GilbonzoTheSecretPsychoDuck · 11/08/2011 07:55

I've no idea how it's coming off but I'm wearing a pair of trousers that I nearly threw away a month ago thinking they were so far away from fitting that it wasn't worth them taking up drawer space.

I think it's a combination of no snacking and being out and active with the kids all day. I'm really not looking forward to September when they go back to school and I have to remember where I left my will power Grin

WannaBeMarryPoppins · 11/08/2011 09:03

Oh Gilbonzo, that is an amazing weight loss! How do you do it? Envy It must feel good to fit back into those trousers! Stay on here, I find it very motivational.

I am back from London and it was a stressful trip. I did a lot of walking but I went out to restaurants etc and had some sweet stuff for the train journeys so I put on 0.5 kilos. I had my official weigh in day today and so I am starting afresh today. I am trying to remind myself that even with putting that back on I have lost 1.7 kilos, but I am having a bit of a wobble.

RGPargy, I am from Germany, but have been living in Scotland for three years now.

I will try and catch up with everything else later today. Waiting to hear back from that interview and could really do with some comfort food to tie me over...

Wifezilla · 11/08/2011 15:59

WannaBeMarryPoppins I'd never had known English wasn't your first language either. I think a 0.5kg weight gain for a few stressful days away is pretty good and it will come off quickly. I hope you've been able to avoid the comfort food today, although I know that's easier said than done.

Gilbonzo well done on your weight loss! There will be nothing left of you come September :o

RGPargy I'm glad to hear Body Pump has worked, I think I'll attempt to do 2 sessions a week. I don't actually go to the gym any more but have bought the weights and a dvd and do it at home (I really missed it and I couldn't find a gym nearby with creche facilities after we moved)

Forever I'm an accountant too! But I don't have excel at home so don't have any fancy spreadsheets Envy Did you really lose 15lb in month 1? Wow! Really interesting results though. Must be good to be able to see just how far you've come.

I saw you recommend the "Clean and Lean diet" somewhere Forever and have purchased the book. It looks great, very interesting and makes a lot of sense. I plan to follow the 14 day diet next week. And read Paul McKenna :)

We're off to the inlaws tonight for the weekend so won't be able to log into MFP...hopefully not too much damage will be done! Happy Weekend in advance to you all :)

GilbonzoTheSecretPsychoDuck · 11/08/2011 16:33

Thank you Smile. I really think it's purelya result of no snacking at all. Not even 'healthy' snacks. I've been eating my fill at mealtimes and then keeping busy until the next mealtime.

RG I'm so impressed with your body pumping - you so totally deserve all the weight loss Smile

WannBe I'm gobsmacked that you're not English. I just hope that one day my French will be as good as your English but I can't see that ever happening

Wifezilla believe me, there's plenty of me to go before I disappear! Have a good weekend with your inlaws and happy weekend to everyone.

foreverondiet · 11/08/2011 17:00

Sort of (re: 15lbs) because I started on 6th October but it only occured to me a week later to take body measurements as well. So month 1 ended up being 6 weeks not 5. I then took body measurements at the middle of each calendar month. I lost 3.5, 3.5, and then consistently 2 lbs a week for 5 more weeks.

Amazing weight loss and exercise ladies. I have just bought the 17 day diet on amazon. It was on Dr Phil Blush yesterday. It is 4 cycles of 17days with food and exercise and because it changes each cycle you avoid stalls (well thats the theory) I'll let you know what its like when it gets here. I thought maybe I need to mix it up a bit to lose my last 2st. I love IPD and am still losing and feeling good but I'm impatient to lose the last bit and then get onto some good maintainence.

foreverondiet · 11/08/2011 23:11

febes its a good idea to change things around, esp when you have quite a lot to lose (my diet evolved over time) - I flipped through the 17 day diet the book in waterstones one lunchtime and thought it looked quite sensible. 17 day diet looked good for maintenance.

foxinsocks · 13/08/2011 07:58

Hello :). Is it ok if I join? I was on one of these threads many moons ago and lost quite a bit of weight but I've recently had an op so stopped all the sensible eating and exercise out of pity for myself so need to lose 3kg to get back to where I was before!

Love the calorie counting on there - has really opened my eyes! Diet and exercise start today argh!

foxinsocks · 13/08/2011 16:54

Omg I decided to have a big slice of ds's birthday cake. It says it was almost 800 calories lol! Bloody hell!

ezzie21 · 13/08/2011 18:12

tinker316 · 13/08/2011 18:43

I'm going 2 be very naughty.. Having a Indian curry tonight Wink
Well, I has been very good over the past few weeks & I like to allow a treat Smile
Going gym tomorrow, so will make sure I burn it off!!

mrspnut · 13/08/2011 18:47

Evening, I need to walk about 500 miles to burn off the amount of wine I want to drink tonight.

I had 5 hours sleep last night thanks to my teenage daughter and I am ready to flop.

Dinner tonight is a chicken breast cooked in peri peri marinade with salad leaves and maybe a pitta bread.

RGPargy · 15/08/2011 19:32

Hi everyone! Happy Monday!! :o I really love not working on a Monday lol. I must be one of a very few people who never get that dreaded Sunday night/Monday morning feeling! I do however get a Wednesday night/Thursday morning feeling instead Hmm

Welcome Fox! Hope you enjoyed the birthday cake! Envy

No loss this week (TOM) so am hoping to be good and have a loss for my Thursday weigh in this week.

No news this week, with the exception of having a doc's appointment tomorrow morning about my knee. I have private medical insurance via work so hopefully i'll be able to get it x-rayed or whatever they will do, so that they can find out what exactly is giving my knee all this jip!! It's really p*ssing me off now and i'm fed up with hobbling around after i've been sitting still for a while, ggrrr!! Wish me luck!!

VivaLeBeaver · 15/08/2011 19:49

I'm back. Daren't get on the scales after a weeks holiday. Heve done zumba wii this morning and am well under my calorie count for the day. Am out to a theme park with friends tomorrow and we,re stoping for chips on the way home so think I'll be over my calories tomorrow.

RGPargy · 15/08/2011 22:15

Welcome back Viva! Enjoy the theme park tomorrow. I think the best part of the day for me would be the chips on the way home! Blush I used to love all the theme park stuff when i was younger but now i dont think i could handle it. I'd be too worried about how safe it was! What a kiljoy i am now lol. Blush :o

VivaLeBeaver · 15/08/2011 22:42

You won't catch me on any of the rides! They make me feel sick.

WannaBeMarryPoppins · 16/08/2011 19:39

I have completely fallen off the wagon, and need help to get back on.
I had a stressful time after London, turns out I got the job, which is really really great for me as it involves me training for the career I want to do right now, and will pay for me to do two qualifications, instead of me having to pay for them. But that will probably mean a few years of Long Distance with my DP due to various reasons, unless we figure something out, so I did a lot of research, spent a lot of time being upset etc and kinda lost track of my diet.

And then next week I am going to see my family in Germany for two weeks and will be living with them, which means I won't have full control over my diet, so it kinda feels useless to start up again now. BUt I felt I had a lot more energy when actually eating healthy and not some crap food all day, and I can tell I am not getting enough vitamins and stuff right now (not surprising when Nutella on toast is one of my main foods right now, but it's so yummy and quick to prepare!)

So I would appreciate some help getting back on Blush
Maybe confession on here is the first step?

foreverondiet · 16/08/2011 20:57

wannabe

yes confession a first step. get back on tomorrow! toast and nutella is not balanced eating. there will always be slip ups and thats ok..

re: relations, I guess it depends how close you are to them. I dieted when visiting my parents abroad. I ate low fat natural yoghurt and muesli for breakfast, tuna salad (or similar) for lunch and avoided the carbs in my evening meal.

otherwise just be as careful as possible, and start again after the trip.

foreverondiet · 16/08/2011 23:10

I just responded on another thread to someone who is eating 1200 calories and GAINING weight....

Its not just about the number of calories - if you reach a plateau consider the following:

a) are the diet drinks (ie caffiene/aspartame) messing up your metabolism and stopping you from losing
b) are you eating 3 meals a day plus snacks ( ie are you in starvation mode perhaps as you don't eat all day but eat all 1200 calories after 4pm?)
c) are you eating empty calories that your body struggles to process (refined carbs)
d) are you eating protein AT EVERY MEAL
e) are you eating 5+ portions of fruit and veg and day (2-3 fruit, 4-6 veg)
f) are you getting enough fibre and EFAs.
g) Can you cut the treats to get over the plateau?

OP posts:
WannaBeMarryPoppins · 17/08/2011 00:42

Forever, thank you, your advise is very useful like always.

I know Nutella and toast is not even a diet, but lately I had an incredible craving for sweet stuff the whole time and needed quick food, so I just kept eating it. I have tried to be a bit better today and am easing back into it now.

I am very close to my family and they all put on weight easily, so we talk about these things very openly. My mum, sister and I are going to the seaside for a while and will be living in a trailer though, so food will consist of take aways as well as loads and loads of carbs and stuff that is easy to prepare. But we don't have a lot of stuff planned, so maybe I can take some music and at least take an hour long walk or something every day to get moving?

GilbonzoTheSecretPsychoDuck · 17/08/2011 07:53

I had a great night last night. We went to a friend's for a BBQ. I drank far too much vodka but only had a half a burger bun and some chicken kebabs so it wasn't too bad. And I think it was offset by us riding our bikes there and back - interesting ride back after the vodka Grin

foreverondiet · 17/08/2011 08:22

wannabe craving for sweet food is sugar/carb addiction and to get properly back on wagon need to really cut down. Since I have been doing low carb (ie only really eating wholegrain carbs) my sugar addiction is under control and I am drawn to healthy food and not chocolate bars.

Yes can see hard on a trailer, but you can eat apples, yoghurts and pass on some of the take-aways. Sometimes there are healthy takeaway options like tuna salad. And keep portion sizes under control. I'd probably have healthy cereal for breakfast (with UHT milk if necessary), tin tun and yoghurt for lunch, couple of pieces of fruit as snacks and the healthiest takeaway I could find for dinner. Otherwise start again when you get back.

Luckily for me (?) I have IBS and developed an anal fissure (when I was not eating enough fruit and veg), now I must have 5+ portions of fruit and veg a day or I would get constipated and the AF would come back. I had constant pain with the AF for around 18 months and so I will never take risks with my diet again to risk that reoccuring. The AF could come back with even one incident of constipation Sad, so even if I "fall off the wagon" I can't eat takeaway type food for more that one meal in a row.

Ladies, may I join you - I'm on MFP with the same user name as here.

Fast approaching 43 years old with 10Kgs that I dont want to still be carrying around at the end of 2011 (and will need to review the situation at that point). I've tried almost every diet gimmick in the world over the last 20 years from grapefruits to atkins to hypnoband and havent yet fully learned that I need to eat less and move more always.

Someone once said to me that "little pickers wear bigger knickers" and tis true. I've been a size 12/14/16 at various points over the last few years due to being a little picker during the day and a plate-piler at mealtimes. Added to the mix is a gluten intolerance that has made me closely examine everything I've eaten for the last 3 months - and will need to be part of my life going forward.

Have been couch to 5K-ing for the last 10 weeks and feel a bit better about myself - not so much weight loss but I can see a change in how my clothes fit and dont crush my intestines when I bend over

Looking forward to some good advice and guidance from you all . . .

WannaBeMarryPoppins · 18/08/2011 00:45

Oh forever, I hope you are feeling ok!

I am trying to cut back down on the sweet stuff. It really does feel what I imagine a food addiction to feel like, a proper physical craving, not just emotional like at other times when I need chocolate. I have done a healthy food shop today, with some rye bread, lean chicken breast and bacon, salad and fruit and veg. hopefully that will help.

Not sure how the holiday will work out as we obviously will share food, but I hope they will be supportive and I will be strong. Problem is often that I only get to go home once or twice a year and then like t eat all the food I can't get here in the Uk all year around. But I will try hard and move a lot.
I have also just ordered 'Adore yourself Slim', after I saw you recommending it. I could do with extra motivation, maybe the book will help me. It looks very good.

Hello to Fairy. Has you gluten intolerance only just been diagnosed? (Sorry if I am too nosey)
I like the saying about pickers, so true. I feel like I could eat constantly. Well done on getting started with sports! HOw are you finding the couch to 5K?
