Hi all!

Hope the title is ok - if not, someone else can do another one Grin

I prefer baked beans to spaghetti hoops too. I don't even like spaghetti either or tomatoes of any form.

I was reviewing my food that I eat and I realised that I a quite close to being a vegetarian which suprised me really. The only meat I eat regularly is tuna. I occassionally have chicken or sometimes beef mince but its quite rare. I don't think my diet is very healthy at the moment, I really need to increase the variety of food I am eating. I am practically living on rice, couscous, pasta and vegetables!

As much as I hate being ill, I can't help but think it will give my weightloss a much needed boost. I promise not to starve myself, I couldn't anyway as I love my food! It is a worry though as I suffer from low blood pressure so I have to eat regularly or I risk passing out. I'm guessing its not going to be much fun tomorrow.

BonzoDooDah · 30/06/2011 21:42

Ah you beat me to it johnworf ... Can I join too? ... hedgepig will then have two gold stars in a week for her recruitment drive!

I joined SW 7 weeks ago, had a fairly low loss in my first week but got my 1 stone award this week with a 3lb loss. V pleased.

I'm doing the EE plan and finding it really easy to stick to. Can I ask how people find the other plans and why you change from one to another? Does it work?

I had sausage and mash and corn on the cob tonight with sainsburys low fat cumberland (only 1/2 syn each!) and they were yummy.

johnworf · 30/06/2011 21:46

bonzo hola!

I've had quorn sausages for tea tonight. I do believe they are free (I'm on a green day). My meat intake has also slowed down since I started.

I haven't done EE only red and green days so far.

Cheeseandbiscuits · 30/06/2011 22:26

Waves at bonzo from my bed

hedge you get a mouldy fruit basket next week for recruiting new people!

Low fat sausages, hadn't thought of that. Sounds delish.

grinningbee · 30/06/2011 23:12

Evening!

I can second the low fat sausages from Sainsbury's. They are very nice - quite peppery too. We have them with bacon, eggs, tomatoes and a few oven chips for tea every now and again. And at only 1/2 a syn each you can eat lots Grin

It has taken the best part of 2 hours to get ds to sleep tonight. He's just gone down finally. Dh is snoring next to me on the sofa Envy

I have decided that I am either having a mid life crisis, or the weightloss is making me think I need a makeover. I have the urge to change my hair, my clothes and start wearing something to stop my face looking so grey and tired.

Think I may have to start a new thread for that, but all ideas welcome! (I am a hair colour virgin, and I don't wear makeup - wouldn't know where to start with any of it!)

I got dh to take a pic of me tonight to see if I can notice any change in shape, and my face looks so grey and tired it was a shock Sad

Good morrow!

Been up half the night with my pooey daughter, bless her! Never mind, its another sunny day in Lan-dan town!

Exercise: Walk for an hour
B: Fruit, branflakes and melon
L: Jacket Pot and Baked beans (not spaghetti hoops!!)
D: Sweet chilli pork (2.5 syns)

bee have a ask around style and beauty. What sort of shape is your body/ skin tone/hair colour etc....

SlinkyB · 01/07/2011 08:49

Morning All

Hi Bonzo - I'm trying to alternate red/green days as seem to remember SW saying it was the best way to lose (although haven't been to a class for five years). I'm not familiar with EE but think I read on here that you have to drop 1 HE and 1 HB? I love my milk/cheese/bread (or pots/pasta/rice on red day) so think I'd struggle to do that.

Grinning have you considered treating yourself to a facial and eye-brow shape? Might be a gentle way to a small change and all natural if you're not used to make-up/hair-dye? (not to mention a fab way to pamper and have "me time"!).

Must. Do. More. Exercise.

Summerbird73 · 01/07/2011 09:23

johnworf welcome Smile and thrilled that I have given you inspiration already (for the record I love baked beans too ? I just love all food!!) and the omelette is nice with baked beans or salad or whatever.

cheese what did you think of the apprentice?

kid I am similar to you ? although I love meat I hardly ever eat it, I always found the green days perfectly fit in with my eating, as you can still have a little bit of meat as a HE

bonzo welcome to you too Smile the reason why I like the green day is because you can have two A and two B choices, I am a cheese and latte freak so that works for me. I don?t always have two B choices but it gives me the flexibility for a slice of bread as I tend to have porridge for brekkie. But I can see how the EE plan can be really good too if you like your meat.

slinkyb I am with you on the A and B choices ? you will find if you go back to a class that they really push the EE plan. All the books and magazines are geared towards that which I find a bit annoying as they should give you a wider choice.

grinningbee why don?t you take yourself off to clinique or estee lauder in House of Fraser (or any dept store). They are always willing to do a free consultation (although tell them that you don?t wear make up and don?t want to be over done!) Again a department store is good for clothes shopping as you can just immerse yourself in all the clothing depts (if you are flush you could get a personal shopper Grin )

Just had my porridge and green tea - feel pleasantly full now Smile

Muser · 01/07/2011 09:49

I'd agree with the "take yourself for a makeover" advice bee. A Bobbi Brown counter would be a good one if you don't usually wear make up, they do lovely natural shades and the people behind the counter are lovely. Avoid Benefit like the very plague, they will try to put all their make up on you at once. Then you will have to go to the Bobbi Brown counter and beg them to fix it. True story. Grin

Hedgepig · 01/07/2011 09:54

Morning, day at home with DS2 today We ate currently playing play dough.

Didn't do very well yesterday 2 very small cakes at work, it was 2 friends birthdays it would have been rude not to plus wine in the evening.

Bee I have highlights I love them but it is expensive, I don't do make up at all but also think I probably need to think about it.

Hi Bonzo and JW, thanks for the fruit Cheese

Summerbird73 · 01/07/2011 09:59

YY to Bobbi Brown (i nearly typed Boobi there Blush )

Or 'Mac' - they are highly recommended too

Cheeseandbiscuits · 01/07/2011 10:21

Agree about a free makeover, bobby brown is ace - my entire make up bag is from them!

Apprentice was good, shame Zoe went, I thought melody should have gone!

I always do extra easy - tend to have skimmed milk as HEA and branflakes as HEB.

Hedgepig · 01/07/2011 10:40

I know its been posted before but what is the sweet chilli chicken recipe? I promise to write it down this time Grin

Food today EE
B 2x teeny toast and jam (1 syn for the jam) and melon pear and low fat yog
L mushroom omlete with what ever veg I can find
D sweet chilli chicken if someone posts the recipe

Cheeseandbiscuits · 01/07/2011 11:00

12 chicken thighs (just increase to suit)

Sauce made from 4 fl oz soy sauce
2 tbsp sweet chilli sauce
2 tbsp harissa powder (or paste)
4 cloves of garlic, crushed
Salt and pepper

Bung all the sauce ingredients together in a bowl. Lob chicken in and stir it to coat everything. Heat oven to 200 degrees. Put chicken in a single layer on a baking tray and cook for 25-30 minutes until done.

Hedgepig · 01/07/2011 11:34

Ta cheese

grinningbee · 01/07/2011 12:11

Yoohoo! Will catch up in a mo, but thought I'd start us a recipe thread if anyone is interested? Just so they don't get lost in the posts.

Recipe thread linky

Afternoon all, slipped totally off track the last couple of weeks so haven't been posting Blush, however I hope to be back in the game on Monday! I have probably put back on the 5lb pound I lost !

Summerbird73 · 01/07/2011 12:42

we are having musers spinach risotto tonight with added mushroom and asparagus tips Smile will add it to the 'fred

kid · 01/07/2011 14:43

Afternoon everyone,
I've finished work for the day, shame I have to go in tomorrow Sad

I have no appetite at all which is really strange as I always eat, even when I am ill. I've had a sandwich and some fruit since yesterday lunchtime. I'm not even hungry either but will eat somethine at meal times just to keep energy levels up.

That recipe thread is a great idea, I'll be sure to read it to get some inspiration for my own meals.

LakeFlyPie · 01/07/2011 15:49

Afternoon Smile
Good to see some new faces (and some of the old establishment too!), don't feel like the newest recruit anymore.
A few of the regular names from the previous thread seem to have dropped off the radar.
Does anyone know if they are resting or have they retired?

Think I'm still riding on 1st week enthusiasm, almost verging on evangelical I'd say, hope it lasts Grin

The huge amount of berries in the fridge is helping and also remembering about eggs being free, have just had a late omelette lunch chock full of red onion, tomato, cheese (HEA) and basil leaves.

Am really feeling more energetic last few days and think it must be due to the healthier eating, which in the face of the sleep deprivation courtesy of DS2 is very welcome.
I'm quite surprised (and delighted) that I haven't had serious sugar cravings particularly considering the amount of biscuity / chocolatey stuff I've been troughing the last few months.

Thanks for recipe thread, will try and contribute some delectable thoughts soon.

bee - know what you mean about the tired grey look and I'm too skint for major style / beauty investments ATM.
My few grey hairs have multiplied in the last month or so and some Lush henna (dark brown one) has given some welcome (though temporary) colour back and pleasingly a fab glossy sheen.
I'm pretty incompetent in the make up department but find a lick of tinted moisturiser, dab of blusher and bit of mascara makes a big difference.
Also eyebrow shaping makes a big difference, i get mine threaded when I get the chance.
The other thing which has really helped me not look like the living dead (some of the time) was finding out which colours suit me best, loads of threads on S&B about it and I think it's definitely true that some colours wash you out completely and others give you a healthy glow.

Anyway, food:

BF: FF yog, raspberries and muesli (HEB)
L: Omelette + onion, cheese (HEA), tomato, basil
D: Think I'll have the leftover cous cous, ratatouille and halloumi from the other evening as DP is out tonight

plus plentiful fruit and possibly a glass or 2 of vino (t'would be rude not to have a few syns on a friday night)

Cheeseandbiscuits · 01/07/2011 16:20

Great Fred idea bee

Not doing too bad here. Went out for lunch but managed to kinda stick to it with grilled chicken and salad.

Can't remember who asked about old members..some got diffed, some given up, some on a break and some missing in action!

kid · 01/07/2011 17:45

I'm about to go and start dinner but haven't quite worked out what to cook yet.
I know we're having chicken which I'm going to fry with peppers and onions.
I want to use couscous and maybe some chickpeas (I think they taste nice, can't really remember)
Not sure if I need any pasatta or chopped tomatoes though. There might have been a similar recipe in an old sw mag but I can't recall it exactly.
I really hope someone is online and can advise me very soon!

Cheeseandbiscuits · 01/07/2011 18:03

You could do chicken with peppers, onions, basil, chopped toms like a casserole. Of do like a tray bake with chicken and roasted veg?

Im prob not being very helpful..

kid · 01/07/2011 19:46

Thanks cheese, I found I didn't have peppers after all, I used them at the weekend.
I did mushrooms, onions, chicken, thyme and pasata with garlic. I added couscous and mixed it all together. My kids asked for extra! Dh didn't like it as he isn't a huge fan of couscous. I ate some but still have no appetite.
Do you think your body adjusts to sw and requires less food or perhaps I'm coming down with something? Throat and neck is very tender but I'm not sure if it's exercise related pain.

AlpinePony · 01/07/2011 19:47

Hello, sorry to have gone awol. I was lost in Wales last week with my type I diabetic mother and my dad. Their food is somewhat reminiscent of an era 'when a pickled gherkin was the height of sophistication'. ;) pasta with sauce from a jar/ready made lasagna bokety bokety boke. :( processed food ugh. all bread and cereals.

As a result I put on 3lbs, think it's off again now. Morning sickness has me in that trap of wanting to eat constantly to try and alleviate the nausea and then feeling too grim to eat.

I hope everyone is doing ok. :)
