all in support vest!
Hoping some low carbing, water drinking with fruit and veg will give me a kick start.

prolificwillybreeder · 08/08/2011 10:18
  • I realise a stone is a bit adventurous in 4 weeks. Half a stone I can probably manage. Sorry should of made that clearer but the DC were all over the place. Selfish children interupting my MN time!

Hello prolific (I love your name too Smile) Double buggy of course burns double calories though I would say make sure you take some snacks/drinks with you if you go on a long walk - when mine were little I overdid it a bit and felt like i was going to pass out after going up a big hill which resulted in an emergency choc bar and cola from the shop to get me home!

Yay for size 12 top shiny! Have you decided what to wear Fri night yet?

Today I think it will be:
B: yog, blueberries and seeds
L: picnic - rice cakes with cream cheese/cuc/toms etc
D: Chorizo and chickpea chilli with roast courgettes

have a good day all!

Hi all, thanks for lovely name comments
Well been bit of a bad eating day for me, this post birth thIng is quite crap now normality has kicked back in. Gone is the post natal high and DP's paternity leave. Smack in the face is the housework, toddler, newborn combination with a side order of CBeebies.

Decaf cappacunio thingy 62 cal

Half slice of ham, half tomato, salad leaves, half ryvita.

Corn pasta with some Italian tomato sauce.

Lots of sparkling water and a few raisins.

Will do better tomorrow.

Small cheer for everyone else, you are all doing so well.
Thought of how motivated you are Shiney which helped me turn down the beer this evening. Though tbh I need more than beer I need gin after the day I've had!

FauxFox · 10/08/2011 08:00

How old is your baby Prolific? The first three to six months is pretty much a zombie blur if i remember correctly (I had twins)...well done for turning down the beer, i'll admit to a glass of red wine last night but at least it wasn't a bottle!

Today food wise I am thinking:
B: Grapefruit
L: 3 x rice cakes with cream cheese and cucumber
D: Chilli Salmon with salad
(I'll need to add to this I think as I just plugged it into my calorie count app and it only comes to around 700cals and i'm aiming for 1200-1500 a day so not enough...)

Snack wise generally i am only snacking if actually hungry and over an hour from a planned meal and i just choose something I fancy that is around 100cals. Likewise i'm having a treat allowance each evening of around 100/150cals for a nice yog/dessert pot, small glass of wine or mini choc bar with my tea...i'm hoping this will help me stick at this for longer Grin

Sneaky weigh this morning showed 4lb off since Sunday morning...I know it's mostly water but still good to see! I'll do a 'proper' weigh in on Fri morning.

prolificwillybreeder · 10/08/2011 09:35

I need to get some scales! Mine have just died. I apparently weigh 0!
DS2 is 3 1/2 weeks old (should point out am not BF).

Today:
B: hot water and lemon, as far as I have got so far!
L: salad and ham I imagine
D: fish cakes and salad

Lots of fizzy water and hot water and lemon

FauxFox · 11/08/2011 07:47

Well I used up my extra calorie allowance with the healthy fruit based beverage known as wine Hmm Still at least I counted it in!

Today i'm going out for breakfast later so I might call that brunch so I can have something nice (prob will choose yog/fresh fruit/granola thing they do that is delish and a large cappuccino) . Then dinner will be pork steak but i'm not sure what with yet, some sort of salad or veg as i'm trying to avoid having many carbs in the evening.

Weigh in tomorrow so definitely no wine for me tonight!!

Good grief prolific i'm impressed you can even think about dieting with a DS under a month old! I won't say "Oh you shouldn't worry yet blah blah" cos if it will make you feel better to lose the weight sooner you should, but do be careful not to go too strict - you need energy for all the lack of sleep!!!

FauxFox · 12/08/2011 06:56

Weigh in....drumroll...I am now 11st 2 so 5lbs off since Sunday! I always lose alot the first week so I know it won't continue as fast but the idea of being under 11st at next friday's weigh in is very appealing!!
B: Yog, blueberries and seeds
L: Ham salad
D: not sure yet. Fri and Sat nights I am usually a bit more relaxed and then make up for it during the week so there will prob be wine Grin
Have a good Friday everyone!

FauxFox · 13/08/2011 07:52

Went a bit overboard with dinner last night but not catastrophic and I reckon one non-diet meal a week is probably ok!

Back to it today...
B - grapefruit
L - ham salad
D - pork chop with roasted veg

Hope I didn't kill the thread Sad

Hi all.
I agree Shiny, a nice slow thread is what I like these days.
Well done on the weight loss. I am still waiting for my nice new scales to arrive. I'm so impatient! I would say I have lost some weight, just looking in the mirror the tyre looks slightly smaller.
I need to exercise but stomach muscles still a little sore. 2 weeks until my 6 week check so I'll wait. Starting swimming in a couple of weeks so hopefully that will help.

Had a couple of nice compliments lately about my weight but then they previously saw me at full term pregnancy I'm bound to look smaller I don't have a 7lb baby out the front anymore! Grin

How's everyone else doing? Sorry the long rant. Bit lonely this end!
Mmm stirfry Shiny! Your meals always sound yummy!
FauxFox, one night off is more than acceptable IMO :) I thought you were meant to have one day off a week to boost your metabolism. This could be one big myth though!

I think your meals sound yummy too shiny

Well I got some very stressful news on Sat so basically spent the weekend eating not alot feeling sick with panic and drinking shedloads of wine Sad On the plus side I am now 10st13 and I think I have calmed down a bit

Am going to try and eat a bit more healthily today:
B: Grapefruit
L: ham salad
D: Stir fry

Have a good week everyone!

prolificwillybreeder · 15/08/2011 08:59

FF- hope you're ok. I'll repeat 'everything with be fine' with you.

Shiny, food that's easily assembled is what I need at the moment. Have 2 boys a year apart. Exhausted I tell you, exhausted!
Like to lose about a stone. I don't look huge but just need to trim down everywhere IYSWIM? Getting used to my slightly wider hips Grin
I'm looking for a pilates class- you think a Saturday morning class would be easy to find! Oh no!
Glad you are on track shiny :)

FauxFox · 15/08/2011 16:35

Thanks prolific I've sorted it all out now thank god! I used to go to a great Pilates class...i might have to see if I can find one again as I really enjoyed it and i'm sure it helped my tummy get flatter...off to google!

prolificwillybreeder · 15/08/2011 20:07

Forgive me weight loss ladies for I have sinned.

16g fat bag of popcorn
Doorstop size wedge of carrot cake......with icing!

In my defence, I'm having a day from the darkest depths of motherhood hell. The kind where bedtime could not come quick enough and wine beckons from first light, where one prays to the
holiness: C of Beebies to give you strength and deliver you from
tantrum.*

Hope everyone else had a good day. I'm having salad for dinner from the naughty step. I am giddy from how crapola my day has been.
