Hi
I am hoping that others who have a huge amount of weight to loose may like to have a support thread to get fit and shift some fat :)
I am currently around 18 stone, to terrified to get on the scales atm but will soon. I suffer from depression in part linked to my weight and am very unfit.
I have really got to do something, have always struggled with my weight and comfort eat hugely.
Anyone like to join me :)

I was 18stone last monday, since then I've lost 9lb!!!!

3m old DD2 has drunk most of those pounds away though, I've gone cold turkey on snacks to try and make use of bfing using up lots of calories - I actually put on weight when bfing DD1 I snacked so much Blush

what would you like to get down to? I'm 5'6" and would like to be 11stone.....

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 15/05/2011 15:25

I will join you! I am doing Paul McKenna, so I am not denying myself of anything :) I do a 4 mile powerwalk twice a week. I have lost almost 2 stone since March, I try not to get too despondant thinking about how much more I have to go!

PQR · 15/05/2011 17:32

Wow RobynLou, that's fantastic ! My weight is more than when I was pregnant with dd who is now eight.
I am around 5'7 and would love to get down to a size 14, about 12 stone for me.
Hi HowToLook, is Paul McKenna hypnosis 2 stone is great. How much do you want to loose?
I have just been to the beach with dd and the dog for a walk, dd to my shame is a wee bit chubby and I don't want her to struggle like I have.
My plan is lots of exercise, dust off the wii fit and do an hour a day on that plus a big walk with the dog every morning and not snack all the time :)

Yeah, Paul McKenna combines NLP (changes your thought process about food) and 4 basic principles. It is very easy to stick to, and I am having great success with it. I cant do diets, or restricting any food or doing "walks of shame" to get weighed at a class.
I am thinking about starting the Couch 2 5km running programme! I have a LOT to lose, but dont want to live my life by numbers, Ill go by how I look/feel :)

TidyDancer · 15/05/2011 18:37

PQR, have you thought about trying Weight Watchers? I've done it before and am about to start it again and IMO, it's a very good way of retraining yourself to eat to a limit. No food is off limits, which is what I like about it. I am not going to go to meetings, I'm going to do it all online.

I have the Paul McKenna books but I don't think I'm receptive to things like that, although they do make sense and are a good read.

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 15/05/2011 19:15

TidyDancer, you dont have to use the cD, soem of the girls on our thread are doing really well just by using the principles. How often & how long did you listen for? Maybe you didnt give it enough time.

TidyDancer · 15/05/2011 19:27

I'll be honest, only a couple of times. I have read the book, and the principles are good and very sensible. I am thinking about using some elements along with the WW programme. It's the only thing that has ever really worked for me. I used it when I was very overweight and it was just plain speaking for me, a simplified version of calorie counting really.

Have in the past lost six stone on WW.

TheMonster · 15/05/2011 19:30

I was going to join in but you're all skinny compared to me Sad

TidyDancer · 15/05/2011 19:32

Eeyore, can I ask how much you weigh? Don't feel like you have to answer, but I've been 19.2 stone before.

steffanny · 15/05/2011 19:33

can I join ?

I put on a lot of weight bf and dd did not sleep for 5 years.

I was 19.5 stone but an now just over 17. I am 40 next year and do not want to be both fat and 40 so the weight has to go.

TheMonster · 15/05/2011 19:34

Well I am currently over three stone heavier than you at your heaviest Sad, Tidy.

TidyDancer · 15/05/2011 19:47

Eeyore. :(

I'm sorry you're feeling like that. Do you know what your food issues are? For me, it was portion size, snacking, and late night grazing on anything (mainly the wrong thing!). WW really helped me with all that, because it's not regimented in the way that some diets are. You don't have to cut out any food entirely, which was always excellent for me, as the minute I couldn't have something, I wanted it by default.

I'm going to stick around on this thread, as I would like to be able to help because I was really big in the not too distant past.

I'm going back on WW to shift the baby weight btw, I'm not skinny by any means.

stinkypinky · 15/05/2011 19:47

Hi ladies, I am on a thread already ( Day of Doom - linked to SW) 8 weeks ago I weighed 17st 3, I am now 15st 9. I feel so much better already. My goal is 11st.

You can do it - and you too Eeyore. It is just a number - the challenge is the same, and you can all support and inspire each other. Whatever plan you guys follow does not really matter - the support you will give each other will be priceless. Good Luck! Grin

TheMonster · 15/05/2011 19:48

I was doing SW and had lost 2.5 stone but it all went wrong about three weeks ago.

stinkypinky · 15/05/2011 19:50

Are you able to say what went wrong Eeyore?

TidyDancer · 15/05/2011 19:51

What happened Eeyore?

Bloody good going on the 2.5 stone!

stinkypinky · 15/05/2011 19:52

Deffo! 2.5 stone means something was working...

TheMonster · 15/05/2011 20:16

I just went crazy for a weekend and then carried on. I suspect at least half of the 2.5 stone is back with me. I know I need to get going with SW again but I can't face it.

stinkypinky · 15/05/2011 20:20

Eeyore Each day you leave it, the harder it will be - the more damage will be done. The fact you are posting here suggests to me that you want to do it. Would a change from SW help, or do you like the plan?

whyme2 · 15/05/2011 20:29

Hi everyone. I would like to join. I started this week at an impressive 16st 12 Blush I have just mostly cut out snacks and started walking to school as much as possible. I have also got some rosemary conley dvd which I've done each evening this week. It is quite gentle aerobics really. I've lost 2 lb this week so far.

I am debating whether it is worth joining SW or not. I am going to do my own thing for 4 weeks and see how I get on. I am looking to increase my exercise as I go.

I also need to do more with my dcs as I noticed my dd is getting a little belly on her so any suggestions would be helpful.

I reallu understand where you are coming from Eeyore - hope you get sorted.

TidyDancer · 15/05/2011 20:30

I agree with that stinky. It's a bite the bullet and do it thing for me, and once I've got past the first couple of days, I feel more 'with it' in terms of following a diet.

Eeyore, I don't know how SW works exactly, but is there scope for slips? The WW propoints plan has a weekly points total that you can use as a safety net in case you slip. That's another reason it works for me.

SW is the group of choice amongst a lot of people I know though, so I'm sure it does work, just not familiar with it myself

TheMonster · 15/05/2011 20:39

You are right, Stinky, and I know it. I was going to go back last week and didn't.

I like SW because I like the fact that so much is syn free (like potatoes and pasta). My greatest downfall is wine and pizza. Sigh.

If I go back tomorrow I know I week feel shit because of a big gain. But if I focus on next Monday then I should have a big loss by then.

I should do it, I know.

stinkypinky · 15/05/2011 20:43

Eeyore If it went on in 3 weeks, it will be mostly water and should be gone in 3 weeks, if not less. I do not go to group (too tight, and small kids) and am viewing it as a very long journey. I have had little gains, but the general direction is down.

stinkypinky · 15/05/2011 20:47

Off to bed - DD1 needing attention. I will check in tomorrow to see if you have gone back Eeyore Smile

TheMonster · 15/05/2011 20:54

Thanks Stinky Smile
