Summer holidays weight loss boot camp

Paperplane · 24/07/2011 20:25

I'm determined to lose weight over the summer holidays and not put it on! It'll be great if I could drop the kids off in September about a stone lighter.

I've decided to try a diet which is low in carbs at meal times and snack on fruit only. I'll do half an hr exercise every day. Either davina dvd or gym. My treats will be things like an ice lolly on days out.

Come, join in Smile

Starting weight 11st exactly

Are you losing 3lbs a week generally? Thats amazing.

I'm down 3lbs too.

Its the weekend and this is when I struggle. There are croissants for breakfasts and dh usually likes a fry up but I have had some fruit and a yoghurt. I must resist bad food.

I am converting lbs to kgs so I can make sense of it all...Well done you two!

I am slowly creeping down; 1.3lbs since Monday - I'll do a "final weigh" for the first week on Monday (that might help me get through the weekend).

There is a fresh ciabatta sitting on the bench - it is calling my name Grin

MumPotNoodle · 30/07/2011 12:31

Well done on the loses so far. Will possibly weigh myself of Monday but will definitely be measuring myself. Have just done 40 minutes Nell McAndrew Maximum Impact....I feel like a walking jelly! Grin

I love noodles - might have to try them. Are your noodles fresh or dried?

Arghh... DH and I have realised that we are massively overspending (well, realised may not be the right word - admitted might be better). Anyhow, time to pull the belt in (I know Wink)

God how I hate trying to save money and lose weight at the same time!!! Have you good ideas for cheap, delicious meals that my kids will eat too???? I just remember days of mince mince mince as a kid.

Paperplane · 31/07/2011 00:28

I usually have pasta or Indian food for cheaper meals.
You could also look at BBC Good Food and the MN recipe section.

Thanks Paperplane I'll take a look. Indian is a good idea, that usually goes down well.

Nearly a week gone and I'm feeling very motivated to keep going. I always feel so much better when I cut out the crap and eat better.

Off to France at the end of the week for a fortnight. Not sure how I'll go keeping this up, but I really want to keep going down, or at least stay the same. Hopefully all the swimming and general leaping about will help balance the odd bit of delicious French yum. Smile

MumPotNoodle · 01/08/2011 09:08

My knees still hurt from Saturday, I have had wine, I have had junk food.....I am crap at trying to lose weight Sad

twinkle183 · 01/08/2011 10:30

Good Morning ladies... was wondering if you would mind if I joined you... would love to loose some weight before September... sick of feeling like a frump Blush I weight myself yesterday and am at 67kg and would love to get to 60kgs... which is 16lbs old money I think? Confused

Am gonna get training biggest loser style by going twice a day... I think? We shall see if I have the time as I do have 3 kiddies and am currently at uni...

I am excited about getting my post pregnancy weight off... Grin Well done to all those that have lost so far.. Keep going!! xxx

ggirl · 01/08/2011 10:33

Am also on diet , started last wednesday and have lost 7lbs !!.
Have been doing 30min exercise a day and low carbing (dukan)
Obv it is all fluid.
Have another 2.5 stone to go.

twinkle183 · 01/08/2011 10:40

Thats fab ggirl whats this dukan diet??? I keep hearing about it... it might not be fluid, espcially as your exercising...

Brill your a 1/6 way through.... keep going!!! Grin

ggirl · 01/08/2011 10:46

Dukan is low fat and low carb.
You do so many days of pure protein (no veg) to kick start the diet.Web site tells you how many days to do the 'attack' phase

Then you do alternate days of pure protein/ protein and veg until you reach goal.
Then you go onto gradually introduce carbs.
Also you are supposed to have oatbran everyday .

handbagsandshoes · 01/08/2011 20:36

Hi ggirl and twinkle! Nice to have you Smile

I don't know how you ladies lose so fast???!!! I managed 600g last week. I was hoping for a round 1kg but there you go. New week today. Maybe I need to watch my portion sizes? I didn't think they were that big tbh.

Still, 4.4kgs to go till I get to my goal.

I have been very slack on the exercise front so am going to try to do a bit more this week. Cleaning just isn't cutting it. Perhaps we'll try walking around the block with the pushchair and kids on bikes/scooters.... And, toning; sit ups here we come....

I've decided that I am going to focus on peaches and yummy fruit in France and try not to think about the bread and pastries Wink

mumpotnoodle new week!!! And it looks like it will be a sunny one Smile

paperplane and shineon how are you two?

must not eat crisps, must not drink wine, must follow Shiney's shining example.

handbagsandshoes · 02/08/2011 18:54

Well I certainly did more exercise than I bargained for today. After DC3 "lost" the car keys I had to rapidly cycle DC1 to his activity this morning, then come home, then after finally finding the keys (in a bag, in a box, in the cupboard under the stairs Angry) I dropped the car to be serviced and walked home then rapidly cycled back to collect DC1 then home again, then walked to the park this afternoon, walked back over to the garage late this afternoon and finally, in a complete wobbly-legged heap drove the car home....

Might have just eaten a little much dinner to compensate. oh dear.

Well done shineon that must feel good!

I'm off on holiday tomorrow but my scales say I am 1kg down since last Monday - 2.2lbs in old money. I am feeling better - only 4kgs (8.8lbs) till I get to my probably too ambitious target. I had just under a stone to shift. At this slow pace, probably just as well it wasn't a whole stone!

Toning. That's what I have to work at really. I did a bunch of sit ups this morning. Might try some vigorous dancing involving some lunging moves in the kitchen later Smile

Don't all disappear while I am gone! Two weeks, cross your fingers I don't go and undo it all.
